< 1 Mafumu 22 >
1 Kwa zaka zitatu panalibe nkhondo pakati pa Aramu ndi Israeli.
Three years passed without war between Aram and Israel.
2 Koma pa chaka chachitatu, Yehosafati mfumu ya ku Yuda anapita kukacheza ndi mfumu ya ku Israeli.
Then it came about that in the third year, Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went down to the king of Israel.
3 Mfumu ya ku Israeli nʼkuti itawuza atumiki ake kuti, “Kodi inu simukudziwa kuti Ramoti Giliyadi ndi dera lathu ndipo ife palibe chimene tikuchita kuti tilitenge deralo mʼmanja mwa mfumu ya Aramu?”
Now the king of Israel had said to his servants, “Do you know that Ramoth Gilead is ours, but that we are doing nothing to take it from the hand of the king of Aram?”
4 Tsono iye anafunsa Yehosafati kuti, “Kodi udzapita nane ku nkhondo ku Ramoti Giliyadi?” Yehosafati anayankha mfumu ya ku Israeli kuti, “Ine ndili monga inu, anthu anga monga anthu anu, akavalo anga monga akavalo anu.”
So he said to Jehoshaphat, “Will you go with me to war at Ramoth Gilead?” Jehoshaphat replied to the king of Israel, “I am like you, my people are like your people, and my horses are like your horses.”
5 Koma Yehosafati anawuzanso mfumu ya ku Israeli kuti, “Poyamba mupemphe nzeru kwa Yehova.”
Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please seek direction from the word of Yahweh for what you should do first.”
6 Choncho mfumu ya Israeli inasonkhanitsa pamodzi aneneri okwanira 400, ndipo inawafunsa kuti, “Kodi ndipite kukathira nkhondo Ramoti Giliyadi, kapena ndileke?” Iwo anayankha kuti, “Pitani, pakuti Ambuye waupereka mzindawo mʼmanja mwa mfumu.”
Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, “Should I go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or should I not?” They said, “Attack, for the Lord will give it into the hand of the king.”
7 Koma Yehosafati anafunsa kuti, “Kodi kuno kulibenso mneneri wina wa Yehova kumene ife tingakafunsireko nzeru?”
But Jehoshaphat said, “Is there not here yet another prophet of Yahweh from whom we might seek advice?”
8 Mfumu ya ku Israeli inayankha Yehosafati kuti, “Alipo munthu mmodzi amene ife tingakafunsire kwa Yehova, koma ndimadana naye chifukwa iyeyo samanenera kanthu kalikonse kabwino ka ine, koma zoyipa nthawi zonse. Dzina lake ndi Mikaya mwana wa Imula.” Yehosafati anayankha kuti, “Mfumu musatero.”
The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is still one man by whom we may seek advice from Yahweh to help, Micaiah son of Imlah, but I hate him because he does not prophesy anything good about me, but only hardships.” But Jehoshaphat said, “May the king not say that.”
9 Choncho mfumu ya Israeli inayitana mmodzi mwa atumiki ake ndipo inati, “Kayitane Mikaya mwana wa Imula msangamsanga.”
Then the king of Israel called an officer and commanded, “Bring Micaiah son of Imlah, right away.”
10 Atavala mikanjo yawo yaufumu, mfumu ya ku Israeli ndi Yehosafati mfumu ya ku Yuda anakhala pa mipando yawo yaufumu pabwalo lopondera tirigu pafupi ndi chipata cha Samariya, pamodzi ndi aneneri onse akunenera pamaso pawo.
Now Ahab the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on a throne, clothed in their robes, in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets were prophesying before them.
11 Tsono Zedekiya mwana wa Kenaana nʼkuti atapanga nyanga zachitsulo ndipo iye ananenera kuti, “Yehova akuti, ‘Ndi nyanga izi, inu mudzagunda nazo Aaramu mpaka iwo atawonongeka.’”
Zedekiah son of Kenaanah made himself horns of iron and said, “Yahweh says this: 'With these you will push the Arameans until they are consumed.'”
12 Aneneri ena onse ananenera zomwezonso. Iwo anati, “Kathireni nkhondo Ramoti Giliyadi ndipo mukapambana, pakuti Yehova adzawupereka mzindawo mʼdzanja la mfumu.”
Then all the prophets prophesied the same, saying, “Attack Ramoth Gilead and win, for Yahweh has given it into the hand of the king.”
13 Wamthenga amene anapita kukayitana Mikaya anamuwuza kuti, “Taonani, aneneri onse monga munthu mmodzi akunenera za kupambana kwa mfumu. Mawu anunso akhale ogwirizana ndi mawu awo, ndipo mukayankhule zabwino.”
The messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, “Now look, the words of the prophets declare good things to the king with one mouth. Please let your word be like one of them and say good things.”
14 Koma Mikaya anati, “Pali Yehova wamoyo, ine ndikawawuza zokhazo zimene Yehova akandiwuze.”
Micaiah replied, “As Yahweh lives, it is what Yahweh says to me that I will say.”
15 Atafika, Ahabu anamufunsa kuti, “Mikaya, kodi tipite kukathira nkhondo Ramoti Giliyadi, kapena tileke?” Iye anayankha kuti, “Pitani ndipo mukapambana, pakuti Yehova adzawupereka mzindawo mʼdzanja la mfumu.”
When he came to the king, the king said to him, “Micaiah, should we go to Ramoth Gilead for battle, or not?” Micaiah answered him, “Attack and win. Yahweh will give it into the hand of the king.”
16 Ahabu anati kwa iye, “Kodi ndikulumbiritse kangati kuti undiwuze zoona zokhazokha mʼdzina la Yehova?”
Then the king said to him, “How many times must I require you to swear to tell me nothing but the truth in the name of Yahweh?”
17 Pamenepo Mikaya anayankha kuti, “Ndinaona Aisraeli onse atamwazikana pa mapiri ngati nkhosa zopanda mʼbusa, ndipo Yehova anati, ‘Anthu awa alibe mbuye wawo. Aliyense apite kwawo mwamtendere.’”
So Micaiah said, “I saw all Israel scattered to the mountains, like sheep who have no shepherd, and Yahweh said, 'These have no shepherd. Let every man return to his house in peace.'”
18 Mfumu ya ku Israeli inati kwa Yehosafati, “Kodi ine sindinakuwuzeni kuti ameneyu samanenera kanthu kalikonse kabwino ka ine, koma zoyipa zokhazokha?”
So the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but only disaster?”
19 Mikaya anapitiriza kuyankhula nati, “Tsono imvani mawu a Yehova: Ine ndinaona Yehova atakhala pa mpando wake waufumu, gulu lonse la kumwamba litayima ku dzanja lake lamanja ndi ku dzanja lake lamanzere.
Then Micaiah said, “Therefore hear the word of Yahweh: I saw Yahweh sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven were standing by him on his right hand and on his left.
20 Ndipo Yehova anati, ‘Kodi ndani amene akamukope Ahabu kuti akathire nkhondo Ramoti Giliyadi, nʼkukafera komweko?’” “Wina anapereka maganizo ena ndipo winanso maganizo ena.
Yahweh said, 'Who will entice Ahab, so that he may go up and fall at Ramoth Gilead?' One of them said this and another one said that.
21 Potsirizira, mzimu wina unabwera ndi kuyima pamaso pa Yehova ndipo unati, ‘Ine ndidzamukopa.’”
Then a spirit came forward, stood before Yahweh, and said, 'I will entice him.' Yahweh said to him, 'How?'
22 Yehova anafunsa kuti, “Ukamukopa bwanji?” Mzimuwo unati, “Ndidzapita ndi kukakhala mzimu wabodza pakamwa pa aneneri ake onse.” Yehova anati, “‘Iwe udzamukopadi. Pita kachite zomwezo.’
The spirit replied, 'I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' Yahweh replied, 'You will entice him, and you will also be successful. Go now and do so.'
23 “Ndipo tsopano taonani, Yehova wayika mzimu wabodza mʼkamwa mwa aneneri anu onsewa. Yehova waneneratu kuti mukaona mavuto.”
Now see, Yahweh has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these prophets of yours, and Yahweh has decreed disaster for you.”
24 Pamenepo Zedekiya mwana wa Kenaana anapita pafupi namenya Mikaya patsaya. Iye anafunsa Mikaya kuti, “Kodi mzimu wa Yehova unadzera njira iti pamene umatuluka mwa ine kuti uziyankhula ndi iwe?”
Then Zedekiah son of Kenaanah, came up, slapped Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way did the Spirit of Yahweh take to go from me to speak to you?”
25 Mikaya anayankha kuti, “Udzaona pa tsiku limene uzikalowa mʼchipinda chamʼkati kuti ukabisale.”
Micaiah said, “Look, you will see on that day when you will go to hide in an inner room.”
26 Pamenepo mfumu ya ku Israeli inalamula kuti, “Mugwireni Mikaya ndipo mubwerere naye kwa Amoni mkulu wa mzinda, ndi kwa Yowasi mwana wa mfumu
The king of Israel said to his servant, “Seize Micaiah and take him to Amon, the governor of the city, and to Joash, my son.
27 ndipo mukanene kuti, ‘Chimene mfumu ikunena ndi ichi; Muyikeni mʼndende munthu uyu ndipo musamupatse chakudya china koma buledi ndi madzi pangʼono mpaka nditabwerera mwamtendere.’”
Say to him, 'The king says, Put this man in prison and feed him with only a little bread and only a little water, until I come safely.'”
28 Mikaya ananena kuti, “Ngati mudzabwerera mwamtendere, Yehova sanayankhule kudzera mwa ine.” Ndipo iye anapitiriza kunena kuti, “Gwiritsitsani mawu angawa, anthu inu nonse!”
Then Micaiah said, “If you return safely, then Yahweh has not spoken by me.” Then he added, “Listen to this, all you people.”
29 Choncho mfumu ya ku Israeli ndi Yehosafati mfumu ya ku Yuda anapita ku Ramoti Giliyadi.
So Ahab, the king of Israel, and Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, went up to Ramoth Gilead.
30 Mfumu ya ku Israeli inawuza Yehosafati kuti, “Ine ndidzalowa mu nkhondoyi modzibisa, koma inu muvale zovala zanu zaufumu.” Choncho mfumu ya ku Israeli inadzibisa ndi kupita ku nkhondo.
The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself and go into the battle, but you put on your royal robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into the battle.
31 Tsono mfumu ya ku Aramu nʼkuti italamulira anthu ake 32 olamulira magaleta kuti, “Musamenyane ndi wina aliyense, wamngʼono kapena wamkulu, koma mfumu ya ku Israeli.”
Now the king of Aram had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, “Do not attack unimportant or important soldiers. Instead, attack only the king of Israel.”
32 Olamulira magaleta ataona Yehosafati, ankaganiza kuti, “Ndithu iyi ndiye mfumu ya ku Israeli.” Choncho anabwerera kukamenyana naye, koma Yehosafati atafuwula,
It came about that when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat they said, “Surely that is the king of Israel.” They turned to attack him, so Jehoshaphat cried out.
33 olamulira akavalo anaona kuti sanali mfumu ya ku Israeli ndipo analeka kumuthamangitsa.
It came about that when the commanders of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.
34 Koma munthu wina anaponya muvi wake mwachiponyeponye ndi kulasa mfumu ya ku Israeli polumikizira malaya ake odzitetezera. Mfumu inawuza woyendetsa galeta lake kuti, “Tembenuka ndipo undichotse pa nkhondo pano pakuti ndalasidwa.”
But a certain man drew his bow at random and shot the king of Israel between the joints of his armor. Then Ahab said to the driver of his chariot, “Turn around and carry me out of the battle, for I am badly wounded.”
35 Nkhondo inakula kwambiri tsiku limenelo, ndipo mfumu inakhala tsonga mʼgaleta lake moyangʼanana ndi Aaramu. Magazi ake ankayenderera pansi kuchokera mʼgaleta, ndipo pa nthawi ya madzulo inamwalira.
The battle grew worse that day and the king was held up in his chariot facing the Arameans. He died in the evening. The blood ran out from his wound into the bottom of the chariot.
36 Pamene dzuwa linkalowa, kunamveka mfuwu wa nkhondo kuti, “Munthu aliyense apite ku mzinda wa kwawo, aliyense apite ku dziko la kwawo!”
Then about the time the sun was going down, a cry went up throughout the army, saying, “Every man should go back to his city; and every man should go back to his region!”
37 Ndipo mfumu ija inafa, nabwera nayo ku Samariya, ndipo anayika mʼmanda kumeneko.
So King Ahab died and was brought to Samaria, and they buried him in Samaria.
38 Anatsuka galeta lija pa dziwe la ku Samariya (pamene ankasamba akazi achiwerewere) ndipo agalu ananyambita magazi a mfumuyo, monga momwe Yehova ananenera.
They washed the chariot by the pool of Samaria, and the dogs licked up his blood (this was where the prostitutes bathed), just as the word of Yahweh had declared.
39 Tsono ntchito zina za Ahabu, kuphatikiza zonse anazichita, nyumba yaufumu imene anamanga yokutidwa ndi minyanga ya njovu, mizinda yotetezedwa, kodi sizinalembedwe mʼbuku la mbiri ya mafumu a ku Israeli?
As for the other matters concerning Ahab, all that he did, the ivory house that he built, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the events of the kings of Israel?
40 Ahabu anamwalira nayikidwa mʼmanda pamodzi ndi makolo ake. Ndipo Ahaziya mwana wake analowa ufumu mʼmalo mwake.
So Ahab slept with his ancestors, and Ahaziah his son became king in his place.

43 Pa zinthu zonse, Yehosafati anayenda mʼnjira za Asa abambo ake ndipo sanachite zotsutsana ndi machitidwe a abambo ake. Iye anachita zolungama pamaso pa Yehova. Komabe, malo azipembedzo sanawawononge, ndipo anthu anapitiriza kupereka nsembe ndi kufukiza lubani kumeneko.
He walked in the ways of Asa, his father; he did not turn away from them; he did what was right in the eyes of Yahweh. Yet the high places were not taken away. The people were still sacrificing and burning incense on the high places.
44 Yehosafati anakhala mwamtendere ndi mfumu ya ku Israeli.
Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.
45 Ntchito zake zina za Yehosafati, zinthu zimene anachita ndi zamphamvu zimene anaonetsa, kodi sizinalembedwe mʼbuku la mbiri ya mafumu a ku Yuda?
As for the other matters concerning Jehoshaphat, and the might that he showed, and how he waged war, are they not written in the book of the events of the kings of Judah?
46 Iye anachotsa mʼdzikomo amuna onse ochita zachiwerewere mwa chipembedzo amene anatsalira pa nthawi ya ulamuliro wa Asa, abambo ake.
He removed from the land the rest of the cultic prostitutes who had remained in the days of his father Asa.
47 Nthawi imeneyo kunalibe mfumu ku Edomu, amene ankalamulira anali munthu woyikidwa ndi mfumu ya ku Yuda.
There was no king in Edom, but a deputy ruled there.
48 Yehosafati anapanga sitima zapamadzi zopita ku Ofiri kukatenga golide, koma sitimazo sizinayende chifukwa zinawonongeka ku Ezioni Geberi.
Jehoshaphat built oceangoing ships; they were to go to Ophir for gold, but they did not go because the ships were wrecked at Ezion Geber.
49 Nthawi imeneyo Ahaziya mwana wa Ahabu anawuza Yehosafati kuti, “Anthu anga ayende pa madzi pamodzi ndi anthu anu,” koma Yehosafati anakana.

52 Iye anachita zoyipa pamaso pa Yehova, chifukwa anayenda mʼnjira za abambo ndi amayi ake komanso mʼnjira za Yeroboamu mwana wa Nebati, amene anachimwitsa Israeli.
He did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh and walked in the way of his father, in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam son of Nebat, by which he led Israel to sin.
53 Potumikira ndi kupembedza Baala, iye anakwiyitsa Yehova Mulungu wa Israeli, monga momwe anachitira abambo ake.
He served Baal and worshiped him and so he provoked Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger, just as his father had done.
