Jeremias 16

1 Unya miabot ang pulong ni Yahweh kanako, nga nag-ingon,

Yahweh gave me another message. [He said to me],

2 “Ayaw pagkuha ug asawa alang sa imong kaugalingon, ug ayaw pagbaton ug anak nga mga lalaki o anak nga mga babaye alang sa imong kaugalingon niining dapita.

“Do not get married and have children in this land,

3 Tungod kay miingon si Yahweh niini ngadto sa mga anak nga lalaki ug anak nga mga babaye nga natawo niining dapita, ngadto sa mga inahan nga nagsapupo kanila, ug ngadto sa mga amahan nga maoy hinungdan sa ilang pagkatawo niining yutaa,

because this is what [I], Yahweh, say about the children who are born in this city, and about their mothers and fathers:

4 'Mangamatay sila sa makamatay nga balatian. Dili na sila magbangotan o malubong. Mahisama sila sa hugaw sa hayop nga anaa sa yuta. Tungod kay matapos sila pinaagi sa espada ug kagutom, ug ang ilang mga patayng lawas mahimong pagkaon sa mga langgam sa kawanangan ug sa mga mananap sa yuta.'

[Many of] them will die from terrible diseases. And no one will mourn for them. No one will even bury their corpses; the corpses will lie on the ground, [scattered] like manure. [Others] will die in wars or from hunger, and [then] their corpses will become food for vultures and wild animals.”

5 Kay ang pulong ni Yahweh miabot kanako, nga nag-ingon, 'Ayaw pagsulod sa balay diin adunay pagbangotan. Ayaw pag—adto aron sa pagsubo o sa pagpakitag simpatiya alang kanila, tungod kay gikuha ko ang akong kalinaw gikan niining mga tawhana, ang akong gugmang walay paglubad ug kaluoy—mao kini ang giingon ni Yahweh.

This is [also] what Yahweh said to me: “Do not go to funerals to mourn or to show [those whose relatives have died] that you feel sorry for them, because I have stopped protecting them, and I have caused that things will not go well for them. I have stopped faithfully loving them and acting mercifully toward them.

6 Managsama nga mangamatay niining yutaa ang inila ug dili inila. Dili sila malubong, ug walay magbangotan alang kanila o ni adunay magsamad sa ilang mga kaugalingon o magpaupaw alang kanila.

[Very many people] will die in this land, [including] those who are important and those who are not important. And no one will mourn for them, or [even] bury [their corpses]. No one will cut himself or shave his head [to show that he is very sad].

7 Kinahanglan nga walay bisan usa nga mohatag ug pagkaon sa mga nagbangotan aron sa paghupay kanila tungod sa kamatay, ug kinahanglan nga walay mohatag ug makahupay nga kupa sa iyang amahan o sa iyang inahan aron sa paghupay kanila.

No one will bring food to comfort those who are mourning, not even if it is their father or their mother [who has died]. No one will give them a cup [of wine] to cheer them up.

8 Kinahanglan nga dili ka moadto sa panimalay nga nagkumbira aron lamang sa pagkaon ug pag-inom'.

And do not go into the houses where people are feasting. Do not eat or drink anything with them.

9 Tungod kay si Yahweh nga labawng makagagahom, ang Dios sa Israel, miingon niini, 'Tan-awa, ug makita ninyo, sa inyong mga adlaw ug niining dapita, hapit ko na butangan ug utlanan ang tingog sa kalipay ug ang tingog sa kasadya, ang tingog sa pamanhonon ug ang tingog sa pangasaw-onon.'

[I want you to do this] because this is what [I], the Commander of the armies of angels, say: ‘While you are still alive and seeing it happen, I will cause there to be no more singing and laughing in this land. There will be no more joyful voices of bridegrooms and brides.’

10 Unya mahitabo nga imong isugilon kining mga pulonga ngadto sa katawhan, ug moingon sila kanimo, 'Nganong gipahamtang man ni Yahweh batok kanamo kining dakong kadaot? Unsa man ang nahimo namo nga kalapasan nga nakasala man kami kang Yahweh nga among Dios?'

When you tell these things to the people, they will ask, ‘Why has Yahweh declared that these terrible things will happen to us? What have we done [for which we deserve to be punished like this]? What sin have we committed against Yahweh our God?’

11 Busa ingna sila, 'Tungod kay gibiyaan ako sa inyong mga katigulangan—mao kini ang giingon ni Yahweh—ug miadto sila sa ubang mga dios ug misimba ug miyukbo kanila. Gibiyaan nila ako ug wala nagtuman sa akong balaod.

Then this is what you must tell them [that I am replying to them]: ‘It is because your ancestors turned away from me, Yahweh. They worshiped other gods and served them. They abandoned me and did not obey my commands.

12 Apan kamo mismo nagdala ug hilabihang pagkadaotan kaysa sa inyong mga katigulangan, kay tan-awa, ang matag tawo naglakaw sa pagkamasinupakon sa daotan niyang kasingkasing; walay bisan usa nga naminaw kanako.

But you [who are living now] have done more wicked things than your ancestors did! Each of you stubbornly does the evil things that he desires and refuses to pay attention to what I say.

13 Busa ilabay ko kamo gikan niining yutaa ngadto sa yuta nga wala ninyo hisayri, bisan kamo ni ang inyong mga katigulangan, ug magsimba kamo sa ubang mga dios didto adlaw ug gabii, tungod kay dili ko kamo hatagan ug bisan unsang pabor.'

So, I will throw you out of this land, and I will send you to a land that you and your ancestors have never known about. There you will worship other gods day and night. And I will not act mercifully toward you.’

14 Busa, tan-awa, moabot ang mga adlaw—mao kini ang giingon ni Yahweh—sa dihang dili na kini igasulti, 'Ingon nga buhi si Yahweh, siya nga nagdala sa katawhan sa Israel gikan sa yuta sa Ehipto.'

But there will be a time when people [who are solemnly promising to do something] will no longer say, ‘[I will do this], [just as surely] as Yahweh lives—the one who brought the Israeli people here from Egypt.’

15 apan, 'Ingon nga buhi si Yahweh, ang nagdala sa katawhan sa Israel gikan sa yuta sa amihanan ug gikan sa mga yuta diin niya sila gipatibulaag.' Tungod kay dalhon ko sila pagbalik sa yuta nga akong gihatag sa ilang mga katigulangan.

Instead, they will say ‘[I will do this, just as surely] as Yahweh lives—the one who brought [us] Israeli people back to our own land, from the lands to the north and from all the other lands to which he had (exiled us/forced us to go).’ [They will be able to say that] because [some day] I will bring your descendants back to this land that I gave to your ancestors.

16 Tan-awa! magpadala ako ug daghang mangingisda-mao kini ang giingon ni Yahweh-aron nga ilahang panakpon ang katawhan. Human niini magpadala ako ug daghang mangangayam aron nga pangayamon silang tanan sa kabukiran ug kabungtoran, ug diha sa mga bangag sa dagkong mga bato.

But now I am summoning [your enemies who will seize the people of Judah like] [MET] fishermen [catch fish]. I am summoning those who will search for them on every mountain and hill, and in every cave, [like] [MET] hunters [search for animals to kill].

17 Tungod kay nagtan-aw ako sa tanan nilang mga pamaagi; dili sila makatago gikan kanako. Dili matago ang ilang mga sala gikan sa akong mga mata.

I am watching them carefully. I see every sin [that they commit]. They will not [be able to] hide from me [MTY].

18 Panimaslan ko sila ug doble sa ilang pagkadaotan ug sa ilang paghugaw sa akong yuta pinaagi sa mga kinulit nga larawan, ug sa paglukop sa akong panulondon sa ilang mga hugaw nga mga rebulto.”

Because of all the wicked things that they have done [DOU], I will punish them twice as much [as I would punish other people. I will do that] because they have caused my land to become unacceptable to me because of their [worshiping] lifeless statues of detestable gods, and [also because they] have done many other evil things throughout my land.”

19 Yahweh, ikaw mao ang akong kota ug ang akong dalangpanan, ang dapit nga akong kaduolan panahon sa mga kagul-anan. Ang mga kanasoran moduol kanimo gikan sa mga kinatumyan sa kalibotan ug moingon, 'Tinuod nga ang among katigulangan nagpanunod ug bakak. Wala silay dala; wala gayoy ginansiya diha kanila.

[Then I prayed, saying], “Yahweh, you are the one who strengthens me and protects me [MET]; you are the one to whom I go when I have [troubles]. [Some day people from] nations all over the world will come to you and say, ‘Our ancestors left/gave us only something that was false; [they worshiped idols] that are completely worthless [DOU].

20 Makahimo ba ug mga diosdios ang katawhan alang sa ilang kaugalingon? Apan dili sila mga dios.'

No one can [RHQ] make their own gods; the gods that they make are [only idols]; they are not real gods.’”

21 Busa tan-awa! Niini nga panahon pasayron ko sila, ipaila ko kanila ang akong kamot ug ang akong gahom, aron nga masayran nila nga ang akong ngalan mao si Yahweh.

[Then Yahweh said], “Now I will show my power to [the people of Judah]; I will show them that I am truly very powerful [DOU]. Then, finally, they will know that I, Yahweh, [am the true God].”
