< Yobu 9 >
1 Ndipo Yobu anayankha kuti,
And Job answered and said,
2 “Zoonadi, ndikudziwa kuti zimenezi ndi zoona. Koma munthu angathe bwanji kukhala wolungama pamaso pa Mulungu?
Of a truth I know it is so; but how can man be just with God?
3 Ngakhale wina atafuna kutsutsana naye, Iye sangamuyankhe munthuyo ngakhale mawu amodzi omwe.
If he shall choose to strive with him, he cannot answer him one thing of a thousand.
4 Mulungu ndi wa nzeru zambiri ndipo mphamvu zake ndi zochuluka. Ndani analimbana naye popanda kupwetekeka?
He is wise in heart and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and had peace?
5 Iye amasuntha mapiri, mapiriwo osadziwa, ndipo amawagubuduza ali wokwiya.
Who removeth mountains, and they know it not, when he overturneth them in his anger;
6 Iye amagwedeza dziko lapansi kulisuntha pamalo pake ndipo amanjenjemeretsa mizati yake.
Who shaketh the earth out of its place, and the pillars thereof tremble;
7 Iye amayankhula ndi dzuwa ndipo siliwala; Iyeyo amaphimba kuwala kwa nyenyezi.
Who commandeth the sun, and it riseth not, and he sealeth up the stars;
8 Ndi Mulungu yekha amene anayala mayiko akumwamba ndipo amayenda pa mafunde a pa nyanja.
Who alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the high waves of the sea;
9 Iye ndiye mlengi wa nyenyezi zamlalangʼamba ndi akamwiniatsatana, nsangwe ndi kumpotosimpita.
Who maketh the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, and the chambers of the south;
10 Iye amachita zozizwitsa zimene sizimvetsetseka, zodabwitsa zimene sizingawerengeke.
Who doeth great things past finding out, and wonders without number.
11 Akapita pafupi ndi ine sindingathe kumuona; akadutsa, sindingathe kumuzindikira.
Lo, he goeth by me, and I see [him] not; and he passeth along, and I perceive him not.
12 Ngati Iye alanda zinthu, ndani angathe kumuletsa? Ndani anganene kwa Iye kuti, ‘Mukuchita chiyani?’
Behold, he taketh away: who will hinder him? Who will say unto him, What doest thou?
13 Mulungu sabweza mkwiyo wake; ngakhale gulu lankhondo la Rahabe linawerama pa mapazi ake.
God withdraweth not his anger; the proud helpers stoop under him:
14 “Nanga ine ndingathe kukangana naye bwanji? Ndingawapeze kuti mawu oti nʼkutsutsana naye?
How much less shall I answer him, choose out my words [to strive] with him?
15 Ngakhale nditakhala wosalakwa, sindingamuyankhe; ndikanangopempha chifundo kwa woweruza wanga.
Whom, though I were righteous, [yet] would I not answer; I would make supplication to my judge.
16 Ngakhale ndikanamuyitana ndipo Iye ndi kuvomera, sindikhulupirira kuti akanamva mawu angawo.
If I had called, and he had answered me, I would not believe that he hearkened to my voice, —
17 Iye akanandikantha ndi mphepo yamkuntho, ndipo akanandipweteka popanda chifukwa.
He, who crusheth me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.
18 Mulungu sakanandilola kuti ndipumenso koma akanandichulukitsira zowawa.
He suffereth me not to take my breath, for he filleth me with bitternesses.
19 Tikanena za mphamvu, Iye ndi wamphamvudi! Ndipo tikanena za chiweruzo cholungama, ndani angamuzenge mlandu?
Be it a question of strength, lo, [he is] strong; and be it of judgment, who will set me a time?
20 Ngakhale ndikanakhala wosalakwa, zoyankhula zanga zikananditsutsa; ndikanakhala wopanda cholakwa, pakamwa panga pakanandipeza wolakwa.
If I justified myself, mine own mouth would condemn me; were I perfect, he would prove me perverse.
21 “Ngakhale ine ndili wosalakwa, sindidziyenereza ndekha; moyo wanga ndimawupeputsa.
Were I perfect, [yet] would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.
22 Zonse nʼzofanana; nʼchifukwa chake ndikuti, ‘Iye amawononga anthu osalakwa ndi anthu oyipa omwe.’
It is all one; therefore I said, he destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.
23 Pamene mkwapulo ubweretsa imfa yadzidzidzi, Iye amaseka tsoka la munthu wosalakwayo.
If the scourge kill suddenly, he mocketh at the trial of the innocent.
24 Pamene dziko lagwa mʼmanja mwa anthu oyipa Iye amawatseka maso anthu oweruza dzikolo. Ngati si Iyeyo, nanga ndani?
The earth is given over into the hand of the wicked [man]; he covereth the faces of its judges. If not, who then is it?
25 “Masiku anga ndi othamanga kwambiri kupambana munthu waliwiro; masikuwo amapita ine osaonapo zabwino.
And my days are swifter than a runner: they flee away, they see no good.
26 Amayenda ngati mabwato a njedza pa nyanja, ngati mphungu zothamangira nyama zoti zidye.
They pass by like skiffs of reed; as an eagle that swoops upon the prey.
27 Nʼtanena kuti, ‘Ndidzayiwala madandawulo anga, ndidzasintha nkhope yanga ndipo ndidzasekerera,’
If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my [sad] countenance, and brighten up,
28 ndikuopabe mavuto anga onse, popeza ndikudziwa kuti simudzavomereza kuti ndine wosalakwa.
I am afraid of all my sorrows; I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.
29 Popeza ndapezeka kale wolakwa ndivutikirenji popanda phindu?
Be it that I am wicked, why then do I labour in vain?
30 Ngakhale nditasamba mʼmadzi oyera kwambiri ndi kusamba mʼmanja mwanga ndi sopo,
If I washed myself with snow-water, and cleansed my hands in purity,
31 mutha kundiponyabe pa dzala, kotero kuti ngakhale zovala zanga zomwe zidzandinyansa.
Then wouldest thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes would abhor me.
32 “Mulungu si munthu ngati ine kuti ndithe kumuyankha, sindingathe kutsutsana naye mʼbwalo la milandu.
For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him; that we should come together in judgment.
33 Pakanapezeka munthu wina kuti akhale mʼkhalapakati wathu, kuti atibweretse ife tonse pamodzi,
There is not an umpire between us, who should lay his hand upon us both.
34 munthu wina woti achotse ndodo ya Mulungu pa ine kuti kuopsa kwake kusandichititsenso mantha!
Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his terror make me afraid,
35 Pamenepo ine ndikanatha kuyankhula mosamuopa Mulunguyo, koma monga zililimu, sindingathe.
[Then] I will speak, and not fear him; but it is not so with me.
