Данаил 1
1 В третата година от царуването на Юдовия цар Иоаким дойде вавилонския цар Навуходоносор в Eрусалим и го обсади.
In the third year of the reign of Jehoyakim the king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.
2 И Господ предаде в ръката му Юдовия цар Иоаким и част от съдовете в Божия дом; и той ги занесе в земята Сенаар, в капището на своя бог, и съдовете внесе в съкровищницата на своя бог.
And the Lord gave up into his hand Yehoyakim the king of Judah, with part of the vessels of the house of God: and he brought them into the land of Shin'ar into the house of his god, namely, he brought the vessels into the treasure-house of his god.
3 И царят заповяда на началника на скопците си Асфеназ да доведе някой от израиляните, сиреч, от царския род и от благородните,
And the king said unto Ashpenas, the chief of his eunuchs, that he should bring out of the children of Israel, and of the royal seed, and of the nobles,
4 юноши без никакъв недостатък, красиви на глед, които проумяваха всякаква мъдрост, вещи във всякакво знание, такива, които владееха науките и бяха достойни да стоят в царския палат, та да ги учението и езика на халдейците.
[Certain] lads in whom there should be no kind of blemish, but who should be handsome in appearance, and intelligent in all wisdom, and acquainted with knowledge, and understanding science, and such as should have the ability to serve in the king's palace, and that these should be taught the learning and the language of the Chaldeans.
5 И царят им определи за всеки ден дял от царските изрядни ястия и от виното, което той пиеше, с които да ги хранят три години, за да стоят пред царя след изтичането на това време.
And the king ordered for them a daily provision for its day of the king's food, and of the wine which he drank, and to educate them three years, so that at the end thereof they should serve before the king.
6 А между тях бяха, от юдейците, Даниил, Анания, Мисаил, и Азария,
Now there were among these of the children of Judah, Daniel, Chananyah, Mishael, and 'Azaryah.
7 които началникът на скопците преименува, като нарече Даниила Валтасасар, и Анания Седрах, Мисаила Мисах, и Азария, Авденаго.
And the chief of the eunuchs assigned them names; and he assigned to Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Chananyah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to 'Azaryah, of 'Abed-nego.
8 Но Даниил реши в сърцето си да се не оскверни от изрядните ястия на царя, нито от виното, което той пиеше; затова, помоли началника на скопците да се не оскверни.
But Daniel resolved in his heart that he would not defile himself with the food of the king, nor with the wine which he drank: and therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not need to defile himself.
9 А Бог направи щото Даниил да придобие благоволение и милост пред началника на скопците.
And God gave Daniel kindness and mercy before the chief of the eunuchs.
10 И началникът на скопците рече на Даниила: Аз се боя от господаря си царя, който определи ястието ви и питието ви, да не би да види, че лицата ви са по-малко поправени от лицата на юношите вашите връстници, и така да турите главата ми в опасност пред царя.
And the chief of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath ordered your food and your drink; for why should he see your face sadder looking than that of the lads who are of your age? and ye would thus endanger my head with the king.
11 Тогава Даниил рече на надзирателя, когото началникът на скопците беше поставил над Даниила, Анания, Мисаила, и Азария.
Then said Daniel to the steward whom the chief of the eunuchs had given charge over Daniel, Chananyah, Mishael, and 'Azaryah,
12 Опитай, моля, слугите си десет дни, през което време да ни се даде зеленчук да ядем и вода да пием;
Prove, I beseech thee, thy servants, ten days; and let them give us vegetables to eat, and water to drink;
13 после нека се прегледат пред тебе нашите лица и лицата на юношите, които ядат от изрядните ястия на царя; и според каквото видиш постъпи със слугите си.
And then let our countenances be looked at before thee, and the countenance of the lads that eat the food of the king: and as thou mayest see [fitting], so deal with thy servants.
14 И той ги послуша в това нещо, и ги опита десет дена.
And he hearkened unto them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
15 И на края на десетте дена техните лица изглеждаха по-красиви и по-пълни, отколкото лицата на всичките юноши, които ядяха от изрядните ястия на царя.
And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared better and fuller in flesh than [that of] all the lads who ate the food of the king.
16 И тъй, надзирателят отнемаше от тях изрядното ястие и виното, което трябваше да пият, и им даваше зеленчук.
And the steward took away their [apportioned] food, and the wine that they were to drink, and gave them vegetables.
17 А на тия четири юноша Бог даде знание и разум във всяко учение и мъдрост; и Даниил можеше да проумява всички видения и сънувания.
But as regardeth all these four lads, God gave them knowledge and intelligence in all learning and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
18 И на края на дните, когато царят бе заповядал да ги въведат, началникът на скопците ги въведе пред Навуходоносора.
And at the end of the days [after] which the king had said that they should be presented, the chief of the eunuchs presented them before Nebuchadnezzar.
19 И като разговаря с тях царят, между всички тях не се намери подобен на Даниила, Анания, Мисаила, и Азария; за това, те стояха пред царя.
And the king spoke with them; and there was not found among them all any one like Daniel, Chananyah, Mishael, and 'Azaryah: and so they served before the king.
20 И във всяко дело, което изискваше мъдрост и проумяване, за което царят ги попита, намери ги десет пъти по-добри от всичките врачове и вражари, които бяха в цялото му царство.
And in every matter of wise understanding, which the king required of them, he found them ten times superior above all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his kingdom.
21 И Даниил остана до първата година на цар Кира.
And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.
