Taga Efeso 4
1 Busa, ingon nga pinireso alang sa Ginoo, giawhag ko kamo nga magkinabuhi nga takos sa pagtawag sa Dios kaninyo,
I beg you, then – I who am a prisoner in the Master’s cause – to live lives worthy of the call that you have received;
2 nga adunay dakong pagpaubos ug kaligdong ug pasensiya, nga gadawat sa usa'g usa sa gugma.
always humble and gentle, patient, bearing lovingly with one another,
3 Buhata ninyo ang tanan aron maipadayon ang panaghiusa gikan sa Espiritu pinaagi sa kalinaw nga nagbugkos kaninyo.
and striving to maintain in the bond of peace the unity given by the Spirit.
4 Adunay usa ka lawas, ug usa ka Espiritu, sama usab nga gitawag kamo sa usa ka sigurado nga pagdahum sa inyong pagkatawag;
There is but one body and one Spirit, just as there was but one hope set before you when you received your call.
5 ug adunay usa ka Ginoo, usa ka pagtuo, usa ka bautismo,
There is but one Lord, one faith, one baptism.
6 usa ka Dios ug Amahan sa tanan, nga labaw sa tanan ug pinaagi sa tanan ug anaa sa tanan.
There is but one God and Father of all – the God who is over all, pervades all, and is in all.
7 Ang matag usa kanato gihatagan ug gasa sumala sa sukod sa gasa ni Cristo.
Everyone of us, however, has been entrusted with some charge, each in accordance with the extent of the gift of the Christ.
8 Sama sa gisulti sa Kasulatan, Niadtong misaka siya sa kahitas-an, gidala niya ang mga dinakpan ngadto sa pagkabihag, ug gihatagan niya ug gasa ang mga katawhan.
That is why it is said – ‘When he went up on high, he led his captives into captivity. And gave gifts to humanity.’
9 Unsa may gipasabot aning pamahayag nga “Misaka siya,” dili ba nga minaog sad siya paingon sa kinailawman sa kalibutan?
Now surely this ‘going up’ must imply that he had already gone down into the world beneath.
10 Siya nga minaog mao sad siya ang misaka sa tanang kalangitan, aron pun-on niya ang tanan nga butang.
He who went down is the same as he who went up – up beyond the highest heaven, so that he might fill all things with his presence.
11 Naghatag si Cristo ug mga gasa sama niini: mga apostoles, mga propeta, mga ebanghelista, mga pastor ug mga manunudlo,
And he it is who gave to the church apostles, prophets, missionaries, pastors, and teachers,
12 aron sa pagsangkap niadtong mga gigahin alang sa Dios aron mag-alagad sila, aron mapalig-on ang lawas ni Cristo,
to fit his people for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of the Christ.
13 hangtod maabot nato ang panaghiusa sa pagtuo ug kasayuran sa Anak sa Dios, ug maabot ang hingpit nga kahamtong isip nga mga nitubo sa tibuok nga sukdanan ni Cristo.
And this will continue, until we all attain to that unity which is given by faith and by a fuller knowledge of the Son of God; until we reach maturity – the full standard of the perfection of the Christ.
14 Ingon niini kini aron dili na kita murag mga bata nga mabandabanda ug madala sa bisan unsang klase sa pagtudlo pinaagi sa pagpanglimbong sa mga tawo gamit ang sayop nga pangilad.
Then we will no longer be like infants, tossed backward and forward, blown about by every breath of human teaching and by people’s trickery and craftiness;
15 Hinuon, isulti nato ang kamatuoran nga adunay gugma ug motubo kita sa tanang paagi ngadto kaniya, nga mao ang ulo, nga si Cristo,
but holding the truth in a spirit of love, we will grow into complete union with him who is our head – Christ himself.
16 nga pinaagi kaniya sama kita nga tingob nga mahaom sa usa ka lawas sa mga tumutuo ug tingob nga gihawiran sa matag lutahan, nga nagtinabangay sumala sa paglihok sa sukdanan sa matag bahin sa pagtubo sa lawas, aron mapalig-on ang matag usa sa gugma.
For from him the whole body, closely joined and knit together by the contact of every part with the source of its life, derives its power to grow, in proportion to the vigour of each individual part; and so is being built up in a spirit of love.
17 Busa gisulti nako kini, ug giawhag kamo nako diha sa Ginoo, nga dili na kamo magkinabuhi sama sa mga Gentil, nga walay kapuslanan ang ilang mga hunahuna,
This, then, as one in union with the Lord, I implore: Do not continue to live such purposeless lives as the Gentiles live,
18 kay ngitngit ang ilang panan-aw, nga nabulag sa kinabuhi diha sa Dios tungod sa ilang pagka-ignorante, ug sa kagahi sa ilang kasingkasing.
with their powers of discernment darkened, cut off from the life of God, owing to the ignorance that prevails among them and to the hardness of their hearts.
19 Gihatag na nila ang ilang kaugalingon ngadto sa kauwag diha sa mga hugaw nga binuhatan, sa matag klase nga kahakog.
Lost to all sense of shame, they have abandoned themselves to licentiousness, in order to practice every kind of impurity without restraint.
20 Apan dili ingon niana ang inyong nakat-unan mahitungod kang Cristo.
But far different is the lesson you learned from the Christ – if, that is, you really listened to him,
21 Kung nakadungog na kamo mahitungod kaniya ug natudluan na mahitungod kaniya nga mao kini ang kamatuoran mahitungod kang Jesus,
and through union with him were taught the truth, as it is to be found in Jesus.
22 kinahanglan ninyo isalikway ang daang tawo—kadtong mitukma sa inyong daang pamatasan nga gidaot pinaagi sa mga kaibog nga makalinlang,
For you learned with regard to your former way of living that you must cast off your old nature, which, yielding to deluding passions, grows corrupt;
23 aron mabag-o kamo sa espiritu sa inyong hunahuna,
that the spirit of your minds must be constantly renewed;
24 ug aron magkinabuhi kamo nga bag-o nga tawo, nga gihimo sa Dios sa pagkamatarong ug pagkabalaan diha sa kamatuoran.
and that you must clothe yourselves in that new nature which was created to resemble God, with the righteousness and holiness springing from the truth.
25 Busa isalikway ang bakak. “Isulti ang kamatuoran, ang kada usa sa iyang silingan,” tungod kay kita membro sa usa'g usa.
Since, therefore, you have cast off what is false, you must every one of you speak the truth to your neighbors. For we are united to one another like the parts of a body.
26 “Masuko kamo, apan dili magpakasala.” Ayaw tuguti nga mosalop ang adlaw nga nasuko pa kamo
Be angry, yet do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your anger;
27 ug ayaw ninyo hatagi ug higayon ang demonyo.
and give no opportunity to the devil.
28 Ang nangawat dili na gyud mangawat kondili kinahanglan maningkamot siya sa pagtrabaho nga mapuslanon nga gagamit sa iyang mga kamot, aron aduna siyay ikahatag sa tawong nanginahanglan.
Let the person who steals steal no longer, but rather they should toil with their hands at honest work, so that they may have something to share with anyone in need.
29 Kinahanglan walay sinultihan nga makadaot ang mogawas sa inyong baba, apan hinuon mga pulong nga mapuslanon sa pagdasig nga magpalig-on sa uban sumala sa ilang panginahanglan, aron makahatag ug grasya kanila nga namati.
Never let any foul word pass your lips, but only such good words as the occasion demands, so that they may be a help to those who hear them.
30 Ug ayaw pagbuhat nga makaguol sa Balaang Espiritu sa Dios, nga pinaagi kaniya giselyohan kamo alang sa adlaw sa kaluwasan.
And do not grieve God’s Holy Spirit; for it was through that Spirit that God sealed you as his, against the day of redemption.
31 Tangtanga diha kaninyo ang tanang kaligutgot ug kapungot ug kasuko, ug sininggitay ug pag-insulto, uban ang tanan nga dautan;
Let all bitterness, passion, anger, brawling, and abusive language be banished from among you, as well as all malice.
32 ug magmaayohon kamo sa usa'g usa, magmaluluy-on, magpinasayloay sa usa'g usa sama sa walay pugong nga pagpasaylo kaninyo sa Dios diha kang Cristo.
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, ready to forgive one another, just as God, in Christ, forgave you.
