2 Samuel 10
1 Nahitabo kini human nga namatay ang hari sa katawhan sa Ammon, ug si Hanun nga iyang anak nahimong hari puli kaniya.
And it came to pass after this, that the king of the children of Ammon died, and Hanon his son reigned in his stead.
2 Miingon si David, “Magpakita ako ug pagkamaayo ngadto kang Hanun nga anak ni Nahas, ingon nga nagpakita ug kaayo ang iyang amahan kanako.” Busa nagpadala si David ug iyang mga sulugoon aron sa paghupay kang Hanun kabahin sa iyang amahan. Misulod ang iyang mga sulugoon sa yuta sa katawhan sa Ammon.
And David said: I Will shew kindness to Hanon the son of Daas, as his father shewed kindness to me. So David sent his servants to comfort him for the death of his father. But when the servants of David were come into the land of the children of Ammon,
3 Apan miingon ang mga pangulo sa katawhan sa Ammon ngadto kang Hanun nga ilang agalon, “Naghunahuna ka ba gayod nga gitahod ni David ang imong amahan tungod kay nagpadala siya ug mga tawo aron sa paghupay kanimo? Wala ba gipadala ni David ang iyang mga sulugoon aron sa pagtan-aw sa siyudad ug sa pagpaniid niini, aron nga lumpagon kini?”
The princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanon their lord: Thinkest thou that for the honour of thy father, David hath sent comforters to thee, and hath not David rather sent his servants to thee to search, and spy into the city, and overthrow it?
4 Busa gikuha ni Hanun ang mga sulugoon ni David, ug gikiskisan ang katunga sa ilang mga bungot, ug giputlan ang ilang mga bisti kutob sa ilang mga sampot, ug gipalakaw sila.
Wherefore Hanon took the servants of David, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut away half of their garments even to the buttocks, and sent them away.
5 Sa dihang gisugilon nila kini kang David, nagsugo siya ug tawo nga mosugat kanila, tungod kay naulaw pag-ayo ang mga tawo. Miingon ang hari, “Pabilin kamo sa Jerico hangtod nga motaas pagbalik ang inyong mga bungot, unya balik kamo dinhi.”
When this was told David, he sent to meet them: for the men were sadly put to confusion, and David commanded them, saying: Stay at Jericho, till your beards be grown, and then return.
6 Sa dihang nakita sa katawhan sa Ammon nga nahimo silang baho kang David, nagpadala ang katawhan sa Ammon ug mga mensahero ug gisuholan ang mga Arameanhon sa Bet Rehob ug Soba, 20, 000 ka mga nagmartsa nga mga sundalo, ug ang hari sa Maaca uban sa 1000 ka mga kalalakin-an, ug ang mga lalaki sa Tob uban sa 12, 000 ka mga kalalakin-an.
And the children of Ammon seeing that they had done an injury to David, Bent and hired the Syrians of Rohob, and the Syrians of Soba, twenty thousand footmen, and of the king of Maacha a thousand men, and of Istob twelve thousand men.
7 Sa dihang nadungog kini ni David, gipadala niya si Joab ug ang tanang kasundalohan.
And when David heard this, he sent Joab and the whole army of warriors.
8 Migawas ang mga Ammonihanon ug naglinya alang sa pagpakiggubat diha sa ganghaan sa ilang siyudad, samtang ang mga Arameanhon sa Soba ug sa Rehob, ug ang mga lalaki sa Tob ug Maaca, nagtindog sa hawan nga dapit.
And the children of Ammon came out, and set their men in array at the entering in of the gate: but the Syrians of Soba, and of Rohob, and of Istob, and of Maacha were by themselves in the field.
9 Sa dihang nakita ni Joab nga naglinya sila sa iyang atubangan ug sa iyang likod, gipamili niya ang pinaka maayong mga manggugubat ug gihan-ay sila batok sa mga Arameanhon.
Then Joab seeing that the battle was prepared against him, both before and behind, chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians:
10 Ug alang sa nahibiling kasundalohan, gihatag niya ang pagdumala ngadto kang Abisai nga iyang igsoon, ug iya silang gipalinya alang sa gubat batok sa kasundalohan sa Ammon.
And the rest of the people he delivered to Abisai his brother, who set them in array against the children of Ammon.
11 Miingon si Joab, “Kung lig-on ra kaayo ang Arameanhon alang kanako, ikaw Abisai, kinahanglan moluwas kanako. Apan kung mas lig-on alang kanimo ang kasundalohan sa Ammonihanon, moabot ako ug luwason ta ka.
And Joab said: If the Syrians are too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon are too strong for thee, then I will help thee.
12 Pagmalig-on, ug atong ipakita nga lig-on kita alang sa atong katawhan ug alang sa mga siyudad sa atong Dios, kay buhaton ni Yahweh kung unsay maayo sa iyang katuyoan.”
Be of good courage, and let us fight for our people, and for the city of our God: and the Lord will do what is good in his sight.
13 Busa misulong si Joab ug ang iyang mga kasundalohan sa mga Arameanhon, nga napugos ug sibog batok sa kasundalohan sa Israel.
And Joab and the people that were with him, began to fight against the Syrians: and they immediately fled before him.
14 Sa dihang nakita sa kasundalohan sa Ammon nga nanagan ang mga Arameanhon, misibog usab sila batok kang Abisai ug mibalik sa siyudad. Unya mibalik si Joab gikan sa katawhan sa Ammon ug mipauli sa Jerusalem.
And the children of Ammon seeing that the Syrians were fled, they fled also before Abisai, and entered into the city: and Joab returned from the children of Ammon, and came to Jerusalem.
15 Ug sa dihang nakita sa mga Arameanhon nga mapildi na sila sa Israel, nagtapok sila pag-usab.
Then the Syrians seeing that they had fallen before Israel, gathered themselves together.
16 Unya gipatawag ni Hadareser ang kasundalohan sa Aramean nga atua sa tabok sa Suba sa Eufrates. Miabot sila sa Helam kauban si Sobak, nag-una kanila ang pangulo sa mga kasundalohan ni Hadareser.
And Adarezer sent and fetched the Syrians, that were beyond the river, and brought over their army: and Sobach, the captain of the host of Adarezer, was their general.
17 Sa dihang gisuginlan si David niini, gitigom niya ang tanang Israelita, tabok sa Jordan, ug miabot sa Helam. Ang mga Arameanhon naghan-ay sa ilang mga kaugalingon alang sa pagpakiggubat batok kang David ug nakig-away kaniya.
And when this was told David, he gathered all Israel together, and passed over the Jordan, and came to Helam: and the Syrians set themselves in array against David, and fought against him.
18 Mikalagiw ang mga Arameanhon batok sa Israel. Nakapatay si David ug 700 ka mga Arameanhong kasundalohan nga nagsakay sa mga karwahe ug 40, 000 ka mga sundalo nga nagkabayo. Nasamdan si Sobak ang pangulo sa ilang mga kasundalohan ug namatay didto.
And the Syrians fled before Israel, and David slew of the Syrians the men of seven hundred chariots, and forty thousand horsemen: and smote Sobach the captain of the army, who presently died.
19 Sa dihang nakita sa tanang mga hari nga sulugoon ni Hadareser nga napildi sila sa Israel, nakighigala sila sa Israel ug nagpadumala kanila. Busa mahadlok na gayod nga motabang ang mga Arameanhon sa mga Ammonihanon.
And all the kings that were auxiliaries of Adarezer, seeing themselves overcome by Israel, were afraid and fled away, eight and fifty thousand men before Israel. And they made peace with Israel: and served them, and all the Syrians were afraid to help the children of Ammon any more.
