Mga Maghuhukom 11
1 Karon si Jephte ang Galaadnon maoy usa ka gamhanang tawo sa kaisug, ug anak sa usa ka bigaon: ug si Galaad nanganak kang Jephte.
Now, Jephthah the Gileadite, was a mighty man of valour, but, he, was the son of an unchaste woman, —yet Gilead was the father of Jephthah.
2 Ug ang asawa ni Galaad nanganak kaniya ug mga anak nga lalake; ug sa diha nga nadagku na ang mga anak nga lalake sa iyang asawa ilang gihinginlan si Jephte, ug miingon kaniya: Ikaw dili makapanunod sa balay sa among amahan; kay ikaw anak nga lalake sa laing babaye.
And the wife of Gilead bare him sons, —and, when the wife’s sons grew up, they thrust out Jephthah, and said unto him—Thou shalt not inherit with the house of our father, for, son of an alien woman, art thou.
3 Unya si Jephte mikalagiw gikan sa iyang mga kaigsoonan, ug mipuyo sa yuta sa Tob: ug didto nanagtigum kang Jephte ang mga kauban nga dautan, ug nanguban sila kaniya.
So Jephthah fled from the face of his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob, —and there gathered about Jephthah unemployed men, who went forth with him.
4 Ug nahitabo sa wala madugay nga ang mga anak sa Ammon naghimo ug pakiggubat batok sa Israel.
And so it came to pass, after a time, —that the sons of Ammon made war with Israel.
5 Ug mao kadto, nga, sa diha nga ang mga anak sa Ammon naghimo ug pakiggubat batok sa Israel, ang mga anciano sa Galaad miadto sa pagkuha kang Jephte gikan sa yuta sa Tob;
When, therefore, it came to pass that the sons of Ammon made war with Israel, then went the elders of Gilead, to summon Jephthah out of the land of Tob.
6 Ug sila ming-ingon kang Jephte: Umari ka ug ikaw mapangulo namo aron kami makigaway sa mga anak sa Ammon.
And they said to Jephthah, Oh! come and be our commander, —that we may do battle with the sons of Ammon.
7 Ug si Jephte miingon sa mga anciano sa Galaad: Wala ba kamo maligutgut kanako, ug maghingilin kanako gikan sa balay sa akong amahan? Ug nganong nanganhi kamo kanako karon sa diha nga anaa kamo sa kalisud?
But Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, Have not, ye, hated me, and thrust me out from the house of my father? Wherefore then, are ye come unto me, now, when ye are in distress?
8 Ug ang mga anciano sa Galaad miingon kang Jephte: Sa ingon niini kami namalik na kanimo karon, aron ikaw mouban kanamo, ug makig-away sa mga anak sa Ammon; ug ikaw mamahimo nga among pangulo sa tanan nga nagpuyo sa Galaad:
And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah—Therefore, have we, now, returned unto thee, that, if thou go with us, and do battle with the sons of Ammon, then shalt thou become our head, for all the inhabitants of Gilead.
9 Ug si Jephte miingon sa mga anciano sa Galaad: Kong kamo magadala kanako pag-usab sa akong balay aron sa pag-away batok sa mga anak sa Ammon, ug si Jehova magatugyan kanila sa atubangan ko: Mahimo ba ako nga inyong pangulo?
And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead—If ye do bring me back to do battle with the sons of Ammon, and Yahweh deliver them up before me, shall, I myself, become your head?
10 Ug ang mga anciano sa Galaad miingon kang Jephte: Si Jehova maoy magamatuod sa taliwala kanato; sa pagkatinuod sumala sa imong pulong mao man ang among pagabuhaton.
And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah—Yahweh himself, will be hearkening between us, if, according to thy word, so, we do not.
11 Unya si Jephte miadto kuyog sa mga anciano sa Galaad ug ang katawohan naghimo kaniya nga pangulo ug magbubot sa ibabaw kanila: ug si Jephte namulong sa tanan niyang mga pulong sa atubangan ni Jehova sa Mizpa.
Then went Jephthah with the elders of Gilead, and the people set him over them, as head and commander, —and Jephthah spake all his words before Yahweh, in Mizpah.
12 Ug si Jephte nagpadala ug mga sulogoon ngadto sa hari sa anak sa Ammon, nga nagaingon: Unsay imong labut kanako, nga ikaw mianhi sa pagpakig-away batok sa akong yuta?
So then Jephthah sent messengers unto the king of the sons of Ammon, saying, —What occasion is there between us, that thou shouldst have come unto me, to fight against my land?
13 Ug ang hari sa mga anak sa Ammon mitubag sa mga sulogoon ni Jephte: Tungod kay ang Israel mikuha sa akong yuta sa diha nga siya mianhi gikan sa Egipto, gikan sa Arnon bisan hangtud sa Jaboc, ug ngadto sa Jordan. Busa karon, sa ingon niini iuli kadtong mga yutaa pag-usab sa kalinaw.
And the king of the sons of Ammon said unto the messengers of Jephthah—Because Israel took away my land, when they came up out of Egypt, from Arnon even unto the Jabbok, and unto the Jordan, —now, therefore, restore them in peace.
14 Ug si Jephte nagpadala sa mga sulogoon pag-usab ngadto sa hari sa mga anak sa Ammon;
And Jephthah yet once more sent messengers unto the king of the sons of Ammon;
15 Ug siya miingon kaniya: Sa maong pagkaagi namulong si Jephte: Wala kuhaa sa Israel ang yuta sa Moab, ni ang yuta sa mga anak sa Ammon;
and said unto him, Thus, saith Jephthah, —Israel took not away the land of Moab, or the land of the sons of Ammon;
16 Apan sa diha nga ming-anhi sila gikan sa Egipto, ug nga ang Israel miagi sa kamingawan ngadto sa Dagat nga Mapula, ug miabut sa Cades;
for, when they came up out of Egypt, and Israel journeyed through the desert as far as the Red Sea, and came in unto Kadesh,
17 Unya ang Israel nagpadala ug mga sulogoon ngadto sa hari sa Edom, nga nagaingon: Tuguti ako, naghangyo ako kanimo, sa pag-agi sa imong yuta. Apan ang hari sa Edom wala mamati. Ug sa maong pagkaagi siya nagpadala ngadto sa hari sa Moab; apan siya wala bumuot; ug ang Israel mipuyo sa Cades.
then did Israel send messengers unto the king of Edom, saying—Let me pass, I pray thee, through thy land, but the king of Edom hearkened not, unto the king of Moab also, sent they, but he would not consent, —so Israel abode in Kadesh.
18 Unya sila minglatas sa kamingawan, ug minglibut sa yuta sa Edom, ug sa yuta sa Moab, ug ming-abut nga miagi duol sa silangan nga utlanan sa yuta sa Moab, ug mingpahamutang sa laing pikas sa Arnon; apan wala sila moanhi sa sulod sa utlanan sa Moab kay ang Arnon maoy utlanan sa Moab.
Then journeyed they through the desert, and went round the land of Edom, and the land of Moab, and so came, from the rising of the sun, to the land of Moab, but encamped beyond Arnon, —and entered not within the boundary of Moab, for, Arnon, is the boundary of Moab.
19 Ug ang Israel nagpadala ug mga sulogoon ngadto kang Sihon, hari sa mga Amorehanon, ang hari sa Hesbon; ug ang Israel miingon kaniya: Paagia kami, nagahangyo kami kanimo, latas sa imong yuta ngadto sa akong dapit.
Then did Israel send messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, king of Heshbon, —and Israel said unto him, Let us pass, we pray thee, through thy land as far as my own place.
20 Apan si Sihon wala sumalig sa Israel sa pagpaagi sulod sa iyang utlanan; hinonoa si Sihon nagtapok sa tanan niyang katawohan ug nagpahaluna sa Jaas, ug nakig-away batok sa Israel.
But Sihon trusted not Israel, to pass through his boundary, so Sihon gathered together all his people, and encamped in Jahaz, —and fought against Israel.
21 Ug si Jehova, ang Dios sa Israel, nagtugyan kang Sihon ug ang tanan niyang katawohan ngadto sa kamot sa Israel, ug ilang gidasmagan sila: busa ang Israel nagpanag-iya sa tanan nga yuta sa mga Amorehanon nga nanagpuyo niadtong yutaa.
Then did Yahweh, God of Israel, deliver up Sihon, and all his people, into the hand of Israel, and they smote them, —so Israel took possession of all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that land.
22 Ug ilang gipanag-iya ang tanan nga utlanan sa mga Amorehanon sukad sa Arnon bisan hangtud sa Jaboc, ug sukad sa kamingawan bisan hangtud ngadto sa Jordan.
Yea they took possession of all the territory of the Amorites, —from Arnon, even as far as the Jabbok, and from the desert, even as far as the Jordan.
23 Busa karon si Jehova, ang Dios sa Israel, naghingilin sa mga Amorehanon sa atubangan sa iyang katawohan nga Israel, ug buot ba ikaw nga magpanag-iya niana?
Now, therefore, it was, Yahweh God of Israel, that dispossessed the Amorites from before his people Israel, —and shalt, thou, possess it?
24 Dili mo ba panag-iyahon kadtong gihatag kanimo ni Chemos nga imong dios sa pagpanag-iya? Busa bisan kinsa nga pagahinginlan ni Jehova nga among Dios gikan sa among atubangan, kanila magapanag-iya kami.
What Chemosh thy god giveth thee to possess, that, wilt thou not possess? and, whatsoever Yahweh our God hath set before us to possess, that, shall we not possess?
25 Ug karon ikaw maarang-arang pa ba kay kang Barac ang anak nga lalake ni Zipor, ang hari sa Moab? Nanlimbasug ba siya batok sa Israel kun nakig-away ba siya batok kanila?
Now, therefore, art thou, really better, than Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab? Hath there been any, striving at all, with Israel, or any, fighting at all, with them,
26 Samtang ang Israel nagpuyo pa sa Hesbon ug mga lungsod niini, ug sa Aroer ug sa mga lungsod niini, ug sa tanang mga ciudad nga anaa duol sa daplin sa Arnon totolo ka gatus ka tuig; busa nganong wala ninyo bawia sila sulod nianang panahona?
all the time that Israel hath been dwelling in Heshbon and in her towns, and in Aroer and in her towns, and in all the cities that are on the banks of Arnon, —for three hundred years? Wherefore, then, have ye not made a rescue within that time?
27 Ako sa ingon niini, wala makasala batok kanimo, apan ikaw nakabuhat ug kadautan kanako sa pagpakiggubat batok kanako: Si Jehova, ang Maghuhukom, maoy magahukom niining adlawa sa taliwala sa mga anak sa Israel ug sa mga anak sa Ammon.
I, therefore, have not sinned against thee; but, thou, art doing me a wrong, in fighting against me, —Let Yahweh, the Judge, give judgment today, between the sons of Israel, and the sons of Ammon!
28 Apan ang hari sa mga anak sa Ammon wala mamati sa mga pulong ni Jephte nga iyang gipadala kaniya.
But the king of the sons of Ammon hearkened not unto the words of Jephthah, which he sent unto him.
29 Unya ang Espiritu ni Jehova mikunsad kang Jephte, ug miagi siya sa Galaad ug Manases, ug miagi sa Mizpa sa Galaad, ug gikan sa Mizpa sa Galaad siya miagi ngadto sa mga anak sa Ammon.
Then came upon Jephthah the spirit of Yahweh, and he passed through Gilead and Manasseh, —and passed through Mizpeh of Gilead, and, from Mizpeh of Gilead, he passed through [unto] the sons of Ammon.
30 Ug si Jephte nagsaad ug usa ka panaad kang Jehova, ug miingon: Kong sa pagkatinuod ikaw magatugyan sa mga anak sa Ammon nganhi sa akong kamot.
And Jephthah vowed a vow unto Yahweh, and said, —If thou wilt, deliver, the sons of Ammon into my hand,
31 Nan kini mamao gayud, nga bisan unsa nga mogula sa pultahan sa akong balay sa pagsugat kanako, sa diha nga ako magapauli sa kalinaw gikan sa mga anak sa Ammon, kana maiya ni Jehova, ug ako magahalad niana alang sa usa ka halad-nga-sinunog.
then shall it be, that, whosoever cometh forth out of the doors of my house, to meet me, when I return successful, from the sons of Ammon, shall belong unto Yahweh, and I will offer him up, as an ascending-sacrifice.
32 Busa si Jephte miadto sa mga anak sa Ammon aron sa pagpakig-away batok kanila; ug si Jehova nagtugyan kanila ngadto sa iyang kamot.
So then Jephthah passed over unto the sons of Ammon, to fight against them, —and Yahweh delivered them into his hand;
33 Ug gilaglag sila niya sukad sa Aroer hangtud nga midangat ka sa Minnith, bisan pa may kaluhaan ka ciudad ug ngadto sa Abel-queramim uban ang daku kaayong pagpamatay. Busa ang mga anak sa Ammon nalupigan sa atubangan sa mga anak sa Israel.
and he smote them, from Aroer even till thou enterest in to Minnith, even twenty cities, and as far as Abel-keramim, with an exceeding great smiting, —and thus were the sons of Ammon subdued before the sons of Israel.
34 Ug si Jephte miabut sa Mizpa ngadto sa iyang balay; ug ania karon, ang iyang anak nga babaye migula sa pagsugat kaniya uban ang mga tulonggon ug mga pagsayaw: ug siya mao lamang ang iyang anak; gawas kaniya, siya walay anak nga lalake ni anak nga babaye.
Then came Jephthah towards Mizpah, unto his own house, and lo! his daughter, coming forth to meet him, with timbrels, and with dances, —and, she, was none other than his only child, he had not, besides her, either son or daughter.
35 Ug nahitabo, sa diha nga siya na kakita kaniya, nga iyang gigisi ang iyang mga saput, ug miingon: Alaut ako, anak ko nga babaye! gipaubos mo gayud ako, ug ikaw maoy usa niadto kanila nga nagasamok kanako; kay gibungat ko ang akong baba kang Jehova, ug ako dili na makasibug.
And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said—Alas! my daughter, Thou hast, brought me low, Even, thou, hast come to be among them who trouble me, —Yet, I, opened wide my mouth unto Yahweh, and cannot go back.
36 Ug siya miingon kaniya: Amahan ko, ikaw nagbungat sa imong baba kang Jehova; buhata kanako sumala niadtong migula sa imong baba, kay ingon nga si Jehova nanimalus alang kanimo sa imong mga kaaway, bisan sa mga anak sa Ammon.
And she said unto him—My father! Thou hast opened wide thy mouth unto Yahweh, Do with me, according to that which hath gone forth out of thy mouth, —after that Yahweh hath exacted for thee an avenging from thine enemies, from the sons of Ammon.
37 Ug siya miingon sa iyang amahan: Pasagdi nga buhaton kining butanga kanako: pasagdi ako nga mag-inusara sa duha ka bulan, aron ako mopahawa ug moadto sa kabukiran, ug magbakho sa akong pagkaulay, ako ug ang akong mga kauban.
And she said unto her father, Let this thing, be done for me, —Let me alone two months, that I may depart, and go down upon the mountains, and bewail my virginity, I and my companions.
38 Ug siya miingon: Lakaw. Ug siya nagpapahawa kaniya sa duruha ka bulan: ug siya milakaw, siya ug ang iyang mga kauban, ug nagbakho sa iyang pagkaulay sa ibabaw sa kabukiran.
And he said—Depart. So he let her go, for two months, —and she departed, she and her companions, and bewailed her virginity, upon the mountains.
39 Ug nahitabo nga sa katapusan sa duruha ka bulan, siya mipauli ngadto sa iyang amahan, nga naghimo kaniya sumala sa iyang panaad nga iyang gisaad: ug siya wala makaila ug lalake. Ug kadto maoy usa ka batasan sa Israel,
And it came to pass, at the end of two months, that she returned unto her father, and he fulfilled on her his vow which he had vowed, —she not having known man. And it became a statute, in Israel: —
40 Nga ang mga anak nga babaye sa Israel magaadtoan tuigtuig sa pagpasidungog sa anak nga babaye ni Jephte ang Galaadhanon sa upat ka adlaw sulod sa usa ka tuig.
From year to year, departed the daughters of Israel, to lament aloud for the daughter of Jephthah, the Gileadite, four days in the year.
