1 Samueli 14
1 Tsiku lina Yonatani mwana wa Sauli anawuza mnyamata wake womunyamulira zida zake za nkhondo kuti, “Tiye tiwoloke tipite ku kaboma ka Afilisti tsidya ilo.” Koma iye sanawuze abambo ake.
Now it came to pass one day that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man that bore his armour, Come and let us go over to the Philistines' garrison which is on the other side. But he did not tell his father.
2 Sauli ankakhala mʼmalire a Gibeya pa tsinde pa mtengo wamakangadza ku Migironi. Anthu amene anali naye analipo 600.
And Saul abode at the extreme end of Gibeah under the pomegranate-tree which [was] in Migron; and the people that were with him were about six hundred men.
3 Pakati pawo panalinso Ahiya amene ankavala efodi. Iye anali mwana wa Ahitubi, mʼbale wake wa Ikabodi mwana wa Finehasi, mwana wa Eli, wansembe wa Yehova wa ku Silo. Koma palibe amene anadziwa kuti Yonatani wachoka.
(And Ahijah the son of Ahitub, Ichabod's brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, Jehovah's priest in Shiloh, wore the ephod.) And the people did not know that Jonathan was gone.
4 Pa mpata pamene Yonatani ankafuna kudutsa kukafika ku kaboma ka nkhondo ka Afilisti kunali thanthwe lotsetsereka mbali ina ndi lina lotsetsereka mbali inayo. Thanthwe limodzi linkatchedwa Bozezi ndipo linalo linkatchedwa Seni.
Now between the passes by which Jonathan sought to go over to the Philistines' garrison there was a sharp rock on the one side and a sharp rock on the other side; and the name of the one [was] Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh.
5 Thanthwe limodzi linali chakumpoto kuyangʼanana ndi Mikimasi, ndipo thanthwe linalo linali chakummwera kuyangʼanana ndi Geba.
The one crag [formed] a pillar on the north opposite to Michmash, and the other on the south opposite to Geba.
6 Yonatani anawuza mnyamata wake womunyamulira zida uja kuti, “Tiye tiwoloke tipite ku kaboma ka anthu osachita mdulidwewo. Mwina Yehova adzatigwirira ntchito. Palibe chomuletsa Yehova kutipulumutsa, ngakhale tikhale ambiri kapena ochepa.”
And Jonathan said to the young man that bore his armour, Come, and let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised: perhaps Jehovah will work for us; for there is no restraint to Jehovah to save by many or by few.
7 Mnyamata uja anati, “Chitani chilichonse chimene mtima wanu ukhumba. Ine ndili nanu pamodzi. Chimene mtima wanu ukhumba ndi chomwenso ine ndikhumba.”
And his armour-bearer said to him, Do all that is in thy heart; turn thee; behold, I am with thee according to thy heart.
8 Yonatani anati, “Tiye tsono tiwoloke kupita kumene kuli anthuwo ndi kukadzionetsa kwa iwo.
Then said Jonathan, Behold, we will pass over to the men, and we will shew ourselves to them.
9 Akatiwuza kuti, ‘Imani pomwepo mpaka tikupezeni,’ ife tikangoyima pomwepo osapita kumene kuli iwoko.
If they say thus to us, Stand still until we come to you, then we will stay in our place, and will not go up to them.
10 Koma akadzati, ‘Bwerani kuno,’ ndiye ife tikapitedi, chifukwa ichi chidzakhala chizindikiro chakuti Yehova wapereka mʼmanja mwathu.”
And if they say thus, Come up to us, then we will go up; for Jehovah has given them into our hand; and this shall be the sign to us.
11 Choncho awiriwa anadzionetsa ku kaboma ka nkhondo ka Afilisti. Tsono Afilistiwo anati, “Taonani! Aheberi akutuluka mʼmaenje mʼmene anabisala.”
And both of them shewed themselves to the garrison of the Philistines; and the Philistines said, Behold, the Hebrews come forth out of the holes where they had hid themselves.
12 Anthu a ku kaboma kaja anafuwula kwa Yonatani ndi mnyamata wake uja kuti, “Bwerani kuno ndipo tikuphunzitsani phunziro.” Ndipo Yonatani anati kwa mnyamata wake. “Nditsate pakuti Yehova wapereka Afilistiwa mʼmanja mwa Aisraeli.”
And the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armour-bearer and said, Come up to us, and we will shew you something. And Jonathan said to his armour-bearer, Come up after me; for Jehovah has delivered them into the hand of Israel.
13 Choncho Yonatani anakwera mokwawa, ndipo mnyamata wake uja ankamutsata. Tsono Yonatani anathira nkhondo Afilisti aja namawagwetsa, ndipo mnyamata wake uja ankawapha pambuyo pa iyeyo.
And Jonathan climbed up upon his hands and upon his feet, and his armour-bearer after him; and they fell before Jonathan; and his armour-bearer slew after him.
14 Nthawi yoyambayo Yonatani ndi mnyamata wake uja anapha anthu makumi awiri ndipo anawaphera pa malo ochepa okwanira ngati theka la ekala.
And that first slaughter which Jonathan and his armour-bearer wrought was about twenty men, as it were on the half-furrow of an acre of land.
15 Tsono gulu lonse la ankhondo, ndiye kuti iwo amene anali mʼmisasa ndi mʼminda ndiponso iwo amene anali ku kaboma ka ankhondo kaja, onse anagwidwa ndi mantha aakulu. Dzikonso linagwedezeka, choncho anthu anachita mantha koopsa.
And there was trembling in the camp, in the field, and among all the people; the garrison, and the ravagers, they also trembled, and the earth quaked; for it was a trembling [from] God.
16 Alonda a Sauli a ku Gibeya dziko la Benjamini atangomwaza maso anangoona chigulu cha asilikali chikumwazikana uku ndi uku.
And the watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin looked, and behold, the multitude melted away, and they went on slaying one another.
17 Kenaka Sauli anawawuza anthu amene anali naye kuti, “Awerengeni asilikali kuti muona amene wachoka.” Atawawerenga anapeza kuti Yonatani ndi mnyamata wake womunyamulira zida zake za nkhondo palibe.
Then said Saul to the people that were with him, Muster now, and see who is gone from us. And they mustered, and behold, Jonathan and his armour-bearer were not there.
18 Tsono Sauli anawuza Ahiya kuti, “Bwera nalo Bokosi la Mulungulo.” (Nthawi imeneyo nʼkuti efodiyo ili ndi Ahiya pamaso pa Aisraeli).
And Saul said to Ahijah, Bring hither the ark of God. For the ark of God was at that time with the children of Israel.
19 Pamene Sauli amayankhula ndi wansembe, phokoso limanka likulirakulira mu msasa wa Afilisti, Kotero Sauli anati kwa wansembe, “Leka kuwombeza.”
And it came to pass while Saul talked to the priest, that the noise which was in the camp of the Philistines went on and increased; and Saul said to the priest, Withdraw thy hand.
20 Ndipo Sauli ndi asilikali onse amene anali naye anasonkhana kupita kukamenya nkhondo, ndipo anangoona chisokonezo chachikulu kwambiri. Afilisti akuphana okhaokha.
And Saul and all the people that were with him were called together, and they came to the battle; and behold, every man's sword was against his fellow, a very great confusion.
21 Aheberi ena amene kale anali ndi Afilisti mpaka kukakhala ku misasa yawo, iwonso anatembenuka nakhala pamodzi ndi Aisraeli amene ankatsata Sauli ndi Yonatani.
And there were Hebrews with the Philistines before that time, who had gone up with them into the camp round about; and they also [turned] to be with the Israelites who were with Saul and Jonathan.
22 Ngakhale Aisraeli amene ankabisala ku dziko lamapiri la Efereimu atamva kuti Afilisti akuthawa, nawonso anawathamangitsa Afilistiwo nawathira nkhondo.
And all the men of Israel who had hid themselves in mount Ephraim heard that the Philistines fled, and they also followed hard after them in the battle.
23 Nkhondo inapitirira mpaka kufika ku Beti-Aveni. Choncho Yehova anapulumutsa Aisraeli tsiku limenelo.
And Jehovah saved Israel that day; and the battle passed over beyond Beth-Aven.
24 Koma asilikali a Israeli anavutika tsiku limenelo, chifukwa Sauli anawalumbirira Aisraeli kuti, “Wotembereredwa munthu aliyense amene adzadya kusanade, ine ndisanalipsire adani anga!” Kotero palibe wankhondo aliyense amene analawa chakudya.
But the men of Israel were distressed that day. Now Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth food until evening, and [until] I am avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted food.
25 Gulu lonse la ankhondo linalowa mʼnkhalango mmene munali uchi.
And all they of the land came to a wood; and there was honey on the ground.
26 Atalowa mʼnkhalango, anaona uchi ukukha, koma palibe amene anadya, pakuti ankaopa lumbiro lija.
And the people had come into the wood, and behold, the honey flowed; but no man put his hand to his mouth, for the people feared the oath.
27 Koma Yonatani sanamve kuti abambo ake anawalumbirira anthu aja choncho anatenga ndodo yake imene inali mʼdzanja lake ndipo anayipisa mu chisa cha njuchi. Choncho iye anadya uchiwo ndipo mʼmaso mwake munayera.
But Jonathan had not heard when his father adjured the people; and he put forth the end of his staff which was in his hand, and dipped it in the honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth, and his eyes became bright.
28 Kenaka mmodzi mwa Asilikali anamuwuza kuti, “Abambo ako alumbirira anthu nati, ‘Wotembereredwa munthu aliyense amene adye chakudya lero.’ Nʼchifukwa chake anthu alefuka.”
Then answered one of the people and said, Thy father strictly adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth food this day; and the people are faint.
29 Yonatani anati, “Abambo anga achita chinthu choyipira dziko. Taonani mʼmaso mwanga mwayera chifukwa ndalawa uchiwu pangʼono.
And Jonathan said, My father has troubled the land: see, I pray you, that mine eyes are bright, because I tasted a little of this honey.
30 Zikanakhala zabwino kwambiri anthuwa akanadya lero zofunkha za adani awo. Zikanatero tikanapha Afilisti ochuluka.”
How much more, if the people had eaten freely to-day of the spoil of their enemies which they found? for would there not now have been a much greater slaughter among the Philistines?
31 Tsiku limenelo Aisraeli anapha Afilisti kuchokera ku Mikimasi mpaka ku Ayaloni. Koma Aisraeliwo analefuka kwambiri ndi njala.
And they smote the Philistines that day from Michmash to Ajalon; and the people were very faint.
32 Choncho iwo anathamangira pa zofunkha ndipo anatenga nkhosa, ngʼombe ndi ana angʼombe. Iwo anazipha zonsezi nazidya pamodzi ndi magazi omwe.
And the people fell on the spoil, and took sheep, and oxen, and calves, and slaughtered them on the ground; and the people ate [them] with the blood.
33 Koma anthu ena anawuza Sauli kuti, “Taona anthu akuchimwira Yehova pakudya nyama yomwe ili ndi magazi.” Ndipo Sauli anati, “Mwaonetsa kusakhulupirika. Tsopano gubuduzirani mwala waukulu pano.”
And they told Saul, saying, Behold, the people sin against Jehovah, in that they eat with the blood. And he said, Ye have acted perversely: roll me now a great stone.
34 Kenaka Sauli anati, “Mwazikanani pakati pa anthu ndi kukawawuza kuti aliyense abwere ndi ngʼombe yake kapena nkhosa yake, ndipo adzayiphe pomwe pano ndi kuyidya. Musachimwire Yehova pakudya nyama imene ili ndi magazi.” Kotero aliyense anabwera ndi ngʼombe yake usiku womwewo ndi kuyipha pomwepo.
And Saul said, Disperse yourselves among the people, and say to them, Bring near to me every man his ox, and every man his sheep, and slaughter them here, and eat; and sin not against Jehovah in eating with the blood. And all the people brought every man his ox with him that night, and slaughtered [them] there.
35 Ndipo Sauli anamangira Yehova guwa. Ili linali guwa loyamba limene Sauli anamangira Yehova.
And Saul built an altar to Jehovah: this was the first altar he built to Jehovah.
36 Sauli anati, “Tiyeni titsatire Afilisti usikuwu ndi kulanda zinthu zawo mpaka mmawa. Tisasiyepo wamoyo ndi mmodzi yemwe.” Ankhondowo anayankha kuti, “Chitani chilichonse chimene chikukomerani.” Koma wansembe anati, “Tipemphe uphungu kwa Mulungu poyamba.”
And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and plunder them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatsoever is good in thy sight. Then said the priest, Let us come near hither to God.
37 Choncho Sauli anafunsa Mulungu kuti, “Kodi ndiwatsatire Afilisti? Kodi mukawapereka mʼmanja mwathu?” Koma Mulungu sanamuyankhe tsiku limenelo.
And Saul inquired of God, Shall I go down after the Philistines? wilt thou give them into the hand of Israel? But he did not answer him that day.
38 Choncho Sauli anati, “Bwerani kuno nonse atsogoleri a anthu, ndipo tiyeni tione kuti kodi tchimo limeneli lachitika bwanji lero?
And Saul said, Draw ye near hither, all the heads of the people; and know and see wherein this sin has been this day.
39 Pali Yehova amene amapulumutsa Israeli, ngakhale tchimolo litapezeka ndi mwana wanga Yonatani, iye afe ndithu.” Koma palibe ndi mmodzi yemwe mwa anthuwo amene anamuyankha.
For, [as] Jehovah liveth, who has saved Israel, though it be in Jonathan my son, he shall certainly die. And no one answered him among all the people.
40 Tsono Sauli anawuza Aisraeli onse kuti, “Inu mukhale mbali imodzi. Ine ndi mwana wanga Yonatani tikhala mbali inayo.” “Chitani chilichonse chimene chikukomerani.”
Then said he to all Israel, Be ye on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side. And the people said to Saul, Do what is good in thy sight.
41 Ndipo Sauli anapemphera kwa Yehova Mulungu wa Israeli kuti, “Chifukwa chiyani simunandiyankhe ine mtumiki wanu lero lino? Ngati tchimoli lipezeka ndi ine kapena ndi Yonatani mwana wanga, Inu Mulungu wa Israeli, aoneke ndi Urimu. Koma ngati wochimwa ndi anthu anu, Aisraeli aoneke Tamimu.” Maere anagwera Sauli ndi Yonatani ndipo anthu anapezeka osalakwa.
And Saul said to Jehovah the God of Israel, Give a perfect [testimony]! And Jonathan and Saul were taken, and the people escaped.
42 Sauli anati, “Chitani maere pakati pa ine ndi Yonatani mwana wanga.” Ndipo maere anagwera Yonatani.
And Saul said, Cast [lots] between me and Jonathan my son. And Jonathan was taken.
43 Kenaka Sauli anati kwa Yonatani, “Ndiwuze chimene wachita.” Ndipo Yonatani anamuwuza kuti, “Ine ndinangolawa uchi pangʼono ndi ndodo yangayi. Ndiye ine ndili wokonzeka kufa.”
And Saul said to Jonathan, Tell me what thou hast done. And Jonathan told him and said, With the end of the staff which is in my hand I tasted a little honey, [and] behold, I must die!
44 Sauli anati, “Mulungu andilange ngakhale kufa kumene, ngati sufa iwe Yonatani.”
And Saul said, God do so [to me] and more also; thou shalt certainly die, Jonathan.
45 Koma anthuwo anafunsa Saulo kuti, “Kodi Yonatani afe, iye amene wagwira ntchito iyi yayikulu yopulumutsa Aisraeli? Osatheka! Pali Yehova ngakhale tsitsi ndi limodzi lomwe lapamutu pake silidzathothoka, pakuti wachita zimenezi lero ndi thandizo la Mulungu.” Choncho anthuwo anamupulumutsa Yonatani, ndipo sanaphedwe.
And the people said to Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who has wrought this great salvation in Israel? Far be it! [as] Jehovah liveth, there shall not a hair of his head fall to the ground; for he has wrought with God this day. So the people delivered Jonathan, that he died not.
46 Pambuyo pake Sauli analeka kulondola Afilisti, kenaka anabwerera ku dziko lawo.
And Saul went up from following the Philistines; and the Philistines went to their own place.
47 Sauli ali mtsogoleri wa Israeli, anachita nkhondo ndi adani awa omuzungulira: Mowabu, Amoni, Edomu mafumu a ku Zoba ndi Afilisti. Kulikonse kumene ankapita ankawagonjetsa.
And Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies round about, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines; and whithersoever he turned himself, he discomfited [them].
48 Anachita nkhondo mwamphamvu ndi kugonjetsa Aamaleki. Choncho anapulumutsa Aisraeli mʼmanja mwa anthu amene ankawalanda zinthu zawo.
And he did valiantly, and smote the Amalekites, and delivered Israel out of the hands of their spoilers.
49 Ana aamuna a Sauli anali Yonatani, Isivi ndi Maliki-Suwa. Analinso ndi ana aakazi awiri, dzina la mwana wake wamkulu wamkazi linali Merabi ndipo la mwana wake wamngʼono wamkazi linali Mikala.
And the sons of Saul were Jonathan, and Jishvi, and Malchi-shua. And the names of his two daughters: the name of the firstborn Merab, and the name of the younger Michal.
50 Dzina la mkazi wake linali Ahinoamu. Iyeyu anali mwana wa Ahimaazi. Dzina la mkulu wa ankhondo a Sauli linali Abineri mwana wa Neri, mʼbale wa abambo a Sauli.
And the name of Saul's wife was Ahinoam, the daughter of Ahimaaz; and the name of the captain of his host was Abner, the son of Ner, Saul's uncle.
51 Kisi abambo a Sauli ndi Neri abambo a Abineri anali ana a Abieli.
And Kish the father of Saul, and Ner the father of Abner were sons of Abiel.
52 Pa moyo wake wonse, Sauli ankakhalira kuchita nkhondo pakati pa Israeli ndi Afilisti. Ndipo Sauli ankati akaona munthu aliyense wamphamvu kapena wolimba mtima ankamulemba ntchito mu gulu lake lankhondo.
And there was sore war against the Philistines all the days of Saul; and when Saul saw any mighty man, or any valiant man, he took him to himself.
