Mga Maghuhukom 15
1 Apan nahatabo sa wala madugay, nga panahon sa pag-ani sa trigo, nga si Samson midu-aw sa iyang asawa, dinala ang usa ka nating kanding; ug siya miingon: Sudlon ko ang akong asawa sa lawak. Apan ang iyang amahan wala motugot kaniya sa pagpasulod.
During the time that they harvested wheat, Samson took a young goat to Timnah as a present for his wife. He planned to sleep with [EUP] his wife, but her father would not let him go into [her room].
2 Ug ang iyang amahan miingon: Ako sa pagkatinuod nagahunahuna nga ikaw nagadumot gayud kaniya; busa gihatag ko siya sa imong kauban: dili ba ang iyang manghud nga babaye labi pang maambong kay kaniya? Kuhaa siya, ako nagahangyo kanimo, iilis kaniya.
He said to Samson, “I really thought that you hated her. So I gave her to the man who had been your best man at the wedding, and she married him. But look, her younger sister is [RHQ] more beautiful than she is. You can marry her!”
3 Ug si Samson miingon kanila: Niining panahona ako walay sala sa mga Filistehanon, kong ako magahimo kanila ug dautan.
Samson replied, “No! And this time I have a right to get revenge on you Philistines!”
4 Ug si Samson milakaw ug midakup ug totolo ka gatus nga irong ihalas, ug mikuhag mga agipo ug gisumpot ang tagurha ka ikog ug gibutangn sa taliwala sa duruha ka ikog ug usa ka agipo.
Then he went out [into the fields] and caught 300 foxes. He tied their tails together, two-by-two. He fastened torches to each pair of tails.
5 Ug sa diha nga gipasiga na niya ang agipo iyang gibuhian sila ngadto sa mga nanagtindog pa nga alanihon sa mga Pilistehanon, ug nasunog ang tinapok nga inani ug ang nagatindog nga anihon, ug lakip usab ang mga kaolivahan.
Then he lit the torches and let the foxes run through the fields of the Philistines. The fire [from the torches] burned all the grain to the ground, including the grain that had been cut and piled in bundles. The fire also burned down their grapevines and their olive trees.
6 Unya ang mga Filistehanon ming-ingon: Kinsay naghimo niini? Ug sila miingon: Si Samson ang masamong sa taga-Timnah, tungod kay iyang gikuha ang iyang gihatag sa iyang kauban. Ug ang mga Filistehanon mingtungas, ug gisunog ang babaye, ug ang iyang amahan sa kalayo.
The Philistines asked, “Who did this?” Someone told them, “Samson did it. He married a woman from Timnah, but then his father-in-law gave her to the man who was Samson’s best man at the wedding, and she married him.” So the Philistines went [to Timnah] and got the woman and her father, and burned them to death.
7 Ug si Samson miingon kanila: Kong kamo magabuhat niining paagiha, sa pagkatinuod ako magapanimalus kaninyo, ug sa tapus niana ako mohunong.
Samson [found out about that, and he] said to them, “Because you have done this, I will not stop until I get revenge on you!”
8 Ug iyang gisamaran sila sa hawak ug sa paa sa dakung kamatay: ug milugsong siya ug mipuyo sa liki sa pangpang sa Etam.
So he attacked the Philistines furiously, and killed many of them. Then he went [to hide] in a cave in the large rock at a place called Etam.
9 Unya ang mga Filistehanon mingtungas ug nagpahaluna sa Juda ug nagbulagbulag sila sa Lehi.
The Philistines [did not know where he was, so they] went up to where the descendants of Judah lived, set up their tents near Lehi [town and then raided the town].
10 Ug ang mga tawo sa Juda ming-ingon: Nganong nanungas kamo batok kanamo? Ug sila ming-ingon: Aron sa paggapus kang Samson kami ming-anhi, sa pagbuhat kaniya sumala sa iyang gibuhat kanamo.
The men there asked the Philistines, “Why have you attacked us?” The Philistines replied, “We have come to capture Samson. We have come to get revenge on him for what he did to us.”
11 Unya totolo ka libo ka tawo sa Juda minglugsong ngadto sa liki sa pangpang sa bato sa Etam, ug ming-ingon kang Samson: wala ka ba mahibalo nga ang mga Filistehanon maoy mga magbubuot sa ibabaw nato? Unsa man kining imong gibuhat kanamo? Ug siya miingon kanila: Sumala sa ilang gibuhat kanako, mao usab ang akong gibuhat kanila.
[Someone there knew where Samson was hiding]. So 3,000 men from Judah went down to get Samson at the cave in the rock where he was hiding. They said to Samson, “Do you not realize that the people of Philistia are ruling over us? Do you not realize what they will do to us?” Samson replied, “The only thing I did was that I got revenge on them for what they did to me.”
12 Ug sila ming-ingon kaniya: Kami mianhi sa paggapus kanimo aron ikatugyan ikaw namo sa kamot sa mga Filistehanon. Ug si Samson miingon kanila Panumpa kanako nga kamo sa inyong kaugalingon dili magpatay kanako.
But the men from Judah said to him, “We have come to tie you up and put you in the hands of the Philistines.” Samson said, “All right, but promise me that you yourselves will not kill me!”
13 Ug sila namulong kaniya nga nagaingon: Dili; apan gapuson ka gayud namo, ug itugyan ka ngadto sa ilang kamot: apan sa pagkatinuod dili ikaw namo patyon. Ug ilang gigapus siya sa duha ka bag-ong pisi ug gidala siya gikan sa pangpang.
They replied, “We will just tie you up and take you to the Philistines. We will not kill you.” So they tied him with two new ropes, and led him away from the cave.
14 Sa paghiadto niya sa Lehi, ang mga Filistehanon naninggit sa pagsugat kaniya: ug ang Espiritu ni Jehova mikunsad sa makusganon kaniya, ug ang mga gapus nga diha sa iyang bukton nahimo nga ingon sa lino nga nasunog sa kalayo, ug ang iyang mga bugkos nangahulog gikan sa iyang mga kamot.
When they arrived at Lehi, the Philistines came toward him, shouting [triumphantly]. But Yahweh’s Spirit came upon Samson powerfully. He snapped the ropes on his arms as easily as if they were stalks of burned flax, and the ropes fell off his wrists.
15 Ug siya nakakita ug usa ka bag-ong bukog sa apapangig sa asno, ug gituy-od niya ang iyang kamot ug gikuha kini ug gipatay ang usa ka libo ka tawo pinaagi niini.
Then he saw a donkey’s jawbone lying on the ground. It was fresh, [so it was hard]. He picked it up and killed about 1,000 Philistine men with it.
16 Ug si Samson miingon: Uban sa bukog sa apapangig sa usa ka asno, mga pundok sa ibabaw sa mga pinundok, Uban sa apapangig sa usa ka asno nakapatay ako ug usa ka libo ka tawo.
Then Samson wrote this poem: “With the jawbone of a donkey I have made them like a heap of [dead] donkeys. With the jawbone of a donkey I killed 1,000 men.”
17 Ug nahitabo sa pagkatapus niya ug pamulong nga iyang gisalibay ang bukog sa apapangig gikan sa iyang kamot; ug kadtong dapita gitawag nga Ramath-lehi.
When he finished killing those men, he threw the jawbone away, and later that place was called Jawbone Hill.
18 Ug giuhaw siya ug daku, ug misangpit kang Jehova, ug miingon: Ikaw ang nagahatag niining dakung kaluwasan pinaagi sa kamot sa imong ulipon; ug karon mamatay ako sa kauhaw ug mahulog sa kamot sa mga walay circuncicion.
Then Samson was very thirsty, so he called out to Yahweh, “You have given me strength to win a great victory. So now must I die because of being thirsty, with the result that those heathen Philistines will take away my body [and mutilate it]?”
19 Apan ang Dios nagpikas sa lungagang dapit sa Lehi ug minggula ang tubig didto; ug sa pag-inum niya, ang iyang espiritu nahiuhan, ug siya napiskay; busa ang ngalan niadto ginatawag En-haccore, nga anaa sa Lehi hangtud niining adlawa.
So God caused water to gush out of a depression in the ground at Lehi. Samson drank from it and soon felt strong again. He named that place ‘The spring of the one who called out’. That spring is still there at Lehi.
20 Ug siya nagmaghuhukom sa Israel sa adlaw sa mga Filistehanon sa kaluhaan ka tuig.
Samson was the leader of the Israeli people for 20 years, but during that time the Philistines [were the ones who really ruled over the land].
