Daniel 6
1 Nahimut-an ni Dario ang pagbutang ibabaw sa gingharian usa ka gatus ug kaluhaan ka mga principe, nga maoy magapangulo sa tibook gingharian;
King Darius decided to divide his kingdom into 120 provinces. He appointed a governor to rule each province.
2 Ug ibabaw kanila totolo ka mga presidente, si Daniel mao ang usa kanila; nga kining mga principe magabatag taho kanila nga totolo, ug nga ang hari mawalay kabilinggan.
He also appointed me and two other men to be administrators, to supervise the governors and to be sure that they did the king’s work [properly], in order that the king would not have to worry about anything.
3 Unya kini si Daniel maoy gipalabi nga labaw sa mga presidente ug sa mga principe, kay ang labing maayong espiritu diha kaniya; ug ang hari naghunahuna sa pagpalingkod kaniya ibabaw sa tibook nga gingharian.
I soon showed that I was (more capable/able to do the work better) than all the other administrators and the governors. Because of that, the king planned to appoint me to be in charge of the entire empire.
4 Nan ang mga presidente ug ang mga principe nanagpangita sa higayon batok kang Daniel mahatungod sa gingharian; apan sila wala makakita sa higayon ni kalapasan, sanglit siya matinumanon man, ni may hikaplagan sila nga sayup kun kalapasan diha kaniya.
Then, the [other] administrators and the governors [became jealous. So they began to] try to find something that they could criticize about the way I was working for the king. But I always did my work faithfully and honestly, and was never lazy. So they could not find anything to criticize.
5 Unya miingon kining mga tawohana: Dili nato hikaplagan ang higayon batok niining Daniel, gawas kong hikaplagan ta kini batok kaniya mahatungod sa Kasugoan sa iyang Dios.
They concluded, “The only way we can find something for which we can criticize Daniel will be something concerning the laws that his god [his given him].”
6 Unya kining mga presidente ug mga principe nanagtigum sa atubangan sa hari ug miingon kaniya: Hari nga Dario, mabuhi ka sa walay katapusan.
So the administrators and governors went as one group to the king and said, “(Your Majesty/O king), we wish that you will live a long time!
7 Ang tanang mga presidente sa gingharian, ang mga tinugyanan ug ang mga principe, ang mga magtatambag ug ang mga gobernador, nanagsabut-sabut sa pagtukod usa ka harianon nga kabalaoran, ug pagbuhat usa ka malig-on nga sugo, nga bisan kinsa nga magapangamuyo sa bisan unsang dios kun tawo sulod sa katloan ka adlaw, gawas kanimo, Oh hari, siya igahulog sa langub sa mga leon.
[We] administrators and governors and district governors and advisors and other officials have all agreed that you should make a law that everyone must obey. We want you to command that for the next thirty days people may pray only to you. If anyone prays to anyone else, either to a human or to a god, he must be thrown into [a pit of] lions.
8 Karon, Oh hari, tukora ang sugo, ug timan-i sa imong ngalan ang sinulat, aron dili mausab, sumala sa balaod sa mga Medianhon ug mga Persiahanon, nga dili mausab.
And because laws made by [our governments of] Media and Persia cannot be changed, [we want] you, [the head of our government], to sign it.”
9 Busa si hari Dario mitimaan sa sinulat ug sa sugo.
So King Darius [wrote] the law and signed it.
10 Ug sa pagkahibalo ni Daniel nga ang sinulat gitiman-an, siya miadto sa iyang balay (karon ang iyang mga tamboanan inablihan sa sulod sa iyang balay paingon sa Jerusalem); ug siya miluhod sa makatolo sa usa ka adlaw, ug nag-ampo, ug nagpasalamat sa atubangan sa iyang Dios, ingon sa iyang gihimo kaniadto.
But when I found out that [the king] had [written and] signed that law, I went home. I knelt down in my upstairs room and prayed. I looked toward Jerusalem, and the windows were open [with the result that everyone could see me while I was praying]. I prayed three times each day, just as I always did, thanking God.
11 Unya kining mga tawohana nanagkatigum, ug nakakaplag kang Daniel nga nag-ampo ug nangamuyo sa atubangan sa iyang Dios.
The officials went together [to my house] and they saw me praying and requesting God to help me.
12 Unya sila mingduol, ug mingsulti sa atubangan sa hari mahitungod sa sugo sa hari: Wala ba ikaw motimaan sa usa ka sugo nga ang tagsatagsa ka tawo nga mangamuyo sa bisan unsang dios kun tawo sulod ka katloan ka adlaw, gawas kanimo, Oh hari, igahulog sa langub sa mga leon? Ang hari mitubag ug miingon: Ang butang matuod sumala sa balaod sa mga Medianhon ug mga Persiahanon nga dili mausab.
So they returned to the king and said to him, “[Do you remember] that you wrote a law stating that for the next thirty days people may pray only to you, and if anyone prays to anyone else, either to a human or to a god, he will be thrown into [a pit of] lions?” The king replied, “[Yes, that is the law that I wrote]. It is a law of [our governments of] Media and Persia, which cannot be canceled.”
13 Unya mingtubag sila ug ming-ingon sa atubangan sa hari: Kana si Daniel nga anaa sa mga anak sa pagkabinihag sa Juda wala magtagad kanimo, Oh hari, ni sa sugo nga imong gitiman-an, kondili nag-ampo makatolo sa usa ka adlaw.
Then they said to the king, “Well, that [man] Daniel, one of the men who were brought from Judah, is not paying any attention to you or the law that you [signed]. He prays [to his god] three times each day!”
14 Unya ang hari, sa pagkadungog niya niining mga pulonga nasubo pag-ayo, ug naninguha sulod sa iyang kasingkasing sa pagluwas kaniya; ug siya naghago hangtud sa pagkasalop sa adlaw aron sa pagluwas kaniya.
When the king heard that, he was very distressed. He tried to find a way to save me. All the rest of that day he tried to think of a way to rescue me.
15 Unya kining mga tawohana nanagtigum sa atubangan sa hari, ug ming-ingon sa hari: Hibaloi, Oh hari, nga kini balaod sa mga Medianhon ug Persiahanon, nga walay sugo ni balaod nga gitukod sa hari nga mausab.
[In the evening, many of] [HYP] the officials went together to the king and said, “(Your Majesty/O king), you know that [our governments of] Media and Persia have declared that no law that the king signs can be canceled/changed. [So Daniel must be thrown to the lions!]”
16 Unya ang hari nagpasugo ug ilang gidala si Daniel, ug gihulog siya sa langub sa mga leon. Karon, ang hari misulti ug miingon kang Daniel: Ang imong Dios nga imong gialagaran sa kanunay, siya magaluwas kanimo.
So the king gave the order, and his servants brought me and threw me into a pit where the lions [were]. [Before they threw me in], the king said to me, “I hope/wish that your God, whom you worship regularly, will rescue you!”
17 Ug dihay usa ka bato nga gidala ug gipahaluna sa baba sa langub, ug kini gipatikan sa hari sa iyang kaugalingong patik, ug sa patik sa mga principe; aron walay mausab mahatungod kang Daniel.
They rolled a huge stone across the entrance to the pit. Then the king [fastened a string across the entrance and put wax at each end, and stamped the wax with] the seal from his [ring] and the seals [of the rings] of his officials, in order that no one could [secretly] rescue me.
18 Unya ang hari miadto sa iyang palacio, ug nagpuasa sa tibook nga gabii; walay mga tulonggon nga gidala sa iyang atubangan: ug ang iyang katulogon mikalagiw gikan kaniya.
Then the king returned to his palace. That night he refused to eat any food. He would not allow anyone to entertain him [because he did not want to be happy, with the result that he would forget about me. And that night] he was unable to sleep [because he was worried about me].
19 Unya ang hari mibangon sayo kaayo sa kabuntagon, ug midali pag-adto sa langub sa mga leon.
At dawn the next morning, the king got up and went quickly to the pit where the lions were.
20 Ug sa pagduol niya sa langub sa mga leon ngadto kang Daniel, misinggit siya sa usa ka tingog nga makapasubo; ang hari misulti ug miingon kang Daniel: Oh Daniel, alagad sa Dios nga buhi; ang imong Dios nga gialagaran mo sa kanunay, nagaluwas ba kanimo gikan sa mga leon?
When he came near it, he was very worried. He called out, “Daniel, you who serve the all-powerful God! Was your God, whom you worship regularly, able to save you from the lions?”
21 Unya si Daniel miingon sa hari: Oh hari, mabuhi ka sa walay katapusan.
I answered, “(Your Majesty/O king), I hope that you will live a long time!
22 Ang akong Dios nagpadala sa iyang manulonda, ug gitak-uman ang baba sa mga leon, ug sila wala makadaut kanako; sanglit kay sa iyang atubangan nakita nga inocente man ako; ug ingon man usab sa atubangan mo. Oh hari, ako wala makapasipala.
[Yes], my God sent his angel to shut the lions’ mouths, in order that they would not harm me! [He did that] because [he knows that] I have done nothing that he thinks is wrong. And, (Your Majesty/O king), I never did anything wrong to you!”
23 Unya ang hari nalipay sa hilabihan gayud, ug nagsugo nga ilang kuhaon si Daniel gikan sa langub. Busa si Daniel gipagawas sa langub, ug walay kadaut nga hikaplagan diha kaniya, tungod kay siya misalig man diha sa iyang Dios.
The king was extremely happy, and he commanded [his servants] to lift me out of the pit. [When they did that, they] saw that the lions had not wounded me at all. [God had protected me] because I trusted in him.
24 Ug ang hari nagpasugo, ug gipanagdala kadtong mga tawo nga mingsumbong batok kang Daniel, ug ilang gipanghulog sila ngadto sa langub sa mga leon, sila, ang ilang mga anak, ug ang ilang mga asawa; ug sila gilunggoban ug gipanagdugmok ang ilang mga bukog, sa wala pa ngani sila moabut sa kinahiladman sa langub.
Then the king commanded that the men who had accused me should be seized and be thrown, along with their wives and children, into the pit where the lions were. [When they were thrown into the pit], the lions leaped on them and crushed their bones before they fell onto the bottom of the pit!
25 Unya si hari Dario misulat sa tanang mga katawohan, mga nasud, ug mga pinulongan, nga nagpuyo sa tibook yuta: Ang pakigdait modagaya unta kaninyo.
Then King Darius wrote [this message and sent it throughout his kingdom] to the people of every people-group and nation and from all language groups: “I wish/hope that everything is going very well with you!
26 Gibuhat ko ang sugo, aron nga sa tanang dominio sa akong gingharian, ang mga tawo managkurog, ug mangahadlok sa atubangan sa Dios ni Daniel; kay siya mao ang Dios nga buhi ug mapadayonon sa walay katapusan, ug ang iyang gingharian mao ang dili mabungkag; ug ang iyang dominio magapadayon bisan hangtud sa katapusan.
I command that everyone in my kingdom should fear and revere the God that Daniel [worships]. He is the all-powerful God, and he will live forever. His kingdom will never be destroyed; he will rule forever.
27 Siya nagaluwas ug nagatabang, ug nagabuhat siya sa mga katingalahan sa langit ug sa yuta, siya nga maoy nagluwas kang Daniel gikan sa gahum sa mga leon.
He rescues and saves [his people]. He performs all kinds of miracles in heaven and on the earth. He rescued Daniel from the power of the lions!”
28 Busa kining Daniel nagmauswagon sa paghari ni Dario, ug sa paghari ni Ciro nga Persiahanon.
So I was successful [all] during the time that Darius ruled and during the time that Cyrus, [the King] of Persia, ruled.
