< 2 Mafumu 23 >

1 Pamenepo mfumu inayitanitsa akuluakulu onse a ku Yuda ndi Yerusalemu.
So the king sent messengers who gathered to him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

Then the king went up to the house of Yahweh, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, prophets, and all the people, from small to great. He then read in their hearing all the words of the book of the Covenant that had been found in the house of Yahweh.
3 Mfumu inayimirira pambali pa chipilala ndi kuchita pangano pamaso pa Yehova kuti idzatsatira Yehova ndi kusunga malamulo, mawu ndi malangizo ake ndi mtima wonse ndi moyo wonse, kukwaniritsa mawu a mʼpanganoli, olembedwa mʼbukuli. Pamenepo anthu onse anadzipereka kutsatira panganoli.
The king stood by the pillar and made a covenant before Yahweh, to walk after Yahweh and to keep his commandments, his regulations, and his statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to confirm the words of this covenant that were written in this book. So all the people agreed to stand by the covenant.
4 Mfumu inalamula wansembe wamkulu Hilikiya, ansembe othandizana naye ndi alonda a pa khomo kuti achotse mʼNyumba ya Yehova ziwiya zonse zopembedzera Baala ndi Asera ndiponso mafano a zinthu zamlengalenga.
The king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, the priests under him, and the gatekeepers to bring out of the temple of Yahweh all the vessels that were made for Baal and Asherah, and for all the stars of heaven. He burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields in the Kidron Valley and carried their ashes to Bethel.
5 Iye anachotsa ansembe a mafano amene anayikidwa ndi mafumu a Yuda kuti azifukiza lubani ku malo opembedzera mafano a ku mizinda ya ku Yuda ndi kumalo ozungulira Yerusalemu, amene ankafukiza lubani kwa Baala, dzuwa, mwezi, nyenyezi ndi zinthu zonse zamlengalenga.
He got rid of the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah had chosen to burn incense at the high places in the cities of Judah and in the places around Jerusalem—those who burned incense to Baal, to the sun and the moon, to the planets, and to all the stars of heaven.
Anapera fanolo ndi kukataya phulusa lake pa manda a anthu wamba.
He brought out the Asherah pole from the temple of Yahweh, outside Jerusalem to the Kidron Valley and burned it there. He beat it to dust and threw that dust onto the graves of the common people.
7 Iye anagwetsanso tinyumba ta ochita zachiwerewere, timene tinali mʼNyumba ya Yehova, kumene akazi ankalukirako mikanjo yovala popembedza Asera.
He cleared out the rooms of the cultic prostitutes who were in the temple of Yahweh, where the women wove garments for Asherah.
8 Yosiya anabweretsanso ansembe onse kuchokera mʼmizinda ya Yuda, nawononga malo opembedzera mafano, kuyambira ku Geba mpaka ku Beeriseba, kumene ansembe ankafukizako lubani.
Josiah brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba. He destroyed the high places at the gates that were at the entrance to the gate of Joshua (the city governor), on the left side of the city gate.
9 Ngakhale kuti ansembe a ku malo opembedzera mafanowo sanawalole kuti atumikire pa guwa lansembe la Yehova mu Yerusalemu, koma ankadya buledi wopanda yisiti pamodzi ndi ansembe anzawo.
Although the priests of those high places were not allowed to serve at the altar of Yahweh in Jerusalem, they ate unleavened bread among their brothers.
10 Mfumu Yosiya anawononganso Tofeti, amene anali ku Chigwa cha Hinomu, kuti wina aliyense asagwiritse ntchito malowo popereka mwana wake wamwamuna kapena wamkazi pa moto kwa Moleki.
Josiah defiled Topheth, which is in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, so that no one might cause his son or his daughter to pass through the fire as a sacrifice to Molech.
Ndipo Yosiya anatentha magaleta opembedzera dzuwa.
He took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun. They had been in an area at the entrance to the temple of Yahweh, near the room of Nathan-Melek, the chamberlain. Josiah burned the chariots of the sun.
12 Anagwetsa maguwa amene mafumu a Yuda anawamanga pa denga pafupi ndi chipinda chapamwamba cha Ahazi, ndiponso maguwa amene Manase anamanga mʼmabwalo awiri a Nyumba ya Yehova. Yosiya anawachotsa kumeneko nawaphwanya ndi kutaya zidutswa zake mʼChigwa cha Kidroni.
Josiah the king destroyed the altars that were on the roof of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars that Manasseh had made in the two courts of the temple of Yahweh. Josiah smashed them into pieces and threw them into the Kidron Valley.
The king ruined the high places east of Jerusalem, south of the mount of corruption that Solomon the king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth, the detestable idol of the Sidonians; for Chemosh, the detestable idol of Moab; and for Molech, the detestable idol of the people of Ammon.
He broke the stone pillars into pieces and cut down the Asherah poles and he filled those places with the bones of human beings.
15 Ngakhalenso guwa lansembe la ku Beteli, malo opembedzera mafano amene anapanga Yeroboamu mwana wa Nebati, amene anachimwitsa Israeli, Yosiya anawononga guwalo ndi malo opembedzera mafanowo. Iye anatentha malo opembedzera mafanowo ndi kuwapera ndipo anatenthanso fano la Asera.
Josiah also completely destroyed the altar that was at Bethel and the high place that Jeroboam son of Nebat (the one who made Israel to sin) had constructed. He also burned that altar and the high place and beat it to dust. He also burned the Asherah pole.
16 Kenaka Yosiya anayangʼanayangʼana ndipo ataona manda amene anali pomwepo, mʼmbali mwa phiri, analamula kuti afukule mandawo ndi kutulutsa mafupa kuti awatenthe paguwapo kuti alidetse, potsatira mawu a Yehova amene munthu wa Mulungu analoseratu za zimenezi.
As Josiah looked over the area, he noticed the graves that were on the hillside. He sent men to take the bones from the graves; then he burned them on the altar, which defiled it. This was according to the word of Yahweh which the man of God had spoken, the man who spoke of these things beforehand.
17 Mfumu inafunsa kuti, “Kodi chizindikiro cha manda chimene ndikuwaonawo ndi chayani?” Anthu a mu mzindamo anayankha kuti, “Ndi chizindikiro cha manda a munthu wa Mulungu wochokera ku Yuda amene ananeneratu zimene inu mwalichita guwa lansembe la Beteli.”
Then he said, “What monument is that I see?” The men of the city told him, “That is the grave of the man of God who came from Judah and spoke about these things that you have just done against the altar of Bethel.”
18 Mfumuyo inati, “Alekeni manda amenewo, munthu asachotse mafupa ake.” Choncho anawasiya mafupa akewo pamodzi ndi mafupa a mneneri wa ku Samariya uja.
So Josiah said, “Let it alone. No one should move his bones.” So they let his bones alone, along with the bones of the prophet who had come from Samaria.
19 Monga momwe Yosiya anachitira ku Beteli, anachotsa ndi kuwononga nyumba za milungu zonse ndi malo opembedzera mafano amene mafumu anamanga mʼmizinda ya ku Samariya omwe anakwiyitsa Yehova.
Then Josiah removed all the houses on the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made, and that provoked Yahweh to anger. He did to them exactly what had been done at Bethel.
20 Yosiya anapha ansembe onse amene ankatumikira ku malo opembedzera mafano, anawaphera pa maguwa awo ndi kutentha mafupa awo. Kenaka iye anapita ku Yerusalemu.
He slaughtered all the priests of the high places on the altars and he burned human bones on them. Then he returned to Jerusalem.
21 Mfumu inalamula anthu onse kuti, “Chitani Chikondwerero cha Paska kulemekeza Yehova Mulungu wanu, motsatira zomwe zalembedwa mʼBuku la Chipangano.”
Then the king commanded all the people, saying, “Keep the Passover to Yahweh your God, as it is written in this Book of the Covenant.”
22 Paska yotere inali isanachitikepo kuyambira nthawi ya oweruza amene anatsogolera Israeli, kapenanso nthawi yonse ya mafumu a Yuda sipanachitikenso Paska ngati imeneyo.
Such a Passover celebration had never been held from the days of the judges who ruled Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel or Judah.
23 Koma mʼchaka cha 18 cha Mfumu Yosiya, Paska imeneyi anachitira Yehova mu Yerusalemu.
But in the eighteenth year of King Josiah this Passover of Yahweh was celebrated in Jerusalem.
24 Kuwonjezera apa, Yosiya anachotsa anthu a mawula, woyankhula ndi mizimu ya anthu akufa, milungu ya mʼnyumba, mafano ndiponso zinthu zonse zonyansa zopezeka mu Yuda ndi Yerusalemu. Iye anachita izi pokwaniritsa lamulo lolembedwa mʼbuku limene Hilikiya analipeza mʼNyumba ya Yehova.
Josiah also banished those who talked with the dead or with spirits. He also banished the fetishes, the idols, and all the disgusting things that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, so as to confirm the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the house of Yahweh.
25 Yosiyayo asanalowe ufumu, ngakhale atamwalira, panalibenso mfumu ina yofanana naye imene inatembenukira kwa Yehova monga anachitira, ndi mtima wake wonse, ndi moyo wake wonse, ndi mphamvu zake zonse, motsatira Malamulo onse a Mose.
Before Josiah, there had been no king like him, who turned to Yahweh with all his heart, all his soul, and all his might, who followed all the law of Moses. Nor did any king like Josiah arise after him.
26 Komabe Yehova sanachotse mkwiyo wake woopsa, umene anali nawo pa Yuda chifukwa cha zonse zimene anachita Manase poputa mkwiyo wa Mulungu.
Nevertheless, Yahweh did not turn away from the burning of his fierce anger, which burned against Judah because of all that Manasseh had done to provoke him to anger.
27 Choncho Yehova anati, “Ndidzawachotsanso anthu a ku Yuda pamaso panga monga ndinachotsera anthu a ku Israeli ndipo ndidzawukana mzinda wa Yerusalemu, mzinda umene ndinawusankha, pamodzi ndi Nyumba ino imene ndinati, ‘Dzina langa lidzakhala mʼmenemo.’”
So Yahweh said, “I will also remove Judah out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and I will throw away this city that I have chosen, Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, 'My name will be there.'”
As for the other matters concerning Josiah, everything that he did, are they not written in the book of the events of the kings of Judah?
Mfumu Yosiya anapita kukachita naye nkhondo, koma Neko anakumana naye ndi kumupha ku Megido.
In his days, Pharaoh Necho, king of Egypt, went to fight against the king of Assyria at the Euphrates River. King Josiah went to meet Necho in battle, and Necho killed him at Megiddo.
30 Atumiki a Yosiyayo ananyamula mtembo wake mu galeta kuchokera ku Megido mpaka ku Yerusalemu ndipo anamuyika mʼmanda akeake. Ndipo anthu a mʼdzikomo anatenga Yehowahazi mwana wa Yosiya namudzoza, ndipo iye analowa ufumu mʼmalo mwa abambo ake.
Josiah's servants carried him dead in a chariot from Megiddo, brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own grave. Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz son of Josiah, anointed him, and made him king in his father's place.
31 Yehowahazi anakhala mfumu ali ndi 23 ndipo analamulira mu Yerusalemu miyezi itatu. Amayi ake anali Hamutali, mwana wa Yeremiya wa ku Libina.
Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hamutal; she was the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
32 Iye anachita zoyipa pamaso pa Yehova monga momwe anachitira makolo ake.
Jehoahaz did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh, like everything that his ancestors had done.
33 Farao Neko anamuyika mʼndende ku Ribula mʼdziko la Hamati kuti asalamulirenso mu Yerusalemu. Farao analamula Yuda kuti azikhoma msonkho wa siliva wolemera makilogalamu 3,400, ndiponso golide wolemera makilogalamu 34.
Pharaoh Necho put him in chains at Riblah in the land of Hamath, so that he might not reign in Jerusalem. Then Necho fined Judah one hundred talents of silver and one talent of gold.
34 Farao Neko anayika Eliyakimu mwana wa Yosiya kuti akhale mfumu mʼmalo mwa abambo ake Yosiya, ndipo anasintha dzina lake kukhala Yehoyakimu. Koma iye anatenga Yehowahazi kupita naye ku Igupto ndipo anakafera kumeneko.
Pharaoh Necho made Eliakim son of Josiah king in the place of Josiah his father, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. But he took Jehoahaz away to Egypt, and Jehoahaz died there.
35 Yehoyakimu anapereka kwa Farao Neko siliva ndi golide amene anamufuna uja. Koma kuti iye apereke zimenezi, amankhometsa msonkho mʼdziko mwakemo ndipo amalandira siliva ndi golide kuchokera kwa anthu a mʼdzikomo molingana ndi chuma cha munthu aliyense.
Jehoiakim paid the silver and gold to Pharaoh. In order to meet the demand of Pharaoh, Jehoikim taxed the land and he forced each man among the people of the land to pay him the silver and gold according to their assessments.
36 Yehoyakimu anali wa zaka 25 pamene anakhala mfumu ndipo analamulira mu Yerusalemu zaka 11. Amayi ake anali Zebuda, mwana wa Pedaya wa ku Ruma.
Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Zebidah; she was the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.
37 Iye anachita zoyipa pamaso pa Yehova monga momwe anachitira makolo ake.
Jehoiakim did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh, just as his ancestors had done.
