< Machitidwe a Atumwi 14 >
1 Ku Ikoniya, Paulo ndi Barnaba analowanso mʼsunagoge ya Ayuda. Kumeneko iwo anaphunzitsa momveka bwino kotero kuti anthu ambiri Achiyuda ndi anthu a mitundu ina anakhulupirira.
And it came to pass at Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and spoke in such a manner that a great multitude, both of the Jews and of the Greeks, believed.
2 Koma Ayuda amene anakana kukhulupirira anawutsa anthu a mitundu ina nawononga maganizo awo kutsutsana ndi abale.
But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the minds of the Gentiles, and filled them with malignity against the brethren.
3 Ndipo Paulo ndi Barnaba anakhala kumeneko nthawi yayitali, nalalikira molimba mtima za Ambuye amene anawapatsa mphamvu yochitira zozizwitsa ndi zizindikiro zodabwitsa pochitira umboni mawu a chisomo.
They, however, staid there a considerable time, speaking boldly for the Lord; who gave attestation to the word of his grace, and granted signs and miracles to be done by their hands.
4 Anthu a mu mzindamo anagawikana; ena anali mbali ya Ayuda, ena mbali ya atumwi.
So the multitude of the city was divided; and some were with the Jews, and others with the Apostles.
5 Pamenepo anthu a mitundu ina ndi Ayuda, pamodzi ndi atsogoleri awo anakonza chiwembu choti azunze atumwiwo ndi kuwagenda ndi miyala.
But, as a violent attempt was made, both by the Gentiles and Jews, with their rulers, to assault and stone them;
6 Koma atazindikira zimenezi, anathawira ku Lusitra ndi Derbe, mizinda ya ku Lukaoniya, ndiponso ku dziko lozungulira mizindayo,
they, having received intelligence of it, fled to Lystra, and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the adjacent country:
7 kumene anapitiriza kulalikira Uthenga Wabwino.
and there they declared the glad tidings.
8 Ku Lusitra kunali munthu wolumala miyendo, amene sanayendepo chibadwire chake.
Now, there was a certain man at Lystra, disabled in his feet; so lame, from his birth, that he had never walked.
9 Iyeyu, amamvetsera pamene Paulo amayankhula. Paulo anamuyangʼanitsitsa ndipo anaona kuti anali ndi chikhulupiriro choti achiritsidwe nacho.
This man heard Paul speaking, who, fixing his eyes upon him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed;
10 Ndipo Paulo anamuyitana mofuwula nati, “Imirira!” Atamva zimenezi, munthuyo anayimirira, nayamba kuyenda.
said, with a loud voice, Stand upright on your feet. And he leaped up, and walked.
11 Gulu la anthu litaona zimene Paulo anachitazi, linafuwula mʼChilukaoniya kuti, “Milungu yatitsikira yooneka ngati anthu!”
And the multitude, seeing what Paul had done, lifted up their voices, saying, in the Lycaonian language, The gods are descended to us in the likeness of men.
12 Barnaba anamutcha Zeusi ndipo Paulo anamutcha Herimesi chifukwa ndiye amatsogolera kuyankhula.
And Barnabas they called Jupiter, and Paul, Mercury, because he was the chief speaker.
13 Wansembe wa Zeusi amene nyumba yopembedzera Zeusiyo inali kunja pafupi ndi mzindawo, anabweretsa ngʼombe yayimuna yovekedwa nkhata za maluwa pa chipata cha mzindawo chifukwa iyeyo pamodzi ndi anthu ena onse aja amafuna kudzipereka nsembe kwa Paulo ndi Barnaba.
And the priest of Jupiter, whose image was before the city, brought oxen, with garlands, to the gates; and would, with the multitude, have offered sacrifice to them.
14 Koma Barnaba ndi Paulo atamva zimenezi, anangʼamba zovala zawo, nathamangira pakati pa gulu la anthuwo, akufuwula kuti,
But the Apostles, Barnabas and Paul, hearing of it, rent their mantles, and ran in among the multitude, crying out,
15 “Anthu inu, bwanji mukuchita zimenezi? Ifenso ndife anthu monga inu nomwe. Ife takubweretserani Uthenga Wabwino, kuti musiye zinthu zachabezi ndi kutsata Mulungu wamoyo, amene analenga kumwamba ndi dziko lapansi, nyanja ndi zonse zimene zili mʼmenemo.
and saying, Men, why do you these things? We are your fellow-mortals, and are declaring the glad tidings to you, that you may turn from these vanities to the living God; who made the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all living things which are in them:
16 Kale Iye analola anthu a mitundu ina yonse kutsata njira zawozawo.
who, in former generations, permitted all the nations to walk in their own ways;
17 Komabe wakhala akudzichitira yekha umboni: Iye amaonetsa kukoma mtima kwake pogwetsa mvula kuchokera kumwamba ndi zipatso pa nyengo yake. Amakupatsani chakudya chambiri ndipo amadzaza mitima yanu ndi chimwemwe.”
though he did not leave himself without witness, doing good, and giving us showers of rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.
18 Ngakhale ndi mawu awa, anavutika kuletsa gulu la anthu kuti asapereke nsembe kwa iwo.
And, saying these things, they, with difficulty, restrained the people from sacrificing to them.
19 Kenaka kunabwera Ayuda ena kuchokera ku Antiokeya ndi Ikoniya nakopa gulu la anthu lija. Iwo anamugenda miyala Paulo namukokera kunja kwa mzindawo, kuganiza kuti wafa.
But Jews came thither from Antioch and Iconium, and persuaded the multitude; and having stoned Paul, they dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead.
20 Koma ophunzira atamuzungulira, Pauloyo anayimirira nalowanso mu mzindawo. Mmawa mwake iye ndi Barnaba anachoka ndi kupita ku Derbe.
But, as the disciples were gathered about him, he rose up, and entered into the city; and the next day he departed, with Barnabas, to Derbe.
21 Iwo analalikira Uthenga Wabwino mu mzindawo ndipo anthu ambiri anatembenuka mtima ndi kukhala ophunzira. Kenaka anabwerera ku Lusitra, ku Ikoniya ndi ku Antiokeya.
And having declared the gospel to that city, and made a considerable number of disciples; they returned to Lystra, and to Iconium, and to Antioch,
22 Kumeneko analimbikitsa mitima ya ophunzira ndi kuwapatsa mphamvu kuti akhalebe woona mʼchikhulupiriro. Iwo anati, “Ife tiyenera kudutsa mʼmasautso ambiri kuti tikalowe mu ufumu wa Mulungu.”
confirming the souls of the disciples; exhorting them to continue in the faith, and testifying that it is necessary we should enter into the kingdom of God through many tribulations.
23 Paulo ndi Barnaba anasankha akulu ampingo pa mpingo uliwonse, ndipo atapemphera ndi kusala kudya anawapereka kwa Ambuye amene anamukhulupirira.
And when they had constituted elders for them, in every congregation, having prayed to God, with fasting; they committed them to the Lord, in whom they had believed.
24 Atadutsa Pisidiya, anafika ku Pamfiliya.
And passing through Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.
25 Atalalikira Mawu ku Perga, anapita ku Ataliya.
And having spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.
26 Ku Ataliyako, anakwera sitima ya pamadzi kubwerera ku Antiokeya kumene anayitanidwa mwachisomo cha Mulungu kuti agwire ntchito imene tsopano anali atayitsiriza.
And they sailed thence to Antioch, whence they had been recommended to the grace of God, for that work which they had accomplished.
27 Atangofika ku Antiokeya, anasonkhanitsa pamodzi mpingo ndipo anafotokoza zonse zimene Mulungu anachita kudzera mwa iwo ndiponso mmene Iye anatsekulira a mitundu ina njira ya chikhulupiriro.
And when they were come thither, and had gathered the congregation together, they related what God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.
28 Ndipo anakhala kumeneko ndi ophunzira nthawi yayitali.
And they spent a considerable time there with the disciples.
