< Maliro 5 >

1 Inu Yehova, kumbukirani zimene zinatichitikira; yangʼanani ndipo muone kunyozeka kwathu.
Remember, LORD, what has come on us. Look, and see our reproach.
2 Apereka cholowa chathu kwa obwera, nyumba zathu kwa alendo.
Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, our houses to aliens.
3 Takhala amasiye ndi wopanda abambo, amayi athu ali ngati akazi amasiye.
We are orphans and fatherless. Our mothers are as widows.
4 Tiyenera kugula madzi amene timamwa, nkhuni zathunso nʼzogula.
We must pay for water to drink. Our wood is sold to us.
5 Otilondola atigwira pakhosi; tafowoka ndipo sakutilola kupumula.
Our pursuers are on our necks. We are weary, and have no rest.
6 Tinadzipereka kwa Aigupto ndi kwa Asiriya kuti tipeze chakudya.
We have given our hands to the Egyptians, and to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.
7 Makolo athu anachimwa ndipo anafa kale, koma chilango chawo chili pa ife.
Our fathers sinned, and are no more. We have borne their iniquities.
8 Akapolo akutilamulira, ndipo palibe ndi mmodzi yemwe angatimasule mʼdzanja lawo.
Servants rule over us. There is no one to deliver us out of their hand.
9 Timapeza chakudya chathu poyika miyoyo yathu pa chiswe chifukwa cha lupanga mʼchipululu.
We get our bread at the peril of our lives, because of the sword in the wilderness.
10 Khungu lathu latentha ngati uvuni mʼngʼanjo, chifukwa cha kuwawa kwa njala.
Our skin is black like an oven, because of the burning heat of famine.
11 Amayi agwiriridwa mu Ziyoni, ndi anamwali mʼmizinda ya Yuda.
They ravished the women in Zion, the virgins in the cities of Judah.
12 Akalonga athu akuwapachika pomangirira manja awo, akuluakulu sakuwalemekeza.
Princes were hanged up by their hands. The faces of elders were not honoured.
13 Achinyamata akukakamizidwa kupera tirigu; anyamata akudzandira ndi mitolo ya nkhuni.
The young men carry millstones. The children stumbled under loads of wood.
14 Akuluakulu anachokapo pa chipata cha mzinda; achinyamata aleka nyimbo zawo.
The elders have ceased from the gate, and the young men from their music.
15 Chimwemwe chachoka mʼmitima yathu; kuvina kwathu kwasanduka maliro.
The joy of our heart has ceased. Our dance is turned into mourning.
16 Chipewa chathu chaufumu chagwa pamutu pathu. Tsoka kwa ife, chifukwa tachimwa!
The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned!
17 Mitima yathu yakomoka chifukwa cha zimenezi, chifukwa cha zinthu zimenezi maso athu sakuona bwino,
For this our heart is faint. For these things our eyes are dim:
18 pakuti phiri la Ziyoni, limene lasanduka bwinja, nkhandwe zikungoyendayendapo.
for the mountain of Zion, which is desolate. The foxes walk on it.
19 Inu Yehova, lamulirani kwamuyaya; mpando wanu waufumu udzakhalabe ku mibadomibado.
You, LORD, remain forever. Your throne is from generation to generation.
20 Chifukwa chiyani mumatiyiwala nthawi zonse? Chifukwa chiyani mwatitaya nthawi yayitali chotere?
Why do you forget us forever, and forsake us for so long a time?
21 Yehova mutitembenuzire kwa Inu, kuti tibwerere; mukonzenso masiku athu akhale monga akale,
Turn us to yourself, LORD, and we will be turned. Renew our days as of old.
22 pokhapokha ngati mwatitaya kotheratu, ndi kuti mwatikwiyira kobzola muyeso.
But you have utterly rejected us. You are very angry against us.
