1 Paulo anafika ku Derbe ndi Lusitra, kumene kumakhala ophunzira wina dzina lake Timoteyo. Amayi ake anali Myuda wokhulupirira, koma abambo ake anali Mgriki.
And he came to Derbe and to Lystra. And behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a certain faithful Jewish woman, but of a Greek father,
2 Abale a ku Lusitra ndi Ikoniya anamuchitira iye umboni wabwino.
who was well reported of by the brothers at Lystra and Iconium.
3 Paulo anafuna kumutenga pa ulendo, kotero anachita mdulidwe chifukwa cha Ayuda amene amakhala mʼderalo pakuti onse amadziwa kuti abambo ake anali Mgriki.
Paul wanted this man to go forth with him. And having taken him, he circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those regions, for they had all seen that his father was a Greek.
4 Pamene amayenda mzinda ndi mzinda, amafotokoza zimene atumwi ndi akulu ampingo ku Yerusalemu anagwirizana kuti anthu azitsatire.
And as they were going through the cities, they delivered to them the decrees to keep, which were determined by the apostles and elders at Jerusalem.
5 Kotero mipingo inalimbikitsidwa mʼchikhulupiriro ndipo anthu amachulukirachulukirabe tsiku ndi tsiku.
Indeed therefore the congregations were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.
6 Paulo ndi anzake anadutsa mayiko a Frugiya ndi Galatiya, Mzimu Woyera atawaletsa kulalikira Mawu a Mulungu ku Asiya.
But having passed through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia,
7 Atafika ku malire a Musiya, anayesa kulowa ku Bituniya, koma Mzimu wa Yesu sunawalole kutero.
having come toward Mysia, they attempted to go toward Bithynia. And the Spirit did not allow them.
8 Ndipo iwo anadutsa Musiya ndipo anapita ku Trowa.
And after passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas.
9 Nthawi ya usiku Paulo anaona masomphenya, munthu wa ku Makedoniya atayimirira ndi kumupempha kuti, “Bwerani ku Makedoniya, mudzatithandize.”
And a vision appeared to Paul during the night. A certain Macedonian man was standing, imploring him, and saying, After crossing over into Macedonia, help us.
10 Paulo ataona masomphenyawa, tinakonzeka kupita ku Makedoniya, kutsimikiza kuti Mulungu anatiyitana kuti tikalalikire Uthenga Wabwino.
And after he saw the vision, straightaway we sought to go forth into Macedonia, concluding that the Lord called us to preach the good news to them.
11 Kuchokera ku Trowa tinakwera sitima ya pamadzi kupita ku Samotrake ndipo mmawa mwake tinapitirira mpaka ku Neapoli.
Therefore, having launched from Troas, we took a straight course to Samothrace, and the next day to Neapolis,
12 Kuchokera kumeneko tinapita ku Filipi, boma la Aroma ndiponso mzinda waukulu wa dera la Makedoniya. Tinakhala kumeneko masiku owerengeka.
and from there to Philippi, which is a principle city of the district of Macedonia colony. And we were in the same city remaining some days.
13 Pa tsiku la Sabata tinatuluka mu mzindawo kupita ku mtsinje kumene timayembekezera kukapeza malo opempherera. Tinakhala pansi ndipo tinayamba kuyankhula ndi amayi amene anasonkhana pamenepo.
And on the sabbath day we went outside the city beside a river, where it was customary for prayer to be. And having sat down, we spoke to the women who came together.
14 Mmodzi wa amayi amene amamvetserawo ndi Lidiya amene amagulitsa nsalu zofiira, wochokera ku mzinda wa Tiyatira, ndipo amapembedza Mulungu. Ambuye anatsekula mtima wake kuti amve mawu a Paulo.
And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple of the city of Thyatira, a woman who worshiped God, was listening, whose heart the Lord opened to heed the things being spoken by Paul.
15 Iye ndi a mʼbanja lake atabatizidwa, anatiyitana kuti tipite ku nyumba yake. Iye anati, “Ngati mwanditenga ine kukhala wokhulupirira mwa Ambuye, bwerani mudzakhale mʼnyumba mwanga.” Ndipo anatiwumiriza ife kwambiri.
And when she was immersed, and her household, she urged us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, after coming into my house, remain. And she constrained us.
16 Tsiku lina pamene timapita kumalo wopempherera, tinakumana ndi mtsikana wina amene anali ndi mzimu woyipa umene umanena zamʼtsogolo. Iye amapezera ndalama zambiri ambuye ake pa ulosi wake.
And it came to pass, as we were going to prayer, for a certain servant girl having a spirit of divination to meet us, who brought her masters much business by soothsaying.
17 Mtsikanayu anatsatira Paulo ndi ife, akufuwula kuti, “Anthu awa ndi atumiki a Mulungu Wammwambamwamba, amene akukuwuzani inu njira yachipulumutso.”
This woman having followed Paul and us was crying out, saying, These men are bondmen of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.
18 Iye anachita izi masiku ambiri. Kenaka Paulo anavutika mu mtima, natembenuka ndipo anati kwa mzimuwo, “Ndikukulamula iwe mʼdzina la Yesu Khristu kuti utuluke mwa iye!” Nthawi yomweyo mzimuwo unatuluka.
And she did this on many days. But Paul, after being exasperated, and having turned, he said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And it came out the same hour.
19 Pamene ambuye a mtsikana uja anazindikira kuti chiyembekezo chawo chopezera ndalama chatha, anagwira Paulo ndi Sila nawakokera ku bwalo la akulu.
But when her masters saw that the hope of their business was gone, having seized Paul and Silas, they dragged them into the marketplace to the rulers.
20 Anawabweretsa iwo kwa oweruza milandu ndipo anati, “Anthu awa ndi Ayuda, iwo akuvutitsa mu mzinda wathu.
And after bringing them to the magistrates, they said, These men, being Jews, disturb our city,
21 Ndipo akuphunzitsa miyambo imene ife Aroma sitiloledwa kuyilandira kapena kuyichita.”
and proclaim customs that are not permitted for us to receive nor to do, being Romans.
22 Gulu la anthu linatsutsana ndi Paulo ndi Sila, ndipo woweruza milandu analamula kuti avulidwe ndi kumenyedwa.
And the multitude rose up together against them. And the magistrates, having torn off their clothes, commanded to beat them with rods.
23 Atawakwapula kwambiri anawaponya mʼndende, nalamula woyangʼanira kuti awasunge mosamalitsa.
And having laid many blows upon them, they cast them into prison, having ordered the jailor to guard them securely,
24 Chifukwa cha mawu amenewa woyangʼanira ndende anakawayika mʼchipinda chamʼkati mwa ndende, nawamangirira miyendo yawo mʼzigologolo.
who, having received such an order, threw them into the inner prison, and fastened their feet in the stocks.
25 Koma pakati pa usiku Paulo ndi Sila ankapemphera ndi kuyimba nyimbo zolemekeza Mulungu, ndipo akayidi ena ankamvetsera.
Now toward midnight Paul and Silas, while praying, were singing praises to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
26 Mwadzidzidzi kunachitika chivomerezi champhamvu kotero kuti maziko a ndende anagwedezeka. Nthawi yomweyo zitseko zonse za ndende zinatsekuka, ndipo maunyolo a aliyense anamasuka.
And suddenly a great earthquake occurred, so as for the foundations of the prison to shake. And immediately all the doors were opened, and the bonds of all the men were unfastened.
27 Woyangʼanira ndende uja atadzuka ku tulo, anaona kuti zitseko za ndende zinali zotsekula, ndipo anasolola lupanga lake nafuna kudzipha chifukwa ankaganiza kuti amʼndende athawa.
And the jailor, who became awake and who saw the prison doors opened, having drawn out a sword was going to kill himself, supposing the prisoners to have fled.
28 Koma Paulo anafuwula kuti, “Usadzipweteke! Tonse tilipo!”
But Paul cried out in a great voice, saying, Do nothing harmful to thyself, for we are all here.
29 Woyangʼanira ndendeyo anayitanitsa nyale, nathamangira mʼkati ndipo anadzigwetsa pa mapazi a Paulo ndi Sila akunjenjemera.
And having asked for lights, he rushed in, and having become trembling, he fell down before Paul and Silas.
30 Iye anawatulutsa kunja ndipo anawafunsa kuti, “Amuna inu, ndichite chiyani kuti ndipulumuke?”
And after bringing them outside, he said, Sirs, what must I do so that I may be saved?
31 Iwo anayankha kuti, “Khulupirira Ambuye Yesu ndipo udzapulumuka, iwe ndi a mʼbanja lako.”
And they said, Believe in the Lord Jesus, and thou will be saved, thou and thy household.
32 Kenaka analalikira mawu a Ambuye kwa iyeyo ndi onse amene anali mʼnyumba mwake.
And they spoke the word of the Lord to him, and to all those in his house.
33 Usiku womwewo woyangʼanira ndendeyo anawatenga nakawatsuka mabala awo; ndipo pomwepo iye ndi a mʼbanja lake anabatizidwa.
And having taken them in that hour of the night, he washed from the stripes, and was immersed, he and all those of him, immediately.
34 Woyangʼanira ndendeyo anapita nawo ku nyumba yake, nakawapatsa chakudya, ndipo banja lonse linadzazidwa ndi chimwemwe chifukwa anakhulupirira Mulungu.
And having brought them into his house, he set out a table, and rejoiced, having believed in God with all his house.
35 Kutacha, woweruza milandu uja anatuma asilikali kwa woyangʼanira ndendeyo kukanena kuti, “Amasuleni anthu aja.”
But when it became day, the magistrates sent out the police, saying, Release those men.
36 Woyangʼanira ndendeyo anawuza Paulo kuti, “Woweruza milandu walamula kuti iwe ndi Sila mumasulidwe. Tsopano muzipita. Pitani mumtendere.”
And the jailor reported these words to Paul: The magistrates have sent out so that ye may be released. Now therefore after coming out, go in peace.
37 Koma Paulo anati kwa asilikaliwo: “Iwo anatikwapula pa gulu la anthu asanatiweruze, ngakhale kuti ndife nzika za Chiroma natiponya mʼndende. Kodi tsopano akufuna kutitulutsa mwamseri? Ayi! Asiyeni abwere okha kuti adzatitulutse.”
But Paul said to them, Having beaten us publicly, uncondemned men, being Romans, they cast us into prison, and now they thrust us out privately? Certainly not, but after coming, they shall lead us out.
38 Asilikali aja anakafotokozera woweruza milandu ndipo pamene anamva kuti Paulo ndi Sila anali nzika za Chiroma, anachita mantha.
And the police reported these sayings to the magistrates, and they were afraid when they heard that they were Romans.
39 Iye anabwera kudzawapepesa ndipo anawatulutsa mʼndende, nawapempha kuti achoke mu mzindawo.
And having come they besought them, and when they brought them out, they asked them to go out of the city.
40 Paulo ndi Sila atatuluka mʼndende, anapita ku nyumba ya Lidiya, kumene anakumana ndi abale nawalimbikitsa. Kenaka anachoka.
And having departed from the prison, they came in to Lydia. And after seeing the brothers, they encouraged them, and departed.
