1 Rehobowamu atafika ku Yerusalemu anasonkhanitsa asilikali 180,000 a fuko la Yuda ndi Benjamini kuti akachite nkhondo ndi Israeli, kuti abwezeretse ufumu kwa Rehobowamu.
And Rehoboam comes to Jerusalem, and assembles the house of Judah and Benjamin—one hundred and eighty thousand chosen warriors—to fight with Israel, to bring back the kingdom to Rehoboam.
2 Koma Yehova anayankhula ndi munthu wa Mulungu Semaya kuti,
And a word of YHWH is to Shemaiah, a man of God, saying,
3 “Kawuze Rehobowamu mwana wa Solomoni mfumu ya Yuda ndi Aisraeli onse ali mu Yuda ndi Benjamini kuti,
“Speak to Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,
4 ‘Yehova akuti: Musapite kukamenyana ndi abale anu. Pitani kwanu, aliyense wa inu, pakuti izi ndikuchita ndine.’” Choncho anamvera mawu a Yehova ndi kubwerera osapita kukamenyana ndi Yeroboamu.
Thus said YHWH: You do not go up nor fight with your brothers! Let each return to his house, for this thing has been from Me”; and they hear the words of YHWH, and turn back from going against Jeroboam.
5 Rehobowamu amakhala mu Yerusalemu ndipo anamanga mizinda ya chitetezo iyi mu Yuda:
And Rehoboam dwells in Jerusalem, and builds cities for a bulwark in Judah,
6 Betelehemu, Etamu, Tekowa,
indeed, he builds Beth-Lehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
7 Beti Zuri, Soko, Adulamu,
and Beth-Zur, and Shocho, and Adullam,
8 Gati, Maresa, Zifi,
and Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
9 Adoraimu, Lakisi, Azeka,
and Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
10 Zora, Ayaloni ndi Hebroni. Iyi ndiye inali mizinda yotetezedwa ya Yuda ndi Benjamini.
and Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, that [are] in Judah and in Benjamin, cities of bulwarks.
11 Iye anakhwimitsa chitetezo cha mizindayi ndipo anayikamo atsogoleri a ankhondo, pamodzi ndi chakudya, mafuta a olivi ndi vinyo.
And he strengthens the bulwarks, and puts leaders in them, and treasures of food, and oil, and wine,
12 Mʼmizinda yonse anayikamo zishango zikuluzikulu ndi mikondo, ndipo anachititsa kuti mizindayo ikhale yamphamvu. Choncho iye amalamulira Yuda ndi Benjamini.
and in each and every city [he puts] bucklers and spears, and strengthens them very greatly; and he has Judah and Benjamin.
13 Ansembe ndi Alevi a mʼmadera onse a Israeli anakhala mbali ya Rehobowamu.
And the priests and the Levites that [are] in all Israel have stationed themselves by him, out of all their border,
14 Alevi anasiya malo awo owetera ziweto ndi katundu wawo, ndi kubwera ku Yuda ndi ku Yerusalemu chifukwa Yeroboamu ndi ana ake anawakana kukhala ansembe a Yehova.
for the Levites have left their outskirts and their possession, and they come to Judah and to Jerusalem, for Jeroboam and his sons have cast them off from acting as priests for YHWH,
15 Ndipo iye anasankha ansembe akeake a pa malo opatulika ndi a mafano a mbuzi ndi mwana wangʼombe amene anapanga.
and he establishes for himself priests for high places, and for goat [idols] and for calf [idols] that he made.
16 Anthu ochokera fuko lililonse la Israeli amene anatsimikiza mitima yawo kufunafuna Yehova Mulungu wa Israeli, ankapitabe ku Yerusalemu kukapereka nsembe kwa Yehova, Mulungu wa makolo awo.
And after them, out of all the tribes of Israel, those giving their heart to seek YHWH, God of Israel, have come to Jerusalem to sacrifice to YHWH, God of their father.
17 Iwo analimbikitsa ufumu wa Yuda, ndipo anathandiza Rehobowamu mwana wa Solomoni kwa zaka zitatu. Pa nthawi imeneyi iye amatsatira zochita za Davide ndi Solomoni.
And they strengthen the kingdom of Judah, and strengthen Rehoboam son of Solomon, for three years, because they walked in the way of David and Solomon for three years.
18 Rehobowamu anakwatira Mahalati, amene abambo ake anali Yerimoti, mwana wa Davide, ndipo amayi ake anali Abihaili, mwana wa Eliabu, mwana wa Yese.
And Rehoboam takes a wife for himself, Mahalath, child of Jerimoth son of David, [and of] Abigail daughter of Eliab son of Jesse.
19 Mkaziyo anamubereka ana aamuna awa: Yeusi, Semariya ndi Zahamu.
And she bears sons to him: Jeush, and Shamaria, and Zaham.
20 Kenaka anakwatira Maaka, mwana wamkazi wa Abisalomu, amene anamubereka Abiya, Atai, Ziza ndi Selomiti.
And after her he has taken Maachah daughter of Absalom, and she bears to him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
21 Rehobowamu ankamukonda Maaka mwana wa Abisalomu kuposa aliyense mwa akazi ake ndi azikazi. Iye anali ndi akazi 18, azikazi 60, ana aamuna 28 ndi ana aakazi 60.
And Rehoboam loves Maachah daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines—for he has taken eighteen wives and sixty concubines—and he begets twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.
22 Rehobowamu anasankha Abiya mwana wa Maaka kuti akhale mtsogoleri pa abale ake, ndi cholinga choti adzakhale mfumu.
And Rehoboam appoints Abijah son of Maachah for head, for leader among his brothers, for to cause him to reign.
23 Iye anachita mwanzeru, pomwaza ena mwa ana ake ku madera onse a Yuda ndi Benjamini, ndi ku mizinda yonse yotetezedwa. Iye anawapatsa zinthu zambiri ndiponso anawafunira akazi ambiri.
And he has understanding, and disperses from all his sons to all lands of Judah and Benjamin, to all cities of the bulwarks, and gives provision in abundance to them; and he asks for a multitude of wives [for them].
