In the twelfth year of Ahaz, the king of Judah: Hoshea, the son of Elah, reigned over Israel, in Samaria, for nine years.
2 Ug gibuhat niya ang dautan sa mga mata ni Jehova, apan dili ingon sa mga hari sa Israel nga nanghiuna kaniya.
And he did evil before the Lord, but not like the kings of Israel who had been before him.
3 Batok kaniya mitungas si Salmanasar nga hari sa Asiria; ug si Oseas nahimo nga iyang alagad, ug nagdala kaniya ug buhis.
Shalmaneser, the king of the Assyrians, ascended against him. And Hoshea became a servant to him, and he paid him tribute.
4 Ug hingkaplagan sa hari sa Asiria ang pagluib ni Oseas; kay siya nagpadala ug mga sinugo ngadto kang So nga hari sa Egipto, ug wala mohatag sa buhis alang sa hari sa Asiria, ingon sa iyang ginabuhat sa tuig-tuig: busa gitakpan siya sa hari sa Asiria, ug gigapus siya didto sa bilanggoan.
And when the king of the Assyrians discovered that Hoshea, striving to rebel, had sent messengers to Sais, to the king of Egypt, so as not to present the tribute to the king of the Assyrians, as he had been accustomed to do each year, he besieged him. And having been bound, he cast him into prison.
5 Unya ang hari sa Asiria mitungas sa tibook yuta, ug miadto sa Samaria, ug gilibutan kini sa totolo ka tuig.
And he wandered through the entire land. And ascending to Samaria, he besieged it for three years.
6 Sa ikasiyam ka tuig ni Oseas, ang Samaria nakuha sa hari sa Asiria, ug gibihag ang Israel ngadto sa Asiria, ug gibutang sila sa Hala, ug sa ibabaw sa Habor, suba sa Gozan, ug sa mga ciudad sa mga Medohanon.
And in the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of the Assyrians captured Samaria, and he carried away Israel to Assyria. And he stationed them in Halah and in Habor, beside the river of Gozan, in the cities of the Medes.
7 Ug mao kadto, tungod kay ang mga anak sa Israel nanagpakasala batok kang Jehova nga ilang Dios, nga nagkuha kanila gikan sa yuta sa Egipto gikan sa kamot ni Faraon nga hari sa Egipto, ug nahadlok sa laing mga dios,
For it happened that, when the sons of Israel had sinned against the Lord, their God, who had led them away from the land of Egypt, from the hand of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, they worshipped strange gods.
8 Ug nanaglakaw sa kabalaoran sa mga nasud, nga gisalikway ni Jehova gikan sa atubangan sa mga anak sa Israel, ug sa mga hari sa Israel, nga ilang gihimo.
And they walked according to the rituals of the nations that the Lord had consumed in the sight of the sons of Israel, and of the kings of Israel. For they had acted similarly.
9 Ug ang mga anak sa Israel nanaghimo sa mga butang sa tago nga dili matarung batok kang Jehova nga ilang Dios: ug sila nagtukod alang kanila sa mga hatag-as nga dapit sa tanan nilang mga ciudad, sukad sa torre sa magbalantay ngadto sa kinutaan nga ciudad,
And the sons of Israel offended the Lord, their God, with deeds that were not upright. And they built for themselves high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city.
10 Ug alang sa ilang kaugalingon sila nanagpatindog ug mga haligi nga bato ug sa mga Ashera sa ibabaw sa tagsatagsa ka hatag-as nga bungtod, ug ilalum sa tagsatagsa ka malunhaw nga kahoy;
And they made for themselves statues and sacred groves, on every high hill and under every leafy tree.
11 Ug didto sila nagsunog sa incienso sa tanan nga mga hatag-as nga dapit, sumala sa gihimo sa mga nasud nga gidala ni Jehova sa halayo unahan kanila; ug sila naghimo sa dautan nga mga butang sa paghagit kang Jehova sa pagpakasuko;
And they were burning incense there, upon altars, in the manner of the nations that the Lord had removed from their face. And they did wicked deeds, provoking the Lord.
12 Ug sila nag-alagad sa mga larawan, nga tungod niana si Jehova miingon kanila: Dili ninyo buhaton kining butanga.
And they worshipped impurities, concerning which the Lord instructed them that they should not do this word.
13 Apan si Jehova nagpamatuod batok sa Israel, ug batok sa Juda, pinaagi sa tagsatagsa ka manalagna, ug sa tagsatagsa ka magtatan-aw, nga nagaingon: Bumalik kamo gikan sa dautan ninyong mga dalan, ug bantayi ang akong mga sugo ug kabalaoran, sumala sa tanang Kasugoan nga akong gisugo sa inyong mga amahan, ug nga akong gipadala kaninyo pinaagi sa akong mga alagad nga mga manalagna.
And the Lord testified to them, in Israel and in Judah, through the hand of all the prophets and seers, saying: “Return from your wicked ways, and keep my precepts and ceremonies, in accord with the entire law, which I instructed to your fathers, and just as I sent to you by the hand of my servants, the prophets.”
14 Bisan pa niana, sila wala mamati, apan nagpatikig hinoon sa ilang mga liog, ingon sa mga liog sa ilang mga amahan, nga wala tumoo kang Jehova nga ilang Dios.
But they did not listen. Instead, they hardened their necks to be like the neck of their fathers, who were not willing to obey the Lord, their God.
15 Ug ilang gisalikway ang iyang kabalaoran, ug ang iyang tugon nga iyang gihimo uban sa ilang mga amahan, ug ang iyang mga pagpamatuod nga gipamatuod kanila; ug gisunod nila ang kakawangan, ug nangahimong walay hinungdan, ug mingnunot sa mga nasud nga naglibut kanila, nga mahitungod niini si Jehova nagpahamangno kanila nga dili sila magbuhat sama kanila.
And they cast aside his ordinances, and the covenant that he formed with their fathers, and the testimonies which he testified to them. And they pursued vanities and acted vainly. And they followed the nations that were all around them, concerning the things which the Lord had commanded them not to do, and which they did.
16 Ug ilang gisalikway ang tanang mga sugo ni Jehova nga ilang Dios, ug naghimo alang sa ilang kaugalingon sa tinunaw nga mga larawan, duha ka nating vaca, ug naghimo sa usa ka Ashera, ug nagsimba sa tanang panon sa langit, ug nag-alagad kang Baal.
And they abandoned all the precepts of the Lord, their God. And they made for themselves two molten calves and sacred groves. And they adored the entire celestial army. And they served Baal.
17 Ug ang ilang mga anak nga lalake ug babaye ilang gipaagi sa kalayo, ug naggamit sa pagpatagna nga bakakon ug mga paglumay, ug nagbaligya sa ilang kaugalingon sa pagbuhat sa dautan sa mga mata ni Jehova, aron sa paghagit kaniya sa pagpakasuko.
And they consecrated their sons and their daughters through fire. And they devoted themselves to divinations and soothsaying. And they delivered themselves into the doing of evil before the Lord, so that they provoked him.
18 Busa si Jehova nasuko sa hilabihan gayud sa Israel, ug gipapahawa sila sa iyang atubangan: walay nahabilin gawas sa banay ni Juda lamang.
And the Lord became vehemently angry with Israel, and he took them away from his sight. And there remained no one, except the tribe of Judah alone.
19 Ang Juda usab wala magbantay sa mga sugo ni Jehova nga ilang Dios, apan naglakat sa kabalaoran sa Israel nga ilang gihimo.
But even Judah did not keep the commandments of the Lord, their God. Instead, they walked in the errors of Israel, which they had wrought.
20 Ug gisalikway ni Jehova ang tibook kaliwat sa Israel, ug nagsakit kanila, ug gitugyan sila ngadto sa kamot sa mga mamimihag, hangtud nga gisalikway sila gikan sa iyang mga mata.
And the Lord cast aside all of the offspring of Israel. And he afflicted them, and he delivered them into the hand of despoilers, until he drove them away from his face,
21 Kay iyang gigisi ang Israel gikan sa balay ni David; ug ilang gihimo nga hari si Jeroboam ang anak nga lalake ni Nabat: ug giabog ni Jeroboam ang Israel gikan sa pagnunot kang Jehova, ug gihimo sila sa pagpakasala sa usa ka dakung sala.
even from that time when Israel was torn away from the house of David, and they appointed for themselves Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, as king. For Jeroboam separated Israel from the Lord, and he caused them to sin a great sin.
22 Ug ang mga anak sa Israel naglakaw sa tanang mga sala ni Jeroboam nga iyang gibuhat; sila wala bumulag niini;
And the sons of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam, which he had done. And they did not withdraw from these,
23 Hangtud nga gikuha ni Jehova ang Israel sa iyang mga mata, ingon sa iyang gipamulong pinaagi sa tanan niyang mga alagad ang mga manalagna. Busa ang Israel gibihag gikan sa iyang kaugalingong yuta ngadto sa Asiria hangtud niining adlawa.
even when the Lord carried away Israel from his face, just as he had said by the hand of all his servants, the prophets. And Israel was carried away from their land into Assyria, even to this day.
24 Ug ang hari sa Asiria nagdala sa mga tawo gikan sa Babilonia, ug gikan sa Cutha, ug gikan sa Ava, ug gikan sa Hamath, ug gikan sa Sepharvaim, ug gibutang sila sa mga ciudad sa Samaria ilis sa mga anak sa Israel; ug ilang gipanag-iya ang Samaria, ug nanagpuyo sa mga ciudad niini.
Then the king of the Assyrians brought some from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Avva, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim. And he located them in the cities of Samaria, in place of the sons of Israel. And they possessed Samaria, and they lived in its cities.
25 Ug mao kadto, sa sinugdan sa ilang pagpuyo didto, nga sila wala mahadlok kang Jehova: busa si Jehova nagpadala ug mga leon sa taliwala nila, nga nanagpatay sa uban kanila.
And when they had begun to live there, they did not fear the Lord. And the Lord sent lions among them, which were killing them.
26 Busa sila mingsulti sa hari sa Asiria, nga nanag-ingon: Ang mga nasud nga imong gibihag ug gibutang sa mga ciudad sa Samaria, wala manghibalo sa Kasugoan sa Dios sa yuta: busa siya nagpadala kanila ug mga leon, ug, ania karon, gitukob sila, tungod kay sila wala manghibalo sa Kasugoan sa Dios sa yuta.
And this was reported to the king of the Assyrians, and it was said: “The peoples that you transferred and caused to live in the cities of Samaria, they are ignorant of the ordinances of the God of the land. And so the Lord has sent lions among them. And behold, they have killed them, because they were ignorant of the rituals of the God of the land.”
27 Unya ang hari sa Asiria nagsugo, nga nagaingon: Dad-a ngadto ang usa sa mga sacerdote nga inyong gidala gikan dinhi; ug paadtoa sila ug papuy-a didto, ug patudloi sila niya sa Kasugoan sa Dios sa yuta.
Then the king of the Assyrians commanded, saying: “Lead to that place one of the priests, whom you brought as a captive from there. And let him go and live with them. And let him teach them the ordinances of the God of the land.”
28 Busa ang usa sa mga sacerdote nga ilang gibihag gikan sa Samaria miabut ug mipuyo sa Beth-el, ug gitudloan sila kong unsaon nila sa pagkahadlok kang Jehova.
And so, when one of the priests, who had been led away captive from Samaria, had arrived, he lived in Bethel. And he taught them how they should worship the Lord.
29 Apan ang tagsatagsa ka nasud naghimo sa mga dios nga ilang kaugalingon, ug gibutang kini sa mga balay sa mga hatag-as nga dapit nga gibuhat sa mga Samarianhon, ang tagsatagsa ka nasud diha sa ilang mga ciudad diin sila managpuyo.
And each of the nations made gods of their own, and they placed them in the shrines of the high places, which the Samaritans had made: nation after nation, in their cities in which they were living.
30 Ug ang mga tawo sa Babilonia naghimo sa Succoth-benoth, ug ang mga tawo sa Cutha naghimo sa Nergal, ug ang mga tawo sa Hamath naghimo sa Asima.
So the men of Babylon made Soccoth-benoth; and the men of Cuth made Nergal; and the men of Hamath made Ashima;
31 Ug ang mga Hebehanon naghimo sa Nibhaz ug Tharthac; ug ang mga Sepharvaimhon nagsunog sa ilang mga anak sa kalayo alang kang Adramelech ug Anamelech, ang mga dios sa Sepharvaimhon.
and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak. Then those who were from Sepharvaim burned up their children with fire, for the gods of Sepharvaim: Adram-melech and Anam-melech.
32 Busa sila nangahadlok kang Jehova, ug nanagbuhat sa ilang kaugalingong mga sacerdote sa mga hatag-as nga dapit, nga naghalad alang kanila didto sa mga balay sa mga hatag-as nga dapit.
But nevertheless, they worshipped the Lord. Then they made for themselves, from the least of the people, priests of the high places. And they placed them in the shrines of the high places.
33 Ug sila nangahadlok kang Jehova, ug nag-alagad sa ilang kaugalingong mga dios, sunod sa batasan sa mga nasud gikan diin sila gipanagbihag.
And though they worshipped the Lord, they also served their own gods, according to the custom of the nations from which they had been transferred into Samaria.
34 Hangtud niining adlawa sila nagabuhat sa unang batasan: sila wala mahadlok kang Jehova, sila wala usab magtuman sa ilang kabalaoran, kun sa ilang mga tulomanon, kun sa Kasugoan, kun sa sugo nga gisugo ni Jehova sa mga anak ni Jacob, nga iyang gihinganlan Israel;
Even to the present day, they follow the ancient customs; they do not fear the Lord, and they do not keep his ceremonies, and judgments, and law, and commandment, which the Lord had instructed to the sons of Jacob, whom he named Israel.
35 Uban kanila si Jehova naghimo sa usa ka tugon, ug gisugo sila, nga nagaingon: Dili kamo mahadlok sa laing mga dios, ni magyukbo sa inyong kaugalingon kanila, ni mag-alagad kanila, ni maghalad kanila:
And he had struck a covenant with them, and he had commanded them, saying: “You shall not fear foreign gods, and you shall not adore them, and you shall not worship them, and you shall not sacrifice to them.
36 Apan si Jehova nga nagdala kaninyo gikan sa yuta sa Egipto sa dakung gahum ug tinuy-od nga bukton, kaniya kamo magkahadlok, ug kaniya kamo gayud magyukbo, ug kaniya kamo maghalad:
But the Lord, your God, who led you away from the land of Egypt, with great strength and with an outstretched arm, him shall you fear, and him shall you adore, and to him shall you sacrifice.
37 Ug ang kabalaoran ug ang mga tulomanon, ug ang Kasugoan ug ang sugo, nga iyang gisulat alang kaninyo, kamo magabantay sa pagtuman sa walay katapusan; ug dili kamo mahadlok sa laing mga dios:
Also, the ceremonies, and judgments, and law, and commandment, which he wrote for you, you shall keep so that you do them for all days. And you shall not fear strange gods.
38 Ug ang tugon nga akong gihimo uban kaninyo dili ninyo paghikalimtan; ni mahadlok kamo sa laing mga dios.
And the covenant, which he struck with you, you shall not forget; neither shall you worship strange gods.
39 Apan kang Jehova nga inyong Dios mahadlok kamo; ug siya magaluwas kaninyo gikan sa kamot sa tanan ninyong mga kaaway.
But you shall fear the Lord, your God. And he will rescue you from the hand of all your enemies.”
40 Apan sila wala mamati, kondili nagbuhat sila sumala sa ilang unang batasan.
Yet truly, they did not listen to this. Instead, they acted in accord with their earlier custom.
41 Busa kining mga nasud nangahadlok kang Jehova, ug nag-alagad sa ilang mga linilok nga larawan; ang ilang mga anak usab, ug ang mga anak sa ilang mga anak, ingon sa gihimo sa ilang mga amahan, ingon man ilang ginahimo hangtud niining adlawa.
And such were these nations: to some extent fearing the Lord, yet nevertheless also serving their idols. As for their sons and grandsons, just as their fathers acted, so also did they act, even to the present day.
