1 Sa dihang nagkauyon na kami nga molayag paingon sa Italya, ilang gitugyan si Pablo ug ang uban pang mga binilanggo sa kapitan nga ginganlan ug Julius, sa Augustan nga Regiment.
When it was decided that we should sail for Italy, they put Paul and some other prisoners under the charge of a centurion named Julius of the Imperial Regiment.
2 Misakay kami sa sakayan gikan sa Adramyttium, nga molayag sa baybayon sa Asya. Busa nangadto kami sa dagat. Si Aristarchus nga gikan sa Tesalonica sa Macedonia mikuyog uban kanamo.
We boarded a ship from Adramyttium, which was about to sail along the coast of Asia. So we went to sea. Aristarchus from Thessalonica in Macedonia went with us.

The next day we landed at the city of Sidon, where Julius treated Paul kindly and allowed him to go to his friends to receive their care.

From there we went to sea and sailed under the lee of Cyprus, close to the island, because the winds were against us.

Then we had sailed across the sea and were near the coast of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we landed at Myra, a city of Lycia.

There, the centurion found a ship from Alexandria that was going to sail to Italy. He put us in it.

When we had sailed slowly for many days and had finally arrived with difficulty near Cnidus, the wind no longer allowed us to go that way, so we sailed along the sheltered side of Crete, opposite Salmone.
8 Milayag kami daplin sa baybay uban ang kalisod, hangtod nga midunggo na kami sa usa ka dapit nga gitawag ug Matahom nga Dalangpanan, duol nga siyudad sa Lasea.
We sailed along the coast with difficulty, until we came to a certain place called Fair Havens, which is near the city of Lasea.
9 Miagi na ang hataas nga panahon kanamo, ang panahon sa mga Judio nga pagpuasa milabay na, ug makuyaw na kini karon ang paglayag. Busa si Pablo nagpasidaan kanila,
We had now taken much time, the time of the Jewish fast also had passed, and it had now become dangerous to sail. So Paul warned them,
10 ug miingon, ''Mga katawhan, akong nakita nga sa atong paglayag makahiagom kita sa kadaot ug daghang kapildihan, dili lamang sa mga lulan ug sa sakayan, apan sa atong kinabuhi usab.''
and said, “Men, I see that the voyage we are about to take will be with injury and much loss, not only of the cargo and the ship, but also of our lives.”
11 Apan ang kapitan mihatag ug labaw nga pagtagad sa iyang agalon ug sa tag-iya sa sakayan, kaysa niadtong gipamulong ni Pablo.
But the centurion paid more attention to the master and to the owner of the ship than to those things that were spoken by Paul.
12 Tungod ang dunggoanan dili sayon sa panahon sa tingtugnaw, ang kadaghanan sa mga tripulante nagtambag sa paglawig gikan didto, kung sa bisan unsang pamaagi nga kami makaabot sa siyudad sa Phoenix, aron sa paggahin sa panahon sa tintugnaw didto. Because the harbor was not easy to spend the winter in, most of the sailors advised to sail from there, if by any means we could reach the city of Phoenix, to spend the winter there. Phoenix is a harbor in Crete, and it faces northeast and southeast.

When the south wind began to blow gently, the sailors thought that they had what they needed. So they weighed anchor and sailed along Crete, close to the shore.

But after a short time a wind of hurricane force, called the northeaster, began to beat down from the island.
15 Sa dihang naabtan ang ulo sa sakayan ug dili na kini makasongsong sa hangin, minunot kami ug napadpad uban niini.
When the ship was caught by the storm and could no longer head into the wind, we had to give way to the storm and were driven along by the wind.
16 Kami midangop sa daplin nianang nasalipdan sa gamay nga isla nga gitawag ug Cauda; ug bisan sa kalisod nakahimo kami sa pagluwas sa gamayng sakayan.
We sailed along the lee of a small island called Cauda, and with difficulty we were able to secure the lifeboat.
17 Sa dihang napataas na nila kini, naggamit sila sa pisi aron hiktan ang tibuok sakayan. Sila nangahadlok nga makaadto sa kabalasan sa Syrtis, busa gitonton nila ang angkla sa dagat ug gipadpad.
When they had hoisted the lifeboat up, they used its ropes to bind the hull of the ship. They were afraid that they should run upon the sandbars of Syrtis, so they lowered the sea anchor and were driven along.
18 Labihan ang among kabun-og tungod sa unos, busa sa pagkasunod adlaw ang mga tripulante nagsugod na sa paglabay sa mga lulan nila sa dagat.
We took such a violent battering by the storm that the next day they began throwing the cargo overboard.
19 Sa ikatulong adlaw gipanglabay sa mga tripulante ang mga kagamitan sa sakayan ngadto sa dagat pinaagi sa ilang mga kamot.
On the third day the sailors threw overboard the ship's equipment with their own hands.
20 Ug sa diha nga ang adlaw ug mga bituon wala misidlak kanamo sa pipila ka mga adlaw, ug ang dako nga unos nagpabilin gihapon sa pagkusokuso kanamo, ang tanang paglaom nga kami maluwas nahanaw.
When the sun and stars did not shine on us for many days, and the great storm still beat upon us, any more hope that we should be saved was abandoned.
21 Sa dihang dugay na sila nga wala na gayoy pagkaon, si Pablo mitindog taliwala sa mga tripulante ug miingon, “Mga katawha, naminaw unta kamo kanako, ug wala molayag gikan sa Crete, aron makahiagom niining kadaot ug kapildihan.
When they had gone long without food, then Paul stood up among the sailors and said, “Men, you should have listened to me, and not have set sail from Crete, so as to get this injury and loss.
22 Ug karon nagdasig ako kaninyo nga maglig-on, kay walay bisan kinsa nga makabsan sa kinabuhi taliwala kaninyo, kondili ang pagkawala sa sakayan.
Now I urge you to take courage, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only the loss of the ship.
23 Kay sa miaging gabii ang anghel sa Dios kung asa ako nahisakop, nga gisimba ko usab - ang anghel niya mitindog tupad kanako
For last night an angel of the God to whom I belong, whom also I worship—his angel stood beside me
24 ug miingon, ''Ayaw kahadlok, Pablo. Ikaw makig-atubang kang Caesar, ug tan-awa, ang Dios sa iyang kaluoy gitugyan kanimo kadtong tanan nga naglayag kauban nimo.
and said, 'Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar, and see, God in his kindness has given to you all those who are sailing with you.'
25 Busa, mga katawhan, pagbaton ug kadasig, tungod kay ako nagsalig sa Dios, nga kana mahitabo sama sa gisulti kanako.
Therefore be cheerful, men! For I trust God that it will happen just as it was told to me.
26 Apan kinahanglan modunggo gayod kita ngadto sa usa ka isla.''
But we must run aground upon some island.”
27 Sa pag-abot sa ikanapulog upat ka gabii, sa gianod kami niining dalana ug diha sa Dagat sa Adriatic, sa hapit na tungang gabii ang mga tripulante naghunahuna nga nagkaduol na sila sa yuta.
When the fourteenth night had come, as we were driven this way and that in the Adriatic Sea, about midnight the sailors thought that they were approaching some land.
28 Gisukod nila ug nakaplagan nga 20 ang kalawmon; human sa pipila ka takna, nagtugkad na usab sila ug nakakaplag ug 15 ang kalawmon.
They took soundings and found twenty fathoms; after a little while, they took more soundings and found fifteen fathoms.
29 Nangahadlok sila kay basin ug masangko sila sa mga bato, busa gitunton nila ang upat ka angkla gikan sa likod nga bahin sa sakayan ug nag-ampo nga moabot na unta ang kabuntagon.
They were afraid that we might crash on the rocks, so they lowered four anchors from the stern and prayed that morning would come soon.
30 Ang mga tripulante nangitag pamaagi sa pagbiya sa sakayan ug gipaubos ang gamayng sakayan ngadto sa dagat, ug nagpakaaron-ingnon nga ihulog nila ang angkla gikan sa unahang bahin sa sakayan.
The sailors were looking for a way to abandon the ship and had lowered the lifeboat into the sea, and pretended that they would throw down the anchors from the bow.
31 Apan si Pablo miingon sa kapitan ug sa mga sundalo, ''Gawas kung kining mga tawhana magpabilin niining sakayan, dili kamo maluwas.''
But Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, “Unless these men stay in the ship, you cannot be saved.”
32 Unya giputol sa mga sundalo ang pisi sa sakayan ug gianod palayo.
Then the soldiers cut away the ropes of the boat and let it drift away.
33 Sa pagkabanagbanag na, si Pablo nag-awhag kanilang tanan sa pagkuhag pagkaon. Siya miingon, ''Kining adlawa ang ikanapulog upat ka adlaw nga kamo nagpaabot ug walay gikaon; wala gayod kamo makakaon.
When daylight was coming on, Paul urged them all to take some food. He said, “This day is the fourteenth day that you wait and do not eat; you have eaten nothing.
34 Busa nanghangyo ako kaninyo sa pagkuha ug pipila ka pagkaon, kay alang kini sa inyong kaluwasan; ug walay bisan usa sa inyong buhok ang mawala.''
So I urge you to share some food, for this is necessary for you to survive. For not one of you will lose a single hair from his head.”
35 Sa pagsulti niya niini, gikuha niya ang tinapay ug nagpasalamat sa Dios atubangan sa matag-usa. Ug gipikaspikas niya ang tinapay ug misugod sa pagkaon.
When he had said this, he took bread and he thanked God in the sight of everyone. Then he broke the bread and began to eat.
36 Unya silang tanan nadasig ug mikuha usab sila sa pagkaon.
Then they were all encouraged and they also took food.
37 Mga 276 kami ka tawo nga anaa sa sakayan.
We were 276 people in the ship.
38 Sa dihang silang tanan nangabusog na, gipagaan nila ang sakayan pinaagi sa paglabay sa mga trigo sa dagat.
When they had eaten enough, they made the ship lighter by throwing out the wheat into the sea.
39 Sa pagkaadlaw na, wala sila makaila sa yuta, apan nakita nila ang baybay sa dagat, ug naghisgotanay kung mahimo ba nilang madala ang sakayan didtong dapita.
When it was day, they did not recognize the land, but they saw a bay with a beach, and they discussed whether they could drive the ship onto it.
40 Busa gibuhian nila ang higot sa angkla ug gibiyaan nila sa dagat. Sa mao nga higayon gibadbad nila ang higoy sa timon ug gibukhad ang layag alang sa hangin. Ug busa mipadulong sila sa baybay.
So they cut loose the anchors and left them in the sea. At the same time they loosed the ropes of the rudders and raised the foresail to the wind; and so they headed to the beach.
41 Apan miabot sila sa dapit diin ang duha ka bugwak sa tubig nagtagbo, ug ang sakayan misangyad sa yuta. Ang dulong sa barko niungot didto ug dili na kini malihok, apan ang likod niini misugod na usab pagkaguba tungod sa kusog kaayong balod.
But they came to a place where two currents met, and the ship ran into the ground. The bow of the ship stuck there and remained unmovable, but the stern began to break up because of the waves' violence.
42 Ang laraw sa mga sundalo mao ang pagpatay sa mga binilanggo aron walay bisan usa kanila nga akalangoy palayo ug makaikyas.
The soldiers' plan was to kill the prisoners so that none of them could swim away and escape.
43 Apan ang kapitan nagtinguha sa pagluwas kang Pablo, busa gipugngan niya ang ilang laraw; ug gimandoan niya kadtong makahimo sa paglangoy nga moambak sa tubig paingon sa yuta.
But the centurion wanted to save Paul, so he stopped their plan; and he ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land.
44 Unya ang kadaghanan sa mga tawo kinahangalan nga mosunod, ang uban sa mga tabla ug ang uban sa mga butang nga gikan sa sakayan. Niining paagiha nahitabo nga ang tanan kanamo luwas nga miabot sa yuta.
Then the rest of the men should follow, some on planks, and some on other things from the ship. In this way it happened that all of us came safely to land.
