Josue 6
1 Karon gisirad-an na ang tanang mga pultahan sa Jerico tungod sa kasundalohan sa Israel. Wala nay nakagawas ug wala nay nakasulod.
Meanwhile, the guards of Jericho shut the gates of the city tightly, because [they were afraid] of the Israeli [army]. No one was allowed to go into the city or go out of it.
2 Miingon si Yahweh kang Josue, “Tan-awa, gitugyan na nako ang Jerico sa imong kamot, ang hari niini, ug ang mga hanas nga kasundalohan niini.
Then Yahweh said to Joshua, “Listen [to what I say]! I am going to enable your army [SYN] to capture/conquer [MTY] Jericho and its king and its soldiers.
3 Kinahanglan nga manglakaw kamo libot sa siyudad, ang tanang mga lalaki nga manggugubat magalibot ug kausa sa siyudad. Kinahanglan buhaton ninyo kini sulod sa unom ka adlaw.
So your army must march around the city for six days, once each day.
4 Kinahanglan nga ang pito ka pari magdala ug pito ka budyong nga mga sungay sa laking karnero nga mag-una sa sagradong sudlanan sa kasabotan. Sa ikapito nga adlaw, kinahanglan nga manglakaw kamo libot sa siyudad sa makapito ka higayon, ug kinahanglan nga patingogon sa makusog sa mga pari ang mga budyong.
Tell seven priests to march around with them. Each priest must carry a trumpet. Four other priests must carry the sacred chest, and they must walk behind the priests who are carrying the trumpets. On the seventh day, the army must march around the city seven times, and the priests must be blowing the trumpets while they march.
5 Unya kinahanglan nga patingogon nila ug maayo ang sungay sa laking karnero, ug sa dihang madungog ninyo ang tingog sa budyong ang tanang katawhan kinahanglan mosinggit uban sa makusog nga panagsinggit, ug ang paril sa siyudad malumpag gayod. Kinahanglan nga mosulong ang kasundalohan, ang matag usa moabante sa unahan.”
[After they have all marched around the city seven times], the priests must blow their trumpets [once], very loudly. When the Israeli people/soldiers hear that, they must shout loudly. Then the wall of the city will collapse, and all the Israeli people/soldiers will go straight into the city.”
6 Unya gitawag ni Josue nga anak ni Nun, ang mga pari ug giingnan sila, “Alsaha ang sagradong sudlanan sa kasabotan, ug tugoti ang pito ka pari nga magdala ug pito ka budyong nga mga sungay sa laking karnero sa atubangan sa sagradong sudlanan sa kasabotan ni Yahweh.”
So Joshua summoned the priests and said to them, “Tell four priests to carry the chest [that contains] the Ten Commandments that Yahweh [gave to us]. [Tell] seven [other] priests to carry trumpets and walk in front of them.”
7 Ug miingon siya sa katawhan, “Padayon kamo ug lakaw libot sa siyudad, ug paunaha sa sagradong sudlanan sa kasabotan ni Yahweh ang mga lalaki nga sangkap sa hinagiban.”
And Joshua told the soldiers, “Start marching! March around the city, with several soldiers with weapons marching in front. Behind them will march the seven priests with trumpets, and behind them will march the four priests carrying Yahweh’s [sacred] chest.”
8 Sama sa giingon ni Josue sa katawhan, ang pito ka pari nagdala ug pito ka budyong nga mga sungay sa laking karnero sa atubangan ni Yahweh. Samtang mipadayon sila, gipatingog nila sa makusog ang mga budyong. Ang sudlanan sa kasabotan ni Yahweh misunod kanila.
After Joshua told that to the army, the seven priests, each carrying a sacred trumpet, started marching, blowing their trumpets. The four priests who were carrying Yahweh’s sacred chest followed them.
9 Naglakaw ug una sa mga pari ang mga lalaki nga sangkap sa hinagiban, ug gipatingog nila sa makusog ang ilang mga budyong, apan ang tigbantay sa likod nagsunod sa sagradong sudlanan sa kasabotan, ug nagpadayon ang mga pari sa pagpatingog sa ilang mga budyong.
The group of soldiers carrying weapons marched in front of the priests who were blowing their trumpets, and the rest of the soldiers followed [the four men carrying] the chest. While [they were all marching], [the seven priests] were blowing their trumpets.
10 Apan gimandoan ni Josue ang mga tawo, nga nag-ingon, “Ayaw pagsinggit. Kinahanglan nga walay tingog nga mogawas sa inyong baba hangtod sa adlaw nga mosulti ako kaninyo sa pagsinggit. Unya diha pa lamang kamo mosinggit.”
But [the rest of] the people [were silent, because] Joshua had commanded them, “Do not make a war cry. Do not yell or say anything until the day when I tell you to shout. On that day, you must shout [loudly]!”
11 Busa gipalibot niya ug kausa ang sagradong sudlanan sa kasabotan sa siyudad nianang adlawa. Unya misulod sila sa ilang kampo, ug nagpabilin sila didto sa kampo sa pagkagabii.
So the men carrying Yahweh’s sacred chest and all the others did what Joshua told them to do. They marched around the city once. Then they all returned to their camp and stayed there that night.
12 Unya mibangon si Josue sa sayo sa kabuntagon, ug gialsa sa mga pari ang sagradong sudlanan sa kasabotan ni Yahweh.
The next morning, Joshua and the priests got up early, and the four priests carried Yahweh’s sacred chest [again].
13 Ang pito ka mga pari nga nagdala sa pito ka budyong nga mga sungay sa laking karnero sa atubangan sa sagradong sudlanan sa kasabotan, ug nagpadayon sa paglakaw, gipatingog nila sa makusog ang mga budyong. Ang kasundalohan nga sangkap sa hinagiban naglakaw diha sa ilang atubangan. Apan sa dihang naglakaw sunod sa sagradong sudlanan sa kasabotan ang tigbantay sa likod, unya nagpadayon sila sa pagpatingog sa mga budyong.
The seven priests who were carrying trumpets went in front of [the men carrying] the chest. The seven priests were blowing their trumpets as they marched. The group of soldiers carrying weapons went in front of all the others, and the rest of the army followed all the others. All the time, the seven priests were blowing their trumpets.
14 Nanglakaw sila libot sa siyudad sa makausa sa ikaduha nga adlaw ug mibalik ngadto sa kampo. Gibuhat nila kini sulod sa unom ka adlaw.
So on that second day they again marched around the city once and then returned to their camp. They did the same thing for six days.
15 Mao kadto ang ikapito nga adlaw nga mibangon sila ug sayo sa banagbanag, ug nanglakaw sila libot sa siyudad sa sama gihapon nga pamaagi, niining higayona sa makapito ka higayon. Mao kini nga adlaw nga nanglakaw sila libot sa siyudad sa makapito ka higayon.
On the seventh day, they got up at dawn, and they all marched around the city the same way that they had done before, but this time they marched around the city seven times.
16 Ikapito kadto nga adlaw sa dihang gipatingog sa makusog sa mga pari ang mga budyong, nga gimandoan ni Josue ang katawhan, “Singgit! Kay gihatag na ni Yahweh kaninyo ang siyudad.
As they were marching around the seventh time, when the priests were about to blow the long/loud blast on their trumpets, Joshua commanded the people, “Shout, because Yahweh will enable you to capture the city!
17 Ang siyudad ug ang tanang anaa niini gigahin kang Yahweh aron laglagon. Si Rahab lamang ang babaye nga nagabaligya ug dungog ang mabuhi—siya ug ang tanan nga kauban niya sa iyang panimalay— tungod kay gitagoan man niya ang mga lalaki nga atong gipadala.
Yahweh has declared that you must destroy [IDM] the city and everything in it [to show that it belongs to him]. You must spare only Rahab the prostitute and the others who are in her house, because she hid the spies whom we sent there.
18 Apan alang kaninyo, pagbantay mahitungod sa pagkuha sa gilain nga mga butang alang sa paglaglag, aron nga human ninyo kini mabutangan ug timailhan alang sa paglaglag, dili na dayon kamo mokuha ug bisan unsa niini. Kung buhaton ninyo kini, himoon ninyo ang kampo sa Israel nga kinahanglan laglagon ug magdala kamo ug kasamok niini.
And because Yahweh has declared that everything must be destroyed [IDM], you must not take [EUP] any of the things in the city. If you take anything, you will cause Yahweh to destroy our own camp and cause terrible things to happen to us.
19 Ang tanang plata, bulawan, ug ang mga butang nga hinimo sa tumbaga ug puthaw nga gilain alang kang Yahweh. Kinahanglan nga moadto kini ngadto sa tipiganan sa bahandi ni Yahweh.”
But all the silver and gold and articles made from iron and bronze that you find, you must set apart for Yahweh. You must put those things in his treasury.”
20 Busa naninggit ang mga tawo, ug nagpatingog sila sa mga budyong. Nahitabo kadto nga sa dihang nadungog sa mga tawo ang tingog sa budyong, naninggit sila uban sa makusog nga tingog, ug nalumpag nga nahapla ang paril busa nanungas ang mga tawo ngadto sa siyudad, ang matag usa nagdiritso sa unahan. Ug giilog nila ang siyudad.
So they did what Joshua told them to do. When the priests blew a long blast on their trumpets, the people/army shouted loudly, and the wall of the city collapsed! Then the Israeli soldiers rushed in and captured the city.
21 Gipukan gayod nila sa hingpit ang tanang anaa sa siyudad pinaagi sa sulab sa espada—lalaki ug babaye, batan-on ug tigulang, torong baka, karnero ug mga asno.
They killed [IDM] every living thing in the city—men and women, young people and old people, even cattle and sheep and donkeys.
22 Unya giingnan ni Josue ang duha ka lalaki nga naniid sa yuta, “Adto ngadto sa balay sa babaye nga nagbaligya sa iyang dungog. Pagawsa ang babaye ug ang tanan nga uban kaniya, sumala sa inyong gipanumpa kaniya.”
Then Joshua said to the two men (who had spied on/whom he had sent to learn all they could about) the land, “Go to the prostitute’s house. Bring her out, along with all her family, just as you promised to her.”
23 Busa ang batan-on nga mga lalaki nga naniid misulod ug gidala si Rahab pagawas. Gipagawas usab nila ang iyang amahan, inahan, mga igsoon nga lalaki, ug ang tanang kaparyentihan nga uban niya. Gidala nila sila ngadto sa dapit sa gawas sa kampo sa Israel.
So those two spies/men went into Rahab’s house and brought her out. They also brought out her father and mother and her brothers, and all the rest of her family. Joshua’s men spared Rahab the prostitute. They also did not kill all her relatives, because she had hidden and protected the spies/men whom Joshua had sent to Jericho. The two men brought them all out and put them in a place outside the camp of the Israelis. Rahab still lives among us Israeli people. Then the soldiers gathered the articles made from silver, gold, bronze, and iron that they found and they put them all into Yahweh’s treasury. But they burned everything else that was in the city.
24 Ug gisunog nila ang siyudad ug ang tanan nga anaa niini. Ang plata lamang, bulawan, ug mga sudlanan nga tumbaga ug puthaw ang gibutang sa tipiganan sa bahandi sa balay ni Yahweh.
25 Apan gitugotan ni Josue si Rahab ang babaye nga nagbaligya ug dungog, ang panimalay sa iyang amahan, ug ang tanan nga uban kaniya nga mabuhi. Nagpuyo siya sa Israel hangtod niining adlawa tungod kay gitagoan man niya ang mga lalaki nga gipadala ni Josue aron sa pagpaniid sa Jerico.
26 Unya gimandoan sila ni Josue niadtong panahona uban sa pagpanumpa, ug miingon siya, “Matinunglo sa atubangan ni Yahweh ang tawo nga motukod pag-usab niini nga siyudad sa Jerico. Ang kinabuhi sa iyang kamagulangan nga anak nga lalaki mao ang bayad, kung ipahiluna niya ang patukoranan, ug ang kinabuhi sa iyang kamanghoran nga anak nga lalaki mao ang bayad, kung tukoron niya ang mga ganghaan niini.”
At that time, Joshua warned the people, “Yahweh will curse/punish anyone who tries to rebuild this city, Jericho. When that person lays/builds its foundation, his oldest son will die. And when he finishes building the city wall and sets up its gates, his youngest son will die.”
27 Busa nagauban si Yahweh kang Josue, ug ang iyang kabantogan mikaylap sa tibuok yuta.
Because of what happened that day, it was clear that Yahweh was with/helped Joshua, and Joshua became famous throughout the land.
