Then Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through.

And behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and was rich.

So he ran on ahead and climbed a sycamore tree so that he could see him, because Jesus was about to pass by that way.
5 Da Yesu ye ni bubu'a, a nzuya shu nda hla wu, “Zakka, grji ue gbagbla, don luwa gbigbi me son koh me.”
When Jesus came to that place, he looked up and saw him. Then he said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at yoʋr house today.”
6 U wa grji nitsu me nda ye kpa ni ngyiri.
So he hurried down and received Jesus with joy.
7 Da ko nha a toh, baka na son na wawu mbawu, nda tre, “A ye hi ziri ni koh ndji u lahtre.”
When all the people saw it, they grumbled, saying, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinful man.”
8 Zakka kri nda hla ni Bachi, “Toh mba Bachi, nh'ma ha u kpie me he wu'a me nno bi ya, mba u mita mla ndrjo kpieri, me nno nkpu nza rjula.”
But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Behold, half of my goods, Lord, I give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone, I will pay back four times the amount.”
9 Yesu hla niwu, “Luwa cheto aye ni koh yi don wawu me ahi Vren Ibrahim.
Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man has shown that he too is a son of Abraham.
10 E, Ivren Ndji a ye wah nda kpa bi wa ba kado'a chuwo.”
For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.”
11 Da ba wo tre ba, a trenda hla misali ri ni bawu, ka ahe whiwhre ni Wurushelima, u ba ban koh mulki Irji tiewhre u ye.
Now as the people were listening to this, Jesus went on to tell a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God was going to appear at once.
12 A tre towa, “Indji ri wa ani to tie a hi ni gburi gbugbanmu nda hi kpa chu nda kma ye.
So he said, “A man of noble birth went to a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself and then return.
13 A yo mri koh ma wlon nda nno ba pa wlon, nda hla bawu, 'Hi kasran niwu gbien kma yemu.'
Calling ten of his servants, he gave them ten minas and said to them, ‘Engage in business until I return.’

But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this man to reign over us.’

When he returned after receiving the kingdom, he summoned the servants to whom he had given the money, to find out who had gained what by engaging in business.
16 U mumla a ye niwu nda tre, 'Bachi mu, pa me'a wa une'a a nji pa wlon ye nha.'
The first came before him and said, ‘Master, yoʋr mina has made ten minas more.’

The king said to him, ‘Well done, good servant! Because yoʋ have been faithful in a very small matter, take authority over ten cities.’
18 U ha ye nda tre, pa me Bachi, a nji pa ton bari ye.'
The second came and said, ‘Master, yoʋr mina has made five minas.’
19 Ichu'a hla wu, 'U kpa gbu ton wa wu nji'a.
The king said to him, ‘Yoʋ are to be over five cities.’
20 Iri ye nda tre, Bachi, ngye pa me'a yi, mi ka ri mlazi ni mi kpi,
Another came and said, ‘Master, behold, here is yoʋr mina, which I kept put away in a piece of cloth.
21 don mi klu sissri me, don u ndji u nno ya. U ban ni bubu wa una zi'a na.
For I was afraid of yoʋ, because yoʋ are a stern man. Yoʋ take out what yoʋ did not put in, and yoʋ reap what yoʋ did not sow.’
22 U chu'a hla wu, 'Ni tre u nyu me ba me han tre'a nitu me, wu meme gran. Wu toh ndi mi ndji wa mi wa bran, ni ban ikpi wa mi na kazi'a na, u me hi vu ikpie'a mi na chuna.
The king said to him, ‘I will condemn yoʋ by the words coming out of yoʋr own mouth, yoʋ evil servant. Yoʋ knew, did yoʋ, that I was a stern man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow?
23 Don ngye una yo nklen ni banki toh mi na kma ye mika kpa nha ni a hon tuma (riba) na?
Why then did yoʋ not deposit my money in the bank, and when I came I would have collected it with interest?’
24 Ichu'a hla bawu wa ba kri wu'a, 'kpa pa wa ahe ni wu'a, ndi ka nno u pa wlon'a.'
Then he said to those standing nearby, ‘Take the mina from him and give it to the one who has ten minas.’
25 Ba hla wu, Bachi, a he ni pa wlon.'
But they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas!’
26 Mi hla yiwu, indji wa a he wu'a, ba nno tia, amma uwa a hama wu'a, ba kpa mbru wa ahe niwu.
The king said, ‘I tell you that everyone who has will be given more, but the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.
27 Amma biyi, bi yo shishi nime, bi wa bana nyime ndu me chu mba na, nji ba ye wayi ndi wu ba ni shishi mu.'”
But as for those enemies of mine who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them in front of me.’”

After saying these things, Jesus continued on his way up to Jerusalem, walking ahead of his disciples.

If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ tell him this: ‘The Lord has need of it.’”
32 Biwa ba ton ba, bahi nda kato vren na pron'a towa Yesu a hla bawu'a.
So those who were sent went off and found it just as he had told them.
33 Baka ki si vren nagro, kikima baka mye ba, “Bi si vren nakpron ni ngye?”
As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”
34 U ba tre, “Bachi ni son.”
They said, “The Lord has need of it.”
35 Ba nji ye ni Yesu, nda lba ba kpi mba ni tu vren nakpron nda ban Yesu sa tuma.
Then they brought the colt to Jesus, threw their garments over it, and set Jesus on it.

And as he drew near to the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles they had seen,

40 Yesu a sa bawu, Mi hla yiwu njanjimu, biyi bata ki ngbangbi, tita ba yra gro.”
In response he said to them, “I tell you, if they keep silent, the stones will cry out.”
41 Wa Yesu tie whiwhre ni gbu'a, ayi nitu ma,
As he drew near to Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it,

43 Ivi ni ye niwu wa bi kamba niwu ba me gle kagon me, nda mau krju tie.
For the days will come upon yoʋ when yoʋr enemies build a barricade around yoʋ and encircle yoʋ, hemming yoʋ in on every side.

They will raze yoʋ to the ground, and yoʋr children within yoʋ. They will not leave in yoʋ one stone upon another, because yoʋ did not recognize the time of yoʋr visitation.”

Every day Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, but the chief priests and the scribes were seeking to destroy him, and so were the prominent leaders among the people.

But they could not figure out what to do, for all the people were hanging on his every word as they listened to him.
