1 Ako si Pedro, apostol ni Jesu-Cristo, ngadto sa mga langyaw nga nagkatibulaag, ang mga pinili, sa tibuok Pontus, Galacia, Capadocia, Asya, Bitinya.
Peter, an Apostle of Jesus Christ: To God's own people scattered over the earth, who are living as foreigners in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Roman Asia, and Bithynia,
2 Kini sumala sa plano nang daan sa Dios nga Amahan. Kini pinaagi sa pagbalaan alang sa Espiritu alang sa pagmasinugtanon ug alang sa pagwisikwisik sa dugo ni Jesu-Cristo. Hinaot ang grasya maanaa kaninyo, ug ang inyong kalinaw mouswag.
chosen in accordance with the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, with a view to their obedience and to their being sprinkled with the blood of Jesus Christ. May more and more grace and peace be granted to you.
3 Hinaot nga ang Dios Amahan sa atong Ginoong Jesu-Cristo magpanalangin. Sa dako niyang kaluoy, gihatagan niya kita ug bag-ong kinabuhi alang sa pagsalig sa usa ka panulundon. Kini nga panulundon pinaagi sa pagkabanhaw ni Jesu-Cristo gikan sa mga patay.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who in His great mercy has begotten us anew to an ever-living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 Kini alang sa panulundon nga dili mahanaw, dili mamantsahan, ug dili molubad. Kini giandam sa langit alang kaninyo.
to an inheritance imperishable, undefiled and unfading, which has been reserved in Heaven for you,
5 Gipanalipdan kamo sa gahom sa Dios pinaagi sa pagtuo, alang sa kaluwasan nga andam ipadayag sa kataposang panahon.
whom God in His power is guarding through faith for a salvation that even now stands ready for unveiling at the End of the Age.
6 Naglipay kamo pag-ayo mahitungod niini, bisan karon gikinahanglan ninyo nga bation ang kaguol sa daghan nga nagkalainlaing mga kasamok.
Rejoice triumphantly in the prospect of this, even if now, for a short time, you are compelled to sorrow amid various trials.
7 Tungod kini sa pagpamatuod sa inyong pagtuo, nga mas bililhon pa kay sa bulawan nga mahanaw, bisan nga gisulayan kini pinaagi sa kalayo. Kini mahitabo aron nga ang inyong pagtuo mosangpot sa pagdayeg, sa himaya, ug dungog sa pagpadayag ni Jesu-Cristo.
The sorrow comes in order that the testing of your faith--being more precious than that of gold, which perishes and yet is proved by fire--may be found to result in praise and glory and honour at the re-appearing of Jesus Christ.
8 Wala kamo makakita kaniya, apan gihigugma ninyo siya. Wala ninyo siya nakita karon, apan mituo kamo kaniya ug hilabihan ang inyong kalipay nga dili malitok, ang mahimayaong kalipay.
Him you love, though your eyes have never looked on Him. In Him, though at present you cannot see Him, you nevertheless trust, and triumph with a joy which is unspeakable and is crowned with glory,
9 Karon nadawat ninyo alang sa inyong kaugalingon ang resulta sa inyong pagtuo, ang kaluwasan sa inyong mga kalag.
while you are securing as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.
10 Ang mga propeta nagsusi ug nangutana pag-ayo mahitungod niini nga kaluwasan, mahitungod sa grasya nga maanaa kaninyo.
There were Prophets who earnestly inquired about that salvation, and closely searched into it--even those who spoke beforehand of the grace which was to come to you.
11 Nagsusi sila aron masayod mahitungod kang kinsa ug kanus-a ang Espiritu ni Cristo nga anaa kanila nga nakigsulti ngadto kanila. Nahitabo kini ingon nga siya makigsulti nang daan kanila mahitungod sa pag-antos ni Cristo ug ang mahimayaong mga butang human niana.
They were eager to know the time which the Spirit of Christ within them kept indicating, or the characteristics of that time, when they solemnly made known beforehand the sufferings that were to come upon Christ and the glories which would follow.
12 Kini gipadayag ngadto sa mga propeta nga wala sila nag-alagad alang sa ilang kaugalingon, apan alang kaninyo. Kini mao ang ilang gibuhat mahitungod sa mga butang nga gisulti kaninyo pinaagi niadtong gipasabot sa Balaang Espiritu, nga gipadala gikan sa langit. Kini mao ang mga butang nga bisan ang mga anghel nagtinguha nga mapadayagan.
To them it was revealed that they were serving not themselves but you, when they foretold the very things which have now been openly declared to you by those who, having been taught by the Holy Spirit which had been sent from Heaven, brought you the Good News. Angels long to stoop and look into these things.
13 Busa andama ang inyong mga hunahuna. Pagmalinawon. Ibutang ang tanang nga pagsalig diha sa grasya nga pagadad-on nganha kaninyo sa pagpadayag ni Jesu-Cristo.
Therefore gird up your minds and fix your hopes calmly and unfalteringly upon the boon that is soon to be yours, at the re-appearing of Jesus Christ.
14 Ingon nga matinumanon nga mga anak, ayaw ipahiuyon ang inyong kaugalingon sa mga tinguha nga inyong gisunod sa dihang kamo mga wala pay alamag.
And, since you delight in obedience, do not shape your lives by the cravings which used to dominate you in the time of your ignorance,
15 Apan ingon nga ang nagtawag kaninyo balaan, kamo, usab, magbalaan sa tibuok ninyong pamatasan.
but--in imitation of the holy One who has called you--you also must be holy in all your habits of life.
16 Kay kini nahisulat, “Pagbalaan, kay ako balaan man.”
Because it stands written, "You are to be holy, because I am holy."
17 Ug kung mosangpit kamo sa “Amahan” nga mao ang magahukom nga walay pagpalabi sumala sa binuhatan sa matag-usa, gamita ang inyong panahon sa pagpanaw diha sa balaanong pagtahod.
And if you address as your Father Him who judges impartially in accordance with each man's actions, then spend in fear the time of your stay here on earth,
18 Nasayod kamo nga dili tungod sa mangahanaw nga plata o bulawan nga kamo natubos gikan sa binuang nga pamatasan nga inyong natun-an gikan sa inyong mga amahan.
knowing, as you do, that it was not with a ransom of perishable wealth, such as silver or gold, that you were set free from your frivolous habits of life which had been handed down to you from your forefathers,
19 Hinuon, natubos kamo pinaagi sa hamili nga dugo ni Cristo, nga sama sa usa ka karnero nga walay buling o mansa.
but with the precious blood of Christ--as of an unblemished and spotless lamb.
20 Si Cristo gipili ng daan sa wala pa gibuhat ang kalibotan, apan karon gipadayag siya kaninyo niining kataposan nga mga panahon.
He was pre-destined indeed to this work, even before the creation of the world, but has been plainly manifested in these last days for the sake of you who, through Him,
21 Pinaagi kaniya mituo kamo sa Dios, nga nagbanhaw kaniya gikan sa mga patay ug nganha kaniya nga naghatag sa himaya aron nga ang inyong pagtuo ug pagsalig maanaa sa Dios.
are faithful to God, who raised Him from among the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are resting upon God.
22 Gihimo ninyo nga putli ang inyong mga kalag pinaagi sa pagtuman sa kamatuoran. Kini alang sa katuyoan sa tinuoray nga inigsoong gugma, busa higugmaa ang matag-usa nga gikan sa kinailadman sa kasingkasing.
Now that, through your obedience to the truth, you have purified your souls for cherishing sincere brotherly love, you must love another heartily and fervently.
23 Natawo na kamo pag-usab, dili gikan sa madunot nga binhi, apan gikan sa dili madunot nga binhi, pinaagi sa pagkinabuhi ug pagpabilin sa pulong sa Dios. (aiōn g165)
For you have been begotten again by God's ever-living and enduring word from a germ not of perishable, but of imperishable life. (aiōn g165)
24 Kay “ang tanan nga unod sama sa sagbot, ug ang tanang himaya niini sama sa bulak sa sagbot. Ang sagbot malaya, ug mangahulog ang bulak,
"All mankind resemble the herbage, and all their beauty is like its flowers. The herbage dries up, and its flowers drop off;
