1 Samuel 7
1 Nangabot ang katawhan sa Kiriat Jearim, gikuha nila ang arka ni Yahweh, ug gidala sa balay ni Abinadab nga didto sa bungtod. Gipili nila ang iyang anak nga si Eleazar aron maoy magbantay sa arka ni Yahweh.
So the people of Kiriath-jearim came and took the Ark of the Lord. They put it in Abinadab's house on the hill. They dedicated his son Eleazar to take care of the Ark of the Lord.
2 Nagpabilin ang arka sa Kiriat Jearim sukad niadtong adlawa hangtod sa hataas pa nga panahon, nga milungtad sa 20 ka tuig. Nagbangotan ang tibuok panimalay sa Israel ug nagtinguha sa pagbalik kang Yahweh.
The Ark remained there in Kiriath-jearim from that day for a long time, in fact for twenty years. Everyone in Israel mourned and in repentance came back to the Lord.
3 Si Samuel miingon sa tibuok panimalay sa Israel, “Kung mobalik kamo kang Yahweh sa bug-os ninyong kasingkasing, isalikway ang mga langyaw nga mga dios ug ang Astarot diha kaninyo, itugyan ang inyong kasingkasing kang Yahweh, ug siya lamang ang simbaha, unya siya magaluwas kaninyo gikan sa kamot sa mga Filistihanon.”
Then Samuel said to all of Israel, “If you sincerely wish to come back to the Lord, then get rid of the foreign gods and the Ashtoreth images you have, and commit yourselves to the Lord and only worship him, and he will save you from the Philistines.”
4 Unya gisalikway sa katawhan sa Israel ang mga Baal ug ang Astarot, ug si Yahweh lamang ang gisimba.
The people of Israel got rid of their Baals and Ashtoreth images and worshiped only the Lord.
5 Unya miingon si Samuel, “Tigoma ang tibuok Israel didto sa Mizpa ug magaampo ako kang Yahweh alang kaninyo.”
Then Samuel said, “Have all the people of Israel gather at Mizpah, and I will pray to the Lord for you.”
6 Nagtigom sila didto sa Mizpa, nagkalos ug tubig ug gibubo kini atubangan ni Yahweh. Nagpuasa sila nianang adlawa ug miingon, “Nakasala kami batok kang Yahweh.” Ug didto naghukom si Samuel sa panagbingkil sa katawhan sa Israel ug nangulo sa katawhan.
Once they had gathered at Mizpah, they drew water and poured it out before the Lord. They fasted that day, and admitted, “We have sinned against the Lord.” Samuel became the leader of the Israelites at Mizpah.
7 Karon sa pagkadungog sa mga Filistihanon nga nagtigom ang katawhan sa Israel didto sa Mizpa, ang mga pangulo sa Filistihanon misulong sa Israel. Sa pagkadungog niini sa katawhan sa Israel, nangahadlok sila sa mga Filistihanon.
When the Philistines found out that the Israelites had gathered at Mizpah, their rulers led an attack on Israel. When the Israelites heard about this, they were terrified at what the Philistines might do.
8 Unya miingon ang katawhan sa Israel kang Samuel, “Ayaw paghunong sa pagtuaw kang Yahweh nga atong Dios alang kanamo, aron luwason niya kita gikan sa kamot sa mga Filistihanon.”
They told Samuel, “Don't stop pleading with the Lord our God for us so he can save us from the Philistines.”
9 Mikuha si Samuel ug usa ka nagsuso pa nga karnero ug gihalad kini ingon nga tibuok halad sinunog alang kang Yahweh. Unya mituaw si Samuel kang Yahweh alang sa Israel, ug mitubag si Yahweh kaniya.
Samuel took a young lamb and presented it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. He cried out for help to the Lord for Israel, and the Lord responded.
10 Samtang si Samuel naghalad pa sa halad sinunog, ang mga Filitishanon nagpadulong aron makig-away sa Israel. Apan si Yahweh nagpadalugdog sa makusog nga dahunog nianang adlawa batok sa mga Filistihanon ug nagkaguliyang sila, ug nabuntog sila atubangan sa Israel.
While Samuel was presenting the burnt offering, the Philistines approached to attack Israel. But the Lord thundered extremely loudly against the Philistines that day, which totally confused them, and they were defeated as Israel watched.
11 Nanggawas ang katawhan sa Israel gikan sa Mizpa, ug gipanggukod nila ang mga Filistihanon ug gipamatay sila hangtod sa ubos sa Betcar.
Then the men of Israel ran out from Mizpah and chased them, killing them all the way to a place near Beth-car.
12 Unya mikuha si Samuel ug bato ug gipahimutang kini taliwala sa Mizpa ug sa Shen. Ginganlan niya kini ug Ebenezer, nga nagpasabot, “Hangtod dinhi si Yahweh nagtabang kanato.”
After this Samuel took a stone and placed it between Mizpah and Shen. He called it Ebenezer, saying, “The Lord helped us right up to here!”
13 Busa nabuntog ang mga Filistihanon ug wala na mosulod pa sa utlanan sa Israel. Ang kamot ni Yahweh batok sa mga Filistihanon sa tanang mga adlaw ni Samuel.
In this way the Philistines were kept under control and did not invade Israel again. During Samuel's lifetime the Lord used his power against the Philistines.
14 Ang mga lungsod nga giilog sa mga Filistihanon gikan sa Israel nabalik na sa Israel, gikan sa Ekron hangtod sa Gat; nabawi na sa Israel ang ilang ginsakopan gikan sa mga Filistihanon. Unya aduna nay kalinaw tali sa Israel ug sa mga Amorihanon.
The towns the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, all the way from Ekron to Gath, and Israel also liberated the neighboring territory from the hands of the Philistines. There was also peace between Israel and the Amorites.
15 Si Samuel mao ang maghuhukom sa Israel sa tanang mga adlaw sa iyang kinabuhi.
Samuel was Israel's leader for the rest of his life.
16 Matag tuig mag-adtoan siya sa paglibot sa Betel, sa Gilgal, ug sa Mizpa. Nagahukom siya sa mga panagbingkil sa Israel niining mga dapita.
Every year he went around, going to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah. At all these places he ruled Israel.
17 Unya mopauli siya sa Rama, kay atua man ang iyang balay didto; ug didto nagahukom usab siya sa mga panagbingkil sa Israel. Nagtukod usab siya didto ug usa ka halaran alang kang Yahweh.
Then he would return to Ramah because that was where he lived. He ruled Israel from there, and also built an altar to the Lord.
