Jeremias 51
1 “Miingon si Yahweh niini: Tan-awa, pahuroson ko ang hangin sa kalaglagan batok sa Babilonia ug batok niadtong namuyo sa Leb Kamai.
This is what Yahweh says: “I will inspire/motivate [an army] to destroy Babylon [like a powerful] wind [MET], and [also] to destroy the people of Babylonia.
2 Magpadala ako ug mga langyaw ngadto sa Babilonia. Patibulaagon nila siya ug gun-obon ang iyang yuta, kay moabot sila gikan sa tanang bahin batok kaniya sa adlaw sa katalagman.
I will send a foreign army to come to get rid of Babylonia [like a strong wind] that blows away chaff. They will attack from every direction on that day of disaster.
3 Ayaw tugoti nga makabinat pa ang mga tigpana sa ilang mga pana; ayaw sila tugoti nga makasul-ob pa ug panagang. Ayaw saylohi ang iyang mga batan-on nga kalalakin-an; igahin ang tibuok niya nga kasundalohan alang sa kalaglagan.
[I will tell them, ] ‘Do not allow the archers [of Babylon] to [have time to] put on their armor or draw their bows. Do not spare the young men of Babylon. Completely destroy their army.’
4 Kay mangahagba ang samaran nga mga tawo diha sa yuta sa mga Caldeanhon; kadtong mangamatay mangahagba sa iyang kadalanan.
Their soldiers will fall dead in Babylonia; [they will die after being] wounded in the streets.
5 Kay wala gisalikway ang Israel ug ang Juda sa ilang Dios, ni Yahweh nga labawng makagagahom, bisan tuod nga napuno ang ilang yuta sa nabuhat nga mga kasaypanan batok kaniya nga Balaan sa Israel.
[I, ] the Commander of the armies of angels, the Israelis’ God, have not abandoned Israel and Judah. [Even though] their land was full of people who sinned against [me], the Holy God of Israel, I am still their God.
6 Kalagiw gikan sa taliwala sa Babilonia; tugoti nga luwason sa matag tawo ang iyang kaugalingon. Ayaw ug kalaglag sa iyang kasal-anan. Tungod kay mao na kini ang takna sa pagpanimalos ni Yahweh. Panimaslan niya kining tanan diha kaniya.
[You people of Israel and Judah, ] flee from Babylon! Run away from there! Do not stay there and be killed when I punish [the people of Babylon]! It will be the time when I will get revenge; I will do to them what they deserve.
7 Ang Babilonia usa ka kupa nga bulawan nga gigunitan ni Yahweh nga nakapahubog sa tibuok kalibotan; giinom sa mga nasod ang bino sa Babilonia ug nangabuang sila.
Babylon has been [like] [MET] a gold cup in my hand, [a cup that is full of wine] that caused people all over the earth [who drank some of it to become] drunk. [It is as though] the [rulers of] the nations drank the wine from Babylon, and it caused them to become crazy.
8 Kalit lamang nga mahugno ug malaglag ang Babilonia. Pagdangoyngoy alang kaniya! Hatagi siya ug tambal alang sa iyang kasakit; tingali ug mamaayo siya.
But suddenly Babylon will be conquered. [You foreigners who live in Babylon, ] weep for its people. Give them medicine for their wounds; perhaps they can be healed.”
9 'Nangandoy kami nga maayo ang Babilonia, apan wala siya naayo. Mamiya kitang tanan ug mopahilayo kaniya, ngadto sa atong kaugalingon nga yuta. Kay misangko ngadto sa kalangitan ang iyang pagkasad-an; misangko na kini ngadto sa kapanganoran.
We [foreigners] would have [tried to] heal them, but [now] they cannot be healed. [So we will not try to help them; ] we will abandon them, and return to our own lands, because [it is as though] the punishment they are receiving is so great that it reaches up to the clouds in sky, [so great that no one can measure it].
10 Gipahayag ni Yahweh ang atong pagka walay sala. Dali kamo, isugid nato sa Zion ang mga nabuhat ni Yahweh nga atong Dios.'
Yahweh has (vindicated us/shown that we were right); [so] let’s proclaim in Jerusalem everything that Yahweh our God has done [for us].
11 Baira ang mga udyong ug dad-a ang mga taming. Gidasig ni Yahweh ang kasingkasing sa hari sa Medes diha sa laraw nga laglagon ang Babilonia. Alang kini sa pagpanimalos ni Yahweh, pagpanimalos alang sa pagkagun-ob sa iyang templo.
[You enemy soldiers, ] sharpen your arrows! Lift up your shields, [because] Yahweh has incited your kings of Media [and Persia to march with their armies] to Babylon and to destroy it. That is how Yahweh will get revenge on [those foreigners who entered] his temple [in Jerusalem] and defiled it.
12 Iisa ang bandera diha sa mga paril sa Babilonia; lig-ona ang pagbantay; ipahiluna ang mga tigbantay; andama ang mga pagbanhig; tungod kay pagabuhaton sa GINOO ang iyang giingon mahitungod sa mga lumolupyo sa Babilonia.
Lift up a battle flag close to the walls of Babylon! (Reinforce the/Appoint more) guards, and tell the watchmen to stand [in their positions]! Prepare an ambush, because Yahweh is about to accomplish all that he has planned to do to the people of Babylon.
13 Kamong katawhan nga namuyo daplin sa daghan nga mga sapa, kamong katawhan nga adunahan sa mga bahandi, moabot na ang inyong kataposan. Mubo na lamang karon ang hut-ong sa inyong kinabuhi.
Babylon is [a city] near the great [Euphrates] River, a city in which there are many rich people, but it is time for Babylon to be finished; the time [for the city] to exist is ended.
14 Misaad si Yahweh nga labawng makagagahom pinaagi sa kaugalingon niyang kinabuhi, 'Pun-on ko ikaw sa imong mga kaaway, sama sa hampak sa panon sa mga dulon; magpatugbaw sila ug singgit sa pagpakiggubat batok kanimo.'
The Commander of the armies of angels has solemnly promised, using his own name, “Your cities will be filled with your enemies; I will cause them to be like [SIM] a swarm of locusts; and they will shout triumphantly [when they conquer your city].”
15 Gibuhat niya ang kalibotan pinaagi sa iyang gahom; gipahimutang niya ang kalibotan pinaagi sa iyang kaalam. Pinaagi sa iyang panabot gipahalapad niya ang kalangitan.
Yahweh created the earth by his power; he established it by his wisdom, and he stretched out the sky by his understanding.
16 Sa dihang magpadalugdog siya, adunay pagdahunog sa katubigan diha sa kalangitan, kay gipasaka niya ang alisngaw gikan sa kinatumyan sa kalibotan. Nagpakilat siya alang sa ulan ug nagpadala ug hangin gikan sa iyang mga lawak nga tipiganan.
When he speaks loudly, there is thunder in the sky; he causes clouds to form in every part of the earth. He sends lightning with the rain and releases the winds from his storehouses.
17 Nahimong walay alamag ang matag tawo, mga walay kahibalo. Naulawan ang matag tigpanday sa puthaw pinaagi sa iyang mga diosdios. Tungod kay dili tinuod ug walay kinabuhi ang iyang hinimo nga mga larawan.
People are senseless, and they know very little [HYP]; those who make idols are [always] disappointed, because their idols [do nothing for them]. The images/statues that they make are not real [gods]; they are lifeless.
18 Wala kini mga pulos, ang binuhat sa mga bugalbugalon; mangahanaw kini sa takna nga pagasilotan na kini.
Idols are worthless; they deserve to be ridiculed; there will be a time when they will [all] be destroyed.
19 Apan ang Dios, nga Dios ni Jacob, dili sama niini, tungod kay siya man ang naghulma sa tanang mga butang. Ang Israel mao ang tribo sa iyang panulondon; ang iyang ngalan mao si Yahweh nga labawng makagagahom.
But the God whom [we] Israelis [worship] is not like those [idols]; he is the one who created everything [that exists]; [we], the people of Israel, belong to him; his name is ‘the Commander of the armies of angels’.
20 Ikaw ang akong martilyo sa gubat, ang akong hinagiban alang sa gubat. Pinaagi kanimo pagadugmokon ko ang mga kanasoran ug laglagon ang mga gingharian.
Yahweh says [about the army of Babylonia] (OR, [about a nation that will attack Babylonia)], “You have been [like] [MET] my battle-axe and war-club; with your [power] I have shattered nations and destroyed [many] kingdoms.
21 Pinaagi kanimo pagadugmokon ko ang mga kabayo ug ang mga nagsakay niini; pinaagi kanimo pagadugmokon ko ang mga karwahe ug ang mga nagpadagan niini.
With your [power] I have shattered armies [of other nations]: I destroyed [their] horses and their riders, [their] chariots and [their] chariot-drivers.
22 Pinaagi kanimo pagadukmokon ko ang matag lalaki ug babaye; pinaagi kanimo pagadugmokon ko ang mga tigulang ug ang mga batan-on. Pinaagi kanimo pagadugmokon ko ang mga batan-on nga mga kalalakin-an ug ang mga babayeng ulay.
With your [power] I shattered men and women, old people and children, young men and young women.
23 Pinaagi kanimo pagadukmokon ko ang mga magbalantay sa mga karnero ug ang mga panon sa ilang mga karnero; pinaagi kanimo pagadugmokon ko ang mga magdadaro nga mga kalalakin-an ug ang ilang mga pundok. Pinaagi kanimo pagadugmokon ko ang mga gobernador ug ang mga opisyal.
With your [power] I shattered shepherds and their flocks [of sheep], farmers and their oxen, governors and [their] officials.”
24 Panimaslan ko ang Babilonia ug ang tanan nga mga lumolupyo sa Caldea diha sa imong atubangan tungod sa tanang daotan nga mga butang nga ilang gibuhat sa Zion—mao kini ang gipahayag ni Yahweh.
But, Yahweh [also] says, “[Soon] I will repay/punish [you] people in Babylon and in the rest of Babylonia for all the evil things that you have done in Jerusalem.
25 Tan-awa, batok ako kanimo, bukid sa kalaglagan—mao kini ang gipahayag ni Yahweh—nga molaglag sa tibuok kalibotan. Iisa ko ang akong kamot batok kaninyo, ug ipaligid ko kamo paubos gikan sa mga pangpang, ug pagaugdawon ko ang kabukiran.
[Babylonia is] [APO] like [MET] a great mountain [from which bandits descend] to (plunder/steal things from) people all over the earth. But I, Yahweh, am the enemy of you [people of Babylonia]. I will raise my fist to strike you. I will knock you down from the cliffs and cause you to be [only] a huge pile of burned rubble.
26 Busa dili na sila mokuha ug bisan unsa nga bato diha kanimo aron sa pagtukod sa suok o sa patukoranan sa dako nga balay; tungod kay maguba ka hangtod sa kahangtoran—mao kini ang gipahayag ni Yahweh.
Your [city] will be abandoned forever; [even] the stones in your [city] will never [again] be used for buildings. [Your city will be completely destroyed].”
27 Iisa ang usa ka bandera ibabaw sa kalibotan. Patingoga ang budyong ngadto sa mga nasod. Tawga ang mga nasod sa pagsulong kaniya: Ararat, Mini, ug Ashkenaz. Pagpili ug usa ka pangulo aron sa pagsulong kaniya; pagdala ug mga kabayo sama sa nagpanon nga mga dulon.
[Tell] the nations to lift up a battle flag! [Tell them to] shout the battle-cry! Gather all their armies to fight against Babylon! Prepare the nations to attack Babylon. Summon [the armies of] the kingdoms [north of Babylonia]—from Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz. Appoint a commander for them, and bring [a great number of] horses; [there must be a huge number of horses]; that [huge number] will resemble [SIM] a swarm of locusts.
28 Andama ang mga nasod aron sa pagsulong kaniya: Ang mga hari sa Medes ug ang mga gobernador niini, ang tanan nga mga opisyal niini ug ang tanan nga mga yuta nga ilalom sa iyang pagdumala.
Prepare the [armies of other nations], armies that will be led by the kings of Media [and Persia], their governors and [their] officials.
29 Kay matay-og ug mag-agulo ang yuta, sanglit magapadayon man ang mga laraw ni Yahweh batok sa Babilonia, aron nga mahimong awaaw ang yuta sa Babilonia diin wala nay magpuyo.
[When they attack Babylon, it will be as though] the earth will shake and writhe [in pain], because [those armies] will accomplish everything that Yahweh has planned to do to Babylon; they will destroy it completely, [with the result that] no one will live there [again].
30 Mihunong sa pagpakig-away ang mga kasundalohan sa Babilonia; nagpabilin lamang sila sa ilang mga kota. Nawad-an sila ug umoy; nahimo silang mga babaye—nangasunog ang iyang mga balay, nangaguba ang mga babag sa iyang mga ganghaan.
[When their enemies attack], the strongest warriors in Babylon will not fight. They will remain in their barracks, without any strength. They will be as timid/weak as [SIM] women. [The enemy soldiers] will burn the buildings in the city and pull down the bars [of the city gates].
31 Midagan ang mensahero aron sa pagbalita ngadto sa lain pa nga mensahero, ug gisultihan sa tighatod ug balita ang lain nga tighatod sa balita aron ibalita ngadto sa hari sa Babilonia nga nailog na ang tibuok niyang siyudad.
Messengers will go quickly, one after another, to tell the king that his city has been captured.
32 Busa nailog na ang mga tabokanan sa suba; gisunog sa kaaway ang kabugangan nga anaa sa huyonghuyong nga yuta ug naglibog na ang mga kalalakin-an nga manggugubat nga gikan sa Babilonia.
The places at which people can cross the river [to escape from the city] will be blocked. The dry reeds in the marshes/swamps will be set on fire, and the soldiers of Babylon will be terrified.
33 Kay miingon si Yahweh nga labawng makakagahom, nga Dios sa Israel: Sama sa giokanan ang anak nga babaye sa Babilonia. Mao na kini ang takna nga tunob-tunoban siya. Sa dili madugay moabot na ang takna sa pag-ani kaniya.
This is what the Commander of the armies of angels, the God whom [we] Israelis [worship], says; “Babylon is like [SIM] wheat on the ground where it is about to be threshed by [animals] tramping on it. Very soon [their enemies] will trample on [the city of] Babylon [MET].”
34 Gilamoy ako ni Nebucadnezar nga hari sa Babilonia; gilibog niya ako. Ug gihimo akong tibod nga walay sulod; gilamoy niya ako sama sa mapintas nga mananap; gibusog niya ang iyang tiyan pinaagi sa lamian nako nga mga pagkaon; gihugasan niya ako.'
[The army of] Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon, has attacked and crushed us [Israeli people], and we have no strength [left]. [It is as though] they have swallowed us like a [great] monster that filled its belly with all our tasty parts, and then has spit out [what it did not like].
35 Siya nga nagpuyo sa Zion moingon, 'Hinaot nga maanaa sa Babilonia ang kadaot nga gibuhat kanako ug sa akong unod. 'Moingon ang Jerusalem, 'Hinaot nga maanaa sa mga lumolupyo sa Caldea ang akong dugo.'
[So] the people of [PRS] Jerusalem say [to Yahweh], “Cause the people of Babylon to suffer like they caused us to suffer! Cause the people of Babylonia to be punished for killing [MTY] our people!”
36 Busa miingon si Yahweh niini: Tan-awa, dapigan ko ang inyong mga kahimtang ug manimalos ako alang kaninyo. Kay pahubason ko ang katubigan sa Babilonia ug mohunong sa pagdagayday ang iyang mga tubod.
And this is what Yahweh replies to the people of Jerusalem: “I will [be like your lawyer to] defend you, and I will avenge you. I will dry up the river in Babylon and [all] the springs of water.
37 Mahimong tinapok sa ginuba ang Babilonia, puloy-anan sa ihalas nga mga iro, kahadlokan, talamayon, diin walay mga lumolupyo.
Babylon will become a heap of ruins, a place where jackals/wolves live. It will become a place that people are horrified about and will ridicule; it will be a place where no one lives.
38 Magdungan ug ngulob ang mga taga Babilonia sama sa batan-on nga mga liyon. Magngulob sila sama sa batang laki nga liyon.
The people of Babylon will [all] roar like young lions; they will growl like baby lions.
39 Sa dihang magmainiton sila uban sa pagkahakog, maghimo ako ug kumbira alang kanila; hubogon ko sila aron nga mangalipay sila pag-ayo, ug unya matulog sa walay kataposan nga pagkatulog ug dili na gayod makamata—mao kini ang gipahayag ni Yahweh—
But while they are extremely hungry, I will prepare a [different kind of] feast for them. [It is as though] I will cause them to drink wine until they are very drunk, [with the result that] they will fall asleep. But they will never wake up from that sleep!
40 ipadala ko sila sama sa mga karnero ngadto sa ihawanan, sama sa toro nga mga karnero uban sa laki nga mga kanding.
I will bring them down to a place where they will be slaughtered, like [SIM] [someone who takes] lambs or rams or goats [to where they will be slaughtered for sacrifices].
41 Nailog na gayud ang Babilonia! Busa gisakmit ang tanang pagdayeg sa tibuok kalibotan. Tan-awa napukan na gayud ang dapit sa Babilonia taliwala sa mga kanasoran.
People all over the earth [now] (honor/praise) Babylon; they say that it is a great city. But I will cause it to become a [place about which people of all] nations are horrified.
42 Mitungha ang dagat ibabaw sa Babilonia! Natabonan siya sa hampak sa mga balod.
The [enemies of Babylon] will cover the city [like] huge waves of the sea [DOU].
43 Nahimong biniyaan ang iyang mga siyudad, usa ka mala nga yuta ug usa ka kamingawan, usa ka yuta nga wala gayoy nagpuyo, ug walay tawo nga moagi.
The towns in Babylonia will become ruins, Babylonia will become a dry desert area. It will be a land in which no one lives and which no one walks through.
44 Busa silotan ko si Bel nga anaa sa Babilonia; ipasuka ko kaniya ang iyang nalamoy, ug dili na modagayday ang kanasoran diha kaniya uban sa ilang mga halad. Mangalumpag ang mga paril sa Babilonia.
And I will punish Bel, [the god that the people] of Babylon [worship], and I will cause the people to give back what they have stolen [MET]. [People of other] nations will no longer come to [worship] Bel. And the walls of Babylon will collapse.”
45 Gawas sa iyang taliwala, akong katawhan. Tugoti nga luwason sa matag usa kaninyo ang iyang kaugalingon nga kinabuhi gikan sa akong nagdilaab nga kapungot.
[Yahweh also says, ] “My people, come out of Babylon! Run away from there! Run, because [I], Yahweh, am extremely angry [MTY] [with the people of Babylon, and I will get rid of them]!
46 Ayaw tugoti nga maluya o mahadlok ang inyong mga kasingkasing sa balita nga nadungog diha sa yuta, kay moabot ang balita sulod sa usa ka tuig. Human niini sa sunod nga tuig aduna pay moabot nga balita, ug maanaa ang kasamok sa yuta. Makigbatok ang magmamando sa ubang magmamando.
Do not be discouraged/worried [IDM] or afraid when you hear reports [about what is happening in Babylon]. People will report rumors like that every year, rumors about violent things being done in the land, and rumors about leaders fighting against each other.
47 Busa, tan-awa, moabot ang mga adlaw nga pagasilotan ko na ang mga kinulit nga mga diosdios sa Babilonia. Maulawan ang tibuok niyang yuta, ug mangahagba sa iyang taliwala ang tanan niyang katawhan nga gipamatay.
But it will soon be the time for me to get rid of the idols in Babylon. [People all over] the land will be ashamed [because of being defeated]; and the corpses of their [soldiers] will lie in the streets.
48 Unya magmaya ang kalangitan ug ang kalibotan, ug ang tanan nga anaa niini atubangan sa Babilonia. Kay moabot alang kaniya ang tiglaglag gikan sa habagatan—mao kini ang gipahayag ni Yahweh.
Then all [the angels in] heaven and all the [people on] [PRS] the earth will rejoice, because from the north will come [armies] that will destroy Babylon.
49 “Ingon nga gipahagba sa Babilonia ang tanan niyang mga gipatay sa Israel, busa mangahagba ang tanang mga gipamatay sa iyang yuta diha sa Babilonia.
Like [the soldiers of Babylon] killed the people of Israel and [also] killed others all over the world [HYP], [the people of] Babylon must also be killed.
50 Pahilayo! kamong mga nakalingkawas sa espada, Ayaw pagpabilin dinhi. Hinumdomi si Yahweh sa halayo nga dapit; tugoti nga mahinumdoman ang Jerusalem.
You [Israeli people] who have not been killed [MTY], get out of Babylon! Do not wait! [Even though you are in a land] far away [from Israel], think about Yahweh, and think about Jerusalem!”
51 Naulawan kami, tungod kay nakadungog kami ug mga pagbiaybiay; mitabon sa among mga panagway ang mga pagbugalbugal, tungod kay nakasulod man ang mga langyaw sa balaan nga mga dapit sa balay ni Yahweh.
[The Israeli people say], “We are ashamed. We are completely disgraced [DOU], because foreigners have entered Yahweh’s temple [and (defiled it/caused it to become unfit for worship)].”
52 Busa, tan-awa, moabot na ang mga adlaw—mao kini ang gipahayag ni Yahweh—sa dihang silotan ko na ang iyang kinulit nga mga diosdios, ug mag-agulo ang mga tawong samaran sa tibuok niyang yuta.
Yahweh replies, “[That is true], but there will soon be a time when I will destroy the idols in Babylon, and throughout Babylonia there will be wounded people who will groan.
53 Kay bisan pa ug moadto sa kalangitan ang Babilonia o lig-onon ang mga tag-as niya nga mga kota, moabot ang tiglaglag nga gikan kanako ngadto kaniya—mao kini ang gipahayag ni Yahweh.
Even if [the walls around] Babylon could extend up to the sky, and if its walls/fortifications were extremely strong, I will send [armies] that will destroy the city. [That will surely happen because I, ] Yahweh, have said it.”
54 Miabot ang usa ka singgit sa kasakit gikan sa Babilonia, usa ka hilabihan nga pagkahugno gikan sa yuta sa mga Caldeanhon.
Listen to [the people of] Babylon crying [for help]! And listen to the sounds of things being destroyed all over Babylonia!
55 Tungod kay laglagon ni Yahweh ang Babilonia. Gipahanaw niya ang kusog nga tingog sa Babilonia. Naninggit sama sa mga balod sa daghang katubigan ang ilang mga kaaway; mikusog ug maayo ang ilang tingog.
Yahweh will be destroying Babylon. He will cause the loud noises in the city to cease.
56 Kay miabot na ang mga tiglaglag batok kaniya—batok sa Babilonia! —ug nabihag ang iyang mga manggugubat. Nangabali ang ilang mga udyong, tungod kay si Yahweh mao ang Dios sa pagpanimalos; sigurado gayod nga ipahamtang niya kini nga pagpanimalos.
Enemy troops will surge against the city like [SIM] a great wave. They will capture the city’s mighty soldiers and break their weapons. [That will happen] because Yahweh is a God who punishes [his enemies] justly; he will punish them as they deserve.
57 Kay pagahubogon ko ang iyang mga prinsipe, ang iyang mga magtatambag, ang iyang mga opisyal, ug ang iyang mga kasundalohan, ug mangatulog sila sa walay kataposan nga pagkatulog ug dili na gayod makamata—mao kini ang gipahayag sa Hari: si Yahweh nga labawng makagagahom ang iyang ngalan.
The king, the Commander of the armies of angels says, “I will cause the city officials and wise men, the army captains and soldiers [in Babylon] to become drunk. They will fall asleep, but they will never wake up [again]!”
58 Miingon si Yahweh nga labawng makagagahom niini: Lumpagon gayod sa hingpit ang mga lig-ong paril sa Babilonia, ug pagasunogon ang iyang tag-as nga mga ganghaan. Unya mahimong walay pulos ang pagtabang sa mga tawo nga moduol kaniya; mangasunog ang tanang butang nga gisulayan sa pagbuhat sa mga nasod alang kaniya.”
Yahweh also says, “The thick walls around Babylon will be flattened to the ground. The city gates will be burned. People [from other countries] will work hard [to save the city], but it will be (in vain/useless), because everything [that they have built] will be destroyed by fire.”
59 Mao kini ang pulong ni Jeremias nga propeta nga gimando ngadto kang Seraya nga anak nga lalaki ni Neria nga anak nga lalaki ni Masea sa dihang miadto siya sa Babilonia uban ni Zedekia nga hari sa Juda sa ikaupat nga tuig sa iyang paghari. Karon si Seraya usa ka pangulong opisyal.
Seraiah was the man who made arrangements for the King of Babylon [whenever he traveled]. He was the son of Neraiah and grandson of Mahseiah. When he was about to go to Babylon with King Zedekiah, after Zedekiah had been ruling Judah for almost four years, the prophet Jeremiah gave him a message.
60 Kay gisulat ni Jeremias diha sa linukot nga basahon ang mahitungod sa tanang katalagman nga moabot sa Babilonia—Kining tanan nga mga pulong nga nahisulat mahitungod kini sa Babilonia.
Jeremiah had written on a scroll a list of all the disasters that he had written about, disasters that would soon occur in Babylon.
61 Miingon si Jeremias kang Seraya, “Inig adto nimo sa Babilonia, nan makita ug basahon nimo sa makusog kining mga pulonga.
He said to Seraiah, “When you arrive in Babylon, read [aloud] everything that I have written [on this scroll].
62 Unya moingon ka, 'Yahweh, ikaw mismo ang nagpahayag nga laglagon mo kining dapita, ug nga wala nay tawo o mananap ang mopuyo niini, ug mabiniyaan kini hangtod sa kahangtoran.'
Then pray, ‘Yahweh, you said that you will thoroughly destroy Babylon, with the result that people and animals will no [longer] live there. You said that it will be desolate forever.’
63 Unya sa dihang matapos mo na pagbasa kining linukot nga basahon, hikti kini uban ang bato ug ilabay kini ngadto sa tungatunga sa Eufrates.
[Then], when you have finished reading [what I have written on] the scroll, tie it to a [heavy] stone and throw it into the Euphrates [River].
64 Pag-ingon, 'Maunlod ang Babilonia sama niini. Dili kini makabangon tungod sa katalagman nga akong ipadala batok niini, ug mangahagba sila.”' Dinhi natapos ang mga pulong ni Jeremias.
Then say, ‘In the same way, Babylon [and its people] will disappear and never exist again, because of the disasters that Yahweh will cause to occur there’” That is the end of Jeremiah’s messages.
