When David was old and near the end of his life, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

He gathered together all the leaders of Israel, with the priests and Levites.

The Levites who were thirty years old and older were counted. They numbered thirty-eight thousand.

“Of these, twenty-four thousand were to oversee the work of Yahweh's house, and six thousand were officers and judges.
5 Amuna 4,000 akhale alonda a pa zipata ndipo 4,000 azitamanda Yehova ndi zipangizo zoyimbira zimene ndazipereka ndi cholinga chimenecho.”
Four thousand were gatekeepers, and four thousand were to praise Yahweh with the instruments that I made to give praise,” David said.
6 Davide anagawa Aleviwo mʼmagulumagulu motsatira ana a Levi awa: Geresoni, Kohati ndi Merari.
He divided them into groups that corresponded to Levi's sons: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
7 Ana a Geresoni: Ladani ndi Simei.
From the clans descended from Gershon, there were Ladan and Shimei.
8 Ana a Ladani: Mtsogoleri Yehieli, Zetamu ndi Yoweli. Onse analipo atatu.
There were three of Ladan's sons: Jehiel the leader, Zetham, and Joel.
9 Ana a Simei: Selomoti, Haziyeli ndi Harani. Onse analipo atatu. Awa anali atsogoleri a mabanja a Ladani.
There were three of Shimei's sons: Shelomoth, Haziel, and Haran. These were the leaders of the clans of Ladan.
10 Ndipo ana a Simei anali: Yahati, Zina, Yeusi ndi Beriya. Awa anali ana a Semei. Onse analipo anayi.
There were four of Shimei's sons: Jahath, Ziza, Jeush, and Beriah.
11 Mtsogoleri anali Yahati, ndipo Ziza anali wachiwiri, koma Yeusi ndi Beriya analibe ana aamuna ambiri. Kotero iwo anawerengedwa ngati banja limodzi ndipo anapatsidwa ntchito imodzinso yofanana.
Jahath was the oldest, and Ziza the second, but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons, so they were considered as one clan with the same duties.
12 Ana a Kohati: Amramu, Izihari, Hebroni ndi Uzieli. Onse analipo anayi.
There were four of Kohath's sons: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
13 Ana a Amramu: Aaroni ndi Mose. Aaroni ndi zidzukulu zake anapatulidwa kwamuyaya kuti azipereka zinthu zopatulika kwambiri monga nsembe pamaso pa Yehova, komanso kuti azitumikira pamaso pake ndi kumadalitsa anthu mʼdzina lake kwamuyaya.
These were Amram's sons: Aaron and Moses. Aaron was chosen to set apart the most holy things, that he and his descendants would offer incense before Yahweh, to serve him and to give blessings in his name forever.
14 Ana a Mose munthu wa Mulungu anawerengedwa ngati gawo la fuko la Levi.
But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were considered to be Levites.
15 Ana a Mose: Geresomu ndi Eliezara.
Moses' sons were Gershom and Eliezer.
16 Zidzukulu za Geresomu: Mtsogoleri anali Subaeli.
Gershom's descendant was Shubael the oldest.
17 Zidzukulu za Eliezara: Mtsogoleri anali Rehabiya. Eliezara analibe ana ena aamuna, koma ana a Rehabiya anali ochuluka kwambiri.
Eliezer's descendant was Rehabiah. Eliezer had no other sons, but Rehabiah had many descendants.
18 Ana a Izihari: Mtsogoleri anali Selomiti.
Izhar's son was Shelomith the leader.
19 Ana a Hebroni: Mtsogoleri anali Yeriya, wachiwiri anali Amariya, Yahazieli anali wachitatu ndipo Yekameamu anali wachinayi.
Hebron's descendants were Jeriah, the oldest, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
20 Ana a Uzieli: Mtsogoleri anali Mika ndipo wachiwiri anali Isiya.
Uzziel's sons were Micah the oldest, and Ishijah the second.
21 Ana a Merari: Mahili ndi Musi. Ana a Mahili: Eliezara ndi Kisi.
Merari's sons were Mahli and Mushi. Mahli's sons were Eleazar and Kish.
22 Eliezara anamwalira wopanda ana aamuna. Iye anali ndi ana aakazi okhaokha. Abale awo, ana a Kisi, ndiwo amene anawakwatira.
Eleazar died without having any sons. He had only daughters. The sons of Kish married them.
23 Ana a Musi: Mahili, Ederi ndi Yeremoti. Onse analipo atatu.
Mushi's three sons were Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth.
24 Izi zinali zidzukulu za Levi mwa mabanja awo, atsogoleri a mabanja monga momwe analembedwera mayina awo ndi monga momwenso anawerengedwera, banja lililonse pa lokha. Awa ndi anthu ogwira ntchito oyambira zaka makumi awiri zobadwa kapena kupitirirapo, amene amatumikira mʼNyumba ya Yehova.
These were Levi's descendants corresponding to their clans. They were the leaders, counted and listed by name, of the clans that did the work in the service of Yahweh's house, from twenty years old and upward.

For David said, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people. He makes his home in Jerusalem forever.

The Levites will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all the equipment used in its service.”

For by David's last words the Levites were counted, from twenty years old and upward.

Their duty was to assist Aaron's descendants in the service of Yahweh's house. They were to care for the courtyards, the rooms, the ceremonial purification of all the things that belong to Yahweh, and other work in the service of God's house.
29 Iwo amayangʼanira buledi amene amayikidwa pa tebulo, ufa wa nsembe yachakudya, timitanda ta buledi wopanda yisiti: kuphika ndi kusakaniza, ndiponso miyeso yonse ndi kukula kwake.
They also took care of the bread of the presence, the fine flour for grain offerings, the unleavened wafers, the baked offerings, the offerings mixed with oil, and all the measuring of the amounts and sizes of things.
30 Iwo amayimiriranso mmawa uliwonse kuthokoza ndi kutamanda Yehova. Amachitanso chomwecho madzulo,
They also stood every morning to thank and praise Yahweh. They also did this in the evening
31 ndiponso popereka nsembe zopsereza kwa Yehova pa Sabata ndi pa chikondwerero cha Mwezi Watsopano, ndi pa nthawi yosankhidwa ya Chikondwerero. Iwo amatumikira pamaso pa Yehova nthawi zonse mwa chiwerengero chawo ndi momwe analangizidwira.
and whenever burnt offerings were offered to Yahweh, on the Sabbath and at the new moon festivals and feast days. A fixed number, assigned by decree, always had to be present before Yahweh.
32 Ndipo kotero Alevi anachita ntchito yawo ya ku tenti ya msonkhano ya ku Malo Opatulika ndiponso molamulidwa ndi abale awo, zidzukulu za Aaroni, pa ntchito ya mʼNyumba ya Yehova.
They were in charge of the tent of meeting, the holy place, and helped their fellow descendants of Aaron in the service of Yahweh's house.
