Genesis 13

1 Ug si Abram mitungas gikan sa Egipto padulong sa habagatan, siya ug ang iyang asawa, ug ang tanan nga iya, ug uban kaniya si Lot.

So Abram left Egypt and went back into the Negev along with Sarai, Lot, and everyone with them, as well as all their possessions.

2 Ug si Abram dato kaayo sa kahayupan, sa salapi ug sa bulawan.

Abram was very rich, having many herds of livestock and a great deal of silver and gold.

3 Ug siya mipadayon gikan sa habagatan hangtud sa Bethel, hangtud sa dapit nga una nga nahamutangan sa iyang balongbalong, sa taliwala sa Bethel ug Hai.

He left the Negev and traveled in stages to Bethel, back to the place where he'd camped before, between Bethel and Ai.

4 Hangtud sa dapit sa halaran nga unang gibuhat niya didto; ug didto si Abram nangaliya sa ngalan ni Jehova.

This was where he'd first built an altar. He worshiped the Lord there as he had done previously.

5 Ug ingon usab si Lot, nga nagalakat uban kang Abram, may mga panon sa carnero ug panon sa vaca, ug mga balongbalong.

Lot, who was traveling with Abram, also had many flocks, herds, and tents,

6 Ug ang yuta wala makapaigo kanila, aron nga magapuyo sila nga magakatipon, kay ang ilang mga bahandi daghan, ug dili mahimo nga sila magpuyo nga magatipon.

so much so that the available land couldn't support both of them—they had so much livestock they couldn't stay together anymore.

7 Ug dihay pagkabingkil sa mga magbalantay sa kahayupan ni Abram ug sa mga magbalantay sa kahayupan ni Lot. Ug ang Canaanhon ug ang Persehanon nanagpuyo niadtong yutaa.

Abram's and Lot's herdsmen were arguing, and in addition the Canaanites and Perizzites were also living in the land at that time.

8 Ug si Abram miingon kang Lot: Hinaut unta nga walay pagkabingkil kanimo ug kanako, sa akong magbalantay ug sa imo, kay magsoon kita.

So Abram said to Lot, “Please don't let's have arguments between us, or between our herdsmen, because we're family.

9 Dili ba anaa man ang tibook nga yuta sa atubangan mo? Ginapakilooy ko kanimo, nga bumulag ka kanako. Kong umadto ka sa wala, ako moadto sa too, kong ikaw sa too, ako moadto sa wala.

You see all this land that's available right in front of you? We have to split up. If you choose to go to the left, I'll go to the right. If you choose to go to the right, I'll go to the left.”

10 Ug gihayat ni Lot ang iyang mga mata, ug nakita niya ang tanan nga Kapatagan sa Jordan, nga kini gibahaan pag-ayo sa tubig, sa wala pa malaglag ni Jehova ang Sodoma ug Gomorra sama sa tanaman ni Jehova, sama sa yuta sa Egipto, kong ikaw moadto paingon sa Zoar.

Lot looked over the whole Jordan valley towards Zoar, and saw that it was well-watered, looking like the Garden of Eden, like the land of Egypt. (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)

11 Unya gipili ni Lot alang kaniya ang tibook nga Kapatagan sa Jordan; ug mipadulong si Lot sa silangan. Ug nanagbulag sila ang usa ug usa.

So Lot chose the whole Jordan valley and went east, and the two separated from each other.

12 Si Abram mipuyo sa yuta sa Canaan, ug si Lot mipuyo sa mga lungsod sa Kapatagan, ug gibalhin niya ang iyang balongbalong hangtud sa Sodoma.

Abram went to live in the land of Canaan, while Lot settled down among the towns in the valley, setting up his tents near Sodom.

13 Karon ang mga tawo sa Sodoma mga dautan ug hilabihan gayud pagkamakasasala batok kang Jehova.

(The people of Sodom were very wicked, committing terrible sins that offended the Lord.)

14 Ug si Jehova nag-ingon kang Abram, sa human na si Lot makabulag kaniya: Iyahat karon ang imong mga mata, ug tuman-aw ka sukad sa dapit nga imong hingmutangan ngadto sa amihanan, ug ngadto sa habagatan ug ngadto sa silangan ug ngadto sa kasadpan.

After separating from Lot, the Lord told Abram, “Look around you from where you're standing, to the north, south, east, and west.

15 Kay ang tanan nga yuta nga imong gitan-aw, igahatag ko kanimo ug sa imong kaliwatan ngadto sa walay katapusan.

I'm giving all this land you see to you and your descendants forever.

16 Ug pagabuhaton ko ang imong kaliwatan nga ingon sa abug sa yuta, nga kong adunay tawo nga arang makaisip sa abug sa yuta, ang imong kaliwatan usab arang maisip.

You will have so many descendants that they'll be like the dust of the earth. If anyone could count dust then they could count the number of your descendants!

17 Tumindog ka, baktasa ang yuta sa iyang gitas-on ug sa iyang kalapdon, kay igahatag ko kini kanimo.

Go and walk through the whole land in all directions because I'm giving it to you.”

18 Ug gibalhin ni Abram ang iyang balongbalong, ug miadto ug gipahamutang kini sa kakahoyan sa Mamre, nga atua sa Hebron, ug nagtukod siya didto ug usa ka halaran alang kang Jehova.

So Abram went to live at Hebron, setting up his tents among the oaks at Mamre, where he built an altar to the Lord.
