Genesis 19
1 Ug ming-abut ang duruha ka mga manolonda didto sa Sodoma sa pagkahapon na: ug si Lot naglingkod sa ganghaan sa Sodoma. Ug sila hingkit-an ni Lot, ug mitindog siya sa pagdawat kanila, ug mihapa siya sa yuta.
That evening, the two angels arrived in Sodom. Lot was sitting at the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to greet them, and prostrated himself with his face on the ground.
2 Ug miingon siya: Busa karon, mga ginoo ko, ginapangaliyupo ko kaninyo nga mohapit una kamo sa balay sa inyong ulipon, ug mopabilin kamo sa tibook nga gabii, ug manghimasa kamo sa inyong mga tiil; ug sa pagkabuntag managpamangon kamo, ug managpadayon sa inyong paglakaw. Ug sila mitubag: Dili, kay sa dalan lamang mopahulay kami sa tibook nga gabii.
He said to them, “Gentlemen, please stay in my house tonight. You can wash your feet, and tomorrow you can continue your journey.” But they said, “No, we will just sleep in the city square.”
3 Apan siya nagpakilooy pag-ayo kanila, ug sila miuban kaniya, ug mingsulod sila sa iyang balay, ug sila gikombirahan niya, ug nagluto siya ug mga tinapay nga walay levadura, ug nangaon sila.
But Lot kept insisting strongly that they sleep in his house. So they entered his house with him, and he prepared a meal for them. He baked some bread without yeast, and they ate it.
4 Ug sa wala pa sila makahigda, ang balay ni Lot gilibutan sa mga tawo sa Sodoma, ang tibook nga lungsod sa tingub, mga batan-on ug mga tigulang:
After they finished eating, before they went to bed, the men of Sodom [city], all of them, from the young ones to the old ones, surrounded the house.
5 Ug nanagtawag sila kang Lot, ug miingon kaniya: Hain ba ang mga tawo nga ming-anhi kanimo karong gabii? Pagulaa sila nganhi kanamo aron kami makaila kanila.
They called out to Lot, saying, “Where are the men who came to your house this evening? Bring them out, so that we can have sex with them!” [EUP]
6 Unya si Lot migula sa pultahan ngadto kanila, ug gitakpan niya ang mga pultahan sa likod niya.
Lot went outside the house and shut the door behind him, so that they could not go inside.
7 Ug miingon siya: Gipakilooy ko kaninyo, mga igsoon ko, nga dili kamo magbuhat sa hilabihang pagkadautan.
He said to them, “My friends, don’t do such an evil thing!
8 Ania karon, ako adunay duruha ka mga anak nga babaye nga wala pa makaila ug lalake; akong pagulaon sila nganha kaninyo, ug buhaton ninyo kanila ang maayo nga inyong gihunahuna: niini lamang nga mga tawo dili kamo magbuhat ug bisan unsa, kay sila mianhi sa landong sa akong atop.
Listen to me. I have two daughters who have never had sex with any man. Let me bring them out to you now, and you can do with them whatever pleases you. But don’t do anything to these men, because they are guests in my house, [so I must protect them]!”
9 Ug sila mingtubag: Pumahawa ka diha. Ug miingon pa sila: Mianhi kini dinhi sa pagpuyo ingon nga usa ka dumuloong, ug siya buot magakinahanglan sa pagkamaghuhukom? Karon among buhaton kanimo ang labing dautan pa kay kanila. Ug gibuhat nila ang dakung pagpugos sa tawo, bisan pa kang Lot, ug mingduol sila aron sa pagguba sa pultahan.
But they replied, “Get out of our way! You are a foreigner; so you have no right to tell us what is right! [If you don’t get out of our way], we will do worse things to you than we will do to them!” Then they lunged towards Lot, and tried forcefully to break down the door.
10 Unya gikab-ut sa mga tawo ang ilang kamot ug gisulod nila si Lot sa balay uban kanila, ug giserhan nila ang pultahan.
But the two angels opened the door carefully, reached out their hands, and pulled Lot to them inside the house. Then they quickly shut the door.
11 Ug gibutaan nila ang mga tawo nga diha sa pultahan sa balay, sukad sa labing diyutay hangtud sa labing dagku, sa pagpabuta kanila; ug nangaluya sila sa pagpangita sa pultahan.
Then they caused all the men who were outside the door of the house, young and old, to become blind, so that they could not find the door.
12 Ug miingon ang mga tawo kang Lot: Aduna ba ikaw dinhi ing kauban? Mga umagad nga lalake, ug ang imong mga anak nga babaye, ug ang tanan mga imo sa ciudad, ipagula mo sila niining dapita:
Then the two angels said to Lot, “Who else is with you here? If you have sons or sons-in-law or daughters or anyone else in the city who is related to you, take them out of the city,
13 Kay pagalaglagon namo kining dapita kay ang pagsinggit nila midangat gayud sa atubangan ni Jehova: busa si Jehova nagpaanhi kanamo sa paglaglag niini.
because we are the ones who are going to destroy this place. Yahweh considers that these people are so evil that he sent us to destroy the city.”
14 Unya migula si Lot, ug nagsulti sa iyang mga umagad nga nagpakaasawa sa iyang mga anak nga babaye, ug siya miingon kanila: Panindog kamo, pahawa kamo niining dapita; kay si Jehova magalaglag niining cundara. Apan alang sa iyang mga umagad, siya maingon sa daw nagatiaw-tiaw kanila.
So Lot went and spoke to the men who had pledged to marry his daughters. He said to them, “Hurry! Get out of this city, because Yahweh is about to destroy it!” But his future sons-in-law thought he was joking.
15 Ug sa pagbanagbanag sa kabuntagon, ang mga manolonda midali ngadto kang Lot ug nag-ingon sila; Tumindog ka, kuhaa ang imong asawa ug ang imong duruha ka mga anak nga babaye nga ania dinhi, aron dili ka masunog uban sa pagkadautan sa ciudad.
As it was about to dawn the next morning, the two angels urged Lot, saying, “Get up quickly! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here with you and leave! If you don’t, you will die when [we destroy/Yahweh destroys] the city!”
16 Apan siya naglanganlangan; ug ang mga tawo mingkupot sa iyang kamot, ug sa kamot sa iyang asawa ug sa mga kamot sa iyang duruha ka mga anak nga babaye, sanglit si Jehova nagmaloloy-on kaniya: ug ilang gidala siya, ug ilang gibutang siya sa gawas sa ciudad.
When Lot hesitated, the angels grasped his hand and his wife’s hand and the hands of his two daughters. They led them outside the city safely. The angels did that because Yahweh was acting mercifully toward them.
17 Ug nahitabo nga sa gipagawas na sila, miingon siya: Kumalagiw ka tungod sa imong kinabuhi; dili ka maglingi-lingi sa imong liked ni mohunong ka niining tibook nga Kapatagan; kumalagiw ka paingon sa bukid, aron dili ka masuno.
When they were outside the city, one of the angels said, “[If you want to remain alive], run away quickly! Don’t look back! And don’t stop anywhere in the valley! Flee to the hills! If you don’t, you will die!”
18 Ug si Lot miingon kanila: O, dili unta mahimo kini, mga ginoo ko;
But Lot said to one of the angels, “No, sir, don’t make me do that!
19 Ania karon, ang imong ulipon nakakaplag ug gracia sa imong atubangan, ug gipadaku mo ang imong mahigugmac ng kalolot nga gipakita mo kanako sa paghatag kanako ug kinabuhi; apan dili ako makakalagiw ngadto sa bukid, tingali kaha maalaut ako sa kadaut ug mamatay ako.
Please, listen. You have been pleased with me and have been very kind to me and spared my life. But I cannot flee to the mountain. If I try to do that, I will die in this disaster [PRS].
20 Ania karon, kining ciudara haduol nga kalagiwan, ug kini diyutay man; pagkalagiwa ako didto (dili ba kini diyutay?) ug mabuhi ang akong kalag.
But listen to me. There is a town nearby. Let me run to that small town. Let me go there now. It is a small town, but our lives will be saved if we go there.”
21 Ug siya mitubag kaniya: Tan-awa, gidawat ko usab ang imong gipangayo mahitungod niini, ug dili ko pagalaglagon kining ciudad nga imong gihisgutan.
One of the angels said to Lot, “I will allow you to do what you have requested [MTY]. I will not destroy the little town you are speaking about.
22 Dumali ka, kumalagiw ka didto; kay wala ako ing arang mabuhat hangtud nga moabut ka didto. Tungod niana gihinganlan ang ngalan sa ciudad nga Zoar.
But hurry! Run there, because I cannot destroy anything until you arrive there.” People later called the name of the town Zoar [which means ‘small’, ] because Lot said it was small.
23 Ang adlaw misidlak sa ibabaw sa yuta, sa pag-abut ni Lot sa Zoar.
As the sun was rising, Lot and his family arrived in the town which is now called Zoar.
24 Unya gipaulan ni Jehova sa Sodoma ug Gomorra ang azufre ug kalayo nga gikan kang Jehova didto sa langit;
Then Yahweh caused fire and [burning] sulfur to fall down on Sodom and Gomorrah like rain.
25 Ug gilaglag niya ang mga ciudad, ug kadtong tibook nga Kapatagan, uban ang tanan nga mga pumoluyo niadtong mga ciudara, ug kadtong nanagtubo sa yuta.
In that way, he destroyed those cities and all the people who were living in those cities. He also destroyed everything in the valley, including all the plants/vegetation.
26 Apan ang asawa ni Lot nga didto sa ulahi, milingi sa likod niya, ug nahimo siya nga haligi nga asin.
But Lot’s wife stopped and looked back [to see what was happening], so she died, and her body [later] became a pillar of salt.
27 Ug mitungas si Abraham sa bukid sa dapit diin siya mitindog sa atubangan ni Jehova,
That morning, Abraham got up and went to the place where he had stood in front of Yahweh.
28 Ug milantaw siya sa dapit sa Sodoma ug sa Gomorra, ug ngadto sa tibook nga yuta niadtong Kapatagan ug nakita niya; ug ania karon, ang aso nagautbo gikan sa yuta, ingon sa aso sa usa ka hudne.
He looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and he [was surprised to] see that all over the valley, smoke was rising, like the smoke of a huge furnace.
29 Ug nahitabo, nga sa gilaglag sa Dios ang mga ciudad sa Kapatagan, nga nahinumdum ang Dios kang Abraham, ug gipagawas si Lot gikan sa taliwala sa pagkalaglag, sa paglaglag niya sa mga ciudad nga gipuy-an ni Lot.
So, when God destroyed those cities in the valley, he remembered what he had promised Abraham, and he rescued Lot from the disaster that occurred in the cities where Lot had lived.
30 Apan si Lot mitungas gikan sa Zoar, ug mipuyo didto sa bukid, ug ang iyang duruha ka mga anak nga babaye uban kaniya; kay nahadlok siya sa pagpuyo sa Zoar, ug mingpuyo siya sa usa ka langub, siya ug ang iyang duruha ka mga anak nga babaye.
Lot was afraid to stay in Zoar, so he left there and moved with his two daughters to the mountain, and they lived in a cave.
31 Ug ang magulang miingon sa manghud: Ang atong amahan tigulang na, ug walay lalake sa yuta nga moduol kanato ingon sa nabatasan sa tibook nga yuta:
One day the older daughter said to (the younger daughter/her sister), “Our father is old, and there is no man in this area who can have sex [EUP] with us, as people all over the earth do.
32 Umari ka, paimnon ta ug vino ang atong amahan, ug motipon kita paghigda kaniya, aron makahawid kita ug kaliwatan gikan sa atong amahan.
Let’s make our father drink wine until he gets drunk. Then we can have sex with him [EUP] [without him knowing it]. In that way [he will cause us to become pregnant] and we can bear children.”
33 Ug ilang gipainum ug vino ang ilang amahan niadtong gabhiona; ug misulod ang magulang, ug mikatulog nga ipon sa iyang amahan; apan wala siya manghibalo sa paghigda niya, bisan sa pagbangon niya.
So that night they caused their father to become drunk. And the older daughter went in and lay in bed with her father, and he had sex with her, but he was so drunk that he did not know when she lay down with him or when she got up.
34 Sa adlaw nga misunod miingon ang magulang sa manghud: Tan-awa, mikatulog ako kagabii nga ipon sa akong amahan; paimnon ta usab siya ug vino karong gabii; ug sumulod ka ug motipon pagkatulog uban kaniya, aron nga makahawid kita ug kaliwatan gikan sa atong amahan.
The next day, his older daughter said to (his younger daughter/her sister), “Listen to me. Last night I slept with our father. Let’s cause him to become drunk again tonight! This time you can go and sleep with him. If he has sex with you, you can become pregnant, and that way you can have a child, too.”
35 Ug ilang gipainum ug vino usab ang ilang amahan niadtong gabhiona; ug mibangon ang manghud ug mitipon pagkatulog kaniya; apan wala siya makamatngon sa paghigda niya, bisan sa pagbangon niya.
So that night, they caused their father to become drunk with wine again, and then his younger daughter went and slept with him. But again, he was so drunk that he did not know when she lay down with him or when she got up.
36 Niana nanamkon ang duruha ka mga anak nga babaye ni Lot gikan sa ilang amahan.
So Lot caused his two daughters to become pregnant.
37 Ug nanganak ang magulang ug usa ka anak nga lalake, ug gihinganlan niya ang iyang ngalan si Moab, nga mao ang amahan sa mga Moabitanhon hangtud karong adlawa.
The older one later gave birth to a son, whom she named Moab. He became the ancestor of the Moab people-group.
38 Ang manghud nanganak usab ug usa ka anak nga lalake, ug gihinganlan niya ang iyang ngalan si Ben-ammi, nga mao ang amahan sa mga Amonihanon hangtud karong adlawa.
The younger one also gave birth to a son, whom she named Ben-Ammi. He became the ancestor of the Ammon people-group.
