1 Samuel 5
1 Ug ang mga Filistehanon nakaagaw sa arca sa Dios ug ilang gidala kini gikan sa Eben-ezer ngadto sa Asdod.
And the Philistines have taken the ark of God, and bring it in from Eben-Ezer to Ashdod,
2 Ug ang mga Filistehanon nagkuha sa arca sa Dios, ug nagdala niini ngadto sa balay ni Dagon, ug gibutang kini tupad kang Dagon.
and the Philistines take the ark of God and bring it into the house of Dagon, and set it near Dagon.
3 Ug sa diha nga sila nga taga-Asdod namangon pagsayo sa pagkaugma, ania karon, si Dagon napaumod sa yuta sa atubangan sa arca ni Jehova. Ug ilang gikuha si Dagon ug gipahaluna siya sa iyang dapit pag-usab.
And the Ashdodites rise early on the morrow, and lo, Dagon is fallen on its face to the earth, before the ark of Jehovah; and they take Dagon, and put it back to its place.
4 Ug sa diha nga sila namangon sa pagkaugma sa buntag, ania karon, si Dagon napukan nga ang iyang nawong nahiumod sa yuta sa atubangan sa arca ni Jehova; ug ang ulo ni Dagon ug ang duruha ka palad sa iyang mga kamot napahamutang nga nangaputol sa ibabaw sa lusaranan; ang tuod ni Dagon mao ray nahibilin kaniya.
And they rise early in the morning on the morrow, and lo, Dagon is fallen on its face to the earth, before the ark of Jehovah, and the head of Dagon, and the two palms of its hands are cut off at the threshold, only the fishy part hath been left to him;
5 Busa, bisan ang mga sacerdote ni Dagon, ni kinsa nga mosulod sa balay ni Dagon, magatunob sa lusaranan ni Dagon sa Asdod, hangtud niining adlawa.
therefore the priests of Dagon, and all those coming into the house of Dagon, tread not on the threshold of Dagon, in Ashdod, till this day.
6 Apan ang kamot ni Jehova mabug-at sa ibabaw nila nga anaa sa Asdod, ug iyang gilaglag sila, ug gihampak sila sa mga hubag, bisan ang Asdod ug ang mga utlanan niana.
And the hand of Jehovah is heavy on the Ashdodites, and He maketh them desolate, and smiteth them with emerods, Ashdod and its borders.
7 Ug sa diha nga ang mga tawo sa Asdod nakakita nga mao kini, sila ming-ingon: Ang arca sa Dios sa Israel dili magapabilin uban kanato; kay ang iyang kamot maoy kasakit sa ibabaw nato ug kang Dagon nga atong dios.
And the men of Ashdod see that [it is] so, and have said, 'The ark of the God of Israel doth not abide with us, for hard hath been His hand upon us, and upon Dagon our god.'
8 Busa ilang gipasugoan ug gitigum ang tanang mga kadagkuan sa mga Filistehanon ngadto kanila, ug ming-ingon: Unsay atong buhaton mahatungod sa arca sa Dios sa Israel? Ug sila mitubag: Ipadala ang arca sa Dios sa Israel ngadto sa Gath. Ug ilang gidala ang arca sa Dios sa Israel didto.
And they send and gather all the princes of the Philistines unto them, and say, 'What do we do to the ark of the God of Israel?' and they say, 'To Gath let the ark of the God of Israel be brought round;' and they bring round the ark of the God of Israel;
9 Ug mao kadto, nga sa tapus nila dad-a kini, ang kamot ni Jehova diha batok sa ciudad uban sa dakung kapildihon: ug iyang gihampak ang mga tawo sa ciudad, gagmay ug dagku; ug ang mga hubag nanggula diha sa ibabaw nila.
and it cometh to pass after they have brought it round, that the hand of Jehovah is against the city — a very great destruction; and He smiteth the men of the city, from small even unto great; and break forth on them do emerods.
10 Busa ilang gipadala ang arca sa Dios ngadto sa Ecron. Ug nahitabo nga ang arca sa Dios gipadala ngadto sa Ecron, nga ang mga Ecronhanon naninggit, nga nagaingon: Ilang gidala ang arca sa Dios sa Israel kanato, aron sa pagpatay kanato ug sa atong katawohan.
And they send the ark of God to Ekron, and it cometh to pass, at the coming in of the ark of God to Ekron, that the Ekronites cry out, saying, 'They have brought round unto us the ark of the God of Israel, to put us to death — and our people.'
11 Busa ilang gipasugoan ug gitigum ang mga kadagkuan nga tanan sa mga Filistehanon, ug sila nanag-ingon: Ipahilayo ang arca sa Dios sa Israel, ug ipabalik kana ngadto sa iyang dapit, aron kana dili mopatay kanato, ug sa atong katawohan. Kay may makamatay nga kapildihon sa tibook nga ciudad: ang kamot sa Dios mabug-at kaayo didto.
And they send and gather all the princes of the Philistines, and say, 'Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and it turneth back to its place, and it doth not put us to death — and our people;' for there hath been a deadly destruction throughout all the city, very heavy hath the hand of God been there,
12 Ug ang mga tawo nga wala mamatay gihampak sa mga hubag; ug ang pagsinggit sa ciudad misaka sa langit.
and the men who have not died have been smitten with emerods, and the cry of the city goeth up into the heavens.
