Deuteronomio 8
1 Magsingkamot kamo sa pagtuman sa tibook nga sugo nga gisugo ko kaninyo niining adlawa, aron mabuhi kamo ug pagapadaghanon kamo, ug mosulod kamo ug manag-iya sa yuta nga gipanumpa ni Jehova sa inyong mga amahan.
“All the commandments which I am entrusting to you this day, take care to observe them diligently, so that you may live and be multiplied, and so that, upon entering, you may possess the land, about which the Lord swore to your fathers.
2 Ug hinumduman mo ang tanan nga dalan nga gidad-an kanimo ni Jehova nga imong Dios niining kap-atan ka tuig didto sa kamingawan, aron ikaw pagapaubson niya, sa pagsulay kanimo, aron sa paghibalo sa anaa sa imong kasingkasing, kong buot ka magtuman sa iyang mga sugo, kun dili.
And you shall remember the entire journey along which the Lord your God led you, for forty years through the desert, to afflict you, and to test you, and to make known the things that were turning in your soul, whether or not you would keep his commandments.
3 Ug ikaw gipaubos niya, ug gipaantus niya sa kagutom, ug gipakaon ikaw niya sa mana, nga wala mo biilhi, bisan ang imong mga amahan wala makaila, aron sa pagpahibalo kanimo nga ang tawo dili mabuhi sa tinapay lamang, kondili sa tagsatagsa ka butang nga magagula gikan sa baba ni Jehova: mabuhi ang tawo.
He afflicted you with need, and he gave you Manna as your food, which neither you nor your fathers knew, so as to reveal to you that it is not by bread alone that man lives, but by every word that goes forth from the mouth of God.
4 Ang imong bisti wala gayud madaan sa ibabaw mo, ni naghubag ang tiil mo sulod sa kap-atan ka tuig.
Your garment, with which you were covered, has by no means decayed due to age, and your foot has not been worn down, even to this fortieth year,
5 Ug palandunga sa imong kasingkasing, nga ingon sa tawo nga magacastigo sa iyang anak nga lalake, mao usab si Jehova nga imong Dios magcastigo kanimo.
so that you would recognize in your heart that, just as a man educates his son, so has the Lord your God educated you.
6 Ug bantayan mo ang mga sugo ni Jehova nga imong Dios, sa paglakaw sa iyang mga dalan, ug sa pagkahadlok kaniya.
So may you keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and walk in his ways, and fear him.
7 Kay si Jehova nga imong Dios magapasulod kanimo sa maayong yuta, yuta sa mga sapa sa tubig, sa mga tubod, ug sa mga alimbukad nga nagaagay ngadto sa mga walog ug sa mga bukid:
For the Lord your God will lead you into a good land: a land of brooks and waters and fountains, in which deep rivers burst forth from its plains and mountains,
8 Yuta sa trigo ug sa cebada, ug sa mga parras, ug sa mga higuera, ug sa mga granada; yuta sa mga kahoyng oliva ug sa dugos:
a land of crops, barley, and vineyards, in which fig and pomegranate and olive trees spring up, a land of oil and honey.
9 Yuta diin magakaon ka ug tinapay sa walay pagkakulang, kaniya walay makulang kanimo: yuta nga ang iyang mga bato puthaw, ug gikan sa iyang mga bukid makakutkot ikaw ug tumbaga.
In that place, without any need, you shall eat your bread and enjoy an abundance of all things: where the stones are like iron, and where ore for brass is dug out of its mountains.
10 Ug magakaon ka, ug mabusog, ug magadayeg ikaw kang Jehova nga imong Dios tungod sa maayong yuta nga iyang gihatag kanimo.
So then, when you have eaten and been satisfied, you should bless the Lord your God for the excellent land which he has given to you.
11 Magmatngon ka aron dili ikaw mahikalimot kang Jehova nga imong Dios, sa dili pagtuman sa iyang mga sugo ug sa iyang mga tulomanon ug sa iyang kabalaoran, nga ginasugo ko kanimo niining adlawa;
Be observant and cautious, lest at some time you may forget the Lord your God, and neglect his commandments, as well as the judgments and ceremonies, which I instruct to you this day.
12 Tingali unya, nga kong ikaw makakaon ug mabusog na, ug makatukod ikaw ug matahum nga mga balay ug makapuyo niini;
Otherwise, after you have eaten and been satisfied, and have built beautiful houses and have lived in them,
13 Ug kong ang imong mga panon sa mga vaca ug ang imong mga panon sa carnero modaghan, ug ang imong salapi ug ang imong bulawan modaghan, ug ang tanan nga imo modaghan;
and have obtained herds of oxen, and flocks of sheep, and a plentitude of gold and silver and all things,
14 Unya ang imong kasingkasing magmapahitas-on, ug mahikalimot ka kang Jehova nga imong Dios nga nagkuha kanimo gikan sa yuta sa Egipto, gikan sa balay sa pagkaulipon:
your heart might be lifted up, and you might not remember the Lord your God, who led you away from the land of Egypt, from the house of servitude,
15 Nga nagmando kanimo sa usa ka daku ug makalilisang nga kamingawan, diin dihay mga bitin nga mapintas ug mga tanga, ug yuta sa kauhaw diin walay tubig; nga nagkuha ug tubig alang kanimo gikan sa bato nga santikan:
and who was your leader in the great and terrible wilderness, in which there was the serpent with a burning breath, and the scorpion, and the snake of thirst, and no waters at all. He led streams out of the hardest rock,
16 Nga nagpakaon kanimo sa mana didto sa kamingawan, nga wala hiilhi sa imong mga amahan; aron unta ikaw pagpaubson niya, ug aron siya magsulay kanimo, sa pagbuhat ug maayo kanimo sa imong kaulahian.
and he nourished you in the wilderness with Manna, which your fathers had not known. And after he had afflicted and tested you, in the very end, he took pity on you.
17 Ug aron dili ka magaingon sa imong kasingkasing: Ang akong gahum ug ang kabaskug sa akong kamot maoy naghatag kanako niini nga bahandi.
Otherwise, you might say in your heart: ‘My own strength, and the power of my own hand, have brought forth all these things for me.’
18 Apan hinumdumi si Jehova nga imong Dios kay siya maoy nagahatag kanimo sa gahum sa pagbaton sa mga bahandi, aron malig-on niya ang iyang tugon nga gipanumpa niya sa imong mga amahan, ingon niining adlawa.
But remember the Lord your God, that he himself has provided you with strength, so that he may fulfill his covenant, about which he swore to your fathers, just as the present day reveals.
19 Ug mahitabo, kong hikalimtan mo si Jehova nga imong Dios, ug magasunod ka sa lain nga mga dios, ug ikaw magaalagad kanila, ug kanila magasimba ikaw, nagapamatuod ako batok kaninyo niining adlawa nga sa pagkamatuod mangawala kamo.
But if you forget the Lord your God, so that you follow foreign gods, and serve and adore them: behold, I now foretell to you that you shall utterly perish.
20 Sama sa mga nasud nga pagalaglagon ni Jehova sa inyong atubangan, sa mao nga pagkaagi kamo mangawala; kay kamo wala magpatalinghug sa tingog ni Jehova nga inyong Dios.
Just like the nations, which the Lord destroyed upon your arrival, so shall you also perish, if you have been disobedient to the voice of the Lord your God.”
