1 Timoteo 3
1 Kasaligan kini nga panultihon: Kung adunay buot nga mahimong tagadumala, nagtinguha siya ug maayong buluhaton.
This is a true saying: If any desires the office of a bishop, he desires a good work.
2 Busa ang tagadumala kinahanglan walay ikasaway, bana sa usa ka asawa, dili magpalabi, maalamon, matinarongon, maabiabihon, kahibalo motudlo,
A bishop, then, must be blameless, the husband of one wife, watchful, soberminded, modest, hospitable, able to teach,
3 dili gapalabi sa bino, dili palaaway, apan hinuon, malumo, malinawon, dili mahigugmaon sa kwarta.
not fond of wine, not quarrelsome, not one who makes money by base means; but gentle, not contentious, not covetous;
4 Kinahanglan maayo ang pagdumala niya sa iyang panimalay, ug ang iyang mga anak kinahanglan gatuman kaniya nga adunay tanang pagtahod;
one that rules his own house well; having his children in subjection with all gravity:
5 kay kung ang lalaki dili kahibalo magdumala sa iyang kaugalingong panimalay, unsaon man niya pag-atiman sa usa ka iglesia sa Dios?
for if a man knows not how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?
6 Kinahanglan nga dili siya bag-o pa lang nga tumutuo, aron dili siya maghinambog ug masilotan sama sa yawa.
Not a new convert, lest, having become conceited, he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7 Kinahanglan sad nga siya adunay maayong dungog ngadto sa mga taga-gawas, aron dili siya mapaulawan ug mabitik sa lit-ag sa yawa.
Further, he must have a good reputation from those who are without, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
8 Ang mga diacono sad, kinahanglan takos sa pagtahod, dili galainlain ang istorya, wala gapalabi sa pag-inom ug bino, ug dili hakog.
The deacons, likewise, must be grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not makers of money by base means,
9 Kinahanglan tipigan nila ang gipadayag nga kamatuoran sa pagtuo nga adunay hinlo nga konsensiya.
holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
10 Kinahanglan sad maaprobahan usa sila, ug anha pa dayon sila mangalagad tungod kay wala nay ikasaway kanila.
And let these also be first proved, then let them become deacons, being blameless.
11 Ang mga babaye, sa samang pamaagi, kinahanglan takos sad sa pagtahod, dili mangdaut sa uban, dili magpalabi, ug matinumanon sa tanang butang.
Their wives likewise must be grave, not slanderers, watchful, faithful in all things.
12 Ang mga diacono kinahanglan mga bana sa usa ka asawa ug maayo magdumala sa ilang mga anak ug panimalay.
Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
13 Kay kadtong mga maayo mangalagad makabaton alang sa ilang kaugalingon ug maayong pagdungog ug dakong kaisog sa pagtuo diha kang Cristo Jesus.
For those who have filled the office of a deacon well, gain for themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.
14 Akong gisulat kanimo kining mga butanga ug naglaum ako nga makaanha ako kanimo dayon,
I write these things to you, hoping to come to you shortly;
15 apan kung malangan ako, nagsulat ako daan aron makahibalo ka kung unsaon pagiya sa balay sa buhi nga Dios, nga mao ang haligi ug gasuporta sa kamatuoran.
but if I delay, that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.
16 Ug kauban kita nga nagkasinabot nga, “Dako ang gipadayag nga kamatuoran sa pagkadiosnon.” “Siya nagpakita sa lawas”, “Gipamatud-an siya nga matarong sa Espiritu, “Nakita sa mga anghel, “Gisangyaw sa kanasuran, “Gituohan sa kalibotan, “Gibayaw ngadto sa himaya.”
And confessedly great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in flesh, justified in spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory.
