2 Samuel 2
1 Ug nahatabo sa human niini, nga si David nangutana kang Jehova, nga nagaingon: Motungas ba ako ngadto sa bisan diin nga lungsod sa Juda? Ug si Jehova miingon kaniya: Tumungas ka. Ug si David miingon: Asa man ako motungas? Ug siya miingon: Ngadto sa Hebron.
And after these things David consulted the Lord, saying: Shall I go up into one of the cities of Juda? And the Lord said to him: Go up. And David said: Whither shall I go up? And he answered him: Into Hebron.
2 Busa si David mitungas didto ug ang duruha usab ka asawa niya, si Ahinoam nga Jezreelhanon, ug si Abigail ang asawa ni Nabal, ang Carmelohanon.
So David went up, and his two wives, Achinoam the Jezrahelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal of Carmel:
3 Ug ang mga tawo nga kauban niya gidala ni David ang pagtungas, ang tagsatagsa ka tawo uban ang iyang sulod-balay: ug sila mingpuyo sa mga kalungsoran sa Hebron.
And the men also that were with him, David brought up every man with his household: and they abode in the towns of Hebron.
4 Ug ang mga tawo sa Juda mingadto, ug didto ilang gidihogan si David nga hari ibabaw sa balay sa Juda, ug ilang gisuginlan si David nga nagaingon: Ang mga tawo sa Jabes-Galaad mao sila ang nanaglubong kang Saul.
And the men of Juda came, and anointed David there, to be king over the house of Juda. And it was told David, that the men of Jabes Galaad had buried Saul.
5 Ug si David nagpadala ug mga sulogoon ngadto sa mga tawo sa Jabes-Galaad, ug miingon kanila: Pagabulahanon kamo ni Jehova, kay gipakita ninyo kining kalolot sa inyong ginoo, bisan pa kang Saul, ug inyong gilubong siya.
David therefore sent messengers to the men of Jabes Galaad, and said to them: Blessed be you to the Lord, who have shewn this mercy to your master Saul, and have buried him.
6 Ug karon si Jehova nagapakita ug mahigugmaong-kalolot ug kamatuoran kaninyo: ug ako magabayad kaninyo niining kalolot, tungod kay nabuhat ninyo kining butanga.
And now the Lord surely will render you mercy and truth, and I also will, requite you for this good turn, because you have done this thing.
7 Busa karon lig-ona ang inyong mga kamot, ug magmaisugon kamo; kay si Saul nga inyong ginoo patay na, ug ang balay ni Juda nagdihog kanako nga hari sa ibabaw nila.
Let your hands be strengthened, and be ye men of valour: for although your master Saul be dead, yet the house of Juda hath anointed me to be their king.
8 Karon si Abner ang anak nga lalake ni Ner, capitan sa panon ni Saul, mikuha kang Is-boseth, ang anak nga lalake ni Saul, ug midala kaniya ngadto sa Mahanaim;
But Abner the son of Ner, general of Saul’s army, took Isboseth the son of Saul, and led him about through the camp?
9 Ug naghimo kaniya nga hari ibabaw sa Galaad, ug ibabaw sa Gesuri, ug ibabaw sa Jezreel, ug ibabaw sa Ephraim, ug ibabaw sa Benjamin, ug ibabaw sa tibook Israel.
And made him king over Galaad, and, over Gessuri, and over Jezrahel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.
10 Si Is-boseth ang anak nga lalake ni Saul may kap-atan ka tuig ang panuigon sa pagsugod niya paghari ibabaw sa Israel, ug siya naghari ug duha ka tuig. Apan ang balay ni Juda misunod kang David.
Isboseth the son of Saul was forty years old when he began to reign over, Israel, and he reigned two years: and only the house of Juda followed David.
11 Ug ang gidugayon sa pagkahari ni David sa Hebron ibabaw sa balay ni Juda may pito ka tuig ug unom ka bulan.
And the number of the days that David abode, reigning in Hebron over the house of Juda, was seven years and six months.
12 Ug si Abner, ang anak nga lalake ni Ner, ug ang mga sulogoon ni Is-boseth, ang anak nga lalake ni Saul, minggula gikan sa Mahanaim ngadto sa Gabaon.
And Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Isboseth the son of Saul, went out from the camp to Gabaon.
13 Ug si Joab, ang anak nga lalake ni Sarvia, ug ang mga sulogoon ni David minggula, ug nakighibalag kanila haduol sa linaw sa Gabaon; ug sila minglingkod ang usa sa usa ka daplin sa danaw, ug ang usa didto sa usa ka daplin sa danaw.
And Joab the son of Sarvia, and the servants of David went out, and met them by the pool of Gabaon. And when they were come together, they sat down over against one another: the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side.
14 Ug si Abner miingon kang Joab, tugoti ang mga batan-ong lalake, ako nagahangyo kanimo, sa pagtindog, ug sa padula sa among atubangan. Ug si Joab miingon: Patindoga sila.
And Abner said to Joab: Let the young men rise, and play before us. And Joab answered: Let them rise.
15 Unya sila nanindog ug ming-adto sa tabok pinaagi sa ilang gidaghanon: napulo ug duha ang alang kang Benjamin ug ang alang kang Is-boseth, ang anak nga lalake ni Saul, ug napulo ug duha ang gikan sa mga sulogoon ni David.
Then there arose and went over twelve in number of Benjamin, of the part of Isboseth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.
16 Ug sila nanagdinakpanay ang tagsatagsa sa ulo sa iyang isigkaingon, ug gihandus ang iyang pinuti sa kilid sa iyang isigkaingon; busa sila nangapukan pagdungan: maoy hinungdan nga kadtong dapita gitawag ug Helcath-Assurim, nga atua sa Gabaon.
And every one catching his fellow, by the head, thrust his sword into the side of his adversary, and they fell down together: and the name of the place was called: The field of the valiant, in Gabaon.
17 Ug ang gubat misamot sa hilabihan gayud niadtong adlawa; ug si Abner gidaug, ug ang mga tawo sa Israel, sa atubangan sa mga sulogoon ni David.
And there was a very fierce battle that day: and Abner was put to flight, with the men of Israel, by the servants of David.
18 Ug ang totolo ka anak nga lalake ni Sarvia didto, si Joab, ug si Abisai, ug si Asael: ug si Asael magaan sa tiil sama sa usa ka lagsaw nga ihalas.
And there were the three sons of Sarvia there, Joab, and Abisai, and Asael: now Asael was a most swift runner, like one of the roes that abide in the woods.
19 Ug si Asael miapas sunod kang Abner; ug sa paglakaw niya wala lumiso siya sa too nga kamot ni sa wala nga kamot, sa pag-agpas kang Abner.
And Asael pursued after Abner, and turned not to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.
20 Unya si Abner milingi sa likod niya, ug miingon: Ikaw ba si Asael? Ug siya mitubag: Ako man.
And Abner looked behind him, and said: Art thou Asael? And he answered: I am.
21 Ug si Abner miingon kaniya: Sumimang ka sa dapit sa imong too kun sa wala, ug dakpon mo ang usa sa mga batan-ong lalake, ug kubaon mo ang iyang hinagiban. Apan si Asael wala mosimang gikan sa pagnunot kaniya,
And Abner said to him: Go to the right hand or to the left, and lay hold on one of the young men and take thee his spoils. But Asael would not leave off following him close.
22 Ug si Abner miingon pag-usab kang Asael: Bumulag ka sa pagnunot kanako: Ngano nga ibunal ko ikaw sa yuta? Unsaon man nako sa pag-atubang sa akong nawong kang Joab, ang imong igsoon nga lalake?
And again Abner said to Asael: Go off, and do not follow me, lest I be obliged to stab thee to the ground, and I shall not be able to hold up my face to Joab thy brother.
23 Apan siya nagdumili sa pagtipas: busa si Abner uban sa pangulahiang tumoy sa iyang bangkaw miduslak kaniya sa lawas, mao nga ang bangkaw milapos sa iyang likod, ug namatay siya sa maong dapit: ug nahitabo nga ang daghan nga nanghianha sa dapit diin sa Asael napukan ug namatay, minghunong.
But he refused to hearken to him, and would not turn aside: wherefore Abner struck him with his spear with a back stroke in the groin, and thrust him through, and he died upon the spot: and all that came to the place where Asael fell down and died stood still.
24 Apan si Abner gilutos ni Joab ug ni Abisai: ug ang adlaw misalop na sa paghiabut nila sa bungtod sa Amma, nga nahamutang atbang sa Gia haduol sa alagianan sa kamingawan sa Gabaon.
Now while Joab and Abisai pursued after Abner, the sun went down: and they came as far as the hill of the aqueduct, that lieth over against the valley by the way of the wilderness in Gabaon.
25 Ug ang mga anak ni Benjamin nanaghiusa sa pagpundok sunod kang Abner, ug nahimong usa ka panon ug mingtindog sa tumoy sa bungtod.
And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together to Abner: and being joined in one body, they stood on the top of a hill.
26 Unya si Abner mitawag kang Joab, ug miingon: Sa kanunay ba nga ang pinuti magalamoy? Wala mo ba hibaloi nga kini mahimong kapaitan sa kaulahian? Unsa pa man diay ang kadugayon, nga dili mo pa sugoon ang katawohan gikan sa pagnunot sa ilang kaigsoonan?
And Abner cried out to Joab, and said: Shall thy sword rage unto utter destruction? knowest thou not that it is dangerous to drive people to despair? how long dost thou defer to bid the people cease from pursuing after their brethren?
27 Ug si Joab miingon: Ingon nga ang Dios buhi, kong ikaw wala pa unta magsulti, nan sa pagkatinuod, ang katawohan sa pagkabuntag nanagpanlakaw na unta, ni magalutos ang tagsatagsa sa iyang igsoon nga lalake.
And Joab said: As the Lord liveth, if thou hadst spoke sooner, even in the morning the people should have retired from pursuing after their brethren.
28 Busa gipatingog ni Joab ang trompeta; ug ang tibook katawohan nanghunong, ug wala na lumutos sa Israel, ni magpakig-away pa sila.
Then Joab sounded the trumpet, and all the army stood still, and did not pursue after Israel any farther, nor fight any more.
29 Ug si Abner ug ang iyang mga tawo minglakaw sa tibook niadtong gabhiona latas sa Araba; ug sila nanabok sa Jordan, ug nangadto latas sa tibook nga Bithron, ug ming-abut sa Mahanaim.
And Abner and his men walked all that night through the plains: and they passed the Jordan, and having gone through all Beth-horon, came to the camp.
30 Ug si Joab nahiuli gikan sa paglutos kang Abner: ug sa diha nga giusa niya pagtigum ang tibook katawohan may nakulang sa mga sulogoon ni David nga napulo ug siyam ka tawo ug si Asael.
And Joab returning, after he had left Abner, assembled all the people: and there were wanting of David’s servants nineteen men, beside Asael.
31 Apan ang mga sulogoon ni David midaug sa mga tawo ni Benjamin ug ni Abner, mao nga totolo ka gatus ug kan-uman ka tawo ang nangamatay.
But the servants of David had killed of Benjamin, and of the men that were with Abner, three hundred and sixty, who all died.
32 Ug ilang gikuha si Asael, ug gilubong siya sa lubnganan sa iyang amahan nga didto sa Beth-lehem. Ug si Joab ug ang iyang mga tawo minglakaw sa tibook nga gabii ug hingkabuntagan sila didto sa Hebron.
And they took Asael, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father in Bethlehem, and Joab, and the men that were with him, marched all the night, and they came to Hebron at break of day.
