1 Samueli 31
1 Tsono Afilisti anachitanso nkhondo ndi Aisraeli ndipo Aisraeli anathawa Afilistiwo, kotero kuti ambiri anaphedwa pa phiri la Gilibowa.
And the Philistines are fighting against Israel, and the men of Israel flee from the face of the Philistines, and fall wounded in Mount Gilboa,
2 Afilisti anapanikiza kwambiri Sauli ndi ana ake, ndipo anapha Yonatani, Abinadabu ndi Maliki-Suwa.
and the Philistines follow Saul and his sons, and the Philistines strike Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.
3 Nkhondo inakula kwambiri mozungulira Sauli ndipo pamene anthu amauta anamupeza, anamuvulaza kwambiri.
And the battle is hard against Saul, and the archers find him—men with bow—and he is greatly pained by the archers;
4 Tsono Sauli anawuza mnyamata wake wonyamula zida zake kuti, “Solola lupanga lako undiphe kuopa kuti anthu osachita mdulidwewa angabwere kudzandizunza ine.” Koma mnyamata wonyamula zida uja anachita mantha kwambiri ndipo sanathe kutero. Choncho Sauli anatenga lupanga lake lomwe nagwerapo.
and Saul says to the bearer of his weapons, “Draw your sword, and pierce me with it, lest they come—these uncircumcised—and have pierced me, and rolled themselves on me”; and the bearer of his weapons has not been willing, for he is greatly afraid, and Saul takes the sword, and falls on it.
5 Mnyamata wonyamula zida zake uja ataona kuti Sauli wafa, nayenso anadzigwetsera pa lupanga lake nafa naye limodzi.
And the bearer of his weapons sees that Saul [is] dead, and he falls—he also—on his sword, and dies with him;
6 Motero Sauli ndi ana ake atatu, wonyamula zida zake pamodzi ndi anthu ake onse anafera limodzi pa tsikulo.
and Saul dies, and three of his sons, and the bearer of his weapons, also all his men, together on that day.
7 Pamene Aisraeli amene anali tsidya lina la chigwa ndi amene anali tsidya la chigwa cha Yorodani anaona kuti gulu la ankhondo la Aisraeli lathawa komanso kuti Sauli ndi ana ake aphedwa, nawonso anathawa kusiya mizinda yawo. Ndipo Afilisti anabwera kudzakhalamo.
And they see—the men of Israel, who [are] beyond the valley, and who [are] beyond the Jordan—that the men of Israel have fled, and that Saul and his sons have died, and they forsake the cities and flee, and Philistines come in, and dwell in them.
8 Mmawa mwake, Afilisti atabwera kudzatenga zinthu za anthu ophedwa anapeza Sauli ndi ana ake atatu atafa pa phiri la Gilibowa.
And it comes to pass on the next day, that the Philistines come to strip the wounded, and they find Saul and his three sons fallen on Mount Gilboa,
9 Iwo anadula mutu wake ndi kumuvula zida zake zankhondo. Ndipo anatumiza amithenga mʼdziko lonse la Afilisti kukafalitsa nkhani yabwinoyi kwa mafano awo ndi kwa anthu awo.
and they cut off his head, and strip off his weapons, and send [them] into the land of the surrounding Philistines, to proclaim tidings [in] the house of their idols, and [among] the people;
10 Iwo anayika zida zake zankhondo mʼnyumba yopembedzera Asitoreti, ndipo thupi lake analikhomera pa khoma la mzinda wa Beti-Sani.
and they place his weapons [in] the house of Ashtaroth, and they have fixed his body on the wall of Beth-Shan.
11 Pamene anthu a ku Yabesi Giliyadi anamva zimene Afilisti anachitira Sauli,
And they hear regarding it—the inhabitants of Jabesh-Gilead—that which the Philistines have done to Saul,
12 anthu awo onse olimba mtima anayenda usiku wonse kupita ku Beti-Sani. Anakachotsa mtembo wa Sauli ndi mitembo ya ana ake pa khoma la mzinda wa Beti-Sani, ndipo anabwera nayo ku Yabesi kumene anayitentha ndi moto.
and all the men of valor arise, and go all the night, and take the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, from the wall of Beth-Shan, and come to Jabesh, and burn them there,
13 Pambuyo pake anatenga mafupa awo ndi kuwakwirira pansi pa mtengo wabwemba ku Yabesi, ndipo anasala kudya masiku asanu ndi awiri.
and they take their bones, and bury [them] under the tamarisk in Jabesh, and fast seven days.
