1 Si Josias may walo ka tuig ang panuigon sa pagsugod niya paghari; ug siya naghari ug katloan ug usa ka tuig sa Jerusalem: ug ang ngalan sa iyang inahan mao si Idida ang anak nga babaye ni Adaia sa Boscath.

Eight years old was Josiah when he became king, and thirty and one years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Yedidah, the daughter of 'Adayah of Bozkath.

2 Ug gibuhat niya ang matarung sa mga mata ni Jehova, ug naglakat sa tanang dalan ni David nga iyang amahan, ug wala motipas ngadto sa kamot nga too kun sa wala.

And he did what is right in the eyes of the Lord, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right or to the left.

3 Ug nahitabo sa ikanapulo ug walo ka tuig ni hari Josias, nga gipaadto sa hari si Saphan, ang anak nga lalake ni Azalia, anak nga lalake ni Mesullam, ang escriba, ngadto sa balay ni Jehova, nga nagaingon:

And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azalyahu, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the Lord, saying,

4 Sumaka ka ngadto kang Hilcias, ang labawng sacerdote, aron iyang isipon ang salapi nga gidala ngadto sa balay ni Jehova, nga natigum sa mga magbalantay nga nagbantay sa bakanan gikan sa katawohan:

Go up to Chilkiyahu the high-priest, that he may collect up all the money which is brought into the house of the Lord, which the door-keepers have gathered from the people:

5 Ug kini gipahatag nila sa kamot sa mamumuo nga nagabantay sa balay ni Jehova; ug gipahatag kanila kini sa mamumuo nga anaa sa balay ni Jehova, aron sa pag-ayo sa mga nangatumpag sa balay,

And let them deliver it into the hand of those who overlook the workmen, that have been appointed as overseers of the house of the Lord; and let them give it to those who do the work who are in the house of the Lord, to repair the breaches of the house:

6 Ngadto sa mga panday ug sa mga magtutukod, ug sa mga magtitiltil sa bato, ug aron ipapalit sa tabla, ug sa mga tiniltilan nga bato, aron sa pag-ayo sa balay ni Jehova.

Unto the carpenters, and the builders, and the masons, and to buy timber and hewn stones to repair the house.

7 Apan wala lamang ipha nila ang salapi nga gihatag sa ilang kamot; kay sila mga matinumanon man.

Nevertheless shall there be no reckoning made with them for the money that is delivered into their hand, because they deal faithfully.

8 Ug si Hilcias ang labawng sacerdote miingon kang Saphan, nga escriba: Nakaplagan ko ang basahon sa Kasugoan sa balay ni Jehova. Ug gihatag ni Hilcias ang basahon kang Saphan, ug iyang gibasa kini.

And Chilkiyahu the high-priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, A book of the law have I found in the house of the Lord. And Chilkiyah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.

9 Ug si Saphan nga escriba miadto sa hari, ug gisuginlan pag-usab ang hari, ug miingon: Gikuha sa imong mga alagad ang salapi nga nakita didto sa balay, ug gihatag sa kamot sa mamumuo nga nagabantay sa balay ni Jehova.

And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have taken out all the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of those who overlook the workmen, that have been appointed overseers of the house of the Lord.

10 Ug si Saphan nga escriba nagsugilon sa hari, nga nagaingon: Si Hilcias nga sacerdote naghatag kanako ug usa ka basahon. Ug kini gibasa ni Saphan sa atubangan sa hari.

And Shaphan the scribe also told the king, saying, A book hath Chilkiyahu the priest given me. And Shaphan read it before the king.

11 Ug nahitabo, sa nakadungog ang hari sa mga pulong sa basahon sa Kasugoan, iyang gigisi ang iyang mga saput.

And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes.

12 Ug ang hari nagsugo kang Hilcias nga sacerdote, ug kang Ahicam ang anak nga lalake ni Saphan, ug kang Achbor ang anak nga lalake ni Michaia, ug kang Saphan nga escriba, ug kang Isaias ang alagad sa hari, sa pag-ingon:

And the king commanded Chilkiyah the priest, and Achikam the son of Shaphan, and 'Achbor the son of Michayah, and Shaphan the scribe, and 'Assahyah a servant of the king's, saying,

13 Lakaw kamo, pangutana kang Jehova alang kanako, ug alang sa katawohan, ug alang sa tibook nga Juda, mahitungod sa mga pulong niining basahona nga hingkaplagan; kay daku ang kaligutgut ni Jehova nga misilaub batok kanato, tungod kay ang atong mga amahan wala mamati sa mga pulong niining basahona sa pagbuhat sa tanang nahisulat mahitungod kanato.

Go ye, inquire of the Lord in my behalf, and in behalf of the people, and in behalf of all Judah, concerning the words of this book that hath been found; for great is the wrath of the Lord that hath been kindled against us, because our fathers did not hearken unto the words of this book, to do in accordance with all that is prescribed concerning us.

14 Busa si Hilcias nga sacerdote, ug si Ahicam, ug Achbor, ug si Saphan, ug si Isaias, ming-adto kang Hulda ang manalagna nga babaye, ang asawa ni Sallum nga anak nga lalake ni Ticva, ang anak nga lalake ni Karkas, ang magbalantay sa mga bisti, (karon siya nagpuyo sa Jerusalem sa ikaduha ka bahin sa ciudad); ug sila nakigsulti kaniya.

And Chilkiyahu the priest, and Achikam, and 'Achbor, and Shaphan, and 'Assahyah, went unto Chuldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah the son of Charchass, the keeper of the wardrobe; [now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the suburb; ] and they spoke unto her.

15 Ug siya miingon kanila: Kini mao ang gipamulong ni Jehova, ang Dios sa Israel: Suginlan ninyo ang tawo nga nagpadala kaninyo dinhi kanako,

And she said unto them, Thus hath said the Lord the God of Israel, Say unto the man that hath sent you to me,

16 Kini mao ang giingon ni Jehova: Ania karon, magadala ako sa kadautan niining dapita, ug sa mga pumoluyo diha, sumala sa tanan nga mga pulong sa basahon nga nabasa sa hari sa Juda.

Thus hath said the Lord, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon its inhabitants, all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read;

17 Tungod kay ilang gibiyaan ako, ug nagsunog ug incienso alang sa laing mga dios, aron sila makahagit kanako sa kasuko uban sa tanang buhat sa ilang mga kamot, busa ang akong kaligutgut pasilaubon batok niining dapita, ug kini dili mapalong.

Because they have forsaken me, and have burnt incense unto other gods, in order to provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands: therefore is my wrath kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.

18 Apan alang sa hari sa Juda, nga nagsugo kaninyo sa pagpangutana kang Jehova, kini mao ang inyong igasulti kaniya: Kini mao ang gipamulong ni Jehova, ang Dios sa Israel, mahitungod sa mga pulong nga imong nadungog,

But with respect to the king of Judah who sendeth you to inquire of the Lord, thus shall ye say to him, Thus hath said the Lord the God of Israel, Concerning the words which thou hast heard;

19 Tungod kay ang imong kasingkasing malumo, ug ikaw nagmapaubsanon sa atubangan ni Jehova, sa pagkadungog mo sa akong gipamulong batok niining dapita, ug batok sa mga nagapuyo diha, nga sila unta mahimong kamingawan ug usa ka tinunglo, ug gigisi mo ang imong mga bisti, ug naghilak sa akong atubangan; ako usab namati kanimo, namulong si Jehova.

Because thy heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the Lord, when thou heardest what I had spoken against this place, and against its inhabitants, that they should become an astonishment and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me: I also have heard it, saith the Lord.

20 Busa, ania karon, tigumon ko kamo ngadto sa inyong mga amahan, ug ikaw pagatigumon ngadto sa imong lubnganan sa kalinaw, dili makakita ang imong mga mata sa tanang kadaut nga akong pagadad-on niining dapita. Ug ilang gisuginlan pag-usab ang hari.

Therefore, behold, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered unto thy graves in peace; and thy eyes shall not look on all the evil which I am bringing over this place. And they brought the king word again.
