1 А Израилевите мъже бяха се заклели в Месфа, казвайки: Ни един от нас да не даде дъщеря си на вениаминец за жена.
Also the sones of Israel sworen in Maspha, and seiden, Noon of vs schal yyue to the sones of Beniamyn a wijf of his douytris.
2 И людете дойдоха във Ветил та седяха там до вечерта пред Бога, и те с висок глас плакаха горко.
And `alle camen to the hows of God in Silo, and thei saten in the `siyt of hym `til to euentid, and thei reisiden the vois, and bigunnen to wepe with greet yellyng,
3 И рекоха: Защо, Господи Израилеви Бог, стана това в Израиля, та липса днес едно племе от Израиля?
and seiden, Lord God of Israel, whi is this yuel don in thi puple, that to dai o lynage be takun awey of vs?
4 И на утрешния ден, людете станаха рано та издигнаха олтар, и принесоха всеизгаряния и примирителни жертви.
Sotheli in the tother day thei risiden eerli, and bildyden an auter, and offriden there brent sacrifices and pesible sacrifices, and seiden,
5 Тогава израилтяните казаха: Кой измежду всичките Израилеви племена не възлезе на събранието при Господа? Защо бяха направили голяма клетва относно онзи, който не би дошъл при Господа в Масфа, като бяха рекли: Непременно да се умъртви.
Who of alle the lynagis of Israel stiede not in to the oost of the Lord? For whanne thei weren in Maspha, thei `hadden bounde hem silf with a greuouse ooth, that thei that failiden schulden be slayn.
6 И израилтяните се разкаяха за брата си Вениамина, казвайки: Днес се отне едно племе от Израиля.
And the sones of Israel weren led bi penaunce on her brother Beniamyn, and bigunnen to seie, O lynage of Israel is takun awey;
7 Какво да сторим за оцелелите от тях, за да имат жени, тъй като се заклехме в Господа да им не дадем жени от дъщерите си?
wherof schulen thei take wyues? for alle we sworen in comyn, that we schulen not yyue oure douytris to hem.
8 Затова казаха: Кой измежду Израилевите племена не възлезе в Масфа при Господ? И, ето, от Явис галаадски не беше дошъл никой на събранието в стана.
Therfor thei seiden, Who is of alle the lynagis of Israel, that stiede not to the Lord in Maspha? And lo! the dwelleris of Jabes of Galaad weren foundun, that thei weren not in the oost.
9 Защото, като се преброиха людете, ето, нямаше там ни един от жителите на Явис галаадски.
Also in that tyme, whanne thei weren in Silo, noon of hem was foundun there.
10 За това, обществото прати там дванадесет хиляди от най-храбрите мъже и казаха им със заповед: Идете, поразете жителите на Явис галаадски с острото на ножа, с жените и децата.
Therfor thei senten ten thousynde strongeste men, and comaundiden to hem, Go ye, and smyte the dwelleris of Jabes of Galaad bi the scharpnesse of swerd, as wel the wyues as `the litle children of hem.
11 И ето какво да направите: погубете съвсем всеки от мъжки пол, и всяка жена, която е лежала с мъж.
And this thing schal be, which ye `owen to kepe, sle ye alle of male kynde, and the wymmen, that knewen men fleischli; reserue ye the virgyns.
12 А между жителите на Явис галаадски намериха четиристотин млади девици, които не бяха познали мъж, като не бяха лежали с мъж; и доведоха ги в стана у Сило, което е в Ханаанската земя.
And foure hundrid virgyns, that knewen not the bed of man, weren foundun of Jabes of Galaad; and thei brouyten hem to the castels in Silo, in to the lond of Chanaan.
13 Тогава цялото общество прати да говорят на вениаминците, които бяха в канарата Римон, и да им прогласят мир.
And `thei senten messangeris to the sones of Beniamyn, that weren in the stoon of Remmon; and thei comaundiden to hem, that thei schulden resseyue tho wymmen in pees.
14 И тъй, вениаминците незабавно се върнаха; и те им дадоха за жени ония, които бяха останали живи от Явис галаадските жени; но пак не из стигнаха.
And the sones of Beniamyn camen in that tyme, and the douytris of Jabes of Galaad weren youun to hem to wyues; forsothe thei founden not othere wymmen, whiche thei schulden yyue in lijk maner.
15 И людете се смилиха за Вениамина, защото Господ беше направил пролом между Израилевите племена.
And al Israel sorewide greetly, and dide penaunce on the sleyng of o lynage of Israel.
16 Тогава старейшините на обществото казаха: Що да сторим за оцелелите, за да имат жени, тъй като жените са изтребени от Вениамина?
And the grettere men in birthe seiden, What schulen we do to the othere men, that han not take wyues? Alle the wymmen in Beniamyn felden doun,
17 И рекоха: Наследство е потребно за оцелелите от Вениамина, за да не изчезне едно племе от Израиля;
and it `is to vs to puruey `with greet cure and greet studie, that o lynage be not don awey fro Israel.
18 а пак ние не можем да им дадем жени от дъщерите си, защото израилтяните се заклеха, казвайки: Проклет, който даде жена на Вениамина.
We moun not yyue oure douytris to hem, for we ben boundun with an ooth and cursyng, bi which we seiden, Be he cursid that yyueth of hise douytris a wijf to Beniamyn.
19 Тогава рекоха: Ето, всяка година става празник Господу в Сило, което е на север от Ветил на изток от пътя, който отива от Ветил в Сихем, и на юг от Левона.
And thei token a counsel, and seiden, Lo! annyuersarie solempnyte of the Lord is in Silo, whych is set at the north of the citee of Bethel, and at the eest coost of the weie that goith from Bethel to Siccyma, and at the south of the citee of Lebona.
20 И така, заповядаха на вениаминците, казвайки: Идете, крийте се в лозята;
And thei comaundiden to the sones of Beniamyn, and seiden, Go ye, be ye hid in the vyneris;
21 и гледайте, и, ето, ако силоенските дъщери излязат да играят хоро, тогава излезте из лозята та си грабнете всеки за сабе си жена от силоенските дъщери, па си идете във Вениаминовата земя.
and whanne ye seen douytris of Silo go forth bi custom to lede daunsis, go ye out of the vyneris sudeynli, and rauysche ye hem, eche man o wijf, and go ye in to the lond of Beniamyn.
22 И когато бащите им или братята им, дойдат при вас, за да се оплачат, ние ще им речем; Бъдете благосклонни към тях заради нас, понеже в битката ние не задържахме жена за всекиго; а сега вие не сте им ги дали, та да сте виновни.
And whanne the fadris and britheren of hem schulen come, and bigynne to pleyne and plete ayens you, we schulen seie to hem, Haue ye mercy of hem; for thei rauyschiden not hem bi riyt of fiyteris and ouercomeris, but ye `yauen not to hem preiynge that thei schulden take; and the synne is of youre part.
23 И вениаминците сториха така, и според числото си взеха жени от играещите хоро; после си тръгнаха и се върнаха в наследството си, и съградиха изново градовете и живееха в тях.
And the sones of Beniamyn diden as it was comaundid to hem, and bi her noumbre thei rauyschiden wyues to hem, ech man o wijf, of hem that ledden daunsis. And thei yeden in to her possessioun, and bildiden citees, and dwelliden in tho.
24 Тогава израилтяните тръгнаха от там, всеки за в племето си и в рода си, и излязоха от там всеки за в наследството си.
And the sones of Israel turneden ayen, bi lynagis and meynees, in to her tabernaclis.
25 В ония дни нямаше цар в Израиля; всеки правеше каквото му се виждаше угодно.
In tho dayes was no kyng in Israel, but ech man dide this, that semyde ryytful to hym silf.
