< Machitidwe a Atumwi 11 >
1 Atumwi ndi abale a ku Yudeya konse anamva kuti anthu a mitundu ina analandiranso Mawu a Mulungu.
Now the apostles and the brothers who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.
2 Tsono Petro atafika ku Yerusalemu, abale amene anali a mdulidwe anamutsutsa iye,
So when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision faction began disputing with him,
3 ndipo anati, “Iwe unalowa mʼnyumba ya anthu osachita mdulidwe ndi kudya nawo.”
saying, “Yoʋ went into the house of uncircumcised men and ate with them!”
4 Koma Petro anayamba kuwafotokozera zonse mwatsatanetsatane momwe zinachitikira kuti,
But Peter began to explain the situation to them, step by step, saying,
5 “Ine ndimapemphera mu mzinda wa Yopa ndipo ndili ngati wokomoka ndinaona masomphenya. Ndinaona chinthu chokhala ngati chinsalu chachikulu chikutsika kuchokera kumwamba chogwiridwa msonga zake zinayi, ndipo chinatsikira pa ine.
“I was praying in the city of Joppa, and in a trance I saw a vision of an object like a large sheet coming down, being lowered from heaven by its four corners, and it came to me.
6 Ine ndinayangʼana mʼkati mwake ndipo ndinaona nyama za miyendo inayi za mʼdziko lapansi, zirombo, zokwawa, ndi mbalame zamlengalenga.
As I stared at it, I looked closely and saw four-footed animals of the earth, as well as wild beasts, reptiles, and birds of the sky.
7 Kenaka ine ndinamva mawu akuti, ‘Petro, Imirira. Ipha, nudye.’
Then I heard a voice saying to me, ‘Rise, Peter, kill and eat.’
8 “Ine ndinayankha kuti, ‘Ayi, Ambuye! Pakuti chinthu chodetsedwa ndi chonyansa sindinadyepo pakamwa pangapa.’
But I said, ‘Surely not, Lord! For nothing defiled or unclean has ever entered my mouth.’
9 “Mawu ochokera kumwamba ananenanso kachiwiri kuti, ‘Chimene Mulungu wachiyeretsa usanene kuti ndi chodetsedwa.’
The voice from heaven responded to me a second time: ‘Do not regard as defiled what God has made clean.’
10 Zimenezi zinachitika katatu ndipo kenaka zonse zinatengedwa kupita kumwamba.
This happened three times, and then everything was drawn up again into heaven.
11 “Nthawi yomweyo anthu atatu amene anatumidwa kuchokera ku Kaisareya anayima pa nyumba yomwe ndimakhalayo.
And behold, at that very moment three men arrived at the house where I was; they had been sent to me from Caesarea.
12 Mzimu anandiwuza kuti ndisakayike, koma ndipite nawo. Abale asanu ndi mmodzi awa anapitanso nane ndipo tinalowa mʼnyumba ya munthuyo.
The Spirit told me to go with them without any misgivings. These six brothers also went with me, and we went into the man's house.
13 Iye anatiwuza mmene anaonera mngelo atayimirira mʼnyumba mwake ndi kumuwuza kuti, ‘Tumiza anthu ku Yopa kuti akayitane Simoni wotchedwa Petro.
He told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house and saying to him, ‘Send men to Joppa and have them bring back Simon, who is called Peter;
14 Iye adzakuwuza uthenga umene udzapulumutsa iwe ndi a pa banja ako.’
he will speak a message to yoʋ by which yoʋ will be saved, yoʋ and yoʋr entire household.’
15 “Nditangoyamba kuyankhula, Mzimu Woyera anafika pa iwo monga momwe anafikira pa ife poyamba paja.
As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, just as he had fallen upon us at the beginning.
16 Kenaka ndinakumbukira zimene Ambuye ananena kuti, ‘Yohane anabatiza ndi madzi, koma inu mudzabatizidwa ndi Mzimu Woyera.’
Then I remembered what the Lord had said: ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’
17 Tsono ngati Mulungu anawapatsa iwo mphatso yomweyo imene anatipatsa ife, amene tinakhulupirira Ambuye Yesu Khristu, ndine yani kuti nditsutsane ndi Mulungu?”
If then God gave them the same gift that he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, how could I stand in God's way?”
18 Iwo atamva zimenezi analibenso chonena ndipo anayamika Mulungu nati, “Potero Mulungu wapatsa anthu a mitundu ina mwayi wotembenuka mtima ndi kulandira moyo.”
When the apostles and brothers heard this, they ceased their objections and began glorifying God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted the repentance that leads to life.”
19 Tsopano amene anabalalika chifukwa cha mazunzo amene anayamba ataphedwa Stefano, anapita mpaka ku Foinike, ku Kupro ndi ku Antiokeya, ndipo ankalalikira kwa Ayuda okha.
Now those who had been scattered because of the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews.
20 Komabe, ena pakati pawo ochokera ku Kupro ndi ku Kurene anapita ku Antiokeya ndipo iwo anayamba kuyankhulanso kwa Agriki, nawawuza za Uthenga Wabwino wa Ambuye Yesu.
But there were some Cypriot and Cyrenian men among them who went to Antioch and began speaking to the Hellenists, preaching the good news about the Lord Jesus.
21 Mphamvu ya Ambuye inali nawo ndipo anthu ambiri anakhulupirira natembenukira kwa Ambuye.
The hand of the Lord was with them, and a large number of people believed and turned to the Lord.
22 Mbiri imeneyi inamveka ku mpingo wa ku Yerusalemu ndipo iwo anatumiza Barnaba ku Antiokeya.
News of this reached the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas out to go to Antioch.
23 Atafika ndi kuona chisomo cha Mulungu pa iwo, anakondwa ndi kuwalimbikitsa anthu onsewo kuti apitirire kukhala woona mu mtima mwa Ambuye.
When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced and began exhorting all the believers to remain true to the Lord with resolute hearts.
24 Barnabayo anali munthu wabwino, wodzazidwa ndi Mzimu Woyera ndi chikhulupiriro ndipo gulu lalikulu la anthu linabwera kwa Ambuye.
For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a large number of people were added to the Lord.
25 Kenaka Barnaba anapita ku Tarisisi kukafuna Saulo,
Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul.
26 ndipo pamene anamupeza anabwera naye ku Antiokeya. Barnaba ndi Saulo anasonkhana ndi mpingo kwa chaka chimodzi naphunzitsa anthu ambirimbiri. Okhulupirirawo anayamba kutchedwa Akhristu ku Antiokeya.
When he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for an entire year they met with the church and taught a large number of people, and it was in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians.
27 Masiku amenewo ku Antiokeya kunafika aneneri ena ochokera ku Yerusalemu.
In those days some prophets came down to Antioch from Jerusalem.
28 Mmodzi wa iwo dzina lake Agabu, anayimirira ndipo Mzimu anamutsogolera kunenera zamʼtsogolo kuti padzakhala njala yayikulu pa dziko lonse lapansi. (Izi zinachitikadi nthawi ya ulamuliro wa Klaudiyo).
One of them, named Agabus, stood up and indicated by the Spirit that a severe famine was about to come upon the entire world (which indeed took place in the time of Claudius Caesar).
29 Ophunzirawo, aliyense monga mwakupata kwake, anatsimikiza kuthandiza abale okhala ku Yudeya.
So the disciples, each according to his own ability, determined to send relief to the brothers who dwelt in Judea.
30 Izi anazichitadi ndipo anatuma Barnaba ndi Saulo kukapereka mphatsozo kwa akulu a mpingo.
This they did, sending it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
