Josue 14
1 Mao kini ang mga dapit sa yuta nga nadawat sa katawhan sa Israel ingon nga ilang panulundon sa yuta sa Canaan, nga gigahin ngadto kanila ni Eleazar nga pari, ni Josue nga anak nga lalaki ni Nun, ug sa mga pangulo sa tribo sa mga pamilya sa ilang mga katigulangan diha sa katawhan sa Israel.
Eleazar the Supreme Priest, Joshua, and the leaders of the [twelve] tribes repeated what land would be allotted to each of the Israeli tribes in Canaan.
2 Ang ilang mga panulondon gipili pinaagi sa pagripa sa siyam ug katunga sa mga tribo, sumala sa gimando ni Yahweh pinaagi kang Moises.
Yahweh had told Moses many years previously in what way he wanted the division of the land to be decided. Moses had already declared that two and a half tribes would be allotted land on the east side of the Jordan [River]. Joseph had two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim. [Half of the tribe descended from Manasseh was allotted land on the east side of the Jordan, along with the tribes of Reuben and Gad]. The people belonging to the nine and a half other tribes [on the west side of the Jordan River] threw (lots/stones that had been marked) to decide which land each tribe would receive. The tribe of Levi was not allotted any land. They received only towns [that already existed], towns in which to live, and (pastures/fields of grass) for their animals.
3 Kay gihatag na man ni Moises ang panulondon sa duha ug sa katunga sa mga tribo ang unahan sa Jordan, apan wala siya mihatag ug panulondon sa mga Levita.
4 Sa pagkatinuod duha ka tribo ang tribo ni Jose, ang Manases ug Efraim. Ug wala gayoy yutang panulondon nga gihatag ngadto sa mga Levita, apan mga siyudad lamang nga ilang kapuy-an, uban ang sibsibanan sa ilang binuhing mananap ug alang sa ilang kaugalingong mga kahimanan sa panginabuhi.
5 Gibuhat sa katawhan sa Israel sumala sa gimando ni Yahweh kang Moises, busa gibahinbahin nila ang yuta.
6 Unya miadto ang tribo ni Juda kang Josue didto sa Gigal. Si Caleb nga anak nga lalaki ni Jefone nga Kenisihanon, miingon kaniya, “Nasayod ka kung unsa ang gisulti ni Yahweh kang Moises ang tawo sa Dios nga adunay kahangawa kanimo ug kanako ngadto sa Kades Barnea.
One day some men from the tribe of Judah went to Joshua while he and all the Israelis were at Gilgal. Among those men was Jephunneh’s son Caleb. He said to Joshua, “[I am sure that] you remember what Yahweh said to the prophet Moses about you and me when we were at Kadesh-Barnea.
7 40 anyos ako sa dihang gipadala ako ni Moises nga alagad ni Yahweh gikan sa Kades Barnea aron sa pagpaniid sa yuta. Nagpahibalo ako kaniya pag-usab sumala sa giingon sa akong kasingkasing.
I was 40 years old at that time. Moses sent me [and you and some other men] to explore this land. When we returned, I gave to Moses a true report [IDM] about what we had seen.
8 Apan ang akong mga igsoon nga lalaki nga miadto uban kanako nagpatunaw sa kasingkasing sa mga tawo tungod sa kahadlok. Apan hingpit ko nga gisunod si Yahweh nga akong Dios.
The other men who went with us [gave a report that] caused the people to be afraid [IDM]. But I fully/completely believed [that] Yahweh [would enable us to take the land from the people who lived there].
9 Nanumpa si Moises nianang adlawa, nga nag-ingon, 'Sigurado gayod nga ang yuta nga gilaktan sa imong mga tiil mahimong panunlondon alang kanimo ug sa imong mga anak hangtod sa kahangtoran, tungod kay hingpit mo man nga gisunod si Yahweh nga akong Dios.'
So on that day, Moses solemnly promised me, ‘[Some of] the land on which you walked will become yours. It will belong to your descendants forever. I am giving it to you because you fully trusted in Yahweh, my God.’
10 Karon, tan-awa! Gibuhi pa gihapon ako ni Yahweh niining 45 ka tuig, sama sa iyang giingon—gikan sa panahon nga nagsulti si Yahweh niini nga pulong kang Moises, samtang nagpanaw ang mga Israelita sa kamingawan. Karon, tan-awa! 85 na ako ka tuig.
“Now Yahweh has done for me what he promised. Forty-five years have passed since Moses said that to me during the time that we were wandering around in the desert. And just like Yahweh promised, he has kept me alive and well all during that time. Now I am eighty-five years old.
11 Kusgan pa gihapon ako hangtod niining adlawa sama sa panahon nga gipadala ako ni Moises kaniadto. Ang akong kusog karon sama sa akong kusog kaniadto, alang sa gubat ug sa mahitabo ug sa umaabot.
I am as strong today as I was on the day that Moses sent me [to explore this land]. I am as ready to fight now as I was then.
12 Busa karon ihatag kanako kining kabungtoran, nga gisaad ni Yahweh kanako niadtong adlawa. Kay nadungog nimo nianang adlawa nga ang mga kaliwat ni Anakim atoa didto uban sa bantogan ug lig-on nga mga siyudad. Mahimo nga mouban si Yahweh kanako ug papahawaon ko sila, sumala sa giingon ni Yahweh.”
So please give me the hilly area that Yahweh promised to give to me at that time long ago. At that time, you heard [me say] that the Amalek people-group lived there. You heard me say that their cities were large, and they had walls around them [to protect them from attacks by their enemies]. But now, Yahweh will help me, and as a result I will force them to leave, just like Yahweh said would happen.”
13 Unya gipanalanginan siya ni Josue ug gihatag kaniya ang Hebron ingon nga panulundon ni Caleb nga anak nga lalaki ni Jefone.
So Joshua [asked God to] bless Caleb, and he gave to Caleb [the city of] Hebron.
14 Busa ang Hebron nahimong panulondon ni Caleb nga anak nga lalaki ni Jefone nga Kenisihanon hangtod niining adlawa, tungod kay mituman man gayod siya kang Yahweh, nga Dios sa Israel.
Previously that city was called Kiriath-Arba, because Arba was the greatest man among the Amalek people-group. Hebron still belongs to the descendants of Caleb, because Caleb completely/fully trusted in Yahweh, the God whom we Israelis [worship], and obeyed him. After that happened, there was (peace/no battles) in [Canaan] land [for many years].
15 Karon ang ngalan sa Hebron kaniadto mao ang Kiriat-Arba. (Si Arba ang nahimong labing bantogan nga kaliwat ni Anakim.) Unya nagmalinawon ang yuta gikan sa panaggubat.
