< Genesis 23 >
1 Sara anakhala ndi moyo zaka 127.
And the life of Sarah came to be, a hundred and twenty-seven years, —the years of the life of Sarah.
2 Anamwalirira ku Kiriyati-Araba, kumeneku ndi ku Hebroni, mʼdziko la Kanaani, ndipo Abrahamu anapita kukakhuza maliro a Sara, namulirira.
And Sarah died in Kiriath-arba, the same, is Hebron in the land of Canaan, —and Abraham went in to wail for Sarah and to weep for her.
3 Kenaka Abrahamu ananyamuka pamene panali mtembo wa mkazi wakepo kupita kukayankhula ndi anthu a ku Hiti. Ndipo anati,
And Abraham rose up from over the face of his dead, —and spake unto the sons of Heth, saying;
4 “Ine ndine mlendo wongoyendayenda kwanu kuno. Bwanji mundigulitse malo woti akhale manda kuti ndiyikepo thupi la mkazi wanga.”
A sojourner and settler, am I with you, —Give me a possession of a buryingplace with you, That I may bury my dead, from before me.
5 Anthu a ku Hiti aja anamuyankha Abrahamu kuti,
And the sons of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him:
6 “Tatimverani mbuye wathu, inu ndinu mwana wa mfumu wamkulu pakati pathu. Chonde ikani thupi la mkazi wanu mʼmanda aliwonse amene mungafune. Palibe mmodzi wa ife amene adzakukanizani manda ake kuti musayike mkazi wanu.”
Hear us, my lord! A prince of God, art thou in our midst, In the choice of our buryingplaces, bury thy dead, —Not, a man from among us his, burying-place, will withhold from thee, from burying thy dead.
7 Tsono Abrahamu anayimirira naweramira anthu a dziko la Hiti aja
And Abraham rose up, and bowed himself down to the people of the land, to the sons of Heth;
8 nati, “Ngati mwaloladi kuti ndiyike mkazi wanga kuno, ndiye ndimvereni. Mundipemphere kwa Efroni mwana wa Zohari
and spake with them, saying, —If it is with the consent of your minds that I should bury my dead from before me, hear me, and intercede for me, with Ephron son of Zohar:
9 kuti andigulitse phanga la Makipela, limene lili kumapeto kwa munda wake. Mumupemphe kuti andigulitse pamtengo wake ndithu inu mukuona kuti akhale manda.”
That he would give me, the cave of Machpelah, which pertaineth unto him, which is within the bounds of his field, —For full silver, let him give it me in your midst, For a possession of a buryingplace.
10 Pamenepo nʼkuti Efroni Mhiti ali pomwepo pakati pa anthuwo amene anabwera ku chipata cha mzindawo. Ndipo onse akumva anamuyankha Abrahamu
Now, Ephron, was sitting in the midst of the sons of Heth, —so Ephron the Hittite responded to Abraham, in the ears of the sons of Heth, even all that were entering the gate of his city, saying:
11 nati, “Ayi mbuye wanga tandimverani, ine ndikukupatsani mundawo ndiponso phanga limene lili mʼmenemo. Ndikukupatsani malowa pamaso pa anthu a mtundu wanga. Chonde ikani mtembo wamkazi wanu.”
Nay, my lord, hear me, The field, have I given to thee And, the cave that is therein, to thee, have I given it, —In the eyes of the sons of my people, have I given it thee Bury thy dead.
12 Apo Abrahamu anaweramanso mwaulemu pamaso pa anthu a mʼdzikolo
So Abraham boweth himself down, before the people of the land:
13 ndipo anthu onse akumva Abrahamu anati kwa Efroni, “Ngati kungatheke, chonde ndimvereni. Ine ndichita kugula mundawu. Landirani ndalama za mundawu kuti ine ndiyike mkazi wanga mʼmenemo.”
and spake unto Ephron in the ears of the people of the land saying, Only if, thou, wouldst, hear me, —I have given the silver of the field Take it of me, That I may bury my dead here.
14 Koma Efroni anamuyankha Abrahamu nati,
And Ephron responded to Abraham, saying to him,
15 “Mundimvere mbuye wanga; mundawo mtengo wake ndi masekeli asiliva okwana 400. Koma zimenezo nʼchiyani pakati pa ine ndi inu? Ikani mtembo wa mkazi wanu.”
My lord, hear me, —Land worth four hundred shekels of silver—betwixt me and thee, what is that? And thy dead., bury thou.
16 Abrahamu anavomera mtengo umene ananena Efroni Ahiti onse akumva ndipo anamuwerengera masekeli asiliva okwana 400 monga mwa mtengo wa ndalama umene amalonda a nthawi imeneyo ankagwiritsa ntchito.
And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron, and Abraham weighed out to Ephron the silver of which he had spoken in the ears of the sons of Heth, —four hundred shekels of silver, current with the merchant,
17 Choncho munda wa Efroni wa ku Makipela umene unali kufupi ndi Mamre, kuphatikiza munda, phanga linali mʼmenemo pamodzi ndi mitengo yonse ya mʼmundamo, zinaperekedwa
So was confirmed the field of Ephron, which is in Machpelah, which is before Mamre, —the field and the cave which is therein, and all the timber which was in the field, which was in all the boundary thereof round about,
18 kwa Abrahamu ngati chuma chake pamaso pa anthu onse a ku Hiti amene anabwera ku chipata cha mzindawo.
to Abraham as a purchase in the eyes of the sons of Heth, —with all who were entering the gate of his city.
19 Zitatha izi, Abrahamu anayika mkazi wake Sara mʼphanga la mʼmunda wa ku Makipela, kufupi ndi ku Mamre (kumene ndi ku Hebroni) mʼdziko la Kanaani.
And after this, did Abraham bury Sarah his wife, within the cave of the field of Machpelah, over against Mamre, the same, is Hebron, —in the land of Canaan.
20 Choncho Ahiti anapereka munda pamodzi ndi phanga la mʼmenemo kwa Abrahamu kuti akhale manda.
So was confirmed the field with the cave which was therein to Abraham, for a possession of a buryingplace, —from the sons of Heth.
