Jeremias 42
1 Unya miadto kang Jeremias nga propeta ang tanang mga pangulo sa kasundalohan ug si Johanan nga anak nga lalaki ni Karea, si Jezania nga anak nga lalaki ni Hoshaya, ug ang tanang katawhan gikan sa labing ubos ngadto sa inila.
Then drew near all the captains of the forces, and Johanan son of Kareah and Jezaniah son of Hoshaiah, —and all the people from the least even unto the greatest;
2 Miingon sila kaniya, “Tugoti ang among mga paghangyo nga moabot diha kanimo. Iampo kami ngadto kang Yahweh nga imong Dios alang niining katawhan nga nahibilin, sanglit pipila nalang man kami, sama sa imong nakita.
and said unto Jeremiah the prophet—Let our supplication we beseech thee fall prostrate before thee, and pray thou in our behalf unto Yahweh thy God, in behalf of all this remnant, —for we are left a few out of many, just as thine own eyes do behold us:
3 Hangyoa si Yahweh nga imong Dios nga isulti kanamo ang dalan nga angay namong padulngan ug kung unsa ang angay namong buhaton.”
that Yahweh thy God may tell us the way wherein we should walk, —and the thing that we should do.
4 Busa miingon si Jeremias nga propeta kanila, “Nadungog ko kamo. Paminaw, mag-ampo ako kang Yahweh nga inyong Dios sumala sa inyong gihangyo. Sultihan ko kamo, kung unsa ang itubag ni Yahweh. Wala akoy itago gikan kaninyo.”
And Jeremiah the prophet, said unto them, I have heard; behold me! praying unto Yahweh your God according to your words, —and it shall come to pass that the whole thing that Yahweh shall answer you, I will tell you, I will keep back from you, nothing.
5 Miingon sila kang Jeremias, “Hinaot nga si Yahweh ang mahimong tinuod ug matinud-anon nga saksi batok kanamo, kung dili namo buhaton ang tanan nga gisulti ni Yahweh nga imong Dios nga among buhaton.
They, therefore said unto Jeremiah, Yahweh be against us, as a witness true and faithful, —if according to all the word which Yahweh thy God shall send thee unto us, so we do not perform:
6 Maayo man kini o daotan, tumanon gayod namo ang tingog ni Yahweh nga among Dios, diin gipadala ka namo, aron mahimong maayo ang mga butang alang kanamo kung tumanon namo ang tingog ni Yahweh nga among Dios.”
whether for good or for ill, unto the voice of Yahweh our God for which we are sending thee unto him, will we hearken, —to the end it may be well with us, because we will hearken unto the voice of Yahweh our God.
7 Human sa napulo ka adlaw, miabot ang pulong ni Yahweh kang Jeremias.
And it came to pass at the end of ten days, that the word of Yahweh came unto Jeremiah.
8 Busa gipatawag ni Jeremias si Johanan nga anak nga lalaki ni Karea ug ang tanang mga pangulo sa kasundalohan nga uban kaniya, ug ang tanang katawhan gikan sa labing ubos hangtod ngadto sa inila.
Then called he for Johanan son of Kareah, and for all the princes of the forces who were with him—and for all the people from the least even unto the greatest;
9 Unya miingon siya kanila, “Mao kini ang gisulti ni Yahweh, ang Dios sa Israel—diin gipadala ako ninyo aron isulti ko ang inyong mga hangyo sa iyang atubangan,
and said unto them, Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel—unto whom ye sent me, to cause your supplication to fall prostrate before him: —
10 'Kung mobalik kamo ug mopuyo niini nga yuta, tukoron ko kamo ug dili gun-obon; itanom ko kamo ug dili ibton, kay walaon ko ang mga katalagman nga akong gipadala nganha kaninyo.
If ye will indeed abide, in this land, then will I build you up, and not pull [you] down, and plant you and not uproot [you], —for I have compassion as touching the calamity which I have caused you.
11 Ayaw kahadlok sa hari sa Babilonia nga inyong gikahadlokan. Ayaw siya kahadloki—mao kini ang gipahayag ni Yahweh—sanglit mag-uban man ako kaninyo aron sa pagluwas kaninyo gikan sa iyang mga kamot.
Do not fear the face of the king of Babylon, of whose face ye are afraid, —do not fear him, Urgeth Yahweh, for with you, am I, to save you, and to deliver you out of his hand:
12 Kay kaluy-an ko kamo. Magmaluluy-on ako kaninyo, ug dad-on ko kamo pagbalik sa inyong yuta.
that I may grant you compassions and he may have compassion upon you, —and suffer you to return unto your own soil.
13 Apan kung pananglitan moingon kamo, “Dili kami magpabilin niini nga yuta”— kung dili kamo maminaw sa akong tingog, ang tingog ni Yahweh nga inyong Dios.
But, since ye are saying, —We will not dwell in this land, —nor hearken unto the voice of Yahweh your God:
14 Pananglitan moingon kamo, “Dili! Moadto gayod kami sa yuta sa Ehipto, diin dili na kami makakita ug gubat, ni makadungog sa tingog sa budyong, ug dili na kami magutman. Mopuyo kami didto.”
saying, —No! for, into the land of Egypt, will we go, where we shall not see war, nor the sound of a horn, shall we hear, —nor for bread, shall we be famished, —there, then will we dwell
15 Karon paminaw kamo niini nga pulong ni Yahweh, kamo nga nahibilin sa Juda. Si Yahweh nga labawng makagagahom, ang Dios sa Israel, ang miingon niini, 'Kung buot gayod kamo moadto paingon sa Ehipto, aron molakaw ug mopuyo didto,
Now, therefore, for this cause, hear ye the word of Yahweh, O remnant of Judah, —Thus! saith Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, —If, ye do indeed set your faces to enter Egypt and do enter to sojourn there,
16 ug ang espada nga inyong gikahadlokan mag-una kaninyo didto sa yuta sa Ehipto. Ang kagutom nga inyong gikabalak-an mogukod kaninyo didto sa Ehipto, ug mamatay kamo didto.
then shall it come to pass that the sword which ye are fearing shall, there, overtake you, in the land of Egypt, —and the famine which ye are dreading, shall, there, lay fast hold of you, in Egypt, and, there, shall ye die.
17 Busa mahitabo kini nga ang tanang katawhan nga mogawas aron mopuyo didto sa Ehipto mamatay pinaagi sa espada, kagutom o hampak. Wala gayoy mangaluwas kanila, walay makaikyas sa katalagman nga akong ipahamtang ngadto kanila.
So shall it be with all the men who have set their faces to enter Egypt to sojourn there, they shall die by sword, by famine or by pestilence, —and they shall have neither survival nor escape, from the face of the calamity which I am about to bring in upon them.
18 Kay miingon si Yahweh nga labawng makagagahom, ang Dios sa Israel niini: Sama nga gibubo ang akong kaligutgot ug kapungot didto sa lumolupyo sa Jerusalem, sa samang paagi ibubo ko ang akong kapungot diha kaninyo kung moadto kamo sa Ehipto. Matinuglo kamo ug kalisangan, talamayon, ug dili tahuron, ug dili na gayod ninyo makita kining dapita pag-usab.'”
For—Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, —Just as mine anger and mine indignation have been poured out upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so shall mine indignation be poured out upon you when ye enter into Egypt, —thus shall ye become a curse, and an astonishment and a contempt and a reproach, and ye shall no more see this place.
19 Unya miingon si Jeremias, “Nagsulti si Yahweh mahitungod kaninyo—ang mga nahibilin sa Juda. Ayaw pag-adto sa Ehipto! Nasayod gayod kamo nga ako ang saksi batok kaninyo karong adlawa.
Yahweh hath spoken concerning you, O ye remnant of Judah, Do not enter into Egypt: Know certainly, that I have taken you to witness to-day.
20 Kay makamatay ang inyong pag-ilad sa inyong kaugalingon sa dihang gipadala ninyo ako ngadto kang Yahweh nga inyong Dios ug miingon, 'Pag-ampo ngadto kang Yahweh nga atong Dios alang kanamo. Isulti kanamo ang tanan nga isulti ni Yahweh nga among Dios, ug tumanon namo kini.'
For ye have deceived yourselves at the cost of your lives, for, ye yourselves, sent me unto Yahweh your God, saying, —Pray thou in our behalf, unto Yahweh our God, —and according to all that Yahweh our God shall say, so, tell us and we will do it.
21 Kay gisuginlan ko kamo karong adlawa, apan wala kamo naminaw sa tingog ni Yahweh nga inyong Dios o sa bisan unsang butang mahitungod sa iyang pagpadala kanako nganha kaninyo.
Therefore have I told you to-day, —and yet ye have not hearkened unto the voice of Yahweh your God, even in any thing for which he hath sent me unto you.
22 Busa karon, makasiguro gayod kamo nga mamatay kamo pinaagi sa espada, kagutom, ug hampak sa dapit nga buot ninyong puy-an.”
Now, therefore, know ye certainly, that by sword, by famine, or by pestilence, shall ye die, —in the place whither ye have desired to go, to sojourn.
