Jeremias 49

1 Mahatungod sa mga anak sa Ammon. Mao kini ang giingon ni Jehova: Wala bay mga anak nga lalake ang Israel? wala ba siyay manununod? nan ngano man nga si Malcam nanag-iya sa Gad, ug ang iyang katawohan nagapuyo sa mga ciudad niini?

[This message is] about the Ammon people-group. This is what Yahweh says: “There are [RHQ] plenty of Israeli people left to occupy [the land of the tribe of] Gad. So, why are [RHQ] [the people who worship the god] Molech living in those towns?

2 Busa, ania karon, ang mga adlaw miabut na, nagaingon si Jehova, nga akong ipagubok ang usa ka pahibalo sa gubat batok sa Rabba sa mga anak sa Ammon; ug kini mahimong biniyaan nga tinapok, ug ang iyang mga anak nga babaye pagasunogon sa kalayo: unya ang Israel maoy makapanag-iya kanila nga makapanag-iya kaniya, nagaingon si Jehova.

There will be a time when I will sound the battle-cry [for their enemies] to attack [their capital city], Rabbah. [Then] it will become a heap of ruins, and [all] the nearby towns will be burned. Then [the people of] Israel will again possess the land that the Ammon people-group took away from them.

3 Magminatay ka, Oh Hesbon, tungod kay ang Ai nabungkag na! managtiyabaw kamo, mga anak nga babaye sa Rabba, managtapis kamo ug sako: managminatay kamo, ug managbalikbalik pagdalagan haduol sa mga koral; kay si Malcam pagabihagon; ang iyang mga sacerdote ug ang iyang mga principe mahilakip.

You people of Heshbon [city] [MTY], wail, because Ai [town nearby] will be destroyed. You people of Rabbah [city], weep; put on (rough clothing/sackcloth) [to show you are mourning]; run back and forth [in confusion] inside the city walls, because [your god] Milcom, along with its priests and officials, will be taken away (in exile/to other countries).

4 Ngano man nga nagahimaya ka didto sa kawalogan, ang nagapaagay mong walog, Oh malapasong anak nga babaye? nga nagsalig sa iyang mga bahandi, nga nagaingon: Kinsay moanhi kanako?

You are [RHQ] very proud of your very fertile valleys, [but they will soon be ruined]. You rebellious people, you trusted in your wealth, and you said, ‘Certainly no [RHQ] army will be able to attack us!’

5 Ania karon, dad-an ko ikaw ug usa ka kahadlok, nagaingon ang Ginoo, si Jehova sa mga panon, gikan sa tanan nga nanaglibut kanimo; ug kamo abugon sa gawas ang tagsatagsa ka tawo sa laktod, ug didto walay magahipos sa mga kagiw.

But listen to this: 'I, the Commander of the armies of angels, will cause you to become terrified. You will all be forced to flee [to other countries], and no one will be able to bring you together [again].'

6 Ug sa tapus niini igauli ko gikan sa pakabinihag ang mga anak sa Ammon, nagaingon si Jehova.

But some day I will enable the Ammon people-group to return to their land. [That will surely happen, because I, ] Yahweh, have said it.”

7 Mahatungod sa Edom: Mao kini ang giingon ni Jehova sa mga panon: Wala na ba ang kinaadman sa Teman? nawala ba ang pagtambag gikan sa mga tawong buotan? nawagtang ba ang ilang kinaadman?

[This message is] about the Edom people-group. This is what the Commander of the armies of angels says: “It seems that [RHQ] there are no wise people in Teman [district in Edom]! There are no people left who can give others [good] advice. The people who were wise [PRS] have disappeared.

8 Kumalagiw kamo, bumalik, pumuyo sa mga kinahiladman, Oh mga pumoluyo sa Denan; kay dad-on ko ang kaalaut ni Esau sa ibabaw niya, sa panahon nga ako modu-aw kaniya.

You people of Dedan [city in the south of Edom], turn and flee and hide in deep [caves], because when I cause the Edom people-group to experience disaster, I will punish you, too.

9 Keng ang mga mamumupo sa parras moanhi kanimo, dili ba sila magabilin ug pipila ka mga halagdawon nga parras? kong may mga kawatan sa gabii, dili ba laglagon nila hangtud nga sila makabaton ug igo nga gidaghanon?

Those who harvest grapes always [RHQ] leave some on the vines. When thieves come at night, they surely [RHQ] steal only as much as they want.

10 Apan gihimo ko si Esau nga hubo, akong gibuksan ang iyang mga tinago nga mga dapit, ug siya dili makatago sa iyang kaugalingon: ang iyang kaliwatan gilaglag, ug ang iyang mga igsoon, ug ang iyang mga silingan; ug siya gipuo na.

But I will cause everything in Edom to be destroyed, and there will be nothing left, and there will be no place for people to hide. [Many of] [HYP] the children, their relatives and their neighbors, will die, and Edom will not exist any more.

11 Biyai ang imong mga anak nga ilo, alimahan ko sila nga buhi; ug ang imong mga balo pasaliga kanako.

But I will protect the orphans, and the widows [also] will [be able to] depend on me [to help them].”

12 Kay mao kini ang giingon ni Jehova: Ania karon, kadtong natudlo sa dili pag-inum sa copa sa pagkamatuod magainum; ug ikaw ba kadtong dili gayud pahamtangan sa silot? dili ka mahigawas sa silot, kondili magainum ka gayud sa pagkatinuod.

And this is [also] what Yahweh says: “If those who do not deserve to suffer [MET] must suffer, you people of Edom must [RHQ] suffer much more [DOU]! You will not escape being punished.

13 Kay ako nanumpa sa akong kaugalingon, nagaingon si Jehova, nga ang Bosra mahimong usa nga makapatingala, usa ka talamayon, usa ka awa-aw, ug usa ka tinunglo; ug ang tanang mga ciudad niana mangahimong walay katapusan nga pagkaawa-aw.

I, Yahweh, have solemnly promised, using my own name, that [your chief city] Bozrah will become a place that people will be horrified about. It will be a heap of ruins. People will make fun of it and use its name when they curse people. All the nearby towns and villages will be a ruins forever.”

14 Ako nakadungog ug mga balita gikan kang Jehova, ug usa ka sinugo nga gipadala ngadto sa mga nasud, nga nagaingon: Managtigum kamo, ug umadto kamo batok kanya, ug manindog sa panggubatan.

I heard this message from Yahweh: “I have sent an ambassador to [many] nations, [to tell them to] gather together to attack Edom. They must prepare for battle!”

15 Kay, ania karon, ikaw gihimo ko nga gamay sa taliwala sa mga nasud, ug tinamay sa taliwala sa mga tawo.

[And Yahweh says to the people of Edom, ] “I will cause your nation to become very unimportant among the [other] nations. They will all despise your country.

16 Mahitungod sa imong pagkamakalilisang, ang garbo sa imong kasingkasing naglimbong kanimo, Oh ikaw nga nagapuyo sulod sa mga liki sa pangpang, nga nagahupot sa kahitas-an sa bukid: bisan himoon mo ang imong salag ingon sa kahataas sa agila, taktakon ko ikaw sa ubos gikan didto, nagaingon si Jehova.

You have caused [people of other nations] to be terrified, and you [MTY] have been very proud, but you have deceived yourselves. You live in caves in the rock cliffs; [you think that you are safe there because] you live high up there. But even if you make your homes as high up as the eagles’ nests, I will cause you to come [crashing] down.

17 Ug ang Edom mahimong usa nga makapatingala: ang tanan nga moagi niini mahitingala ug magasitsit uban ang pagbiaybiya tungod sa tanang mga hampak niini.

Edom will become a place about which people are horrified; people who pass by will be horrified and will (gasp/be shocked) when they see the destruction.

18 Ingon sa pagkalaglag sa Sodoma ug Gomorra ug sa mga silingang ciudad niini, nagaingon si Jehova, walay usa ka tawo nga magapabilin didto, ni may usa ka anak sa tawo nga mopuyo didto.

Edom will be destroyed as [completely as] Sodom and Gomorrah and the nearby towns were destroyed [long ago]. [As a result, ] no one will live there [any more] [DOU].

19 Ania karon, siya moanhi ingon sa usa ka leon nga gikan garbo sa katubigan sa Jordan batok sa puloy-anan nga malig-on: kay dihadiha padalaganon ko sila gikan niini; ug bisan kinsa nga pagapilion, itudlo ko siya ibabaw niini; kay kinsa man ang sama kanako? ug kinsa ang motudlo kanako sa panahon? ug kinsa ang magbalantay sa carnero nga motindog sa akong atubangan?

I will come to Edom [suddenly] like [SIM] a lion comes out of the jungle and [leaps on the sheep that are] eating in the good pastureland. I will quickly chase the people of Edom from their land. And [then] I will appoint for them a leader whom I will choose; [I can do that] because there is no one [RHQ] like me who can object to what I do. No ruler can oppose me.

20 Busa pamati kamo sa tambag ni Jehova, nga iyang nakuha batok sa Edom; ug ang iyang mga tinguha nga iyang gihunahuna batok sa mga pumuluyo sa Teman: Sa pagkamatuod pagaguyuron sila sa halayo bisa pa ang labing gagmay sa panon; sa pagkatinuod buhaton niya nga mahimong kamingawan ang ilang puloy-anan batok kanila.

Listen to what I have planned to do to the people of Teman [town] and [the rest of] Edom: Even the little children will be dragged away, and I will completely get rid of the people [MET] who live there.

21 Ang yuta mikurog sa dinahunog sa ilang pagkapukan; may usa ka pagsinggit nga ang kagahub niini nadungog sa Dagat nga Mapula.

When Edom is destroyed, the noise [will be extremely great], with the result that the earth will shake, and the wailing of the people will be heard [as far away as] the Red Sea.

22 Ania karon, siya mosaka ug molupad sama sa agila, ug mobuklad sa iyang mga pako ibabaw sa Bosra: ug niadtong adlawa ang kasingkasing sa mga malig-ong tawo sa Edom mahimong ingon sa kasingkasing sa usa ka babaye nga anaa sa iyang mga kasakit sa pag-anak.

Look! The enemy troops will swoop/rush down over Bozrah like an eagle spreads its wings when it swoops down [to seize an animal]. On that day, [even the strongest] warriors of Edom will [be afraid] like [SIM] a woman who is about to give birth.”

23 Mahatungod sa Damasco. Ang Hamat nalibog, ug ang Arpad; tungod kay sila nakadungog ug dautang mga balita, sila nangalun-os tungod sa kakuyaw; adunay kasubo didto sa dagat; dili mahimo nga malinaw.

[This message is] about Damascus. [This is what Yahweh says]: “[The people in the nearby cities of] Hamath and Arpad are confused, because they have heard bad news [about Damascus]. They are very anxious and restless, like [SIM] a sea in a big storm.

24 Ang Damasco nahimong maluya, ug miliso sa iyang kaugalingon sa pagdalagan, ug ang kahadlok midakup kaniya: kaguol ug mga kasubo migahum kaniya, ingon sa usa ka babaye nga nagaanak.

The people of Damascus have become very weak, and [they all] have (panicked/fled [because] they are very afraid). The people are anguished and in pain like [SIM] a woman [experiences] who is about to give birth.

25 Naunsa nga ang ciudad sa pagdayeg wala biyai, ang ciudad sa akong kalipay?

That famous city, that I was [previously] pleased with, will be abandoned.

26 Busa ang iyang mga batan-ong lalake mangapukan sa iyang kadalanan ug ang tanang mga tawo sa gubat pagadad-on ngadto sa kahulim niadtong adlawa, nagaingon si Jehova sa mga panon.

Its young men will fall in the streets. Its soldiers will all be killed in one day.

27 Ug dauban ko sa kalayo ang kuta sa Damasco, ug lamyon niini ang mga palacio ni Ben-hadad.

And I, the Commander of the armies of angels, will start a fire to burn the walls that surround Damascus, and the palaces of [King] Ben-Hadad will be burned down.”

28 Mahatungod kang Cedar ug mahatungod sa mga gingharian ni Hasor, nga gilaglag ni Nabucodonosor hari sa Babilonia. Mao kini ang giingon ni Jehova: Manindog kamo, lumakaw ngadto sa Cedar, ug laglagon ninyo ang mga anak sa sidlakan.

[This is a message] about the Kedar [people-group] and the kingdom of Hazor which [the army of] Nebuchadnezzar King of Babylon attacked. This is what Yahweh says: “[I will cause an army to] advance to attack Kedar and destroy those people who live east [of Judah].

29 Ang ilang mga balong-balong ug ang ilang mga panon ilang panad-on; ilang dad-on alang sa ilang mga kaugalingon ang ilang mga tabil, ug ang tanan nilang mga sudlanan, ug ang ilang mga camello; ug sila singgitan nila: Ang kalisang anaa sa luyo ug luyo.

Their tents and their flocks [of sheep] will be captured. The curtains [in their tents] and their camels and their other possessions will be taken away. [Everywhere] men will shout, ‘We are terrified [because terrible things are happening] all around us!’

30 Mangalagiw kamo, manglaag kamo ngadto sa halayo, managpuyo kamo sa mga kahiladman, Oh kamo nga mga pumoluyo sa Hasor, nagaingon si Jehova; kay si Nabucodonosor nga hari sa Babilonia nakigsabutsabut batok kaninyo, ug naglalang dautang tuyo batok kaninyo.

So [I, ] Yahweh, say, ‘Run away [quickly]! You people who live in Hazor, go and hide in deep [caves], because King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon wants to attack you [with his army]; he is planning to destroy you!’

31 Panindog, panlakaw kamo ngadto sa nasud nga anaa sa kasayon, nga nagapuyo nga walay kaawa, nagaingon si Jehova; nga walay mga ganghaan ni mga trangka nga nagapuyo nga nagainusara.

But I say [to Nebuchadnezzar], ‘Go up and attack that nation whose people feel secure; they do not have allies [who will help them] and do not have [walls with] gates that have bars in them.

32 Ug ang ilang mga camello mahimong tinulis, ug ang panon sa ilang mga vaca mahimong inagaw: ug akong patibulaagon ngadto sa tanang mga hulongawan sa hangin, kadtong tanan nga nanagpaalot sa mga nasikohan sa ilang mga buhok; ug ipadala ko ang ilang kadaut gikan sa ilang tanan nga kadaplinan, nagaingon si Jehova.

Your troops will seize their camels and [other] livestock. I will scatter in every direction [IDM] those people who live in remote places (OR, who cut their hair short). I will cause them to experience disasters from every direction.

33 Ug ang Hasor mahimong puloy-anan sa mga iro nga ihalas, usa ka biniyaan nga walay katapusan: didto walay tawo nga magapuyo, ni may usa ka anak sa tawo nga magapuyo didto.

Hazor will become a place where jackals/wolves live, and it will be deserted forever. No one will live there again; no one will settle there [DOU].’”

34 Ang pulong ni Jehova nga midangat kang Jeremias nga managlagna mahitungod sa Elam, sa sinugdan sa paghari ni Sedechias nga hari sa Juda, nga nagaingon:

I received this message from Yahweh when King Zedekiah was starting to rule Judah.

35 Mao kini ang giingon ni Jehova sa mga panon: Ania karon, akong balion ang pana sa Elam, ang punoan sa ilang kalig-on.

This is what the Commander of the armies of angels says: “The men of Elam are famous (archers/men who shoot arrows well); that is how they have made their country very powerful. But I will get rid of them [MET].

36 Ug sa Elam dad-on ko ang upat ka mga hangin nga gikan sa upat ka mga bahin sa langit, ug pagatibulaagon ko sila ngadto niadtong tanan nga mga hangin; ug walay nasud nga dili pagaadtoan sa mga sinalikway sa Elam.

I will bring their enemies from all directions [IDM, DOU], and they will scatter the people of Elam in all directions. The people of Elam will be exiled to every nation on the earth [LIT, HYP].

37 Ug akong ipalisang ang Elam sa atubangan sa ilang mga kaaway, ug sa atubangan niadtong nagapangita sa ilang kinabuhi: ug dad-an ko sila ug kadaut, bisan pa ang akong mabangis nga kasuko, nagaingon si Jehova; ug ipadala ko ang espada sunod kanila, hangtud nga mangaut-ut ko sila:

Because I am very angry with the people of Elam, I will enable their enemies to smash Elam; I will cause the people of Elam to experience great disasters. I will enable their enemies, who want to kill them, to pursue them [and kill them] with swords until I completely get rid of all of them.

38 Ug ipahaluna ko ang akong trono sa Elam, ug gikan didto laglagon ko ang hari ug ang mga principe, nagaingon si Jehova.

I, Yahweh, will judge them there [MTY], and [then] I will get rid of their king and [his] officials.

39 Apan mahatabo sa ulahing mga adlaw, nga dad-on ko pagbalik sila gikan sa pagkabinihag sa Elam, nagaingon si Jehova.

But some day, I will enable the people of Elam to return to their land. [That will surely happen because I, ] Yahweh, have said it.”
