1 Juan 4
1 Mga hinigugma, ayaw tuohi ang matag espiritu, apan sulayi ang mga espiritu aron makita kung sila iya ba sa Dios, tungod kay daghang mini nga mga propeta ang midagsang sa kalibotan.
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Pinaagi niini inyong masayran ang Espiritu sa Dios—ang matag espiritu nga nag-ila nga si Jesu-Cristo mianhi diha sa unod iya sa Dios,
Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 ug ang matag espiritu nga wala moila kang Jesus dili iya sa Dios. Kini mao ang espiritu sa anti-cristo, nga inyong nadunggan nga moabot, ug karon ania na sa kalibotan.
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4 Kamo iya sa Dios, hinigugmang mga anak, ug gidaog na sila tungod kay siya nga anaa kaninyo mas dako pa kay kaniya nga anaa sa kalibotan.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
5 Sila iya sa kalibotan, busa kung unsa ang ilang isulti iya sa kalibotan, ug ang kalibotan maminaw kanila.
They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
6 Kita iya sa Dios. Siya nga nakaila sa Dios maminaw kanato. Siya nga dili iya sa Dios dili maminaw kanato. Pinaagi niini masayod kita sa matuod nga espiritu ug sa sayop nga espiritu.
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
7 Mga hinigugma, maghinigugmaay kita sa matag-usa, tungod kay ang gugma iya sa Dios, ang matag-usa nga mahigugma natawo sa Dios ug makaila sa Dios.
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 Ang tawo nga wala mahigugma wala nakaila sa Dios, kay ang Dios gugma.
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
9 Niini ang gugma sa Dios napadayag sa atong taliwala, nga ang Dios nagpadala sa iyang bugtong anak sa kalibotan aron nga kita mabuhi pinaagi kaniya.
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Mao kini ang gugma, dili kita ang nahigugma sa Dios, apan siya nahigugma kanato, ug nagpadala sa iyang Anak nga mahimong halad-sakripisyo sa atong mga sala.
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins.
11 Mga hinigugma, kung ang Dios nahigugma pag-ayo kanato, kita usab kinahanglan mahigugma sa matag-usa.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
12 Walay bisan usa ang nakakita sa Dios. Kung maghigugmaay kita sa matag-usa, ang Dios magpabilin kanato ug ang iyang gugma mahingpit dinhi kanato.
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13 Pinaagi niini masayran nato nga kita nagpabilin kaniya ug siya nganhi kanato, tungod kay iyang gihatag kanato ang iyang Espiritu.
Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
14 Ug atong nakit-an ug nasaksihan nga ang Amahan nagpadala sa iyang Anak nga mahimong manluluwas sa kalibotan.
And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son [to be] the Saviour of the world.
15 Si bisan kinsa nga moila nga si Jesus ang Anak sa Dios, ang Dios mopabilin kaniya ug siya anaa sa Dios.
Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
16 Ug nasayod kita ug nagtuo sa gugma nga ang Dios anaa kanato. Ang Dios gugma, ug siya mopabilin diha sa gugma nagpabilin sa Dios, ug ang Dios nagpabilin diha kaniya.
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
17 Niini nga gugma nahimong hingpit sa atong taliwala, aron makabaton kita ug pagsalig sa adlaw sa paghukom, ingon sa iyang pagkasiya, ug mao usab kita niining kalibotana.
Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18 Walay kahadlok diha sa gugma. Apan ang hingpit nga gugma magwagtang sa kahadlok, tungod kay ang kahadlok adunay kalabotan sa silot. Apan ang usa nga mahadlok wala pa nahimong hingpit diha sa gugma.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
19 Kita nahigugma tungod kay ang Dios una nga nahigugma kanato.
We love him, because he first loved us.
20 Kung si bisan kinsa ang mosulti nga, “ako nahigugma sa Dios” apan nagdumot sa iyang igsoon, siya bakakon. Kay ang usa nga wala mahigugma sa iyang igsoon, nga iyang nakita, dili makahigugma sa Dios, nga wala niya makita.
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
21 Ug mao kini ang kasugoan nga anaa kanato nga gikan kaniya: Si bisan kinsa ang nahigugma sa Dios kinahanglan mahigugma usab sa iyang igsoon.
And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
