Deuteronomio 4

1 Karon, Israel, paminawa ang mga balaod ug mga sugo nga akong itudlo kaninyo, aron buhaton kini; aron mabuhi kamo ug makasulod ug makapanag-iya sa yuta nga ihatag ni Yahweh kaninyo, ang Dios sa inyong mga amahan.

Now, therefore, O Israel, hearken thou unto the statutes, and unto the regulations, which, I, am teaching you, to do [them], —to the end ye may live and enter and possess the land, which, Yahweh, the God of your fathers, is giving unto you.

2 Dili ninyo dungagan ang mga pulong nga akong gisugo kaninyo, ni papason ninyo kini, aron nga inyong tipigan ang mga sugo ni Yahweh nga inyong Dios nga akong isugo kaninyo.

Ye shall not add unto the word which, I, am commanding you, neither shall ye take away therefrom, —that ye may keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, which, I, am commanding you.

3 Nakita sa inyong mga mata kung unsa ang gibuhat ni Yahweh tungod kang Baal Peor; kay alang sa tanang tawo nga misunod kang Baal sa Peor, gilaglag sila ni Yahweh sa inyong taliwala.

Yours are the eyes, that have seen what Yahweh did in Baal-peor, for every man who went after Baal-peor, did Yahweh thy God destroy out of thy midst;

4 Apan kamo nga nagpabilin kang Yahweh nga inyong Dios buhi karong adlawa, matag usa kaninyo.

but, ye who kept on cleaving unto Yahweh your God, alive, are ye all to-day.

5 Tan-awa, gitudloan ko kamo sa mga balaod ug mga sugo, sumala sa gisugo kanako ni Yahweh nga akong Dios, nga inyo usab nga pagabuhaton taliwala sa yuta nga inyong adtoan aron panag-iyahon.

See! I have taught you statutes, and regulations, as Yahweh my God commanded me, —that ye should do so, in the midst of the land whereinto ye are entering to possess it.

6 Busa tipigi ug buhata kini; kay mao kini ang inyong kaalam ug inyong pagpanabot diha sa panan-aw sa mga tawo nga makadungog niining mga balaod ug moingon, 'Sigurado gayod nga kining dakong nasod maalamon ug masinabtonon nga mga katawhan.'

Therefore shall ye observe, and do [them], for that, will be your wisdom, and discernment, in the eyes of the peoples, —who will hear all these statutes, and will say—Nevertheless, a people wise and discerning, is this great nation.

7 Unsa ba ang anaa sa ubang dakong nasod nga adunay dios nga duol kanila, sama kang Yahweh nga atong Dios sa dihang mosangpit kita kaniya?

For what great nation is there which hath gods nigh unto it, —like Yahweh our God, whensoever we have cried out unto him.

8 Kay unsa bay anaa niadtong bantogang nasod nga may mga balaod ug kasugoan nga matarong sama sa balaod nga akong giandam alang kaninyo karong adlawa?

Or what great nation which hath righteous statutes and regulations, like all this law, which, I, am setting before you to-day?

9 Pagmatngon lamang kamo ug bantayi pag-ayo ang inyong kaugalingon, aron nga dili ninyo makalimtan ang mga butang nga nakita sa inyong mga mata, aron nga dili kini mohawa sa inyong kasingkasing sa tanang mga adlaw sa inyong kinabuhi. Hinuon, ipahibalo kini ngadto sa inyong mga anak ug sa mga anak sa inyong mga anak.

Only take thou heed to thyself and keep thy soul diligently, so that thou forget not the things which thine own eyes have seen, and so that they go not out of thy heart, all the days of thy life, —but thou shalt make them known unto thy sons and unto thy sons’ sons: —

10 Sa adlaw nga kamo mibarog sa atubangan ni Yahweh nga inyong Dios didto sa Horeb, sa dihang miingon si Yahweh kanako, 'Tapoka ang mga tawo nganhi kanako, ug padunggon ko sila sa akong mga pulong, aron nga makatuon sila sa pagkahadlok kanako sa tanang adlaw sa ilang pagkinabuhi sa kalibotan, ug aron nga ilang matudloan ang ilang mga anak.'

What day thou didst stand before Yahweh thy God, in Horeb, when Yahweh said unto me, Gather unto me the people, that I may let them hear my words, —which they must learn that they may revere me all the days which they are living upon the soil, their children also, must they teach.

11 Miduol kamo ug mitindog ngadto sa tiilan sa bukid. Midilaab sa kalayo ang bukid ngadto sa kasingkasing sa langit, uban ang kangitngit, panganod, ug bagang kangitngit.

So ye drew near and stood, under the mountain. Now, the mountain, was burning with fire, up to the midst of the heavens, —darkness, cloud, and thick gloom.

12 Nakigsulti si Yahweh kaninyo tunga-tunga sa kalayo; nadungog ninyo ang tingog uban ang mga pulong niini, apan wala kamoy nakita nga hulagway; nakadungog lamang kamo og tingog.

Then spake Yahweh unto you out of the midst of the fire, —a voice of words, ye were hearing, no form, were ye seeing, there was only a voice.

13 Gisulti niya kaninyo ang iyang kasabotan nga iyang gisugo kaninyo nga pagabuhaton, ang Napulo ka mga Sugo. Gisulat niya kini sa duha ka papan nga bato.

Then declared he unto you his covenant which he commanded you to do, the ten words, —and wrote them upon two tables of stone.

14 Gisugo ako ni Yahweh nianang tungora sa pagtudlo kaninyo sa mga balaod ug mga kasugoan, aron nga inyo kining buhaton ngadto sa yuta nga inyong adtoan aron panag-iyahon.

And unto me, gave Yahweh command, at that time, to teach you statutes and regulations, —that ye should do them, in the land whereinto ye are passing over to possess it.

15 Busa bantayi ninyo pag-ayo ang inyong mga kaugalingon— tungod kay wala kamoy nakita nga matang sa hulagway sa adlaw nga nakigsulti si Yahweh kaninyo didto sa Horeb gawas taliwala sa kalayo—

Ye must take diligent heed, therefore unto your own souls, for ye saw no manner of form, on the day Yahweh spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire;

16 aron dili ninyo hugawan ang inyong mga kaugalingon ug maghimog kinulit nga larawan sa hulagway sa bisan unsang binuhat, sa hulagway sa lalaki o babaye nga tawo,

lest ye should break faith, and make you an image, a form of any likeness, —a model of male or female;

17 o sa bisan unsang hulagway sa mga mananap sa yuta, o sa hulagway sa bisan unsang langgam nga manglupad sa kalangitan,

a model of any beast that is in the earth, —a model of any winged bird, that flieth in the heavens;

18 o sa hulagway sa bisan unsang gakamang sa yuta, o sa hulagway sa bisan unsang isda nga anaa sa tubig ilalom sa yuta.

a model of any thing that creepeth on the ground, —a model of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth;

19 Ayaw itutok ang inyong mga mata sa kalangitan ug motan-aw sa adlaw, sa bulan, o sa kabituonan—sa tanang binuhat sa kalangitan—nga mohatod ngadto sa pagsimba ug sa paghigugma kanila—niadtong mga butang nga gihatag ni Yahweh nga inyong Dios alang sa tanang tawo ilalom sa tibuok kawanangan.

or lest thou shouldest lift up thine eyes towards the heavens and see the sun and the moon, and the stars—all the host of the heavens, and shouldest be seduced, and shouldest bow thyself down to them and he led to serve them, —the which Yahweh thy God hath assigned unto all the peoples under all the heavens;

20 Apan gikuha kamo ni Yahweh ug gidala pagawas gikan sa nagbagang hudno, gawas sa Ehipto, aron mahimong iyahang katawhan nga iyang panulondon, ingon nga kamo karong adlawa.

whereas you, hath Yahweh taken, and brought you forth out of a smelting-pot of iron, out of Egypt, —that ye might become his own inherited people as at this day.

21 Nasuko si Yahweh kanako tungod kaninyo; nanumpa siya nga dili ako makaadto sa tabok sa Jordan, ug dili gayod ako makaadto sa maayo nga yuta, ang yuta nga ihatag ni Yahweh nga inyong Dios kaninyo ingon nga panulondon.

But, Yahweh shewed himself angry with me, for your sakes, —and sware that I should not pass over the Jordan, and that I should not enter into the good land, which, Yahweh thy God, is giving unto thee as an inheritance;

22 Hinuon, kinahanglan nga mamatay ako niining yutaa; kinahanglan nga dili ako moadto sa tabok sa Jordan; apan kamo makaadto ug panag-iyahon kadto nga maayong yuta.

for, I, am about to die in this land, I am not to pass over the Jordan, —but, ye, are to pass over, and possess this good land.

23 Paminaw gayod kamo pag-ayo, aron dili ninyo malimtan ang kasabotan ni Yahweh nga inyong Dios, nga iyang gibuhat uban kaninyo, ug hinungdan nga makabuhat kamo og kinulit nga mga larawan sa hulagway sa bisan unsa nga ginadili ni Yahweh kaninyo nga inyong Dios nga pagabuhaton.

Take heed to yourselves lest ye forget the covenant of Yahweh your God, which he hath solemnised with you, —and so make for yourselves an image, the form of anything, the which Yahweh thy God hath forbidden thee;

24 Kay si Yahweh nga inyong Dios sama sa kalayo nga molamoy, usa ka abubhoan nga Dios.

seeing that as for Yahweh thy God, a consuming fire, he is, —a jealous GOD.

25 Sa dihang makaliwat kamog mga anak ug mangapo, ug sa dihang anaa na kamo sa yuta sa dugay na nga panahon, ug unya pagahugawan ninyo ang inyong mga kaugalingon ug mohimog kinulit nga larawan sa bisan unsang mga butang, ug magbuhat og daotan sa panan-aw ni Yahweh nga inyong Dios, hinungdan nga masuko siya—

When thou shalt beget sons, and sons’ sons, and become careless in the land and break faith and make an image the form of any thing, and shalt do the thing that is wicked in the eyes of Yahweh thy God provoking him to anger,

26 pagatawgon ko ang langit ug ang yuta aron sa pagpamatuod batok kaninyo karong adlawa nga sa dili madugay kamo mangalaglag gikan sa yuta tabok sa Jordan nga iyong panag-iyahon; dili magdugay ang inyong mga adlaw niadtong dapita, apan mangalaglag gayod kamo sa hingpit.

I take both the heavens and the earth to witness against you to-day, that ye shall, perish, speedily, from off the land which ye are passing over the Jordan to possess, —ye shall not prolong your days thereupon; for, ye shall surely be laid waste;

27 Patibulaagon kamo ni Yahweh taliwala sa katawhan, ug mokunhod ang inyong gidaghanon taliwala sa kanasoran, diin kamo gipalayo ni Yahweh.

and Yahweh will scatter you among the peoples, —and ye shall have left remaining of you men easily counted, among the nations whither Yahweh will drive you;

28 Didto mag-alagad kamo sa ubang mga dios, nga gibuhat sa mga kamot sa tawo, kahoy ug bato, nga dili makakita, makadungog, makakaon, ni makasimhot.

and ye will serve there gods made by the hands of man, —wood or stone, which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell.

29 Apan gikan didto mangita kamo kang Yahweh nga inyong Dios, ug hikaplagan ninyo siya, sa dihang mangita kamo kaniya sa kinasingkasing ug sa bug-os ninyong kalag.

If thou shalt seek from thence, Yahweh thy God, then shalt thou find him, —when thou shalt search after him with all thy heart, and with all thy soul.

30 Sa dihang anaa kamo sa kalisdanan, ug sa dihang kining tanang mga butang modangat kaninyo, niadtong mga adlawa mobalik kamo kang Yahweh nga inyong Dios ug maminaw sa iyang tingog.

In thy distress, when all these things have found thee out—in the afterpart of the days, thou wilt return unto Yahweh thy God, and wilt hearken to his voice.

31 Tungod kay maluloy-on si Yahweh nga inyong Dios; dili niya kamo pakyason ni laglagon, ni kalimtan ang kasabotan sa inyong mga amahan nga iyang gipanumpa kanila.

For, a GOD of compassion, is Yahweh thy God, he will not forsake thee neither will he destroy thee, —nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.

32 Kay pangutan-a karon ang mahitungod sa nanglabay na nga mga adlaw, sa wala pa kamo: sukad gayod sa paghimo sa Dios sa tawo sa kalibotan, ug gikan sa utlanan sa langit ngadto sa uban, pangutan-a kung aduna bay sama niini nga dakong butang, o aduna bay nadungog nila nga sama niini?

For ask, I pray you, of the former days which were before thee, even from the day when God created man upon the earth, yea from one end of the heavens even to the other end of the heavens, —whether aught was ever brought to pass, like this great thing, or was ever heard of like it:

33 Aduna bay katawhan nga nakabati sa tingog sa Dios nga nakigsulti taliwala sa kalayo, sama sa inyong nadungog, ug nabuhi?

Did a people ever hear the voice of a god speaking out of the midst of fire, as, thou, didst hear, and yet live?

34 O misulay ba ang Dios sa pag-adto aron sa pagkuha ug nasod alang sa iyang kaugalingon taliwala sa ubang nasod, pinaagi sa mga pagsulay, mga timaan, ug pinaagi sa mga katingalahan, ug pinaagi sa gubat, ug pinaagi sa kusgang kamot, ug pinaagi sa pagtuy-od sa kamot, ug pinaagi sa dakong mga panghadlok, sama sa tanan nga gibuhat ni Yahweh nga inyong Dios alang kaninyo didto sa Ehipto sa inyong atubangan?

Or did a god ever make trial of entering in to take unto him a nation out of the midst of a nation, by provings, by signs and by wonders and by fighting, and by a firm hand and by a stretched-out arm, and by great terrors, —according to all that Yahweh your God did for you in Egypt, before your eyes?

35 Gipakita gayod kaninyo kining mga butanga, aron nga masayod kamo nga si Yahweh mao ang Dios, ug nga wala na gayoy lain pa gawas kaniya.

Thou, wast allowed to see that thou mightest know, that Yahweh, he is God, there is none other than he alone.

36 Gikan sa langit gipadungog kamo niya sa iyang tingog, aron nga matudloan kamo niya; sa kalibotan gipakita niya kamo sa iyang dakong kalayo; nadungog ninyo ang iyang mga pulong gikan sa taliwala sa kalayo.

Out of the heavens, he let thee hear his voice to instruct thee, —and, upon the earth, he let thee see his great fire, and his own words, thou didst hear out of the midst of the fire.

37 Tungod kay gihigugma niya ang inyong mga amahan, gipili niya ang ilang mga kaliwatan human kanila, ug gidala kamo pagawas sa Ehipto pinaagi sa iyang presensya, uban sa iyang dakong gahom;

And because that he loved thy fathers, therefore chose he his seed after him, —and brought thee forth with his presence with his great might, out of Egypt;

38 aron nga pukanon sa inyong atubangan ang mga nasod nga mas dako ug mas kusgan kaysa kaninyo, aron kamo makasulod, aron ihatag kaninyo ang ilang yuta ingon nga panulondon, ingon karong adlawa.

to dispossess nations, greater and stronger than thou from before thee, —to bring thee in. to give unto thee their land for an inheritance: As at this day.

39 Busa hibaloi karong adlawa, ug ibutang kini sa inyong kasingkasing, nga si Yahweh mao ang Dios sa langit ug sa yuta; wala na gayoy lain pa.

So then thou must consider to-day, and bring it back to thy heart, that, Yahweh, he is God in the heavens above and upon the earth beneath, —there is none other.

40 Tumana ninyo ang iyang mga balaod ug ang iyang mga sugo nga gisugo ko kaninyo karong adlawa, aron mahimong maayo ang inyong kahimtang ug sa inyong mga anak human kaninyo, ug aron nga motaas ang inyong mga adlaw sa yuta nga ihatag ni Yahweh nga inyong Dios hangtod sa kahangtoran.”

So shalt thou keep his statutes and his commandments which, I, am commanding thee to-day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy sons after thee, —and to the end thou mayest prolong thy days upon the soil, which Yahweh thy God, is giving thee, all the days.

41 Unya nagpili si Moises og tulo ka siyudad sa silangang bahin sa Jordan,

Then, did Moses set apart three cities, over the Jordan, —towards the rising of the sun:

42 aron ang si bisan kinsa makahimo sa pagdangop niadtong mga dapita kung makapatay siya og laing tawo nga wala gituyo, ug wala pa niya sukad nakaaway kaniadto. Pinaagi sa pagdangop sa usa niining mga siyudara, mamahimo siyang makalahutay.

that the manslayer might flee thither who should slay his neighbour unawares, he, not having hated him, aforetime, —and might flee unto one of these cities, and live:

43 Kining mga lugara mao ang: Bezer nga anaa sa kamingawan, ang patag nga nasod, alang sa banay ni Reuben; ug ang Ramoth sa Gilead, alang sa banay ni Gad; ug ang Golan sa Bashan, alang sa banay ni Manases.

namely Bezer, in the desert of the table-land, for the Reubenites, —and Ramoth in Gilead for the Gadites, and Golan in Bashan, for the Manassites.

44 Mao kini ang balaod nga gihatag ni Moises atubangan sa katawhan sa Israel;

This, then is the law which Moses set before the sons of Israel:

45 mao kini ang mga saad sa kasabotan, mga balaod, ug uban pang mga balaod nga iyang gihatag ngadto sa katawhan sa Israel sa dihang migula sila gikan sa Ehipto,

These, are the testimonies, and the statutes and the regulations, —which Moses spake unto the sons of Israel when they came forth out of Egypt:

46 sa dihang anaa sila sa silangang bahin sa Jordan, walog nga atbang sa Beth Peor, sa yuta ni Sihon, hari sa mga Amorihanon, nga nagpuyo sa Heshbon, nga gibuntog ni Moises ug sa mga katawhan sa Israel sa dihang migula sila sa Ehipto.

over the Jordan in the valley over against Beth-peor, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, —whom Moses and the sons of Israel smote, when they came forth out of Egypt:

47 Giilog nila ang iyang yuta ingon nga ilang gipanag-iyahan, ug ang yuta ni Og nga hari sa Bashan—kini, ang duha ka hari sa mga Amorihanon, nga atua sa tabok sa Jordan sa silangang bahin.

so they took possession of his land, and the land of Og king of Bashan the two kings of the Amorites, who were over the Jordan, —towards the rising of the sun;

48 Kini nga yuta nagsugod sa Aroer, nga anaa sa utlanan sa walog sa Arnon, ngadto sa Bukid nga Zion (o Bukid nga Hermon),

from Aroer which is on the edge of the ravine of Arnon, even unto Mount Sion, the same, is Hermon;

49 ug apil ang tanang patag nga walog sa Suba sa Jordan, silangang bahin tabok sa Jordan, ngadto sa Dagat sa Araba, ngadto sa bakilid nga bahin sa Bukid sa Pisga.

and all the waste plain over the Jordan, towards sunrise, even unto the sea of the waste plain, —under the slopes of the Pisgah.
