2 Cronicas 32
1 Sa tapus niining mga butanga, ug niining pagkamatinumanon, si Sennacherib nga hari sa Asiria miabut, ug misulong ngadto sa Juda, ug nagpahaluna batok sa mga ciudad ng kiinutaan, ug naghunahuna sa pagdaug kanila alang sa iyang kaugalingon.
After King Hezekiah had obeyed Yahweh’s instructions and had done all those things, King Sennacherib of Assyria came [with his army] and invaded Judah. He commanded his soldiers to surround the cities that had walls around them, thinking that they would [break through those walls and] conquer those cities.
2 Ug sa diha nga si Ezechias nakakita nga si Sennacherib miabut, ug nga siya nagtinguha sa pagpakig-away batok sa Jerusalem,
When Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come [with his army] and that they intended to attack Jerusalem,
3 Siya nagpakitambag uban sa iyang mga principe ug sa iyang mga gamhanang tawo sa pagtabon sa mga tubig sa mga tubod nga dinha sa gawas sa ciudad; ug ilang gitabangan siya.
he consulted with his officials and army leaders. They said among themselves, “Why should we allow the king of Assyria [and his army] to come and find plenty of water to drink?” So they decided to stop the water from flowing outside the city. So a large group of men gathered together and blocked all the springs and the stream that flowed through that area.
4 Busa may natigum nga daghang katawohan sa tingub, ug ilang gitabonan ang tanang mga tubod, ug ang sapa nga nag-agay sa kinataliwad-an sa yuta, nga nagaingon: Ngano bang moanhi ang mga hari sa Asiria, ug makakaplag daghang tubig?
5 Ug siya nagmaisugon, ug gipahiuli ang tanang kuta nga nangagun-ob, ug gipataas kini hangtud sa mga torre, ug ang uban nga kuta sa gawas, ug gipalig-on ang Milo nga diha sa ciudad ni David, ug naghimo sa mga hinagiban ug mga taming nga daghan.
Then they worked hard to repair all the sections of the city wall that had been broken, and they built watchtowers on the walls. They built another wall outside/around the wall that was already outside the city, and they strengthened the defenses on the sloping terraces [on the east side of the area called ‘The City of David’]. They also made a large number of weapons and shields.
6 Ug nagbutang siya sa mga capitan sa gubat sa ibabaw sa katawohan, ug iyang gitigum sila pagtingub ngadto kaniya sa halapad nga dapit sa ganghaan sa ciudad, ug nakigsulti sa makalipay gayud kanila, nga nagaingon:
Hezekiah appointed army commanders, and he gathered them in front of him in the square at one of the city gates, and he encouraged them by saying this to them:
7 Pagmalig-on ug pagmaisugon, ayaw kahadlok ni maluya tungod sa hari sa Asiria, ni tungod sa tanan nga gidaghanon nga uban kaniya: kay adunay usa nga labi pang daku nga nagauban kanato kay sa nanguban kaniya:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged on account of the king of Assyria and the huge army that is with him, because [Yahweh] is with us, and his [power] is greater than their [power].
8 Uban kaniya anaa ang usa ka bukton nga unod; apan uban kanato mao si Jehova nga atong Dios aron sa pagtabang kanato, ug sa pagpakigaway sa atong mga gubat. Ug ang katawohan mingsalig sa ilang kaugalingon diha sa mga pulong ni Ezechias nga hari sa Juda.
They have to rely on the power of humans, but we have Yahweh our God to help us and to fight battles for us.” So the people became more confident because of what Hezekiah, the king of Judah, said.
9 Sa tapus niini si Sennacherib nga hari sa Asiria nagpadala sa iyang mga sulogoon ngadto sa Jerusalem (karon siya diha sa atubangan sa Lachis, ug ang tibook niyang gahum diha uban kaniya), ngadto kang Ezechias nga hari sa Juda, ug ngadto sa tibook Juda nga diha sa Jerusalem, nga nagaingon:
Later, when Sennacherib and all his soldiers were surrounding Lachish [city], he sent some officers to Jerusalem to give this message to King Hezekiah and to all the people of Judah who were there:
10 Kini mao ang giingon ni Sennacherib nga hari sa Asiria: Hain ang inyong gisaligan, nga kamo nagpuyo sulod sa kuta sa Jerusalem?
“[I am] Sennacherib, the [great] king of Assyria, [and] this is what I say: 'While you are staying in Jerusalem, my soldiers are surrounding the city. So why [RHQ] are you so confident?
11 Wala ba si Ezechias maglukmay kaninyo, aron sa pagtugyan kaninyo sa kamatayon pinaagi sa gutom ug kauhaw, nga nagaingon: Si Jehova nga among Dios magaluwas kanamo gikan sa kamot sa hari sa Asiria.
Hezekiah says to you, “Yahweh our God will save us from [being defeated by the army of] the king of Assyria,” but he is misleading you. He wants you to die from having no food or water.
12 Wala ba ang maong Ezechias magsalikway sa iyang mga hatag-as nga dapit ug sa iyang mga hatag-as nga dapit ug sa iyang mga halaran, ug nagsugo sa Juda ug Jerusalem, nga nagaingon: Kamo mag-ampo sa atubangan sa usa ka halaran, ug ibabaw niana kamo magsunog sa incienso?
Isn’t Hezekiah the one who told his men to get rid of your god Yahweh’s shrines and altars on the hilltops, saying to [you people of] Jerusalem and other places in Judah, “You must worship at only one altar and burn sacrifices on only that altar”?
13 Wala ba kamo manghibalo kong unsay gibuhat ko ug sa akong mga amahan alang sa tanang katawohan sa kayutaan? Ang mga dios sa mga nasud sa kayutaan sa bisan unsang paagi makaluwas ba sa ilang yuta gikan sa akong kamot.
'Do you people not know what I and my ancestors have done to all the people-groups in other countries? [We destroyed them all, and] none of the gods of those nations were ever able to prevent my [troops] from conquering them! So how can your god prevent my soldiers from conquering you?
14 Kinsa ba sa taliwala sa tanang mga dios niadtong mga nasud nga gihurot paglaglag sa akong mga amahan, nga nakaluwas sa iyang katawohan gikan sa akong kamot, nga ang inyong Dios makahimo sa pagluwas kaninyo gikan sa akong kamot?
15 Busa karon ayaw pagtugot nga si Ezechias maglimbong kaninyo, ni maglukmay kaninyo sa ingon niining paagiha, ni magtoo kamo kaniya; kay walay dios sa bisan unsang nasud ug gingharian nga makahimo sa pagluwas sa iyang katawohan gikan sa akong kamot, ug gikan sa kamot sa akong mga amahan: daw unsa ang pagkadili makahimo sa inyong Dios sa pagluwas kaninyo gikan sa akong kamot?
So do not allow Hezekiah to deceive you like this. Do not believe what he says, because no god of any nation or kingdom has ever been able to rescue his people from being conquered by my army and the armies of my ancestors. So certainly your god will not be able to rescue you from my power'.”
16 Ug ang iyang mga sulogoon mingsulti pa gayud batok kang Jehova nga Dios, ug batok sa iyang alagad nga si Ezechias.
Sennacherib’s officers said more things to belittle Yahweh the God of the Israelis and Hezekiah, who served God [well].
17 Siya nagsulat usab ug mga sulat sa pagpanamastamas kang Jehova, ang Dios sa Israel, ug sa pagsulti batok kaniya, nga nagaingon: Ingon nga ang mga dios sa mga nasud sa kayutaan, nga wala makaluwas sa ilang katawohan gikan sa akong kamot, ingon man ang Dios ni Ezechias dili makaluwas sa iyang katawohan gikan sa akong kamot.
King Sennacherib wrote more letters insulting Yahweh, the God whom the Israelis [belonged to/worshiped]. He said things like this: “The gods [worshiped by] the people-groups in other countries did not rescue their people from my power. Similarly, the god of Hezekiah will not rescue his people from my power.”
18 Ug sila mingsinggit sa usa ka makusog nga tingog sa pinulongan sa mga Judio ngadto sa katawohan sa Jerusalem nga dinha sa ibabaw sa kuta, aron sa paghadlok kanila, ug aron sa pagsamok kanila; aron nga ilang mamaagaw ang ciudad.
Then King Sennachereb’s officers shouted in the Hebrew language to the people who were on the wall, in order to cause them to be terrified, thinking that as a result the army of Assyria could capture the city [without a battle].
19 Ug sila nagsulti mahitungod sa Dios sa Jerusalem, ingon sa mga dios sa katawohan sa yuta, nga binuhat sa mga kamot sa mga tawo.
They belittled the God [worshiped by the people] of Jerusalem as they belittled the gods of the other people-groups of the world—saying that they were only [idols] made by humans.
20 Ug si Ezechias nga hari, ug si Isaias nga manalagna anak nga lalake ni Amos, nag-ampo mahitungod niini, ug mingtuaw ngadto sa langit.
Then King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah cried out to God, praying about this.
21 Ug si Jehova nagpadala sa usa ka manolonda, nga miputol sa anang gamhanang mga tawo, sa kaisug ug sa mga pangulo ug mga capitan, diha sa campo sa hari sa Asiria. Busa siya mipauli uban sa nawong nga maulawon ngadto sa iyang kaugalingong yuta. Ug sa paghiabut niya sa balay sa iyang dios, sila nga sa kaliwatan da usab niya mingpatay kaniya didto pinaagi sa pinuti.
And [that night] Yahweh sent an angel who killed all the soldiers of Assyria and their leaders and their officers in the place where the king of Assyria and his army had set up their tents. So the king of Assyria left and returned to his own country, very disgraced. And one day when he went into the temple of his god, some of his sons struck him with their swords and killed him.
22 Sa ingon niini si Jehova nagluwas kang Ezechias ug sa mga pumoluyo sa Jerusalem gikan sa kamot ni Sennacherib ang hari sa Asiria, ug gikan sa kamot sa tanan nga uban pa, ug nagmando kanila sa bisan diin nga daplin.
That is how Yahweh rescued Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem from the power of Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, and from their other enemies. Yahweh took care of them (OR, gave them peace) everywhere in the country.
23 Ug daghan ang mga nanagdala ug gasa kang Jehova sa Jerusalem, ug mga bililhon nga butang kang Ezechias nga hari sa Juda; mao nga siya nabayaw diha sa mga mata sa tanang mga nasud sukad niadtong panahona.
Many people brought offerings for Yahweh to Jerusalem, and also brought valuable gifts for King Hezekiah. And from that time, Hezekiah was highly respected/honored by the people of all the other nations.
24 Niadtong mga adlawa si Ezechias nasakit bisan nag-ungaw sa kamatayon: ug siya nag-ampo kang Jehova, ug siya misulti kaniya, ug mihatag kaniya sa usa ka ilhanan.
About that time, Hezekiah became very ill. He was about to die. But he prayed to Yahweh, and Yahweh answered his prayer. He performed a miracle [and healed Hezekiah].
25 Apan si Ezechias wala mobalus pag-usab sumala sa kaayohan nga gihimo kaniya; kay ang iyang kasingkasing nagmapahitas-on; busa may kaligutgut nga nahulog diha sa ibabaw niya, ug sa Juda ug Jerusalem.
But Hezekiah [SYN] was very proud, and he did not thank Yahweh for being kind to him. Therefore Yahweh was angry with him and [and punished him] and [the people of] Jerusalem and other places in Judah.
26 Ugaling si Ezechias nagmapainubsanon sa iyang kaugalingon tungod sa garbo sa iyang kasing-kasing, siya ug ang mga pumoluyo sa Jerusalem, mnao nga ang kaligutgut ni Jehova wala modangat kanila sa mg adlaw ni Ezechias.
Then Hezekiah said that he was sorry for being proud, and the people of Jerusalem also said that they were sorry [for their sins]. So Yahweh did not punish them during the remaining years that Hezekiah [was their king].
27 Ug si Ezechias may daghan gayud kaayo nga bahandi ug kadungganan: ug siya nagbuhat alang kaniya sa mga tipiganan alang sa salapi, ug alang sa bulawan, ug alang sa mga bililhon nga bato, ug alang sa mga panakot, ug alang sa mga taming, ug alang sa tanang nagkalainlaing matahum sudlanan.
Hezekiah became very rich and was greatly honored. His [workers] made storerooms for his silver and gold, and for his very valuable stones, and for spices and shields and other valuable things.
28 Mga tipiganang mga balay usab alang sa abut nga trigo ug bag-ong vino ug lana; ug mga toril alang sa tanang nagkalainlaing mga mananap, ug mga panon nga diha sa toril.
[His workers] also built buildings to store the grain and wine and [olive] oil [that people produced and brought to him]. They also made stalls for various kinds of cattle and pens for his flocks [of sheep and goats].
29 Labut pa siya nag-andam alang kaniya ug mga ciudad, ug pagpanag-iya sa mga panon sa carnero ug mga mananap nga daghan; kay ang Dios naghatag kaniya sa daghan uyamut nga katigayonan.
They built towns and acquired for the king many flocks [of sheep and goats] and herds [of cattle], because God had enabled him to become very rich.
30 Ang maong Ezechias usab mao ang nagpahunong sa sulod sa katubigan sa Gihon, nga dapit sa ibabaw, ug ang nagpaagay niini laktod ngadato sa kasadpan nga dapit sa ciudad ni David. Us si Ezechias miuswag sa tanan niyang mga buhat.
Hezekiah was the one who told his workers to block the place where the water flows out of the Gihon Spring, and to build a tunnel through which the water flowed to the west side of the area called ‘The City of David’. He was able to do everything that he wanted to do.
31 Apan bisan pa niini mahitungod sa buhat sa mga sinugo sa mga principe sa Babilonia, nga nagpasugo kaniya aron sa pagpakisayud sa katingalahan nga nabuhat diha sa yuta, ang Dios mibiya kaniya, aron sa pagsulay kaniya, aron iyang hibaloan ang tanan nga anaa sa iyang kasing-kasing.
But when messengers who were sent by the rulers of Babylon came and asked about the miracle that God had performed for him, God allowed Hezekiah to say what he himself wanted to say, in order to test [whether or not Hezekiah would admit that God had performed a miracle].
32 Karon ang uban nga mga buhat ni Ezechias, ug ang iyang maayong mga buhat, ania karon, sila nanghisulat sa panan-awon ni Isaias nga manalagna ang anak ng lalake ni Amos, diha sa basahon sa mga hari sa Juda ug Israel.
A record of the other things that happened while Hezekiah was ruling, and the things that he did to please God, is on the scroll in which is written the vision that [Yahweh gave to] the prophet Isaiah. It is also written in the scroll called ‘The History of the Kings of Judah and Israel’.
33 Ug si Ezechias natulog uban sa iyang mga amahan, ug ilang gilubong siya sa dapit nga naibabaw sa mga lubnganan sa mga anak nga lalake ni David: ug ang tibook Juda ug ang ga pumoluyo sa Jerusalem nagpasidungog kaniya sa iyang kamatayon. Ug si Manases nga iyang anak nga lalake naghari ilis kaniya.
When Hezekiah died, he was buried in the tombs where the most respected kings [of Judah] were buried. Everyone in Jerusalem and other places in Judah honored him. Then his son Manasseh became the king.
