1 Aisraeli onse anasonkhana pamaso pa Davide ku Hebroni ndipo anati, “Ife ndife abale anu.
Then all Israel gathered themselves to David to Hebron, saying, “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.
2 Kale lija, ngakhale pamene Sauli anali mfumu, inu ndinu amene munkatsogolera Aisraeli pa nkhondo zawo. Ndipo Yehova Mulungu wanu anakuwuzani kuti, ‘Iwe udzaweta anthu anga Aisraeli, ndipo udzakhala mfumu yawo.’”
In times past, even when Saul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. The LORD your God said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over my people Israel.’”
3 Akuluakulu onse a Israeli atafika kwa Mfumu Davide ku Hebroni, iye anachita nawo pangano pamaso pa Yehova, ndipo anamudzoza Davide kukhala mfumu ya Israeli, monga momwe Yehova analonjezera kudzera mwa Samueli.
So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD. They anointed David king over Israel, according to the LORD’s word by Samuel.
4 Davide ndi Aisraeli onse anapita ku Yerusalemu (ku Yebusi). Ayebusi amene ankakhala kumeneko
David and all Israel went to Jerusalem (also called Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there.
5 anamuwuza Davide kuti, “Simulowa muno.” Komabe Davide analanda linga la Ziyoni, limene ndi mzinda wa Davide.
The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You will not come in here!” Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion. The same is David’s city.
6 Davide anali atanena kuti “Aliyense amene adzatsogolere kukathira nkhondo Ayebusi adzakhala mkulu wa asilikali.” Yowabu mwana wa Zeruya ndiye anayamba kupita, motero anakhala mkulu wa asilikali.
David had said, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain.” Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and was made chief.
7 Tsono Davide anakhazikika mu lingamo, ndipo mzindawu anawutcha Mzinda wa Davide.
David lived in the stronghold; therefore they called it David’s city.
8 Iye anamanga malo onse ozungulira, kuyambira ku matsitso ozungulira khoma. Ndipo Yowabu anakonzanso mbali ina ya mzindawu.
He built the city all around, from Millo even around; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
9 Ndipo mphamvu za Davide zinkakulirakulira chifukwa anali ndi Yehova Wamphamvuzonse.
David grew greater and greater, for the LORD of Hosts was with him.
10 Awa ndiye anali atsogoleri amphamvu a Davide. Iwo pamodzi ndi Aisraeli onse, anathandiza kulimbikitsa ufumu wake kuti ukwanire madera onse, monga momwe Yehova analonjezera.
Now these are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who showed themselves strong with him in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to the LORD’s word concerning Israel.
11 Nawa mayina a ankhondo amphamvu a Davide: Yasobeamu Mhakimoni anali mkulu wa atsogoleri. Iye anapha ndi mkondo ankhondo 300 nthawi imodzi.
This is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashobeam, the son of a Hachmonite, the chief of the thirty; he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them at one time.
12 Wotsatana naye anali Eliezara mwana wa Dodo Mwahohi, mmodzi mwa ankhondo atatu amphamvu.
After him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighty men.
13 Iye anali ndi Davide ku Pasi-Damimu pamene Afilisti anasonkhana kudzachita nkhondo. Ankhondo anathawa Afilistiwo pamalo pamene panali munda wodzaza ndi barele.
He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where there was a plot of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.
14 Koma awiriwo anayima pakati pa mundawo. Iwo anawuteteza, nakantha Afilistiwo ndipo Yehova anawapambanitsa koposa.
They stood in the middle of the plot, defended it, and killed the Philistines; and the LORD saved them by a great victory.
15 Atatu mwa atsogoleri makumi atatu aja anabwera kwa Davide ku thanthwe ku phanga la Adulamu pamene gulu la Afilisti linali litamanga misasa mʼchigwa cha Refaimu.
Three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the army of the Philistines were encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
16 Nthawi imeneyo Davide anali mu linga, ndipo boma la Afilisti linali ku Betelehemu.
David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was in Bethlehem at that time.
17 Davide analakalaka madzi ndipo anati, “Haa, pakanapezeka munthu wokanditungira madzi a mʼchitsime chomwe chili pafupi ndi chipata cha ku Betelehemu!”
David longed, and said, “Oh, that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!”
18 Choncho anthu atatuwa anadutsa mizere ya Afilisti, natunga madzi amene anali mʼchitsime chomwe chinali pafupi ndi chipata cha ku Betelehemu nabwera nawo kwa Davide. Koma iye anakana kumwa. Mʼmalo mwake anathira pansi pamaso pa Yehova.
The three broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate, took it, and brought it to David; but David would not drink any of it, but poured it out to the LORD,
19 Iye anati, “Inu Mulungu, musalole kuti ine ndichite chinthu ichi! Kodi ndimwe magazi a anthu amene anayika miyoyo yawo pachiswe?” Chifukwa iwo anayika miyoyo yawo pachiswe kuti abweretse madziwo, Davide sanamwe. Zimenezi ndi zimene anachita anthu amphamvu atatuwo.
and said, “My God forbid me, that I should do this! Shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in jeopardy?” For they risked their lives to bring it. Therefore he would not drink it. The three mighty men did these things.
20 Abisai mʼbale wa Yowabu ndiye anali mtsogoleri wa anthu atatuwa. Iye anapha ndi mkondo ankhondo 300. Choncho iyeyo anali wotchuka pakati pa anthu atatu aja.
Abishai, the brother of Joab, was chief of the three; for he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name amongst the three.
21 Iye analandira ulemu woposa atatuwo. Kotero anakhala mtsogoleri wawo ngakhale kuti iyeyo sanali mʼgulu la anthu atatu aja.
Of the three, he was more honourable than the two, and was made their captain; however he wasn’t included in the three.
22 Benaya mwana wa Yehoyada wa ku Kabizeeli anali munthu wolimba mtima amene anachita zinthu zamphamvu. Iye anakantha ankhondo awiri otchuka a ku Mowabu. Tsiku lina kukuzizira kwambiri, iye analowa mʼdzenje ndi kuphamo mkango.
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the middle of a pit on a snowy day.
23 Ndipo iye anakanthanso Mwigupto amene anali wotalika mamita awiri ndi theka. Ngakhale kuti Mwiguptoyo anali ndi mkondo wofanana ndi ndodo yowombera nsalu mʼdzanja mwake, Benaya anapita kukamenyana naye ali ndi chibonga chokha mʼmanja. Iye analanda mkondo mʼdzanja la Mwiguptoyo ndi kumupha ndi mkondo wake womwe.
He killed an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high. In the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear.
24 Izi ndi zamphamvu zimene Benaya mwana wa Yehoyada anachita. Iyeyo analinso wotchuka ngati anthu atatu amphamvu aja.
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things and had a name amongst the three mighty men.
25 Iye ankalemekezedwa kuposa wina aliyense mwa anthu makumi atatu, koma sanali mʼgulu la anthu atatu aja. Ndipo Davide anamuyika kukhala woyangʼanira asilikali omuteteza.
Behold, he was more honourable than the thirty, but he didn’t attain to the three; and David set him over his guard.
26 Ankhondo amphamvuwa anali: Asaheli mʼbale wa Yowabu, Elihanani mwana wa Dodo wa ku Betelehemu,
The mighty men of the armies also include Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,
27 Samoti Mharori, Helezi Mpeloni.
Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,
28 Ira mwana wa Ikesi wa ku Tekowa, Abiezeri wa ku Anatoti,
Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abiezer the Anathothite,
29 Sibekai Mhusati, Ilai Mwahohi,
Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,
30 Maharai Mnetofa, Heledi mwana wa Baana Mnetofa,
Maharai the Netophathite, Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite,
31 Itai mwana wa Ribai wa ku Gibeya ku Benjamini, Benaya Mpiratoni,
Ithai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite,
32 Hurai wa ku zigwa za Gaasi, Abieli Mwaribati,
Hurai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite,
33 Azimaveti Mbaharumi, Eliyahiba Msaaliboni,

Ahiam the son of Sacar the Hararite, Eliphal the son of Ur,
36 Heferi Mmekerati, Ahiya Mpeloni,
Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite,
37 Heziro wa ku Karimeli Naara mwana wa Ezibai,
Hezro the Carmelite, Naarai the son of Ezbai,
38 Yoweli mʼbale wa Natani, Mibihari mwana wa Hagiri,
Joel the brother of Nathan, Mibhar the son of Hagri,
39 Zeleki Mwamoni, Naharai wa ku Beeroti, mnyamata wonyamula zida za Yowabu mwana wa Zeruya.
Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Berothite (the armour bearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah),
40 Ira Mwitiri, Garebu Mwitiri,
Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,
41 Uriya Mhiti, Zabadi mwana wa Ahilai,
Uriah the Hittite, Zabad the son of Ahlai,
42 Adina mwana wa Siza Mrubeni, amene anali mtsogoleri wa Arubeni ndi anthu makumi atatu pamodzi naye,
Adina the son of Shiza the Reubenite (a chief of the Reubenites), and thirty with him,
43 Hanani mwana wa Maaka, Yehosafati Mmitini,
Hanan the son of Maacah, Joshaphat the Mithnite,
44 Uziya Mwasiterati, Sama ndi Yeiyeli ana a Hotamu Mwaroeri,
Uzzia the Ashterathite, Shama and Jeiel the sons of Hotham the Aroerite,
45 Yediaeli mwana wa Simiri, ndi Yoha Mtizi mʼbale wake,
Jediael the son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, the Tizite,
46 Elieli Mhavati, Yeribai ndi Yosaviya ana a Elinaamu, Itima Mmowabu,
Eliel the Mahavite, and Jeribai, and Joshaviah, the sons of Elnaam, and Ithmah the Moabite,
47 Elieli, Obedi ndi Yaasieli Mmeobai.
