Exodo 5
1 Ug unya miadto si Moises ug si Aaron kang Faraon, ug sila miingon kaniya: Si Jehova ang Dios sa Israel nagaingon niini: Tugoti ang akong katawohan sa pagpalakaw, sa paghimo ug fiesta alang kanako didto sa kamingawan.
Then Aaron and Moses/I went to the king and [one of them/us] said, “Yahweh God, whom [we] Israeli people [worship], says this [to you]: ‘Let my people go to the desert, in order that they may have a feast to [honor] me!’”
2 Ug si Faraon mitubag: Kinsa ba si Jehova aron magapatalinghug ako sa iyang tingog, ug magatugot ako sa pagpalakaw sa Israel? Ako wala makaila kang Jehova, dili usab ako motugot sa pagpalakaw sa Israel.
But the king said, “Who is Yahweh? Why should I pay attention to what he says and let the Israeli [people] [MTY] go? I do not know Yahweh! And furthermore, I will not let the Israeli [people] go!”
3 Ug sila miingon: Ang Dios sa mga Hebreohanon nakigkita kanamo: nangaliyupo kami kanimo, palakta kami sa totolo ka adlaw nga panaw ngadto sa kamingawan, ug pahalara kami kang Jehova nga among Dios: aron siya dili moabut sa ibabaw namo nga may kamatay kun espada.
They/we replied, “Yahweh God, the one we Hebrews [worship], has (revealed himself/appeared) to us [and told us what to tell you]. So we ask you to [please] let us go on a three day journey into the desert. We must offer sacrifices to Yahweh God [there]. [If we do] not do that, he will cause us to die [IDM] from diseases or from attacks [by our enemies] [MTY].”
4 Ug ang hari sa Egipto miingon kanila: Moises ug Aaron, ngano nga ginapahunong ninyo ang katawohan sa ilang bulohaton? Pangadto kamo sa inyong mga palas-anon.
But the king of Egypt said to them/us, “Moses and Aaron, (stop trying to keep the Israeli people from working/why are you preventing the Israeli people from working?) [RHQ] [Tell those slaves] to return to work!”
5 Ug miingon si Faraon: Ania karon, ang katawohan sa yuta daghan na, ug kamo nagpahunong kanila gikan sa ilang mga palas-anon.
The king also said, “Listen [to me! You] people [who now live] in this land are now [more] numerous, and you want them [to stop working and] rest!”
6 Ug niadtong maong adlawa nagsugo si Faraon sa mga tinugyanan sa buhat sa katawohan, ug sa ilang mga pangulo nga nagaingon:
That same day the king commanded the Egyptian slave bosses and the [Israeli] men supervising the slaves,
7 Dili na kamo maghatag ug dagami sa katawohan alang sa pagbuhat ug tisa ingon sa gihimo hangtud karon; ug pasagdi sila nga maoy moadto ug manguha ug dagami alang kanila.
“Do not continue to give the [Israeli] people straw for making bricks, as you have done previously. Make them go [into the fields] and gather straw for themselves.
8 Ug ang gidaghanon sa mga tisa, nga ilang gibuhat hangtud karon, inyong ipahamutang kanila: ug dili ninyo pagkunhoran kini bisan diyutay; kay sila walay buhat, ug tungod niana nagasinggit sila, nga nagaingon: Palakta kami, ug pahalara sa among Dios.
But require them to make the same number of bricks that they did before. Do not decrease the number at all. They (are lazy/do not have enough work to do). That is the reason they are asking me to let them go [into the desert] to offer sacrifices to their god.
9 Pabug-atan pa ang bulohaton sa ibabaw sa mga tawo, aron sila managbuhat niini, ug dili sila managpatalinghug sa mga pulong nga bakak.
Force the men to work harder, so that they will not [have time] to listen to lies [from their leaders]!”
10 Ug ming-adto ang mga tinugyanan sa buhat sa katawohan, ug ang ilang mga pangulo, ug sila misulti sa katawohan, nga nagaingon: Mao kini ang giingon ni Faraon: Ako dili magahatag kaninyo ug dagami.
So the slave bosses and supervisors of the slaves went to where the [Israeli] people were and said to them, “The king has said that he will no longer give you any straw.
11 Pangadto kamo, ug panguha kamo ug dagami sa dapit diin kamo makakaplag niini, kay bisan diyutay sa inyong buhat dili igakunhod.
[So] you yourselves must go and get straw wherever you can find it. But you must still keep working to make the same number of bricks as before.” [LIT]
12 Busa ang katawohan mipatlaag sa tibook nga yuta sa Egipto sa pagkuha sa tuod sa trigo nga ilis sa dagami.
So the Israeli people went all over Egypt to find straw.
13 Ug ang mga tinugyanan sa buhat nagpadali kanila, nga nagaingon: Humanon ninyo ang inyong buhat, ang mga tariya ninyo sa adlaw-adlaw, ingon kaniadto sa may dagami kamo.
The slave bosses kept telling them insistently, “Finish the work you are required to do each day, [making the same amount of bricks] as you did [before, when we gave you] straw!”
14 Ug ang mga pangulo sa mga anak sa Israel, nga gipamutang sa ibabaw nila sa mga tinugyanan sa buhat ni Faraon, gipanaglatos ug gipanilngan: ngano nga wala kamo magtuman sa inyong tariya sa kagahapon ug sa karong adlawa, ingon sa kaniadto?
[When they were not able to do that], the slave bosses had the [Israeli supervisors] beaten [with sticks], and they asked them, “Why have [all the men you are supervising] not been able to make [the same number] of bricks today/now as [they did] before [RHQ]?”
15 Unya ang mga pangulo sa mga anak nga lalake sa Israel miadto kang Faraon, ug nanag-agulo kaniya nga nagaingon: Ngano nga nagabuhat ka sa ingon sa imong mga ulipon?
Then the Israeli supervisors went to the king and complained, saying “[Your Majesty], why are you treating us this way?
16 Walay gihatag nga dagami sa imong mga ulipon, ug labut pa nagaingon sila kanamo: Pagbuhat kamo ug tisa. Ug ania karon, ang imong mga ulipon gipanglatos; apan ang sayop anaa sa imong kaugalingong katawohan.
[Now] they are not giving us any straw [for making bricks], but they keep commanding us to make bricks. And now sometimes they beat us. But it is the fault of your own slave bosses [that we cannot make as many bricks as before]!”
17 Ug siya mitubag kanila: Nagatapul kamo, nagatapul kamo; ug tungod niana, nagaingon kamo: Manlakaw kita ug maghalad kang Jehova.
But the king said, “You are lazy and do not [want to] work! That is why you keep saying, ‘Allow us to go [to the desert] and offer sacrifices to Yahweh.’
18 Busa umadto kamo karon, ug magbuhat; kay walay dagami nga igahatag kaninyo, bisan pa niana inyong tumanon ang gidaghanon sa mga tisa nga gikinahanglan.
So go and get back to work! [We] are not going to give you any straw, but you must keep making the same number of bricks!”
19 Ug ang mga pangulo sa mga anak sa Israel nanagpakakita nga sila diha sa dautang kahimtang, sa tapus kini isulti: Dili gayud kamo pagakunhuran bisan diyutay sa inyong mga tisa, ang inyong tariya sa adlaw-adlaw.
The Israeli supervisors realized that they were in a difficult situation, because they had been told, “We are not going to decrease the number of bricks [you must make] each day.”
20 Ug ilang hingsugatan si Moises ug si Aaron, nga nagtindog sa dalan, sa namauli sila gikan kang Faraon.
As they left the king’s [palace], they met Aaron and Moses/me, who were waiting for them [there].
21 Ug sila ming-ingon kanila: Si Jehova magtan-aw unta sa ibabaw ninyo, ug maghukom; kay gihimo ninyo ang among kaayo nga pagadumtan sa mga mata ni Faraon, ug sa mga mata sa iyang mga sulogoon, sa pagbutang ug espada sa ilang kamot aron sa pagpatay kanamo.
They said to Aaron and Moses/me, “Yahweh has seen [what] you two [have done] He will punish you [MTY], because you have caused the king and his officials to despise us! You have given them an excuse [MTY] to kill us!”
22 Ug si Moises mingbalik ngadto kang Jehova, ug miingon: Ginoo, ngano ba nga imong gilisud kining katawohan? Nganong imo ako nga gipadala?
Moses/I left them and prayed to Yahweh again, saying, “O Yahweh, why have you caused all these evil things to happen to your people [RHQ]? And why did you send me [here] [RHQ]?
23 Kay sukad ako mahiadto kang Faraon sa pagsulti kaniya tungod sa imong ngalan, gidaut niya pag-ayo kining katawohan, ug kining katawohan wala man gayud nimo luwasa.
Ever since I went to the king and told him what you told me to say [MTY], he has treated your people very cruelly, and you have not done anything to help/rescue them!”
