Esdras 5
1 Unya si Hageo nga propeta ug si Zecarias ang anak nga lalaki ni Idonga nga propeta nanagna sa ngalan sa Dios sa Israel ngadto sa mga Judio sa Juda ug sa Jerusalem.
The prophets Haggai and Zechariah, son of Iddo, gave messages to the Jews in Judah and Jerusalem from the God of Israel, their ruler.
2 Si Sorobabel ang anak nga lalaki ni Salatiel ug Josue ang anak nga lalaki ni Josadak mibangon ug misugod sa pagtukod sa balay sa Dios sa Jerusalem uban sa mga propeta nga nagdasig kanila.
Then Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua, son of Jozadak, decided to start work on rebuilding God's Temple in Jerusalem. The prophets of God encouraged them and helped them.
3 Unya si Tatenai ang gobernador sa probinsya sa unahan sa Suba, si Setar Bosenai, ug ang ilang mga kaubanan miduol ug miingon kanila, “Kinsa man ang naghatag kaninyo ug kasugoan aron tokuron kining balay ug humanon kining mga pader?”
Almost immediately Tattenai, the governor of the province west of the Euphrates, Shethar-bozenai, and their fellow officials arrived and asked, “Who gave you permission to rebuild this Temple and finish it?”
4 Miingon usab sila, “Kinsa man ang mga ngalan sa katawhan nga nagtukod niining maong balay?”
Then they asked, “What are the names of the men who are working on this building?”
5 Apan ang mata sa Dios anaa sa mga pangulo sa Judio ug ang ilang mga kaaway wala nakapaundang kanila. Naghulat sila sa sulat nga ipadala ngadto sa hari ug alang sa kasugoan nga ibalik ngadto kanila mahitungod niini.
But their God was watching over the Jewish leaders, so that they were not prevented from working until a report could be sent to Darius and a written reply with instructions was received.
6 Mao kini ang sulat ni Tatenai, ni Setar Bosenai, ug sa ilang mga kaubanan nga mga opisyal ngadto kang Dario ang hari.
The following is a copy of the letter that Tattenai, the governor of the province west of the Euphrates, Shethar-bozenai, and their fellow officials, officials of the province, sent to King Darius.
7 Nagpadala sila ug balita, gisulat kini ngadto kang Haring Dario, “Ang tanang kalinaw maanaa kaninyo.
The report they sent him read went like this: “To King Darius: Greetings.
8 Tugoti nga masayod ang hari nga mangadto kita sa Juda ngadto sa balay sa gamhanang Dios. Pagatukoron kini gamit ang dagkong mga bato ug mga kahoy nga troso nga ibutang sa mga pader. Mahuman kining buluhaton sa hingpit ug maayo nga pagabuhaton sa ilang mga kamot.
We wish to inform Your Majesty that we went to the province of Judah, to the Temple of the great God. It is being built with large stones, with timber beams being placed on the walls. This work is being done properly and is progressing well.
9 Nangutana kami sa mga pangulo, 'Kinsa man ang naghatag kaninyo kasugoan aron tukoron kining balay ug kining mga pader?'
We questioned the leaders, asking them, ‘Who gave you permission to rebuild this Temple and finish it?’
10 Gipangutana usab namo ang ilang mga ngalan aron imong masayran ang ngalan sa matag tawo nga nangulo kanila.
We also asked for their names, so that we could write them down and let you know the names of their leaders.
11 Mitubag sila ug miingon, 'Mga sulugoon kami sa Dios nga anaa sa langit ug sa yuta, ug tukoron namo pag-usab kining balay nga gitukod sa milabay nga daghang katuigan sa dihang gitukod kini ug gihuman sa bantogan nga hari sa Israel.
This is the answer they gave us. ‘We are servants of the God of heaven and earth. We are rebuilding the Temple built and completed many years ago by a great king of Israel.
12 Bisan pa niana, sa dihang gipalagot sa among mga katigulangan ang Dios sa langit, gitugyan niya sila ngadto sa mga kamot ni Nabucodonosor ang hari sa Babilonia, nga migun-ob niining balaya ug nagkuha sa katawhan sa pagkabihag didto sa Babilonia.
But our forefathers made the God of heaven angry, so he handed them over to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this Temple and deported the people to Babylon.
13 Bisan pa, sa unang tuig sa paghari ni Ciro sa Babilonia, naghatag si Ciro ug kasugoan nga tukoron pag-usab ang balay sa Dios.
However, Cyrus, king of Babylon, in the first year of his reign, issued a decree to rebuild this Temple of God.
14 Giuli usab ni Haring Ciro ang mga butang nga bulawan ug plata ngadto sa balay sa Dios nga gidala ni Nabucodonosor nga gikan sa templo sa Jerusalem nga gidala sa templo sa Babilonia. Giuli niya kini ngadto kang Sesbasar, nga gihimo niyang gobernador.
He even gave back the gold and silver items belonging to God's Temple, which Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the Temple in Jerusalem and placed in his temple in Babylon. King Cyrus gave them to a man named Sheshbazzar, whom he had appointed governor,
15 Miingon siya kaniya, “Dad-a kining mga butanga. Lakaw ug ibutang kini sa templo sa Jerusalem. Tugoti nga pagatukoron pag-usab didto ang balay sa Dios.”
telling him, Take these items and place them in the Temple in Jerusalem. Rebuild God's Temple on its original site.
16 Unya kini si Sesbasar miabot ug nagpahiluna sa pundasyon alang sa balay sa Dios sa Jerusalem; ug kini natukod, apan wala pa kini nahingpit.'
So Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundation of God's Temple in Jerusalem. It has been under construction since then, but hasn't yet been completed.’
17 Karon kung makapahimuot kini sa hari, tugoti nga kini masusi ngadto sa balay nga tipiganan sa Babilonia kung ang paghukom gikan kang Haring Ciro sa pagtukod niining balay sa Dios sa Jerusalem. Unya tugoti ang hari magpadala sa iyang hukom nganhi kanato.”
So, if Your Majesty wishes, authorize a search to be made of the royal archives in Babylon to discover if there is a record that King Cyrus issued a decree to rebuild God's Temple in Jerusalem. Then please let us know Your Majesty's decision in this matter.”
