Jeremias 26

1 Sa pagsugod sa paghari ni Jehoyakim ang anak nga lalaki ni Josia, miabot kini nga pulong gikan kang Yahweh, nga nag-ingon,

Soon after Jehoiakim became the king of Judah, Yahweh gave [me] this message:

2 “Si Yahweh miingon niini: Tindog didto sa hawanan sa akong puloy-anan ug isulti sa tanang mga siyudad sa Juda nga mangabot aron sa pagsimba dinhi sa akong puloy-anan. Imantala ang tanang mga pulong nga akong gisugo kanimo nga isulti kanila. Ayaw gayod kulangi bisan usa ka pulong!

“This is what [I], Yahweh, am telling you: Stand in the courtyard [in front] of my temple, and speak to all [the people from] the various towns in Judah who come there to worship me. Tell them everything that I tell you; do not omit anything.

3 Kay tingali maminaw sila niini, nga ang tagsatagsa ka tawo mobiya sa iyang daotang mga binuhatan, aron dili ko ipahamtang batok kanila ang katalagman nga akong giplano tungod sa daotan nilang mga binuhatan.

[If you do tell them everything], perhaps they will pay attention, and each one of them will turn away from his evil behavior. Then I will change my mind, and not cause them to experience the disaster that I was planning to cause them to experience because of the evil things that they have done.

4 Busa kinahanglang isulti mo kini kanila, 'Si Yahweh miingon niini: Kung dili kamo maminaw kanako pinaagi sa pagtuman sa akong balaod nga gihatag ko nganha kaninyo—

Say to them, ‘This is what Yahweh says: I sent to you the prophets who serve me, to tell you what you should do. I sent them to you many times, but you have not paid attention to what they said. If you will not pay attention to what I say and do not obey the message that I have given to you, and if you do not pay attention to what the prophets say,

5 kung dili ninyo patalinghogan ang mga pulong sa akong mga sulugoon nga mao ang mga propeta nga kanunay kong gipadala nganha kaninyo—nga wala gayod ninyo paminawa! —

6 busa himoon ko gayod kining puloy-anan sama sa Shilo; himoon kong tinunglo kining siyudara sa panan-aw sa tanang mga kanasoran sa kalibotan.'''

I will destroy this temple like I destroyed Shiloh, [the place where the Sacred Tent was put]. And I will cause Jerusalem to be a place whose name [people in] every nation on the earth will say when they curse someone.’”

7 Nakadungog sa pagpahibalo ni Jeremias ang mga pari, ang mga propeta, ug ang tanang katawhan didto sa puloy-anan ni Yahweh.

[When I did what Yahweh told me to do, ] the priests, the [false] prophets, and many [other] people listened to me as I told them that message outside the temple.

8 Sa nahuman na si Jeremias sa pagsulti sa tanang gisugo kaniya ni Yahweh gidakop siya sa tanang katawhan, sa mga pari, sa mga propeta, ug miingon, “Angay ka gayod nga patyon!

But as soon as I finished telling them everything that Yahweh had commanded me to say, they all seized me and said, “You must be executed!

9 Nganong nagpropesiya ka man sa ngalan ni Yahweh ug miingon nga kining puloy-anan mahisama sa Shilo ug ang kining siyudara maawaaw nga wala nay magpuyo?” Busa gipalibotan sa tanang katawhan si Jeremias didto sa puloy-anan ni Yahweh.

Why [RHQ] are you prophesying that this temple will be [destroyed] like Shiloh [was destroyed]? Why are you saying that this city will be destroyed, and that no one will live here [any more]? (OR, You should not be prophesying) [RHQ]” All the people surrounded me [as I stood] in [front of] the temple.

10 Unya sa pagkadungog sa mga opisyal sa Juda niining mga pulonga miadto dayon sila sa puloy-anan ni Yahweh gikan sa balay sa hari. Nanglingkod sila sa ganghaan sa Bag-ong Ganghaan sa puloy-anan ni Yahweh.

When the officials of Judah heard about all this [that was happening], they rushed from the palace and sat down at the gate of the temple named The New Gate, [to judge my case].

11 Ang mga pari ug ang mga propeta nakigsulti sa mga opisyal ug sa tanang katawhan. Miingon sila, “Angayan gayod patyon kining tawhana, kay nagpropesiya man siya batok niining nasora, sumala gayod sa inyong nang dungog!”

The priests and the [false] told the officials and the other people [who were there], “This man should be executed, because he has prophesied that this city [will be destroyed], and you yourselves [MTY] have heard him say that!”

12 Busa misulti si Jeremias ngadto sa tanang mga opisyal ug sa tanang katawhan, “Gipadala ako ni Yahweh aron managna batok niining puloy-anan ug niining siyudara, sa pagsulti sa tanang mga pulong nga inyong nadungog mismo.

Then I replied to the officials and the other people, saying, “Yahweh sent me to prophesy all the things that you heard me say about [what will happen to] this temple and this city.

13 Busa karon, bag-oha ang inyong mga pamaagi ug ang inyong pagkinabuhi, ug patalinghogi ang tingog ni Yahweh nga inyong Dios aron dili na niya ipadayon ang pagpahamtang kaninyo sa katalagman nga iyang gisulti batok kaninyo.

But if you change your behavior and stop sinning, and [start to] obey Yahweh our God, he will change his mind, and not cause you to experience the disasters that he said that he would send.

14 Tan-awa—ako mismo anaa sa inyong mga kamot! Buhata nganhi kanako kung unsa ang maayo ug matarong sa inyong panan-aw.

As for me, I am not able to free myself from your grasp. [So you can] do to me whatever you want to do.

15 Apan angay ninyong masayran nga kung patyon ninyo ako, nan sad-an kamo, kining siyudara ug ang mga lumolupyo niini sa dugo sa tawong walay sala, tungod kay matuod gayod nga gipadala ako ni Yahweh nganha kaninyo aron sa pagmantala sa tanang pulong sa inyong mga igdulongog.”

[But you need to] know that if you kill me, you will be killing a man [SYN] who (is innocent/has not done anything wrong). And you and everyone else in this city will be guilty, because the truth is that it was Yahweh who sent me to speak every word that you have heard me say.”

16 Unya miingon ang mga opisyal, ug ang tanang katawhan ngadto sa mga pari ug sa mga propeta, “Dili angay nga mamatay kining tawhana, tungod kay gimantala man niya ang mga butang nganhi kanato pinaagi sa ngalan ni Yahweh nga atong Dios.”

Then the officials and the other people said to the priests and the [false] prophets, “This man does not deserve to be executed, because he has spoken to us the message [MTY] that Yahweh gave him!”

17 Unya mitindog ang pipila sa mga kadagkoan sa kayutaan ug nakigsulti sa tibuok panagtigom sa katawhan.

Then some of the elders stood up and spoke to all the people who were gathered [there].

18 Miingon sila, “Si Mika nga taga-Moreset nagppropesiya sa panahon sa paghari ni Hezekia sa Juda. Nakigsulti siya sa tanang katawhan sa Juda ug miingon, 'Nagsulti niini si Yahweh ang labawng makagagahom: Ang Zion pagadarohon sama sa usa ka uma, ang Jerusalem mahimong tinapok sa mga tinumpag, ug ang bungtod nga nahimutangan sa templo mahimong kalasangan.'

They said, “([Remember/Think about) what] Micah, [the prophet] from Moresheth [town], prophesied during the years that Hezekiah was the King of Judah. He told the people of Judah this: ‘This is what the Commander of the armies of angels says: [Some day] Zion [Hill] will be plowed like fields [are plowed]; Jerusalem will become a heap of ruins. There will be a large clump/group of trees on top of the hill where the temple is now.’

19 Gipatay ba siya ni Hezekia nga hari sa Juda ug sa tanang taga-Juda? Dili ba nahadlok man siya kang Yahweh ug nagpakiluoy siya atubangan ni Yahweh aron dili niya ipadayon ang katalagman nga iyang gimantala kanila? Busa buhaton ba nato ang mas labaw pa kadaotan batok sa atong kaugalingong kinabuhi?”

But did [RHQ] King Hezekiah or anyone else in Judah kill Micah [for saying that]? No! Instead, Hezekiah revered Yahweh, and pleaded that he would (act mercifully toward/not destroy) them. So, Yahweh changed his mind about causing them to experience the terrible disaster that he said he would send. And now [if we kill Jeremiah], we are going to cause ourselves to experience a terrible disaster!”

20 Sa wala madugay adunay laing tawo na usab ang nagpropesiya pinaagi sa ngalan ni Yahweh—si Uria ang anak nga lalaki ni Shemaya nga taga-Kiriat Jearim—nagpropesiya usab siya batok niining siyudara ug niining yutaa, nga uyon sa mga pulong ni Jeremias.

[At that time, ] the son of Shemaiah from Kiriath-Jearim [city] was also prophesying/proclaiming messages [MTY] from Yahweh. He was predicting that the city and the rest of the land would experience the same disasters that I was predicting.

21 Apan sa pagkadungog ni Haring Jehoyakim ug sa tanan niyang kasundalohan ug sa mga opisyal ang iyang pulong, gipapatay siya sa hari, apan nakabalita si Uria ug nahadlok siya, busa mikalagiw siya ug miadto sa Ehipto.

When King Jehoiakim and his army officers and officials heard what Uriah was saying, the king sent someone to kill Uriah. But Uriah heard about it, and became [very] afraid, and he (escaped/ran away) to Egypt.

22 Unya nagpadala si Haring Jehoyakim ug mga tawo nga moadto sa Ehipto—si Elnatan ang anak nga lalaki ni Acbor ug mga tawo aron moadto sa Ehipto sa pagdakop kang Uria.

Then King Jehoiakim sent Elnathan the son of Acbor along with several other men to Egypt.

23 Gidakop nila si Uria sa Ehipto ug gidala ngadto kang Haring Jehoyakim. Unya gipapatay siya ni Jehoyakim pinaagi sa espada ug gipalubong ang iyang patay nga lawas sa lubnganan sa mga yano nga tawo.

They captured Uriah and took him [back to Jerusalem] to King Jehoiakim. The king then [had a soldier] kill Uriah with a sword. Then they buried his corpse in a place where poor people are buried.

24 Apan ang kaluoy ni Ahikam ang anak nga lalaki Shafan anaa kang Jeremias, busa wala siya gitugyan ngadto sa katawhan aron pagapatyon.

However, Ahikam the son of Shaphan defended me, and persuaded the officials not to allow [MTY] the mob to murder me.
