1 Davide anafunsa kuti, “Kodi alipo amene watsala mʼbanja la Sauli kuti ndimuchitire chifundo chifukwa cha Yonatani?”
David said, “Is there anyone left in Saul's family to whom I may show kindness for Jonathan's sake?”
2 Tsono panali mtumiki wina wa banja la Sauli wotchedwa Ziba. Iwo anamuyitana kuti aonekere pamaso pa Davide, ndipo mfumu inamufunsa kuti, “Kodi ndiwe Ziba?” Iyeyo anayankha kuti, “Ine mtumiki wanu.”
There was in Saul's family a servant whose name was Ziba, and they called him to David. The king said to him, “Are you Ziba?” He replied, “Yes. I am your servant.”
3 Mfumu inafunsa kuti, “Kodi palibe amene watsala wa banja la Sauli amene ndingamuchitire chifundo cha Mulungu?” Ziba anayankha mfumu kuti, “Alipo mwana wa Yonatani, koma ndi wolumala mapazi ake onse.”
So the king said, “Is there not anyone left of Saul's family to whom I may show the kindness of God?” Ziba replied to the king, “Jonathan still has a son, who is lame in his feet.”
4 Mfumu inafunsa kuti, “Ali kuti?” Ziba anayankha kuti, “Iye ali ku nyumba ya Makiri mwana wa Amieli ku Lodebara.”
The king said to him, “Where is he?” Ziba replied to the king, “Look, he is in the house of Machir son of Ammiel in Lo Debar.”
5 Kotero mfumu inamubweretsa kuchokera ku Lodebara, ku nyumba ya Makiri mwana wa Amieli.
Then King David sent and had him brought out of the house of Machir son of Ammiel from Lo Debar.
6 Mefiboseti mwana wa Yonatani, mwana wa Sauli atafika kwa Davide, anawerama pansi kupereka ulemu kwa iye. Davide anati, “Mefiboseti!” Iye anayankha kuti, “Ine mtumiki wanu.”
So Mephibosheth son of Jonathan son of Saul, came to David and bowed down his face to the floor in honor of David. David said, “Mephibosheth.” He answered, “See, I am your servant!”
7 Davide anati kwa iye, “Usachite mantha, pakuti ndidzakuchitira ndithu chifundo chifukwa cha abambo ako Yonatani. Ine ndidzakubwezera iwe dziko lonse limene linali la agogo ako Sauli, ndipo iweyo udzadya ndi ine nthawi zonse.”
David said to him, “Do not be afraid, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father's sake, and I will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather, and you will always eat at my table.”
8 Mefiboseti anawerama pansi ndipo anati, “Mtumiki wanu ndine yani kuti musamale galu wakufa ngati ine?”
Mephibosheth bowed and said, “What is your servant, that you should look with favor on such a dead dog as I am?”
9 Kenaka Davide anayitanitsa Ziba, mtumiki wa Sauli, ndipo anati, “Ine ndapereka kwa chidzukulu cha mbuye wako chilichonse chimene chinali cha Sauli ndi banja lake.
Then the king called to Ziba, Saul's servant, and said to him, “All that belonged to Saul and his family I have given to your master's grandson.
10 Iwe ndi ana ndi antchito anu muzimulimira mʼdziko lake ndipo muzibweretsa zokololazo kuti chidzukulu cha mbuye wako chikhale ndi chakudya. Ndipo Mefiboseti, chidzukulu cha mbuye wako adzadya ndi ine nthawi zonse.” (Tsono Ziba anali ndi ana aamuna khumi ndi asanu ndi antchito makumi awiri).
You, your sons, and your servants must till the land for him and you must harvest the crops so that your master's grandson will have food to eat. For Mephibosheth, your master's grandson, must always eat at my table.” Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.
11 Ndipo Ziba anati kwa mfumu, “Mtumiki wanu adzachita chilichonse chimene mbuye wanga mfumu mudzalamulire wantchito wanu kuti achite.” Kotero Mefiboseti ankadya ndi Davide monga mmodzi wa ana a mfumu.
Then Ziba said to the king, “Your servant will do all that my master the king commands his servant.” The king added, “As for Mephibosheth he will eat at my table, as one of the king's sons.”
12 Mefiboseti anali ndi mwana wamngʼono wamwamuna wotchedwa Mika, ndipo onse a banja la Ziba anali antchito a Mefiboseti.
Mephibosheth had a young son whose name was Mika. All who lived in the house of Ziba were servants of Mephibosheth.
13 Ndipo Mefiboseti anakhala mu Yerusalemu chifukwa nthawi zonse amadya ndi mfumu. Iye anali wolumala mapazi ake onse.
So Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, and he always ate at the king's table, though he was lame in both his feet.
