1 Tsopano chikhulupiriro ndi kusakayika konse pa zinthu zimene tikuziyembekeza, ndi kutsimikiza kuti zinthu zimene sitiziona zilipo ndithu.
Now, faith is the confidence of things hoped for, and the conviction of things not seen.
2 Ndi chikhulupiriro chimenechi makolo athu akale anayamikidwa.
By this, the ancients obtained reputation.
3 Ndi chikhulupiriro timazindikira kuti dziko lapansi ndi la mmwamba zinapangidwa ndi Mawu a Mulungu, ndikuti zinthu zoonekazi zinachokera ku zinthu zosaoneka. (aiōn g165)
By faith, we understand that the worlds were formed by the word of God; so that the things which were seen, were not made of things which do appear. (aiōn g165)
4 Ndi chikhulupiriro Abele anapereka kwa Mulungu nsembe yoposa imene Kaini anapereka. Ndi chikhulupiriro anatchedwa munthu wolungama Mulungu atayamikira zopereka zake. Ngakhale iye anafa, akuyankhulabe chifukwa cha chikhulupiriro chakecho.
By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain, on account of which he was commended as righteous; God testifying in favor of his oblations: and so, by it, though dead he still speaks.
5 Ndi chikhulupiriro Enoki anatengedwa wamoyo, motero iye sanalawe imfa; sanapezeke chifukwa Mulungu anamutenga. Pakuti asanatengedwe anayamikiridwa kuti ankakondweretsa Mulungu.
By faith Enoch was translated, that he might not see death, and was not found, because God had translated him; for, before his translation, it was testified that he pleased God.
6 Ndipo popanda chikhulupiriro nʼkosatheka kukondweretsa Mulungu, chifukwa aliyense amene amabwera kwa Iye ayenera kukhulupirira kuti Mulungu alipodi ndi kuti Iye amapereka mphotho kwa amene akumufunitsitsa.
But without faith it is impossible to please God. For he who comes to God, must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them who diligently seek him.
7 Ndi chikhulupiriro, Nowa atachenjezedwa za zinthu zimene zinali zisanaoneke, anachita mantha napanga chombo kuti apulumutsire banja lake. Ndi chikhulupiriro chake anatsutsa dziko lapansi ndipo analandira chilungamo chimene chimabwera ndi chikhulupiriro.
By faith, Noah, when he received a revelation concerning things not yet seen, being seized with religious fear, prepared an ark for the salvation of his family; by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
8 Ndi chikhulupiriro Abrahamu atayitanidwa kuti apite ku dziko limene anamulonjeza kuti lidzakhala lake, anamvera ndi kupita, ngakhale sanadziwe kumene ankapita.
By faith, Abraham, when called to go out into a place which he should afterward receive as an inheritance, obeyed, and went out, not knowing whither he was going.
9 Ndi chikhulupiriro chomwecho anakhala ngati mlendo mʼdziko lija limene Mulungu anamulonjeza. Anakhala mʼmatenti monganso anachitira Isake ndi Yakobo, amene nawonso analonjezedwanso.
By faith, he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the joint heirs of the same promise:
10 Pakuti amadikira mudzi wokhala ndi maziko, umene mmisiri ndi womanga wake ndi Mulungu.
for he expected the city having foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
11 Ndi chikhulupiriro Sara analandira mphamvu zokhala ndi pakati ngakhale kuti zaka zake zobala mwana zinali zitapita kale, popeza anamutenga amene analonjeza kukhala wokhulupirika.
By faith, also, Sarah herself received strength for the conception of seed, and brought forth, when past the time of life; because she judged him faithful who had promised.
12 Nʼchifukwa chake mwa munthu mmodzi, amene anali ngati wakufa, munatuluka mibado yochuluka ngati nyenyezi ndi yosawerengeka ngati mchenga wa mʼmbali mwa nyanja.
And, therefore, there sprang from one who was dead, in this respect, a race, as the stars of heaven in multitude, and as the sand, which is on the sea-shore, innumerable.
13 Onsewa anakhalabe mwachikhulupiriro mpaka anafa. Iwo sanalandire zimene Mulungu anawalonjeza; iwo anangozionera chapatali ndi kuzilandira. Ndipo iwo anavomereza kuti analidi alendo ndi osakhazikika pa dziko lapansi.
All these died in faith, not having received the promises. For, seeing the things promised, afar off, and embracing them, they confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims in the land.
14 Anthu amene amanena zinthu zotere amaonekeratu kuti akufuna dziko lawo lenileni.
Now they who speak such things, plainly declare that they earnestly seek a country.
15 Akanakhala kuti akuganizira za dziko limene analisiya akanapeza mpata obwerera kwawo.
For truly, if they had remembered that from which they came out, they might have had an opportunity to return it.
16 Mʼmalo mwake, iwo amafunitsitsa dziko labwino, ndilo lakumwamba. Nʼchifukwa chake Mulungu sachita manyazi kutchedwa Mulungu wawo, pakuti Iye anawalonjeza mudzi.
But, indeed, they strongly desired a better country; that is, a heavenly. Therefore, God is not ashamed of them--to be called their God; because he has prepared for them a city.
17 Ndi chikhulupiriro Abrahamu, Mulungu atamuyesa, anapereka Isake ngati nsembe. Ngakhale anali munthu woti Mulungu anamulonjeza, anakhala wokonzeka kupereka nsembe mwana wake mmodzi yekhayo.
By faith, Abraham, when tried, offered up Isaac; he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten,
18 Za mwana ameneyu Mulungu anamuwuza iye kuti, “Zidzukulu zako zidzachokera mwa Isake.”
concerning whom it was said, that "In Isaac shall thy seed be called";
19 Abrahamu amazindikira kuti Mulungu angathe kuukitsa akufa, ndipo tingathe kunena mofanizira kuti iye analandiranso Isake ngati wouka kwa akufa.
reasoning that God was able to raise him even from the dead; from whence, indeed, he received him in a figure.
20 Ndi chikhulupiriro Isake anadalitsa Yakobo ndi Esau pa zatsogolo lawo.
By faith, Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, with respect to things to come.
21 Ndi chikhulupiriro, pamene Yakobo ankamwalira anadalitsa ana awiri a Yosefe, ndipo anapembedza Mulungu atatsamira ndodo yake.
By faith, Jacob, when dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, bowing on the top of his staff.
22 Ndi chikhulupiriro Yosefe ali pafupi kumwalira anayankhula za kutuluka kwa Aisraeli mu Igupto ndipo anawawuza zoti adzachite ndi mafupa ake.
By faith, Joseph, when dying, made mention concerning the departing of the children of Israel, and gave commandment concerning his bones.
23 Ndi chikhulupiriro Mose atabadwa makolo ake anamubisa miyezi itatu, chifukwa iwo anaona kuti mwanayo anali wokongola ndipo sanaope konse lamulo la mfumu.
By faith, Moses, when born, was hid three months by his parents, because they saw that he was a beautiful child, and were not afraid of the king's commandment.
24 Ndi chikhulupiriro Mose atakula, anakana kutchedwa mwana wa mwana wamkazi wa Farao.
By faith, Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;
25 Iye anasankha kuzunzika nawo limodzi anthu a Mulungu kuposa kusangalala ndi zokondweretsa za uchimo kwa nthawi yochepa.
choosing rather to suffer evil with the people of God, than to have the temporary fruition of sin,
26 Anaona kuti kuzunzika chifukwa cha Khristu kunali kwa mtengowapatali kuposa chuma cha ku Igupto, chifukwa amaona mphotho ya mʼtsogolo.
esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he looked forward to the retribution.
27 Ndi chikhulupiriro anachoka ku Igupto wosaopa ukali wa mfumu. Iye anapirira chifukwa anamuona Mulungu amene ndi wosaonekayo.
By faith, he left Egypt, not being afraid of the wrath of the king. For he courageously persevered, as perceiving the invisible God.
28 Ndi chikhulupiriro anachita Paska ndi kuwaza magazi, kuti mngelo wowononga ana oyamba kubadwa asaphe ana oyamba kubadwa a Aisraeli.
By faith, he appointed the passover, and the sprinkling of the blood; that he who destroyed the first-born, might not touch them.
29 Ndi chikhulupiriro Aisraeli anawoloka Nyanja Yofiira ngati pa mtunda powuma, koma Aigupto atayesa kutero anamizidwa.
By faith, they passed through the Red Sea, as by dry land, which the Egyptians attempting to do, were drowned.
30 Ndi chikhulupiriro mpanda wa Yeriko unagwa, Aisraeli atawuzungulira kasanu ndi kawiri.
By faith, the walls of Jericho fell down, having been encompassed seven days.
31 Ndi chikhulupiriro Rahabe, mkazi wadama sanaphedwe pamodzi ndi osamvera aja chifukwa analandira bwino ozonda aja ku nyumba kwake.
By faith, Rahab, the harlot, was not destroyed with the unbelievers, having received the spies in peace.
32 Kodi ndinenenso chiyani? Nthawi yandichepera yoti ndinene za Gideoni, Baraki, Samsoni, Yefita, Davide, Samueli ndi aneneri,
And what shall I say more? for the time would fail me, to speak of Gideon, and Barak, and Samson, and Jepthah, and David, also, and Samuel, and the prophets--
33 amene ndi chikhulupiriro anagonjetsa mafumu, anakhazikitsa chilungamo ndi kulandira zimene zinalonjezedwa. Anatseka pakamwa pa mikango,
who, through faith, subdued kingdom, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
34 anazimitsa moto waukali, ndipo anapulumuka osaphedwa ndi lupanga. Anali ofowoka koma analandira mphamvu; anasanduka amphamvu pa nkhondo, nathamangitsa magulu a ankhondo a adani awo.
quenched the strength of fire, escaped the edges of the sword, grew strong from sickness, became valiant in battle, overturned the camps of the aliens.
35 Amayi ena analandira anthu awo amene anafa, ataukitsidwanso. Enanso anazunzidwa ndipo anakana kumasulidwa, kuti adzaukenso ndi moyo wabwino.
Women received their dead by a resurrection, and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.
36 Ena anawaseka ndi kuwakwapula, pamenenso ena anamangidwa ndi kupita ku ndende.
And others had trial of mockings and scourgings; and, moreover of bonds and imprisonment.
37 Anagendedwa miyala; anachekedwa pakati; ena anaphedwa ndi lupanga. Iwo anayendayenda atavala zikopa zankhosa ndi zikopa zambuzi, umphawi okhaokha, ozunzidwa ndi kuvutitsidwa.
They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, they were tempted, they died by the slaughter of the sword, they went about in sheep skins, and in goat skins, being destitute, afflicted, maltreated;
38 Dziko lapansi silinawayenere. Anayendayenda mʼzipululu ndi mapiri, ndiponso mʼmapanga ndi mʼmaenje.
of these the world was not worthy: they wandered in deserts, and mountains, and in caves, and holes of the earth.
39 Onsewa anayamikidwa chifukwa cha chikhulupiriro chawo, komabe palibe wa iwo amene analandira zimene analonjezedwa.
Now, all these, though commanded on account of faith, did not receive the promise,
40 Mulungu anatikonzera ife kanthu koposa, kuti iwo asayesedwe angwiro popanda ife.
God having provided something better for us, that they, without us, should not be made perfect.
