< Machitidwe a Atumwi 4 >
1 Pamene Petro ndi Yohane amayankhula ndi anthu, kunabwera ansembe, mkulu woyangʼanira Nyumba ya Mulungu ndiponso Asaduki.
As Peter and John were speaking to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple guard, and the Sadducees came to them,
2 Iwo anakhumudwa kwambiri chifukwa atumwiwo amaphunzitsa anthu ndi kumalalikira za kuuka kwa akufa mwa Yesu.
greatly annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
3 Iwo anagwira Petro ndi Yohane, popeza kunali kutada, anawayika mʼndende mpaka mmawa mwake.
So they arrested them and took them into custody until the next day, for it was already evening.
4 Koma anthu ambiri amene anamva uthenga anakhulupirira, ndipo chiwerengero cha anthu chinakwana 5,000.
But many who heard the word believed, and the number of men who believed came to about five thousand.
5 Mmawa mwake olamulira, akulu ndi aphunzitsi a malamulo anasonkhana mu Yerusalemu.
On the next day, the rulers, elders, and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem,
6 Panali Anasi, Mkulu wa ansembe, Kayafa, Yohane ndi Alekisandro ndi ana a banja la mkulu wa ansembe.
along with Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and all who were members of the high-priestly family.
7 Iwo anayimiritsa Petro ndi Yohane patsogolo pawo nayamba kuwafunsa kuti, “Kodi munachita zimenezi ndi mphamvu yanji kapena mʼdzina la yani?”
After making Peter and John stand before them, they began to question them: “By what power or by what name did you do this?”
8 Petro wodzazidwa ndi Mzimu Woyera, anawawuza kuti, “Inu olamulira ndi akulu!
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel,
9 Ngati ife tikufunsidwa lero chifukwa cha ntchito yabwino imene yachitika pa munthu wolumala miyendo ndi mmene iye anachiritsidwira,
if we are being examined today about a good deed done to a disabled man and by what means he has been healed,
10 tsono dziwani izi inu ndi aliyense mu Israeli: munthuyu akuyima pamaso panu, wochiritsidwa kwathunthu, ndi chifukwa cha dzina la Yesu Khristu wa ku Nazareti amene munamupachika koma Mulungu anamuukitsa kwa akufa.
let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that this man is standing before you in good health by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified and whom God raised from the dead.
11 Iye ndi “‘Mwala umene amisiri omanga nyumba anawukana, umenewo wasanduka mwala wa pa ngodya!’
This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone.
12 Chipulumutso sichipezeka mwa wina aliyense; pakuti palibe dzina lina pansi pa thambo limene lapatsidwa kwa anthu limene tiyenera kupulumutsidwa nalo.”
There is salvation in no other, for there is no other name given among men by which we must be saved.”
13 Ataona kulimba mtima kwa Petro ndi Yohane ndi kuzindikira kuti anali osaphunzira, anthu wamba, anadabwa kwambiri ndipo anazindikira kuti anthuwa anakhala pamodzi ndi Yesu.
When they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and when they realized that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed and recognized that they had been with Jesus.
14 Koma popeza iwo amamuona munthu amene anachiritsidwa atayima pamodzi ndi iwo, palibe chimene akananena.
But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, they had nothing to say in opposition.
15 Chifukwa chake anawalamula kuti atuluke mʼbwalo la milandu ndipo akulu abwalowo anayamba kukambirana.
So they ordered Peter and John to step out from the Sanhedrin while they conferred with one another,
16 Iwo anafunsana kuti, “Kodi anthuwa tichite nawo chiyani? Pakuti aliyense okhala mu Yerusalemu akudziwa kuti achita chodabwitsachi, ndipo ife sitingathe kukana.
saying, “What should we do with these men? For it is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem that a notable sign has been done through them, and we cannot deny it.
17 Koma kuti mbiriyi isapitirire kuwanda pakati pa anthu, ife tiwachenjeze anthu amenewa kuti asayankhulenso kwa wina aliyense mʼdzina la Yesu.”
But so that it may not spread any further among the people, we will strictly warn them to speak no more in this name to any of the people.”
18 Pamenepo anawayitananso ndipo anawalamula kuti asayankhule kapena kuphunzitsa konse mʼdzina la Yesu.
Then they called them in and ordered them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.
19 Koma Petro ndi Yohane anayankha kuti, “Weruzani nokha ngati nʼkwabwino pamaso pa Mulungu kumvera inu koposa Mulungu.
But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge.
20 Ife sitingaleke kuyankhula za zimene tinaziona ndi kuzimva.”
For we cannot help but speak about what we have seen and heard.”
21 Atawonjeza kuwaopseza anawamasula. Sanathe kugwirizana njira yowalangira, chifukwa anthu onse amayamika Mulungu chifukwa cha zimene zinachitika.
So after threatening Peter and John further, they released them, finding no way to punish them, because all the people were glorifying God for what had happened.
22 Ndipo munthu amene anachiritsidwayo anali ndi zaka makumi anayi.
For the man on whom this sign of healing had been performed was more than forty years old.
23 Atamasulidwa Petro ndi Yohane anapita kwa anzawo ndipo anawafotokozera zonse zimene akulu a ansembe ndi akulu anawawuza.
After being released, Peter and John went to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them.
24 Anthu atamva zimenezi anafuwula ndi mtima umodzi napemphera kwa Mulungu. Iwo anati, “Ambuye wolamulira zonse, Inu munalenga kumwamba ndi dziko lapansi ndi nyanja ndiponso zonse zili mʼmenemo.
When they heard this, they lifted up their voices with one accord to God and said, “Master, yoʋ are God, who made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them.
25 Inu munayankhula mwa Mzimu Woyera kudzera pakamwa pa Davide kholo lathu, mtumiki wanu kuti, “‘Nʼchifukwa chiyani anthu a mitundu ina akufuna kuchita chiwembu, ndipo akonzekera kuchita zopandapake?
It is yoʋ who said through the mouth of yoʋr servant David, ‘Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot foolish things?
26 Mafumu a dziko lapansi akugwirizana nazo; ndipo olamulira asonkhana pamodzi kulimbana ndi Ambuye ndi wodzozedwa wakeyo.’
The kings of the earth stand up, and the rulers are gathered together, against the Lord and against his Anointed.’
27 Zoonadi, Herode ndi Pontiyo Pilato anasonkhana pamodzi ndi amitundu ndiponso Aisraeli, mu mzinda muno, kupanga zolimbana ndi mtumiki wanu woyera Yesu, amene Inu munamudzoza.
For indeed both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together against yoʋr holy servant Jesus, whom yoʋ anointed,
28 Iwo anachita zimene munakonzeratu mwachifuniro chanu ndi mphamvu yanu kuti zichitike.
to do whatever yoʋr hand and yoʋr plan had foreordained to take place.
29 Tsopano, Ambuye taonani kuti atiopseza, tithandizeni ife atumiki anu, kuti tiyankhule mawu anu molimba mtima.
And now, Lord, take note of their threats and grant it to yoʋr servants to speak yoʋr word with all boldness,
30 Tambasulani dzanja lanu kuchiritsa anthu ndipo kuti, zizindikiro zodabwitsa zichitike mʼdzina la mtumiki wanu woyera Yesu.”
as yoʋ stretch out yoʋr hand to heal and to perform signs and wonders through the name of yoʋr holy servant Jesus.”
31 Iwo atatha kupemphera, malo amene anasonkhanapo anagwedezeka. Ndipo iwo onse anadzazidwa ndi Mzimu Woyera ndipo anayankhula Mawu a Mulungu molimba mtima.
After they prayed, the place where they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking the word of God with boldness.
32 Okhulupirira onse anali a mtima umodzi, ndi maganizo amodzi. Palibe munthu amene amati zomwe anali nazo zinali zake zokha, koma amagawana chilichonse chimene anali nacho.
Now the hearts and souls of the multitude of believers were one, and no one was saying that any of their belongings was his own, but everything they owned was held in common.
33 Atumwi anapitirira kuchitira umboni mwa mphamvu zakuuka kwa Ambuye Yesu, ndipo pa iwo panali chisomo chochuluka.
With great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.

They laid the money at the feet of the apostles, and the proceeds were distributed to anyone who had need.
