2 Samuel 5

1 Unya miadto ang tanang mga tribo sa Israel ngadto kang David sa Hebron ug miingon, “Tan-awa, unod ug bukog mo kami.

Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spoke, saying, Behold us, thy bone and thy flesh are we;

2 Kaniadto, sa dihang si Saul pa ang naghari kanato, ikaw usab ang nagdumala sa kasundalohan sa Israel. Miingon si Yahweh kanimo, 'Bantayan mo ang akong katawhan nga mga Israelita, ug mahimo kang pangulo sa Israel.”'

Already yesterday, and even before, when Saul was king over us, thou wast the one that led out and brought in Israel: And the Lord said to thee, Thou shalt indeed feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a chief over Israel.

3 Busa miadto ang tanang katigulangan sa Israel ngadto sa hari didto sa Hebron, ug naghimo si David ug kasabotan tali kanila sa atubangan ni Yahweh. Gidihogan nila si David ingon nga hari sa tibuok Israel.

Thus came all the elders of Israel to the king unto Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord: and they anointed David as king over Israel.

4 Nagpangidaron si David ug 30 sa dihang nagsugod siya sa paghari, ug naghari siya sulod sa 40 ka tuig.

Thirty years was David old when he became king, [and] forty years he reigned.

5 Naghari siya sa Juda didto sa Hebron sulod sa pito ka tuig ug unom ka bulan, ug naghari siya sa Jerusalem sulod sa 33 ka tuig sa tibuok Israel ug Juda.

In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.

6 Miadto ang hari ug ang iyang kasundalohan sa Jerusalem aron makigbatok sa mga Jebusihanon, nga mga lumulupyo sa maong yuta. Miingon sila kang David, “Dili kamo makaanhi dinhi gawas kung buot ninyo nga pildihon kamo sa mga buta ug bakol. Dili makasulod si David dinhi.”

And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land; who said unto David, as followeth, Thou shalt not come in hither, except thou [first] remove away the blind and the lame: meaning, David cannot come in hither.

7 Bisan pa niana, nailog ni David ang kota sa Sion, nga nahimo karong siyudad ni David.

Nevertheless David captured the strong-hold of Zion; the same is the city of David.

8 Nianang panahona miingon si David, “Kadtong nagsulong sa mga Jebusihanon kinahanglan moagi sa agianan sa tubig aron maapsan ang 'bakol ug ang buta' nga mga kaaway ni David.” Maong miingon ang katawhan, “Ang 'buta ug ang bakol' kinahanglan nga dili mosulod sa palasyo.”

And David said on that day, Whosoever will smite the Jebusites, and reach the aqueduct and the lame and the blind, that are hateful to David's soul, —Wherefore people usually say, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.

9 Busa mipuyo si David sa maong kota ug gitawag kini nga siyudad ni David. Gilig-on niya ang tibuok palibot niini, gikan sa balkonahe hangtod sa sulod.

And David dwelt in the fort, and he called it “The City of David.” And David built [it] round about from the Millo and inward.

10 Nahimong gamhanan si David tungod kang Yahweh, ang Dios sa kasundalohang anghel, nga nag-uban kaniya.

And David went on, and became greater and greater, and the Lord the God of hosts was with him.

11 Unya nagpadala ug mga mensahero si Hiram nga hari sa Tiro ngadto kang David, ug mga kahoy nga sidro, mga panday, ug mga mason. Nagtukod sila ug balay alang kang David.

And Hiram the king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar-trees, and carpenters, and stone-masons: and they built a house for David.

12 Nasayod si David nga gilig-on na siya ni Yahweh ingon nga hari sa Israel, ug nga iyang gibayaw ang iyang gingharian alang sa kaayohan sa iyang katawhan sa Israel.

And David felt conscious that the Lord has established him as king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.

13 Pagkahuman ug biya ni David sa Hebron ug miadto sa Jerusalem, nagkuha siya ug dugang pang mga kaipon ug mga asawa sa Jerusalem, ug dugang pang mga anak nga lalaki ug babaye ang gipakatawo kaniya.

And David took yet more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron; and there were born to David yet [more] sons and daughters.

14 Mao kini ang mga ngalan sa mga anak nga gipakatawo kaniya didto sa Jerusalem: Sammua, Sobab, Natan, Solomon,

And these are the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem: Shammua', and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,

15 Ibar, Elisua, Nefeg, Jafia,

And Yibchar, and Elishua', and Nepheg, and Yaphia',

16 Elisama, Eliada, ug si Elifelet.

And Elishama', and Elyada', and Eliphelet.

17 Karon sa dihang nadunggan sa mga Filistihanon nga gidihogan na si David ingon nga hari sa Israel, migawas silang tanan aron sa pagpangita kaniya. Apan nadunggan kini ni David ug miadto siya sa salipdanan.

But when the Philistines heard that the people had anointed David as king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David: and David heard of it, and went down to the strong-hold.

18 Karon miabot ang mga Filistihanon ug nagkatag sa walog sa Refaim.

The Philistines also came and spread themselves out in the valley of Rephaim.

19 Unya nangayo ug panabang si David kang Yahweh. Miingon siya, “Sulongon ko ba ang mga Filistihanon? Ihatag mo ba ang kadaogan batok kanila?” Miingon si Yahweh kang David, “Sulonga, kay ihatag ko gayod kanimo ang kadaogan batok sa mga Filistihanon.”

And David asked counsel of the Lord, saying, shall I go up against the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said unto David, Go up; for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into thy hand.

20 Busa misulong si David sa Baal Perazim, ug didto gibuntog niya sila. Miingon siya, “Mibugwak si Yahweh ngadto sa akong mga kaaway sa akong atubangan ingon nga mibugwak nga tubig sa baha.” Busa nahimong Baal Perazim ang ngalan niana nga dapit.

And David came to Ba'al-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The Lord hath broken down my enemies before me, as a breach [is made by] water. Wherefore he called the name of that place Ba'al-perazim.

21 Gibilin sa mga Filistihanon ang ilang mga diosdios didto, ug gipangdala kini ni David ug sa iyang mga kasundalohan.

And they left behind there their idols, and David and his men burnt them.

22 Unya misubida ug nagkatag na usab ang mga Filistihanon sa walog sa Refaim.

And the Philistines came up once again, and spread themselves out in the valley of Rephaim.

23 Busa nangayo na usab ug tabang si David kang Yahweh, ug miingon si Yahweh kaniya, “Kinahanglan nga dili kamo mosulong sa ilang atubangan, apan liputa ninyo sila ug sulonga sila agi sa kakahoyan sa balsamo.

And when David asked counsel of the Lord, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but turn about and fall in the rear of them, and come upon them opposite to the mulberry-trees.

24 Sa dihang madungog ninyo ang tingog sa pagmartsa pinaagi sa huros sa hangin agi sa tumoy sa kakahoyan sa balsamo, sulong dayon kamo. Buhata kini tungod kay mag-uban si Yahweh kaninyo aron sa pagsulong sa kasundalohan sa mga Filistihanon.”

And it shall be, when thou hearest the sound of walking on the top of the mulberry-trees, that thou shalt then bestir thyself; for then will the Lord go out before thee, to smite in the camp of the Philistines.

25 Busa gibuhat kini ni David sumala sa sugo ni Yahweh kaniya. Gipamatay niya ang mga Filistihanon gikan sa Geba padulong sa Gezer.

And David did so, as the Lord had commanded him; and he smote the Philistines from Geba' until thou comest to Gezer.
