2 Cronicas 26
1 Ug gikuha sa tibook katawohan sa Juda si Uzzias, nga may napulo ug unom ka tuig ang panuigon, ug gihimo siyang hari ilis sa iyang amahan nga si Amasias.
After King Amaziah died, all the people of Judah appointed his son Uzziah, who then was 16 years old, as their king. [One of the things that happened] while he was the king [was that] his men captured Elath [town on the Gulf of Aqaba] and rebuilt it.
2 Iyang gitukod ang Eloth, ug giuli kini sa Juda, sa human niana ang hari natulog uban sa iyang mga amahan.
3 Napulo ug unom ka tuig ang panuigon ni Uzzias sa pagsugod niya paghari; ug siya naghari sulod sa kalim-an ug duha ka tuig sa Jerusalem: ug ang ngalan sa iyang inahan mao si Jecholia, sa Jerusalem.
Uzziah ruled in Jerusalem for 52 years. His mother was Jecoliah; she was from Jerusalem.
4 Ug iyang gibuhat kadtong matarung sa mga mata ni Jehova, sumala sa tanan nga gibuhat ni Amasias nga iyang amahan.
Uzziah did things that Yahweh considered to be good, like his father Amaziah had done.
5 Ug nagpadayon siya sa iyang kaugalingon sa pagpangita sa Dios sa mga adlaw ni Zacharias, nga may salabutan sa panan-awon sa Dios: ug sa kadugayon nga siya nangita kang Jehova, ang Dios naghimo kaniya nga mauswagon.
He tried to please God while [the priest] Zechariah was living, because Zechariah taught him to revere God. As long as Uzziah tried to please God, God enabled him to be successful.
6 Ug siya miadto ug nakiggubat batok sa mga Filistehanon, ug gilumpag ang kuta sa Gath, ug ang kuta sa Jabnia, ug ang kuta sa Asdod; ug iyang gitukod ang mga ciudad sa kayutaan sa Asdod, ug sa mga Filistehanon.
Uzziah and his army started to fight against the army of Philistia. They tore down the walls of Gath, Jabneh, and Ashdod [cities]. Then they rebuilt the towns near Ashdod and in other places in Philistia.
7 Ug ang Dios mitabang kaniya batok sa mga Filistehanon, ug batok sa mga Arabianhon nga nagpuyo sa Gur-baal, ug sa mga taga-Meunim.
God helped them to fight the army of Philistia and the Arabs who lived in [the town of] Gur-Baal and the descendants of Meun who had come to that area from Edom.
8 Ug ang mga Ammonhanon nanag-buhis kang Uzzias: ug ang iyang ngalan nabantug ngadto sa halayong dapit bisan ngadto sa alagianan sa pagsulod mo sa Egipto; kay siya nagtubo sa pagkamakusganon gayud.
Even the Ammon [people-group] paid taxes to Uzziah each year. So Uzziah became famous as far as the border of Egypt, because he had become very powerful.
9 Labut pa gitukod ni Uzzias ang mga torre sa Jerusalem sa nasikohang ganghaan, ug sa walog nga ganghaan, ug sa likoanan sa kuta, ug gikutaan kini.
Uzziah’s [workers] built watchtowers in Jerusalem at the Corner Gate, at the Valley Gate, and at the place where the wall turns, and they placed weapons in them.
10 Ug siya nagtukod ug mga torre didto sa kamingawan, ug nagbuhat sa daghang mga atabay, kay daghan siyang panon sa vaca; sa kinaubsan nga yuta usab ug sa kapatagan: ug siya may mga mag-uuma ug mga magbalantay sa kaparrasan sa kabukiran ug sa mga mabungaon nga mga kaumahan; kay siya mahigugmaon sa pagkamag-uuma.
They also built watchtowers in the desert and dug many wells. They did that [to provide water] for a lot of the king’s cattle that were in the foothills and in the plains. Uzziah liked farming, so he also stationed workers [to take care of] his fields and vineyards in the hills and in the fertile areas.
11 Labut pa si Uzzias may usa ka kasundalohan sa mga tawo nga iggugubat, nga nagagula sa pagpakiggubat sa pinanon, sumala sa gidaghanon sa ilang pag-ihap nga gihimo ni Jehiel ang kalihim ug si Maasias nga punoan, ilalum sa kamot ni Hananias, usa sa mga capitan sa hari.
Uzziah’s army was trained for fighting battles. They were in groups that were always ready to go into battle. Jeiel, the king’s secretary, and Maaseiah, one of the army officers, counted the men and placed them in groups. Hananiah, one of the king’s officials, was their commander.
12 Ang tibook nga gidaghanon sa mga pangulo sa mga balay sa mga amahan, bisan ang mga tawong maisug, may duha ka libo ug unom ka gatus.
There were 2,600 leaders of those groups of soldiers.
13 Ug ilalum sa ilang kamot mao ang usa ka kasundalohan, nga totolo ka gatus ka libo ug pito ka libo ug lima ka gatus, nga nakiggubat uban sa dakung gahum, aron sa pagtabang sa hari batok sa kaaway.
In the groups that those leaders commanded there were a total of 307,500 well-trained soldiers. It was a very powerful army which was ready to help the king fight against his enemies.
14 Ug si Uzzias nag-andam alang kanila, bisan alang sa tibook panon, mga taming, ug mga bangkaw, ug mga salokot, ug mga saput nga hiningbis, ug mga pana, ug mga bato nga igsasaplong.
Uzziah gave to each soldier a shield, a spear, a helmet, a vest made of iron plates, a bow [and arrows], and a slingshot.
15 Ug iyang gihimo sa Jerusalem ang mga maquina, minugna sa batid nga mga tawo, nga igabutang sa mga torre ug ibabaw sa mga torre sa mga pamag-ang, diin himoa ang mga pagpana ug mga pangbuno sa mga bato. Ug ang iyang ngalan nabantug sa bisan diin; kay siya gitabangan sa katingalahan gayud nga paagi, hangtud nga siya nalig-on.
In Jerusalem his skilled workers made machines to put on the watchtowers and on the corners [of the walls], to shoot arrows and to hurl large stones. He became very famous even in distant places, because God helped him very much and enabled him to become very powerful.
16 Apan sa nalig-on na siya, ang iyang kasingkasing nagmapahitas-on, mao nga siya naghimo sa mangil-ad, ug siya nakalapas batok kang Jehova nga iyang Dios; kay miadto siya sa templo ni Jehova aron sa pagsunog sa incienso ibabaw sa halaran sa incienso.
But because Uzziah was very powerful, he became very proud, and that led to his being punished. He disobeyed what Yahweh his God had commanded. He went into the temple to burn incense on the altar [where God had said that only the priests should burn] incense.
17 Ug si Azarias nga sacerdote, minunot kaniya, ug uban kaniya ang kawaloan ka sacerdote ni Jehova, nga mga maisug nga tawo:
Azariah the [Supreme] Priest and 80 other brave priests followed him into the temple.
18 Ug sila mingsukol kang Uzzias nga hari, ug ming-ingon kaniya: Kana dili katungdanan nimo, Uzzias, ang pagsunog sa incienso kang Jehova, kondili sa mga sacerdote ang mga anak nga lalake ni Aaron, nga gipanggahin alang sa Dios aron sa pagsunog sa incienso: gumula ka gikan sa balaan nga puloy-anan; kay ikaw nakalapas; dili kana alang sa imong kadungganan nga gikan kang Jehova nga Dios.
They rebuked him and said to him, “Uzziah, it is not right for you to burn incense to [honor] Yahweh. That duty is only for the priests, those who are descendants of Aaron [our first Supreme Priest]! You must leave [immediately], because you have disobeyed Yahweh our God, and he will not honor you [for what you have done]!”
19 Unya si Uzzias nasuko; ug siya may usa ka incensario diha sa iyang kamot aron sa pagsunog sa incienso; ug samtang nga nasuko pa siya sa mga sacerdote, ang sanla migula sa iyang agtang diha sa atubangan sa mga sacerdote sulod sa balay ni Jehova, tupad sa halaran sa incienso.
Uzziah had in his hand a pan for burning incense. He became very angry with the priests, but suddenly there was leprosy on his forehead.
20 Ug si Azarias ang labawng sacerdote, ug ang tanang mga sacerdote, mingtan-aw kaniya, ug, tan-awa, siya may sanla diha sa iyang agtang, ug ilang gipagula siya sa pagdali gikan didto; oo, siya gayud ang midali paggula, tungod kay si Jehova naghampak kaniya.
When Azariah the [Supreme] Priest and all the other priests [who were there] looked at him, they saw the leprosy on his forehead, so they quickly took him outside. And truly the king was eager to leave the temple, because he knew that it was Yahweh who had caused him to have that leprosy, [and he did not want it to become worse.]
21 Ug si Uzzias nga hari maoy usa ka sanlahon hangtud sa adlaw sa iyang kamatayon, ug nagpuyo sa usa ka linain nga balay, tungod kay usa man ka sanlahon; kay siya giputol gikan sa balay ni Jehova: ug si Joatham nga iyang anak nga lalake maoy nagdumala diha sa balay sa hari, nagmaghuhukom sa katawohan sa yuta.
King Uzziah had leprosy until he died. And because he had leprosy, he lived in a house that was not near other houses, and he was not allowed to enter [the courtyard of] the temple. His son Jotham supervised the palace and ruled the people of Judah.
22 Karon ang uban nga mga buhat ni Uzzias, sinugdan ug katapusan, gisulat ni Isaias nga manalagna, anak nga lalake ni Amos.
A record of all the other things that Uzziah did while he was the king [of Judah] was written by the prophet Isaiah, the son of Amoz.
23 Busa si Uzzias natulog uban sa iyang mga amahan; ug ilang gilubong siya uban sa iyang mga amahan sa patag nga lubnganan nga ila sa mga hari; kay sila ming-ingon: Siya usa ka sanlahon: ug si Joatham nga iyang anak nga lalake naghari ilis kaniya.
Because Uzziah was a leper, [when he died, ] they would not bury him in the tombs where the other kings were buried. Instead, he was buried in a nearby cemetery that the kings owned. Then his son Jotham became the king [of Judah].
