< Eksodo 18 >

1 Yetero wansembe wa ku Midiyani amenenso anali mpongozi wa Mose, anamva zonse zimene Mulungu anachitira Mose ndi anthu ake a Aisraeli ndi mmene Yehova anawatulutsira mʼdziko la Igupto.
And Jothor the priest of Madiam, the father-in-law of Moses, heard of all that the Lord did to his people Israel; for the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt.
2 Mose atamubweza Zipora, mkazi wake, Yetero, mpongozi wake anamulandira
And Jothor the father-in-law of Moses, took Sepphora the wife of Moses after she had been sent away,
3 mwana wake wamkaziyo pamodzi ndi ana ake aamuna awiri. Mose anamupatsa mwana wachisamba dzina loti Geresomu popeza anati, “Ndakhala mlendo mʼdziko lachilendo.”
and her two sons: the name of the one was Gersam, [his father] saying, I was a sojourner in a strange land; —
4 Ndipo mwana wake wachiwiri anamupatsa dzina loti Eliezara, pakuti anati, “Mulungu wa makolo anga anali thandizo langa. Iye anandipulumutsa ku lupanga la Farao.”
and the name of the second Eliezer, saying, For the God of my father [is] my helper, and he has rescued me out of the hand of Pharao.
5 Yetero, mpongozi wa Mose pamodzi ndi ana a Mose aamuna awiri ndi mkazi wake anabwera kwa Mose ku chipululu pa phiri la Mulungu kumene Mose anamanga misasa.
And Jothor the father-in-law of Moses, and his sons and his wife, went forth to Moses into the wilderness, where he encamped on the mount of God.
6 Yetero anali atatumiza uthenga kwa Mose kuti, “Ine Yetero, mpongozi wako, ndikubwera ndi mkazi wako ndi ana ake awiri.”
And it was told Moses, saying, Behold, your father-in-law Jothor is coming to you, and your wife and two sons with him.
7 Kotero Mose anatuluka kukakumana ndi mpongozi wake ndipo anawerama ndi kupsompsona. Atalonjerana anakalowa mu tenti
And Moses went forth to meet his father-in-law, and did him reverence, and kissed him, and they embraced each other, and he brought them into the tent.
8 Mose anafotokozera mpongozi wake zonse zimene Yehova anamuchita Farao ndi Aigupto chifukwa cha Israeli komanso zowawa zonse anakumana nazo mʼnjira. Mose anafotokozanso momwe Yehova anawapulumutsira.
And Moses related to his father-in-law all things that the Lord did to Pharao and all the Egyptians for Israel's sake, and all the labor that had befallen them in the way, and that the Lord had rescued them out of the hand of Pharao, and out of the hand of the Egyptians.
9 Yetero anakondwa kwambiri atamva zabwino zonse zimene Yehova anachitira Aisraeli powapulumutsa mʼdzanja la Aigupto.
And Jothor was amazed at all the good things which the Lord did to them, forasmuch as he rescued them out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of Pharao.
10 Iye anati, “Alemekezeke Yehova amene wakupulumutsani mʼdzanja la Aigupto ndi Farao. Wapulumutsanso anthuwa mʼdzanja la Aigupto.
And Jothor said, Blessed be the Lord, because he has rescued them out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of Pharao.
11 Tsopano ndikudziwa kuti Yehova ndi wopambana milungu ina yonse, pakuti anachita izi kwa amene ananyoza Israeli.”
Now know I that the Lord is great above all gods, because of this, wherein they attacked them.
12 Ndipo Yetero, mpongozi wa Mose anapereka nsembe yopsereza ndi nsembe zina kwa Mulungu. Aaroni ndi akuluakulu onse a Israeli anabwera kudzadya chakudya pamodzi ndi mpongozi wa Mose pamaso pa Mulungu.
And Jothor the father-in-law of Moses took whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for God, for Aaron and all the elders of Israel came to eat bread with the father-in-law of Moses before God.
13 Mmawa mwake, Mose anakhala pa mpando kuti aweruze milandu ya anthu. Anthu anayima momuzungulira kuyambira mmawa mpaka madzulo.
And it came to pass after the morrow that Moses sat to judge the people, and all the people stood by Moses from morning till evening.
14 Mpongozi wa Mose ataona zonse zimene iye amawachitira anthu anati, “Nʼchiyani chimene mukuwachitira anthuwa? Nʼchifukwa chiyani mulipo nokha woweruza, pamene anthu onsewa ayimirira kuyambira mmawa mpaka madzulo?”
And Jothor having seen all that [Moses] did to the people, says, What is this that you do to the people? therefore sit you alone, and all the people stand by you from morning till evening?
15 Mose anamuyankha kuti, “Chifukwa anthuwa anabwera kwa ine kudzafunsa zimene Mulungu akufuna.
And Moses says to his father-in-law, Because the people come to me to seek judgment from God.
16 Ngati munthu akangana ndi mʼbale wake, onse awiri amabwera kwa ine, ndipo ine ndimawaweruza. Ndimawawuzanso malamulo a Mulungu ndi malangizo ake.”
For whenever there is a dispute among them, and they come to me, I give judgment upon each, and I teach them the ordinances of God and his law.
17 Mpongozi wa Mose anayankha kuti, “Zimene mukuchitazi si zabwino.
And the father-in-law of Moses said to him, You do not this thing rightly,
18 Ntchitoyi ndi yayikulu kuposa mphamvu zanu. Inu simungathe kuyigwira nokha. Inu pamodzi ndi anthuwa amene amabwera kwa inu mudzatopa.
you will wear away with intolerable weariness, both those and all this people which is with you: this thing is hard, you will not be able to endure it yourself alone.
19 Tsono tamverani ndikulangizeni, ndipo Mulungu akhale nanu. Inu muziwayimirira anthuwa pamaso pa Mulungu, ndipo mikangano yawo muzibwera nayo kwa Iye.
Now then listen to me, and I will advise you, and God shall be with you: be you to the people in the things pertaining to God, and you shall bring their matters to God.
20 Aphunzitseni mawu ndi malangizo a Mulungu. Aphunzitseni mmene ayenera kukhalira ndi zimene ayenera kuchita.
And you shall testify to them the ordinances of God and his law, and you shall show to them the ways in which they shall walk, and the works which they shall do.
21 Koma sankhani amuna odziwa ntchito yawo, anthu owopa Mulungu, anthu odalirika amene amadana ndi kupeza phindu mwachinyengo. Tsono muwayike kuti akhale oyangʼanira anthu motere: atsogoleri a anthu 1,000, ena a anthu 100, ena a anthu 50 ndi ena a anthu khumi.
And do you look out for yourself out of all the people able men, fearing God, righteous men, hating pride, and you shall set over the people captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, and captains of fifties, and captains of tens.
22 Tsono amenewa aziweruza anthu nthawi zonse. Mlandu uliwonse waukulu azibwera nawo kwa inu, koma mlandu waungʼono aziweruza okha. Izi zidzachititsa kuti ntchito yanu ipepuke, popeza mudzagwira ntchito mothandizana.
And they shall judge the people at all times, and the too burdensome matter they shall bring to you, but they shall judge the smaller cases; so they shall relieve you and help you.
23 Ngati mutsatira malangizowa monga mmene Mulungu wakulamulirani ndiye kuti simudzafowoka ndipo anthu onsewa adzapita kwawo mu mtendere.”
If you will do this thing, God shall strengthen you, and you shall be able to attend, and all this people shall come with peace into their own place.
24 Mose anamvera mpongozi wake ndi kuchita zonse zimene iye ananena.
And Moses listened to the voice of his father-in-law, and did whatever he said to him.
25 Iye anasankha amuna odziwa bwino ntchito zawo ndipo anawayika kuti akhale atsogoleri, oyangʼanira anthu motere: atsogoleri a anthu 1,000, ena a anthu 500, ena a anthu makumi asanu ndi ena a anthu khumi.
And Moses chose out able men out of all Israel, and he made them captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, and captains of fifties and captains of tens over the people.
26 Iwowa ankaweruza anthu nthawi zonse. Milandu yovuta ankabwera nayo kwa Mose, koma yosavuta ankayiweruza okha.
And they judged the people at all times; and every too burdensome matter they brought to Moses, but every light matter they judged themselves.
27 Kenaka Mose analola kuti mpongozi wake, Yetero anyamuke kubwerera ku dziko la kwawo.
And Moses dismissed his father-in-law, and he returned to his own land.
